I coded a webpage in Visual Studio to, basically, SELECT * from a table in the SQLEXPRESS, but I can never get the connection string to work.   • web services access not being reached thru the web browser [closed]

    I am trying to reference my .asmx webservices in .NET but my server is not exposed to the internet. When I put on the following address I get the message mentioned below. What's the reason for not being able to see the directory? Am I missing something in my IIS configuraction? Am I missing anything in my permissions? Just as reference I have other folders with webservices and I have the same issue. When I login to the server I am doing it with my windows user and password (I am using windows authentication). It's necessary to mention that when I put the URL I am getting a popup screen to put in my userid and password but it seems that's not able to validate since keeps asking me a couple of times.     I have the complete hdd of my laptop encrypted (with the Windows built-in Bitlocker) and thus have to login two times upon booting (Bitlocker and user account). Since I'm the only person using the computer (and knowing the Bitlocker password), I was thinking about automatically login into the user account to make the boot process smoother and quicker. In which cases/scenarios is this a bad idea and the additional login gives a true additionally layer of security?

Yousendit offers a service like what I am looking for, but it does not make sense to use their service if I already have a web server.     I have Ubuntu 9.10 installed on it's own partition. Once in a while I would like to start it as a guest OS under Windows XP. While it starts and working fine, I can't login with gdm, after I enter login and password, X crashes and I'm at login prompt again. I can login with console just fine. Is there anything I can do prevent X from crashing?

    I have set up a mercurial repo to be served using apache+wsgi+hgweb on OS X. It is now completely open to anyone who stumbles upon my server on the correct port number.. How can I set it up so that only people with a username+password pair that I approve can pull and/or push from the repo? I know how to very easily achieve this using ssh, but in this specific case the requirement is that the solution doesn't require defining full fledged user accounts on the machine for each person whom I'd like to give access to the repo.

I found and I'm using Gladinet which allowed dragging of a folder plus contents into SkyDrive, but not dragging of folders containing folders, its working but it has also failed to transfer a few times as well. Anything better? That can drag folders containing other folders? Any comment on how safe they are (as you obviously need to enter your windows live password)

We wanted to open it up for viewing to the public and I'd like to know if there is a way to let people log in with their Windows Live ID without having to set up a user account for them beforehand? What we are after is a user being able to walk up to the PC, type in their Windows Live ID and password, and they're logged in as a default user. Is this doable in Windows 8, and if so, how?

    There is a computer that is not mine that is accessible on my network. I can even access its filesystem via AFP. What I want to know is how the computer could get on my network. My network is secured like this: Does that mean that they've used password cracking tools? The pass is not easy to guess but not hard to figure out via brute-force hacking, I guess. If I am being hacked, should I switch to WPA?
