  • Windows DDK development with MinGW?

    - by Rob
Is it possible to develop a Windows driver (specifically a PDF-like printer driver that displays the data on-screen instead of actually printing) without using Visual Studio? I'm thinking of using free C++ tools such as MinGW/gcc.

  • VMware event hooks in .NET

    - by Henry Jackson
I'm developing an in-house .NET application that will be run on a VM (with VMware), and want to know if there's a way to get notifications from VM system events (like suspending, resumed, etc.) Anyone know of a convenient way to do that? The virtual machine has VMware Tools installed, does that provide a .NET API for hooking events?

  • What are MVP and MVC and what is the difference?

    - by Wolfbyte
When looking beyond the RAD (drag-drop and configure) way of building User Interfaces that many tools encourage you are likely to come across 2 design patterns called Model-View-Controller and Model-View-Presenter. My question has two parts to it: What issues do these patterns address? How are they similar? How are they different?

  • Implementing C# for the JVM

    - by Rob
Is anyone attempting to implement C# for the JVM? As a Java developer, I've been eyeing C# with envy, but am unwilling to give up the portability and maturity of the JVM, not to mention the diverse range of tools for it. I know there are some important differences between the JVM and CLR but is there anything that is a showstopper?

  • Is there any analog of TCPvcon which allows to close TCP connection on remote machine?

    - by Miollnyr
Hi, I started to use SysInternals suite, and it is great. But I wonder, whether there is any analog of TCPvcon, which allows to logon to remote machine, like psexec does, and then get list of TCP connections from there (similar to pslist functionality), and then to close some of connections (similar to pskill functionality). I am speaking about windows console tools and I would like to avoid installing something on remote machine is this is possible.

  • What's the best way to implement news system without using wordpress ?

    - by Tristan
Hello, I'm a little afraid of using Wordpress because of his connotation "all made", plus my website is 100% hand coded, actually, i use the phpBB but it's not what I want cause visitors have to go out of the website to go to the forum to see the news. So how/what can I do to have my own news system management (publish/review/moderate comments).... Are there tools (i mean except WYSIWYG) / PHP class I can use to implement myself ? I hope you understand what i mean. Thank you :)
