  • Textarea Adding Space To Beginning of Text?

    I'm having a strange problem in that I have php inserting text into a <textarea> and the <textarea> is adding one white space to the top of my text. I created an example page to display the problem... here it the code behind the page. <textarea style="width:600px;height:100px;"><?php get_film_info('main description'); ?></textarea> <br> <textarea id="mainDescription style="width:600px;height:100px;">Text just typed in</textarea> <br> <?php get_film_info('main description'); ?> You can see that without the <textarea> tag, the text does not include the indent. My database also reflects no indent, as well as the php output outside of the <textarea>... Any clue what could be going on? the sample page -J

I'd like to code it so when the combined width of all the headers causes one of them to wrap that the table columns switch to using vertical text (writing-mode: tb-rl).     There is a common feature of modern browsers where a user can select some text and drag it to an input field. Within the same field it causes moving of text, between different fields it does copying. How do I disable that? If there is no portable way, I am mostly interested in firefox. This is an intranet webapp, so I am also interested in modifying the browser/getting a plugin to do this. Maybe some system-level settings (I`m on windows XP)? I need to keep the default select-copy-paste functionality. The background is I have multiple-field data entry forms, and users often drag something by mistake.

    Hello I have problem to put together animations of two separate objects to second one start when first one ends. I tried to use callback but it seems that i make some syntax misteakes which crash jQuery or cause some unexpected behaviour. It seems that i'm stuck so I'd like to ask You for best way to put these animations together to act the way I want. in mouseenter 1st .pp grows, 2nd .tt fade in in mouseleave 1st .tt fade out, 2nd .pp shrink It's alsp relevant that animations doesn't pile up, i mean here animation called by one event doesnt wait until other animation in progress will end.   • Reducing load time, or making the user think the load time is less

    I've been working on a website, and we've managed to reduce the total content for a page load from 13.7MiB's to 2.4, but the page still takes forever to load. It's a joomla site (ick), and it has a lot of redundant DOM elements (2000+ for the home page), and make 60+ HttpRequest's per page load, counting all the css, js, and image requests. Unlike drupal, joomla won't merge them all on the fly, and they have to be kept separate or else the joomla components will go nuts. What can I do to improve load time? Things I've done: Added colors to dom elements that have large images as their background so the color is loaded, then the image Reduced excessively large images to much smaller file sizes Reduced DOM elements to ~2000, from ~5000 Loading CSS at the start of the page, and javascript at the end Not totally possible, joomla injects it's own javascript and css and it does it at the header, always. Minified most javascript Setup caching and gziping on server Uncached size 2.4MB, cached is ~300KB, but even with so many dom elements, the page takes a good bit of time to render. What more can I do to improve the load time?

    I'll try and make this question simple. Can I assign a class to a series of different checkboxes, and use Jquery to do something when any one of those checkboxes is checked? Searching around on the internet I have found documentation on grabbing the name: $('input[name=foo]').is(':checked') but when I swap out the name attribute for the class attr, it won't work! How can I set an event to occur if any of the checkboxes with this certain class is checked? Please help me out! Thanks

But I saw in another theme that it does use list items. By the way, this is what I mean... <div class="post-text"><div> <div class="post-audio"><div> ... or <ul> <li class="post-text"></li> ... </ul> I'm confused on the way I should go - I want to go to the semantic way of doing it because the theme will be built in HTML5.

    I am building a new site which will consist of a mix of dynamic and static pages. I would like to add commenting functionality to those pages with as little work as possible. I'm curious as to whether such a solution exists in PHP. The ideal set of features would be: Completely independent from the surrounding page / site: PHP code gets dropped into page, a page ID is added, done. Simple "write a comment" form Comments for each page are displayed using a PHP function Nice, clean output of <ul><li>.... that can be styled by the surrounding site Optional Captcha Optional Gravatar sensitivity Minimalistic administration area to moderate/delete comments, no ACL, can protect it using .htaccess The ideal integreation would be like this: <?php show_comments("my_page_name"); ?> this would 1. display a form to add a new comment that gets automatically associtated with my_page_name; and 2. display all comments that were made through this form using this ID. Does anybody know a solution like this? Bounty I am setting up a bounty because while there were some good suggestions, they all point to external services. I'm really curious to see whether there isn't anything self-hosted around. If this doesn't exist yet, it sure would be great to see as an Open Source project.

However, I keep getting the value as 'undefined', in spite of entering text into the newly added text box. This does not happen if the form already has a text box to begin with - i.e., if a text box is not being added via a js function. Anything missing / look wrong here? Thanks!

    Currently, the links at the top of my website look like this: However, I am trying to "round" the bottom edges of the buttons to make it look like they are coming out of the page and into the ribbon at the top. I am aware that you can hack it and add a "separator" div with rounded corners between each entry, but this would be difficult to do seeing at the borders used are not all from the same div. Also, it wouldn't be easy seeing as my buttons are very close to each other.     Is there a way in CSS to make the background of an element semi-transparent, but still have the text of the element non-transparent? (Without separating the text and background in two elements positioned over eachother.) I've tried <p style="position:absolute;background-color:green;filter:alpha(opacity=60);opacity:.6;"><span style="color:white;filter:alpha(opacity=100);opacity:1;">Hello world</span></p> But it looks like child elements are subjected to the opacity of their parent(s), so 'opacity:1' is still drawn as 'opacity:.6' from the parent.
