• How to store Ruby method references in a database?

  I am writing my first rails app. It needs to aggregate some data from multiple sites and for each site I have a unique way of getting the data (some provide RSS, some JSON, for some I scrape the HTML etc.). These will run on schedule, probably as a rake task from cron. It seems logical to store the sites and relevant information in a model, but I am not sure where to put unique data retrieval methods. Do I store method names in the model? Do I just name the methods the same as site name and call them that way? Basically, I need a way to read a list of sites and call appropriate method for each site. What is the Ruby on Rails way to do it?

• Integrating Codeigniter and Objective C

  I'm currently building a social networking site using the codeIgniter PHP framework. One of our major focuses of this site is to be able to upload images through the use of smartphones. We were focusing on building for the iPhone, but the iPhone doesn't let you upload files for some reason beyond me. I have been looking through solutions for days seeing if we could somehow integrate an iPhone app and have come up with nothing. The only thing I have found is using Cocoa Xcode in Objective C to somehow get around the fact. Now I don't know anything about objective C and I was wondering if I could somehow integrate a snippet of objective C into my PHP to allow users to upload photos off their iPhone and onto our site. Is this possible? If so how? If not, does anyone know another work around?

• django ignoring admin.py

  I am trying to enable the admin for my app. I managed to get the admin running, but I can't seem to make my models appear on the admin page. I tried following the tutorial (here) which says: (Quote) Just one thing to do: We need to tell the admin that Poll objects have an admin interface. To do this, create a file called admin.py in your polls directory, and edit it to look like this: from polls.models import Poll from django.contrib import admin admin.site.register(Poll) (end quote) I added an admin.py file as instructed, and also added the following lines into urls.py: from django.contrib import admin admin.autodiscover() urlpatterns = patterns('', ... (r'^admin/', include(admin.site.urls)), ) but it appears to have no effect. I even added a print 1 at the first line of admin.py and I see that the printout never happens, So I guess django doesn't know about my admin.py. As said, I can enter the admin site, I just don't see anything other than "groups", "users" and "sites". What step am I missing?

• Microsoft.Web.Administration.ServerManager can't read config sections containing encrypted passwords in applicationHost.config

  I have some sites in IIS7 that are configured to run as domain users (MYDOMAIN\someuser). Any tips on how I can either allow ServerManager to decrypt this, or just tell IIS to store the passwords in plain text? This is on IIS7 under Windows 7 RC, by the way.

• Jquery autocomplete not firing on keyup unless focus changes

  I am using a jquery autocomplete and i have a keyup event for my textbox. When I enter in a letter the function is called but the box is not populated. Once I click away from the box and then click back into it the autocomplete works great. Really weird issue and I have no idea how to fix it. • logging a facebook user ID to a local database from a facebook 'like'

  I am creating a site that allow users to vote on webpages similar to digg.com. Users login with 'facebook connect' and logged in users can submit, vote, comment, etc and these details appear in their profile ie. number of submits, votes, comments, etc. I have also added in facebook 'likes' to the system. I would however like to be able replace the internal voting platform with facebook 'likes'. What I would like to be able to do is identify when any of the site users vote on a facebook 'like'. Although a facebook 'like' can be made outside of my site I am only interested when a logged in user submits a 'like' so this can contribute towards their stats. Is this possible, if so how? • Awstats showing 404s for pages and objects I definitely don't have...

  I have a HostGator site using Awstats and I've recently noticed the following 3 bizarre 404s: [address] [times] /images/wikimedia-button.png 1 /apple-touch-icon.png 1 /imgs/custom-space.gif 1 the first and third also carry referrers from within my site, but are 100% definitely absolutely not linked by any of my pages. I'm not too worried about it, seeing as each one has only popped up once. But I am concerned about why Awstats thinks one of my pages is referring what is apparently a wikipedia image, and why Steve Jobs is trying to haxx0r me (/joke) This is my first site to receive moderate daily usage, so I'm curious if these sorts of unique weird-o 404s just come with the territory, or if I should be double-checking something... • Spring MVC and Jetty: Prevent jsessionid from being used in RedirectView on redirect to external sit

  In Spring MVC 2.5 with Jetty - probably with any servlet container -, I want to redirect to an external site using RedirectView via the magic "redirect:" prefix for the view name in ModelAndView. Unfortunately, RedirectView uses response.encodeURL(), so my (otherwiese wanted) session id is appended to the URL. It is not only a security risk to carry the session id to the external site, the ";jsessionid=gagnbaba" string may also be interpreted as part of the ContextPath/PathInfo on the other site, resulting in a bad URL. Any "springish" options other than implement my own ExternalRedirectView... and also hack the ViewResolver to interpret a "externalRedirect:" prefix? (Requiring cookies is not an option.) Moritz

• OpenCV 2.0 and Python

  I cannot get the example Python programs to run. When executing the Python command "from opencv import cv" I get the message "ImportError: No module named _cv". There is a stale _cv.pyd in the site-packages directory, but no _cv.py anywhere. See step 5 below. MS Windows XP, VC++ 2008, Python 2.6, OpenCV 2.0 Here's what I have done. Downloaded and ran the MS Windows installer for OpenCV2.0. Downloaded and installed CMake Downloaded and installed SWIG Ran CMake. After unchecking "ENABLE_OPENMP" in the CMake GUI, I was able to build OpenCV using INSTALL.vcproj and BUILD_ALL.vcproj. I do not know what the difference is, so I built everything under both of those project files. The C example programs run fine. Copied contents of OpenCV2.0/Python2.6/lib/site-packages to my installed Python2.6/lib/site-packages directory. I notice that it contains an old _cv.pyd and an old libcv.dll.a.

I put ?q=user at the end of the URL to login as an admin. When I logged in it is the same. I couldn't navigate to any URL. It shows only homepage. I forgot to clean Drupal cache before migration. • ASP.NET Session State Error only on default document

  I have a site where when accessing via site.com/default.aspx everything is fine, however when accessing via site.com/ I get a session error as follows: "Session state can only be used when enableSessionState is set to true, either in a configuration file or in the Page directive. Please also make sure that System.Web.SessionStateModule or a custom session state module is included in the \\ section in the application configuration." I have confirmed that default.aspx is the highest priority default document and that it is the page being loaded. However why is this session error only occurring when accessing via the default document? The server is 2008 R2 and IIS 7.5.

On http://site1.com/admin/ I see flatpages for site1, on http://site2.com/admin/ I see flatpages for site2. But I want to see all pages in http://site1.com/admin/ interface! What am I doing wrong?

• Internet Explorer blocked this website from displaying content with security certificate errors

  I have a security certificate linked to a CDN's server. The main website is https:www.connect4fitness.com When I pull the site up in firefox or chrome, everything works fine. But in IE I get the following error: "Internet Explorer blocked this website from displaying content with security certificate errors." On IE 9 it shows the button "Display Content" and you can get past the error by clicking on the button. On older versions on I the error message is much more cryptic and is confusing users. Please note that I don't have the option of asking end users to add the site to Trusted Sources as some folks use the site from their work computers and do not have that access. Also, some people don't bother to call once they hit the error. I have looked at the content and all my links are "https" only. I had one namespace link and I got rid of it. Any idea about how I can find what is triggering this message?

• Godaddy ASPNET membership database woes -- PLEASE HELP

  Ok heres the deal I purchased a windows shared hosting account on godaddy that came with 2 MSSQL databases. I setup one to hold my site data and the other installed aspnet membership schema to store site members. The site works perfectly even displaying data from the 1st database. However when I try to login or register I get this nasty error Exception Details: System.Configuration.Provider.ProviderException: The SSE Provider did not find the database file specified in the connection string. At the configured trust level (below High trust level), the SSE provider can not automatically create the database file. Ive gone through my web.config and theres nothing wrong with my 2 connection strings. It seems godaddy has a problem with using 2 mssql databases simultaneously when 1 is for membership. Googling just finds a whole lot of people with the same problem -- but no solutions! Does anyone know a solution or a workaround?...or has anyone ever successfully used 2 databases(1 for membership) on godaddy?

  I'm NTLM (authenication="windows" in the web.config) with an asp.net mvc 2.0 site. Right now once a user logs in it keeps them logged in for weeks at a time. The use of the application is being opened up to users who share computers that use logged in service accounts. I need the site to reprompt each user for their AD credentials each time in order to handle these users. (Activity on the site must be linked to a uniquely identified user.)   I've recently been asked to completely rewrite and redesign a web site and the owner of the company has stressed that he wants the site to be made with the latest and greatest technology available, but to avoid additional costs. As of right now, I'm torn between looking into a CMS implementation and writing a new implementation with MVC. The site is mainly brochure ware, but will need to allow the visitors to submit some data through forms. There are quite a few lists and content features that are dynamic and should be treated as such. Since ASP.NET MVC is new, I don't want to bastardize the implementation if I go that way... Any recommendations on best implementation practices for a MVC website? Also, has anyone had their MVC implementation hosted anywhere that they would recommend?

  So the site I'm working on has a filter system that operates by passing a key and value system through a querystring. The whole site is going through a re-factor soon and I'm maintaining the existing site so before we discuss the RIGHT way to implement this, I just need ideas for changing my delimiter. The current format is like this: cf=<key>:<value> The problem is, I've recently run into an issue because some of our new values for this filter contain : in them. I.e: cf=MO_AspectRatio:16:10 The value is being UrlEncoded, but the browsers are de-coding %3a into : on the fly because the : doesn't inherently break the urls. I need some suggestions for url-safe delimiters that aren't :,-,_,&,? that makes sense. I'm not looking for a solution like () or something wild.

• Is Lucern.net good choice for website search of 1M item product database? (giving up on SQL Server

  We currently have in production SQL Server 2005 and we use it's full text search for a eCommerce site search of a million product database. I've optimized it as much as possible (I think) and we're still seeing search times of five seconds. (We don't need site scrawl or PDF (etc.) document indexing features... JUST "Google" speed for site search.) I was going to buy dtSearch but now I realize I can just use Lucerne.net and save the $2,500 for two server license. I read on a post that Lucerne.Net is not good for website searches. Has anyone else used Lucerne.Net from ASP.Net? Does it take a lot of memory? Any problems? Any comments?

• Website looks weird in internet explorer 7, but fine in IE 6 and 8

  I used many different browsers while I was coding for a new site (Firefox, Chrome, IE8, Opera, Safari, Mobile devices, etc...). It looked the same across all browsers. I recently uploaded the site onto the server and got to look at it from work, using Internet Explorer 7 and It looks horrible. Elements are floating wild all over the place, but I cant figure out why. The weird thing is I just looked at it from IE6, and it looks fine, with the exception of unsupported transparencies in PNG's. If anybody has IE7, you can view the site here. Thanks

• How can I prompt for input using Selenium/Webdriver and use the result?
