  • Anything such as a usb laptop charger?

    I am looking for a laptop charger that requires no power outlet but instead utilizes a usb port of another computer to charge my laptop. That is, I am seeking a usb-to-laptop port charger, NOT power outlet-to-laptop's usb charger. Is such a product even possible? I am guessing no since the usb port would not be able to supply enough electricity to power the laptop, even to maintain the battery (not charge it).

  • Can I prevent tv-out from disconnecting when monitor sleeps?

    I have my TV connected to my computer (windows 7) through an HDMI cable that also carries the sound. I like to put on music on my TV, but the problem is when my monitor goes to sleep back in my office, it switches off the hdmi connection completely and the audio goes back to my PC. I would like a way to stop this from happening without turning off sleep mode entirely. I have an ATi Radeon 5700

  • Using Windows XP Mode Virtual Machine on a Domain

    I've followed the instructions and installed and configured the Windows Virtual PC XP Mode. I've added it as a machine on the network and can log into it and use network resources. In the process I removed the saved credentials, which are just a default local login to the VM. I need to know how to set this so that the VM auto logs in with the domain account credentials used to log into the physical computer. Google hasn't helped me find the answer.

    When setting up an Apache virtual host, I'll occasionally get the following error when attempting to access the site. Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server. Is there any method to (or tool that will) tell me why Apache is denying access? (local rule in httpd.conf, file permissions, etc. I'm not looking for help with a specific configuration, instead I'm looking for a way to have the computer tell me what's wrong with my system and/or configuration.

  • Screen is greyed out after power failure shutdown: Mac OSX

    When the battery power is down and the unit not plugged in the computer is forced into a sleep mode requiring pushing the start button when power is re-connected. The initial desktop screen appears to be greyed out and is unresponsive with a timer bar which, when the timing sequence is complete restores an active desktop. I can't find any reference to this phenomenon in the OSX literature I have. Any pointers to where I can get more information? Perhaps I am using the wrong search criteria?

I am able to boot to the crap recover cd that is basically just dos and to a copy of "ultimate boot cd v5" that i just now downloaded and created from the same computer and burner that the xp cd was made from. everything boots but this xp cd. is there a way to tell if its boot-able

  • "Busy" icon not spinning in Windows 7

    Hi there, I just got a new Sony Vaio with pre-installed Windows 7 and I noticed that the busy icon (that is, that little blue wheel that stays next to the mouse pointer when Windows is processing something) doesn't spin, ever. Does anyone know what could cause this, or how to fix it?   • Windows XP SP3 client printer error over AD

    I have Windows Server 2008r2 and a Windows XP SP3 client machine in Active Directory. My problem is that I've installed the printer on the windows server and shared it, the permissions are right, but when i try to connect to that printer from the windows xp client, it throws the following errer: "You do not have sufficient access to your computer to connect to the selected printer". Again, the permissions are right. I think I'm missing something that I couldn't find on the web. :( please help!

  • Fedora 13 post security update boot problem

    Hello. About a month ago I installed a security update that had new Kernek 2.6.34.x from 2.6.33.x), this is when the problem occurred for the first time. After the install my computer would not boot at all, black screen without any visible hard drive activity (I gave it good 30 minutes on black screen, before took actions)... I poped in installation DVD and went in rescue mode to change back the boot option to old kernel (was just a guess where the problem was). After restart computer loaded just file, took a long time for it to start because of SELinux targeted policy relabel is required. Relabeling could take very long time depending on file size. I assumed that the update got messed up somehow and continued working with modified boot option. Couple of days ago, there was another kernel update. I installed it and same problem as before. This rules out corrupted update theory... Black screen right after 'BIOS' screen before OS gets loaded. I had to rescue system again... Below is copy of my grub.conf file.     I purchased a new hard drive for my desktop and when I try to boot up the computer with a Windows disc in the drive, it will go through a bunch of screens and ask me which partition I would like to install windows into, but after it goes through the formatting step and reboots, I get a message saying Primary Master Drive Fails.   • Dual Use (Mice and Keyboayd) of Windows 7

    I saw some answers to this question however they were fairly old (at least 2 years) and primarily for Vista or previous Windows OS versions. My question is this: Is there a program that allows a single Windows 7 computer to have multiple users (2 needed) and allow for two mice and two keyboards on two screens. What I'm trying to achieve: I'd like for the ability to play a game on one monitor while another person surfs the web, uses a program, or possibly play a different game. Any ideas?
