  We have a Asp.Net Webform page which contains a GridView inside UpdatePanel and refreshes every minute. And every one minute we get the following error in Event log. Error Message:Unable to validate data. • Rollback to a specific moment with PostgreSQL

  Hi, Is there a way to rollback to a specific starting point. Im looking for something like this. Start specific_point; Now after this, an other application connected with the SAME login will insert & delete datas (webservices with crud operations) for about 2 minutes doing tests. Each webservice call is declared as a transaction with Spring Ws. After that i want to rollback to the specific_point to have a clean database to a known previous state. I was thinking that ROLLBACK TO SAVEPOINT foo; was the solution but not unfortunately? Any idea ? Configuration: PostgreSQL 8.4 / windows XP Regards

• Input string was not in correct format.

  Hi Experts, I had a Ribbon like custom control. I created an application using this control. These applications work fine until I change the system number format. They crashes if I change the system number format like below: Current Format = English (United State) Decimal symbol = ',' Digit group symbol = '.' When I run applications, they throw an exception "Input string not in Correct format". . Some other applications specify the Exception's message = "Input string '0,2,0,2' was not a correct format", so I think in Wpf ES's xaml files, we may declare some properties i.e Padding, Margin like "0,2,0,2" = that will cause errors with the system number format above. I have note that this error only occurs in Windows Vista, it does not occurs on Windows XP. I do not know why?   I have a linq to sql table/class that uses a GUID as both a primary key and as foreign key. This problem came up when factoring some code that previously worked. The exception generated is "Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object." The process I use is as such: aspnet_User user() = new aspnet_User(); aspnet_user.childTable = new childTable(); .. set some properties user.Insert() -> my custom method ... @ my custom method using (mycontext dc = new context() ) { user.childTable.ID = (Guid)myNewlyCreatedGuid; } The exception occurs on the assignment childTable.set_UserId().

  Hi, our emails are being flagged as junk. I have two different webistes both with their own dedicted ip address. sitea.com = xx.xx.xx.43 siteb.com = xx.xx.xx.44 Im using hmailserver to host our emails and have the smtp bound to the ip address of xx.xx.xx.42 im aware that i can set up a spf record to state that the what servers emails can be sent from v=spf1 mx ip4:xx.xx.xx.43 mx:mail.sitea.com ip4:xx.xx.xx.42 -all Would the fact that email are not sent from the sites ip's be causing them to be flagged as junk. • jquery animating different img widths

  Hi there, I've been searching for an answer for a long time with no avail, so it's time to ask. I'm trying to use .animate() to change the size of an image once clicked. The first state of the image would be a thumbnail size, which would animate to the image's original size, then to a thumbnail again. The problem is, not all the images have the same "original" size so I need a way to tell one generic function to switch to the current image's original size. This is my current code which loads on $(window).load: $('img[class=resize]').click(function (){ if ($(this).width() != 150) { $(this).animate({width: '150px'}, 400); } else { $(this).animate({width: ''}, 400); } }); Now this obviously doesn't work the way I want it, because .animate() thinks when I say width: '' I want to make the width = 0. Any suggestions how I should go about this?

• Should I move client to Lamp or develop on Wamp?

  I have never developed for WAMP, the hosting guy for my new client says they are using Windows servers, they can setup PHP and MySQL for me, but they cannot switch to a *nix server. He said there are some nuances from PHP on *nix Vs. win. So my question is, if I have never programmed PHP on win, should I go through the hassle of switching hosts (since they cannot do *nix themselves), or are the differences slight enough that it shouldn't be too big a problem for me? (side note: the state of the clients website has no effect since it is a static all-flash site and is going to be completely rebuilt) Thanks!

  XNA If I have a button class, and I have a buttonManager class that manages what buttons to be drawn to the screen depending on what the current game state is (main menu, in game, etc), how do I organize my code so that when I click on a button, it takes the user to a different screen. (ex. options menu, ingame). To be more specific, if I were to put the check to see if the user clicks on the button within the buttonManager how would I have the game switch and run the actual game (which is in an entire different class)? • How do I get certain code to execute before every single controller action in ASP.NET MVC 2?

  I want to check some things about the state of the session, the user agent, etc, and possibly take action and return a special view BEFORE a controller method gets a chance to execute. For example: Most common: User requests Home/Index System checks to make sure x != 0. x does not equal zero, so the Home/Index controller executes like normal. But, sometimes: User requests Home/Index System checks to make sure x != 0. x DOES equal zero. The user must be notified and the requested controller action cannot be allowed to execute. I think this involves the use of ActionFilters. But I have read about them and I don't understand if I can preempt the controller method and return a view before it executes. I am sure I could execute code before the controller method runs, but how do I keep it from running in some instances and return a custom view, or direct to a different controller method?

Where often only the last few positions differ. These numbers are perfectly right according to the xsd, but yet i found some pages(3,4) that state that only 0.0, 0.1, 0.2, .., 1.0 are valid values. How will the search engines react to such a sitemap? Will some just round the value? I know that it is unlikely that someone can provide an answer to that question, unless he works for that search engine, but i think experiences will also do.

  The question is a little complex. The problem here is to get rid of duplicates and save the unique elements of array into another array with their original sequence. For example : If the input is entered b a c a d t The result should be : b a c d t in the exact state that the input entered. So, for sorting the array then checking couldn't work since I lost the original sequence. I was advised to use array of indices but I don't know how to do. So what is your advise to do that?

I am trying to do something like the following, and would like to avoid a temporary table, but the subquery will be drawn from a much larger dataset so it makes sense to only do it once.. • How to? WCF customBinding over Https

  Hi all, I'm trying to setup a WCF service for internal use, on our external facing web-farm (we dont have a web farm internally, and I need this service to have failover and load-balancing). Requirements: PerSession state, as we need the service to retain variable data for each session. HTTPS. After lots of googling i've read I needed to create a customBinding, which I've done, but not sure if it is correct. Larger message size, as one of the parameters is a byte[] array, which can be a max of 5mb. no requirement to manually edit the client-side app.config. ie, I need the Developer to just add the service reference, and then starts using the object without fiddly changing of app.config. Note: I've previously had this service working under HTTP correctly (using wsHttpBinding). I've also had it working under HTTPS, but it didn't support PerSession state, and lost internal variable values each function call. I'm currently getting this error from the test harness: Could not find default endpoint element that references contract 'AppMonitor.IAppMonitorWcfService' in the ServiceModel client configuration section. This might be because no configuration file was found for your application, or because no endpoint element matching this contract could be found in the client element. NOTE: The error is arising on an Test Harness EXE, that has the WCF service referenced directly under Service References. This is not the problem of an exe referencing another object, that then references the WCF service, that i've read about. The WSDL is showing correctly when browsing to the URL. • Multiple arrangements/asserts per unit test?

  A group of us (.NET developers) are talking unit testing. Not any one framework (we've hit on MSpec, NUint, MSTest, RhinoMocks, TypeMock, etc) -- we're just talking generally. We see lots of syntax that forces a distinct unit test per scenario, but we don't see an avenue to re-using one unit test with various inputs or scenarios. Also, we don't see an avenue to multiple asserts in a given test without an early assert's failure threatening the testing of later asserts (in the same test). Is there anything like that happening in .NET unit testing (state- or behavior-based) today?

  Suppose I have following code in linux: int main() { FILE* f = fopen("file.txt", "w"); fork(); fwrite("A", 1, 1, f); fclose(f); return 0; } What I know about fork from documentation, is that it makes the copy of current process. It copies state of the memory as well, so *f should be equal in both instances. But what happens with system resources, such as a file handle? In this example I open the file with write intentions, so only one instance can write into file, right? Which of the instances will actually write into file? Who should care further about the file handle, and call fclose() ?

• I have a problem implementing states in my Flex app, please help!

  Hey guys, I'm trying to work out how to use states in my Flex app. I've created two states, State1 and Stage 2. Both are based off the base state. I've created a few visual elements for State1, and given each of them includeIn="State1". But when I'm in design mode and click on State2, these elements are still visible? Why is that? If I try to delete them while State2 is selected, all that happens is RemoveChild is added to the State2 tag. Is this how I'm supposed to do it? Thanks for reading!

  hey folks, I try to realize a little game project to dive deeper into OO programming (winforms c++/cli). I already started coding but now I´d like to make a re-design. For the beginning the game should consist of four parts like game-engine, user interface, highscore and playground.   I have a AJAX client which must receive messages from server. Some messages from server not like request-response type. For example, imaging game in which players can enter. Server must send to client info about player entering. But how can server send message to client via http without request from client? Only decision that i can invent: client send request to server (getNewPlayerEnter request) with big timeout, server checks state of player set, if in set new players are, then server send info to client, if not server 'sleeps' on some time, and after 'sleeping' server checks players set again. I think my desicion a little stupid(maybe not little). How implement it right? p.s. sorry for my english

• How to indicate to user that a command affects a subset of a multiple selection?

  Here is an example that illustrates my question. I have a program that lists 1000 items. I select 10 of 1000 items. The program enables a button indicating that a command is available for my selection. I click the button, and a window appears. I make some change in the window and click OK. The command changes 5 of the 10 items in my multiple selection, and those 5 changed items now reflect a modified state in my list. My question is: How do I indicate to user that the command affects a subset of a multiple selection before clicking OK? Can anyone cite examples of existing products that handle this scenario well?

• Any reason why I shouldn't use couchdb for message passing or realtime activity streams?

  While using ampq or xmpp (rabbitmq or ejabbered that could have couchdb as backends) seems like a good fit to deliver real time updates about friend state in a social gaming platform where updates are small but frequent, I can't help but think why wouldn't couchdb be a good platform to deliver such updates? The main advantage I could think of is its ability to filter updates based on friends and availability of changes api, which makes developing such an application and managing it (including replication) quite easy compared to ampq or xmpp where you have to think about how to manage the pubsub nodes and who is subscribed to them at any point in time. However, I can't help but think this is too good to be true, I can't find information on what couchdb's shortcomings are. Somehow, it feels like using MySQL for message passing which is why I am hesitant to using it. Anyone have any experience in using couchdb for such applications? would you recommend another platform to use?

• iOS : is it possible to open previous viewController after crashing and re-launch app?

  How to achieve this stuff below? Please give me some guidance for it. I describe my issue below. When I tap home button and remove app from tray and while I am opening app I get the login screen. I know how to use NSUserDefaults well. But my issue is that when I navigate 3rd or 4th viewController and I press Home Button and remove app from tray, Then whenever I open app than I want to open with last open viewController. Also same when my app is Crashing and I am opening it again then I want to open app with last open viewController state. So I just want to know that is that possible or not? If yes, then please guide me how to achieve this stuff. Thank you
