  • Adding bindingRedirect element in web.config when upgrading from asp.net mvc 1 to asp.net mvc 2

    Hi all, I have got a question with regards to upgrading asp.net mvc applications from v1 to v2... I've noticed in the ASP.NET MVC v2 Release notes that we need to add this code (please see below) when upgrading, but it did not state what would be the purpose of it because I've tried experimenting some of my apps to asp.net mvc 2 without adding this particular section in web.config. <runtime> <assemblyBinding xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1"> <dependentAssembly> <assemblyIdentity name="System.Web.Mvc" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35"/> <bindingRedirect oldVersion="1.0.0.0" newVersion="2.0.0.0"/> </dependentAssembly> </assemblyBinding> </runtime> Would there be implications should I not place this?   • Will Visual Studio 2010 only run 4.0 unit tests?

    I have different projects written in .NET 3.5 and some unit test projects to cover them. When converting my solution to be used in Visual Studio 2010 I keep all my projects in 3.5 but the unit tests are forced to 4.0? This way I cannot use them with my regular projects anymore. Resulting in this: Could not load file or assembly 'xxx.xxx.Core.UnitTest' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded. So I can't unit test any project less then 4.0? Or am I doing something wrong here?

    Hello, I need to determin the COM component(unmanaged code) type and invoke the exposed interface's methods using reflection in C#.NET at runtime. 1 -- First What member of "Type" tells that type is COM component and we can take CLSID at runtime? Is Type.COMObject? 2 -- I need to call methods of exposed interfaces as they called in unmanaged code using CoCreateInstance by passing CLSID and REFID ... I am using InvokeMember but it returns null or 0 as out parameter. How to pass out parameter in this case.? Is there any need to pass out parameter? As all my COM unamanged code suppose to take las parameter as an OUT parameter and after executing it puts the result into that out param. But I've converted all my unmanged COM code to .NET managed assemblies using tlbimp.exe. Regards Usman

    Hi guys, I'm tring to create a generic collection of dynamic type at runtime of Silverlight application. My code: Type listType = Type.GetType("System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection`1[[" + type.AssemblyQualifiedName + "]], System.Windows, Version=2.0.5.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7cec85d7bea7798e", true); type - is variable of Type type. That Type is creating at runtime. At that code line I've got error: Could not load file or assembly ', Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. How can I resolve that error?

    I have a situation, I am working on a XtraReport where I am pulling some data from table.Now I created a function and passing a parameter at runtime for the report to generate. But when I fire the function event from a Onclick Button the result is perfect but when I fire the same function event on the page load of the ReportViewer ..I do not get the result. About function , i am creating dataset, and adapter with Sqlquery from runtime passing the parameter value from a session in the query and binding the data to the labels. But as I said I want the result on the pageload event of the reportviewer.

    Hello, I need to InterOp Win32 code (unmanaged Win32 DLL's and Exe) completely with .NET. I need to call Win32 unmanaged code(DLL exported functions) at runtime i.e (knowing the types of data types in Win32 signatures and need to pass data according to that type at runtime). This is 100% possible in case of COM. You can convert COM unmanaged code to managed assemblies using tlbimp.exe and use now reflection API to work with those managed types(actual were unmanaged types now converted managed using tlbimp). But same functionality I need to get in terms of Win32(i.e) in .NET framework. How?? I know MS provided Export table reading API ..but I couldn't find exact API for InterOp of Win32 unmanaged code Regards

The image I'm using is simply a 24bpp bitmap I created in Paint (it's just a big white rectangle!), using IronPython 2.6 and on Windows 7 (x64) with .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 installed.

    Hi, I'm getting the error "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: Error executing child request for ChartImg.axd" at runtime from my Chart control. I have read one solution to this error message as documented here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/MSWinWebChart/thread/1dc4b352-c9a5-49dc-8f35-9b176509faa1/ but this does not solve my problem. I have the Chart within a Repeater control, which is within an ajax UpdatePanel. When I take the chart out of the Repeater (but leave it in the UpdatePanel), it works. So I'm thinking it is to do with the Repeater. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance.

  • ColdFusion Server crash after thousands of HTTP requests

    We are running ColdFusion 8 on a windows server 2003 VPS with an API that exposes student records to a partner API through a connector. Our API returns around 50k student records serialized in XML format pretty seamlessly. My question originates when something very frightening happened today when we tested our connector to our partners API. Our entire website and web host went down. We assumed that our host was just having some issues and after 4 hours with no resolution and no response from their customer service we finally got a response from them claiming that they had an "unauthorized user" in their network. After our server was back up we were unable to connect to our website as if the web service or coldfusion itself had froze. This is really where my concern comes from as I fear we may have overloaded the web service. As I mentioned before we tried sending over 50k HTTP POST requests over to our partner's API, however everything stopped after around 1.6k Is this bad practice or is there some sort of rate limiting I can relax somewhere in server configuration? We managed to find a workaround, but it bypasses our connector which is critical to our design. This would have been a one time deal as the purpose of so many requests was to populate our partner's website with current data, after that hourly syncs will keep requests down to around 100 per hour. UPDATE Our partner API is owned and operated by Pardot. We are converting students to prospects by passing student data to their API which unfortunately only seems to accept one student at a time. For that reason we have to do all 50k requests individually. Our server has 4GB of RAM, an Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.8GHz running Windows Server 2003 SP2. I monitored the server during a 100 student sync, a 400 student sync, and a 1.4k student sync with the following results: 100 students - 2.25GB of Memory, 30-40% CPU utilization, 0.2-0.3% network bandwidth 400 students - 2.30GB of Memory, 30-50% CPU utilization, 0.2-1.0% network bandwidth 1.4k students - 2.30GB of Memory, 30-70% CPU utilization, 0.2-1.0% network bandwidth I know this is a far cry from 50k students, but I don't want to risk taking down our CMS system again assuming that was the cause.   • Generating a Call Hierarchy for dynamicly invoked method

    Hello, Today's world of dynamic invoke, reflection and runtime injection just doesn't play well with traditional tools such as ctags, doxygen and CDOC. I am searching for a method call hierarchy visualization tool that can display both static and dynamic method invocations. It should be easy to use, light during execution and provide helpful detailed information about the recorded runtime session. Now I guess Callgrind could be considered a valid solution for the family C. What tool / technique could you suggest to create a call graph for both static and dynamic method invocation for JVM based bytecode? The intended end result is a graphical display (preferably interactive) which can show path from main() to each method that was invoked. During research for this post I stumbled upon javashot, it seems that this is the kind of approach I'm aiming at, I would prefer that this would be integrated into a kind of profiler or alike which than can be used from within my IDE (Eclipse, IntelliJ, Netbeans and alike).   • Java2D OpenGL Hardware Acceleration Doesn't Work

    It doesn't work with OpenGL with even the simplest of programs. Here is what I am doing.. java -Dsun.java2d.opengl=True -jar Java2Demo.jar (Java2Demo.jar is usually included with the JDK..) The text output is: OpenGL pipeline enabled for default config on screen 0 When I don't pass in the above VM argument things work fine (but slowly). When I do pass in the above argument nothing shows up... If I move the window around it captures whatever image it was on top of and jumbles it into nonsense. I'm running Windows XP Pro SP3 (Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]) (under Parallels on OS X 10.5.8) I used "Geeks3D GPU Caps Viewer" to tell me I have Open GL version: 2.0 NVIDIA-1.5.48 I have tried this with two version of the JVM.   • Can a ScatterViewItem dynamically resize to fit its content?

    We're hosting a control inside of a ScatterViewItem that dynamically changes its size at runtime as a result of having various sub-elements added, removed, and/or collapsed. We would like to have the hosting ScatterViewItem resize as well to properly fit its child controls, but we're having a hard time making this happen. We've tried a number of different things and the closest we've come is hooking into the child control's SizeChanged event and explicitly setting the ScatterViewItem's Width and Height, but this approach still has issues. When you define a ScatterViewItem and its content in XAML, the ScatterViewItem is sized appropriately. We would like to force the same behavior at runtime when its content changes size. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    I have a project in which I'd like to use some of the .NET 4.0 features but a core requirement is that I can use the System.Data.SQLite framework which is compiled against 2.X. I see mention of this being possible such as the accepted answer here but I don't see how to actually achieve this. When I just try and run my 4.0 project while referencing the 2.X assembly I get: Mixed mode assembly is built against version 'v2.0.50727' of the runtime and cannot be loaded in the 4.0 runtime without additional configuration information. What "additional configuration" is necessary?

  • What is the best option for reading Java property files?

    Hello I have an application which uses a servlet to read an intialization parameter from web.xml for the location of a property file. The serlvet then creates an instance of a class which stores the location of the file for other programs to read as required. This class has appropriate get and set methods. But my question concerns access to the properties: should the physical property file be read by each program as at runtime or should the properties be stored in memory instead? The properties are not currently altered at runtime but this could change? I've seen various alternative approaches but am not sure which is best. Thanks Mr Morgan

My program goes like MyExcel.Application xl = new MyExcel.Application(); MyExcel.WorksheetFunction wsf = xl.WorksheetFunction; List<int> x = new List<int> { 1, 2, 3, 4 }; List<int> y = new List<int> { 11, 12, 45, 42 }; object o = wsf.LinEst(x, y, true, true); And the namespace is using MyExcel = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel; The program is compiling smoothly but at runtime it is throwing an error {System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80020005): Type mismatch. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80020005 (DISP_E_TYPEMISMATCH)) Actually this is the first time I am using Excel function .. so I am unable to proceed further. If any one has run thru this kind of situation and has solved, please help me. I am using C# 3.0 Thanks

  • CPU and profiling not supported for remote jvisualvm session

    When monitoring a remote app (using jstatd) I can neither profile nor monitor cpu consumption. Heap monitoring (provided I do not use G1) works. jvisualvm provides the message "Not supported for this JVM." in the CPU graph window. Is there anything missing in my setup? The google showed up next to no results.   • Visual Studio 2008 Crashes When Opening Project Properties

    I have a multi-project .NET application which I am developing in Visual Studio 2008. If I try to open the project properties for one of my projects (to change settings or publish) Visual Studio immediately closes. There is no prompt to send a report to Microsoft, and two consecutive errors logged in the Event Viewer: .NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.3053 - Fatal Execution Engine Error (7A035E00) (80131506) .NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.3053 - Fatal Execution Engine Error (7A2E0F92) (0) If I delete all the .user and .suo files in my solution, I can once again publish and access project properties. The error, however, returns over time. This seems to suggest that the .suo or .user files are getting corrupted by Visual Studio. Has anyone else had this issue or know how to fix the problem?

    Hi, My project has a requirement to implement look-ahead caching i.e. triggering another request on invokation of a specific request. The following details in short the implementation - HttpModule parses the SOAPRequest and matches entry in a configuration file for look-ahead candidate. If the request matches, it prepares the Parameters dictionary and starts appropriate workflow. Single workflow runtime is used across all requests is ensured through initializing the runtime instance at Application_Start event and stored in Application Dictionary. Using persistence service and DefaultScheduler service. We can't implement windows service model, as current requirement mandates passing the SOAPRequest parameters as arguments. ManualSchedulerService is not in contention due to synchronous nature of it's actual behaviour. Still the performance is pretty bad and product team is not happy. Can anybody suggest me better solution? Thanks, Samir
