• ASPX FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage function is not working anymore

  Here is my issue. I have an ASPX web site and I have code in there to redirect from the login page with the call to "FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage(username, false);" This sends the user from the root website folder to 'website/Admin/'. I have a 'default.aspx' page in 'website/Admin/' and the call to redirect works on a previous version of the website we have running currently, but the one that I am updating on a separate test server is not working. It gives me the error "Directory Listing Denied. This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed." I have this in the config file: <authorization> <allow users="*" /> </authorization> under the "authentication" option and... <location path="Admin"> <system.web> <authorization> <deny users="?" /> </authorization> </system.web> </location> for the location of Admin. Also, there is no difference in the code between the web.config, Login.aspx, or the default.aspx files on the current server and the one on the test server, so I am confused as to why the redirect will not work on both. It even works in the Visual Studio server environment, for which the code is also identical. Any suggestions and help is appreciated.

• Using complex data types from Java in Axis webservice

  I am currently developing a Java app which handles a SOAP webservice. The problem lies after I parse the WSDL [the Parser object from Apache Axis does it for me], and I create the call. When I try to invoke it, I have to pass a Object[] to assign the parameters [taken from the Action of the WSDL]. A normal action is easy, but when I have custom datatypes, I can't get it to fill it out for me. I try to pass Object[]{ new Object { }}, but it assigns the first field instead. I can't pass it already processed, because it changes the '< ' to '--lt --gt', and the server doesn't recognize it'. • Java/Spring: Why won't Spring use the validator object I have configured?

  I'm writing a web app with Java & Spring 2.5.6 and using annotations for bean validation. I can get the basic annotation validation working fine, and Spring will even call a custom Validator declared with @Validator on the target bean. But it always instantiates a brand new Validator object to do it. This is bad because the new validator has none of the injected dependencies it needs to run, and so it throws a null pointer exception on validate. I need one of two things and I don't know how to do either. Convince Spring to use the validator I have already configured. Convince Spring to honor the @Autowired annotations when it creates the new validator. The validator has the @Component annotation, like this. @Component public class AccessCodeBeanValidator implements Validator { @Autowired private MessageSource messageSource; Spring finds the validator in the component scan, injects the autowired dependencies, but then ignores it and creates a new one at validation time. The only thing that I can do at the moment is add a validator reference into the controller for each validator object and use that ref directly, instead of relying on the bean validation framework to call the validator for me. It looks like this. // first validate via the annotations on the bean beanValidator.validate(accessCodeBean, result); // then validate using the specific validator class acbValidator.validate(accessCodeBean, result); if (result.hasErrors()) { If anyone knows how to convince spring to use the existing validator, instead of creating a new one, or how to make it do the autowiring when it creates a new one, I'd love to know.

• According to MSDN ReadFile() Win32 function may incorrectly report read operation completion. When?

  The MSDN states in its description of ReadFile() function (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa365467%28VS.85%29.aspx): “If hFile is opened with FILE_FLAG_OVERLAPPED, the lpOverlapped parameter must point to a valid and unique OVERLAPPED structure, otherwise the function can incorrectly report that the read operation is complete.” I have some applications that are violating the above recommendation and I would like to know the severity of the problem. I mean the program uses named pipe that has been created with FILE_FLAG_OVERLAPPED, but it reads from it using the following call: ReadFile(handle, &buf, n, &n_read, NULL); That means it passes NULL as the lpOverlapped parameter. That call should not work correctly in some circumstances according to documentation. I have spent a lot of time trying to reproduce the problem, but I was unable to! I always got all data in right place at right time. I was testing only Named Pipes though. Would anybody know when can I expect that ReadFile() will incorrectly return and report successful completion even the data are not yet in the buffer? What would have to happen in order to reproduce the problem? Does it happen with files, pipes, sockets, consoles, or other devices? Do I have to use particular version of OS? Or particular version of reading (like register the handle to I/O completion port)? Or particular synchronization of reading and writing processes/threads? Or when would that fail? I need to update a MSSQL table call component every 10 minutes based on information from another table call materials_progress I have nearly 60000 records in component and more than 10000 records in materials_progress I wrote an update query to do the job, but it takes longer than 4 minutes to complete execution! It has worked fine on 32 bit Windows but not working on 64 bit Windows 7. Here are the Python modules I have created for testing: test_icon_overlay.py: ( http://mail.python.org/pipermail/python-win32/attachments/20101229/bb8c78a4/attachment-0002.obj ) com server created in Python for icon overlay which adds check mark overlay icon(C:\icons\test.ico) on "C:\icons" folder setup_VI.py: ( http://mail.python.org/pipermail/python-win32/attachments/20101229/bb8c78a4/attachment-0003.obj ) setup file which creates test_icon_overlay.dll for distribution. icons.zip: ( http://mail.python.org/pipermail/python-win32/attachments/20101229/bb8c78a4/attachment-0001.zip ) for testing you should extract icons.zip inside C:\ Icon overlay appears on C:\icons folder when I execute python test_icon_overlay.py on Windows command prompt and restarts explorer.exe. But its not working with the dll file created using setup_VI.py I have created dll file using python setup_VI.py py2exe and then tried to register it using regsvr32 test_icon_overlay.dll. Registration fails with windows error message Error 0x80040201 while registering shell extension. • pushViewController Not Displaying UIView/Nib with tabbar and nav bar

  I'm relatively new to objective c but not programming and am stuck with my iphone app. I created a nav based app with both a navbar and a tab bar controller. I set the tab bar as the root controller. I'm able to switch between each tab without any issues to various UIViews and UITableViews. My issue is that in one of my UITableViews that I call from the TabBarController, didSelectRowAtIndexPath function is suppose to display a new UIView. The below code does not give any errors and runs fine but does not show the new Nib. if(newViewController == nil) { NSLog(@"yes nil"); BookViewController *aNewViewController = [[BookViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"BookOptionView" bundle:nil]; self.newViewController = aNewViewController; [aNewViewController release]; } BookAppDelegate *delegate = (BookAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; [delegate.appNavBar pushViewController:newViewController animated:YES]; Now when I do the below, it works fine but it gets rid of the nav and tab which I'm assuming because its a modal call instead of pushing the view controller. The Data class , contains fileds with many types : int , string , double , Person object and array of Person object. I created the J2ME client code through the wizard and every thing seems ok . I see in the Netbeans project the service and the stub . When I try to call my web service method , say Data GetData() ; Then I have a problem with parsing the returned data from the web service and the client data object . • IoC - Dynamic Composition of object instances

  Is there a way using IoC, MEF [Imports], or another DI solution to compose dependencies on the fly at object creation time instead of during composition time? Here's my current thought. If you have an instance of an object that raises events, but you are not creating the object once and saving it in memory, you have to register the event handlers every time the object is created. As far as I can tell, most IoC containers require you to register all of the classes used in composition and call Compose() to make it hook up all the dependencies. I think this may be horrible design (I'm dealing with a legacy system here) to do this due to the overhead of object creation, dependency injection, etc... but I was wondering if it was possible using one of the emergent IoC technologies. Maybe I have some terminology mixed up, but my goal is to avoid writing a framework to "hook up all the events" on an instance of an object, and use something like MEF to [Export] handlers (dependencies) that adhere to a very specific interface and [ImportMany] them into an object instance so my exports get called if the assemblies are there when the application starts. So maybe all of the objects could still be composed when the application starts, but I want the system to find and call all of them as the object is created and destroyed.

• Objective-C object release and allocation timing

  The code for this question is too long to be of any use. But I'm pretty sure my problem has to do with releasing a class. I have a helper class, ConnectionHelper.h/.m, that handles a NSURLConnection for me. Basically, I give it the URL I want and it returns the data (it happens to do a quick json parse on it too). It has a delegate which I set to the calling class (in this case: DownloadViewController). When it finishes the download, it calls [delegate didFinishParseOf:objectName withDictionary:dictionary];. Then in DownloadViewController I release ConnectionHelper and alloc a new one in order to download the next object. My problem is, I do this once, and then it creates the connection for the second one, and then my program just crashes. After this call: [[NSHTTPCookieStorage sharedHTTPCookieStorage] setCookieAcceptPolicy:NSHTTPCookieAcceptPolicyNever]; NSURLConnection *theConnection=[[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:theRequest delegate:self]; Then I don't think any of the following methods are called: - (NSCachedURLResponse *)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection willCacheResponse:(NSCachedURLResponse *)cachedResponse - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveResponse:(NSURLResponse *)response - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveData:(NSData *)data - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didFailWithError:(NSError *)error - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveAuthenticationChallenge:(NSURLAuthenticationChallenge *)challenge So am I right in that I'm not releasing something? When I release it the first time, the dealloc function isn't being called. Is there a way I can "force" it to deallocate? Do I need to force it to? I didn't think it would matter since I allocating a new ConnectionHelper for the new call. How else would they overlap / conflict with each other? Thank you.

• Oracle performance problems with large batch of XSL operations

  I have a system that is performing many XSL transformations on XMLType objects. The problem is that the system gradually slows down over time, and sometimes crashes when it runs out of memory. It seems that the slow down (and possibly memory crash) is around the dbms_xslprocessor.processXSL function call, which gradually takes longer and longer to complete. • Using kAudioSessionProperty_OtherMixableAudioShouldDuck on iPhone

  Hello, I'm trying to get consistant behavior out of the kAudioSessionProperty_OtherMixableAudioShouldDuck property on the iPhone to allow iPod music blending and I'm having trouble. At the start of my app I set an Ambient category like so: -(void) initialize { [[AVAudioSession sharedInstance] setCategory: AVAudioSessionCategoryAmbient error: nil]; } Later on when I attempt to play audio I set the duck property using the following method: //this will crossfade the audio with the ipod music - (void) toggleCrossfadeOn:(UInt32)onOff { //crossfade the ipod music AudioSessionSetProperty(kAudioSessionProperty_OtherMixableAudioShouldDuck,sizeof(onOff),&onOff); AudioSessionSetActive(onOff); } I call this passing a numeric "1" just before playing audio like so: [self toggleCrossfadeOn:1]; [player play]; I then call the crossfade method again passing a zero when my app's audio completes using a playback is stopping callback like so: -(void) playbackIsStoppingForPlayer:(MQAudioPlayer*)audioPlayer { NSLog(@"Releasing player"); [audioPlayer release]; [self toggleCrossfadeOn:0]; } In my production app this exact code works as expected, causing the ipod to fade out just before playing my app's audio then fade back in when the audio finishes playing. In a new project I recently started, I get different behavior. The iPod audio fades down and never fades back in. In my production app I use the AVAudioPlayer where in my new app I've written a custom audio player that uses audio queues. Could somebody help me understand the differences and how to properly use this API?

• Custom Membership in ASP.NET MVC 2

  Hello, I'm trying to make my Custom Membership starting from ASP.NET's. I have a users table created by me which has as Primary Key a Guid UserId, exactly the sames as ASP.NET's default user and membership table. I have all the Foreign Key relationships built. However, I cannot insert the user into my custom users table. The data gets inserted correctly into the default ASP.NET's tables. I have tried the following scenarios: First version Receive the user model from POST call the CreateUser method of the Membership.class (stuff gets inserted) without modifying the user object, I try to insert it using EF's AddObject I receive the following error: "Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'LoweredUserName', table 'asp.dbo.aspnet_Users'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails.\r\nThe statement has been terminated."} System.Exception {System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException The error actually makes sense as EF's AddObject doesn't know how to create the LoweredUserName value, and I don't want to do it, this is ASP.NET's job. Second version Receive the user model from POST call the CreateUser method of the Membership.class (stuff gets inserted) Get the Guid of the freshly inserted system user get the ASP.NET's User object and overwrite that of user.User get the ASP.NET's Membership object and overwrite that of user.Membership (remember the FKs) try again EF's AddObject new error {"The relationship between the two objects cannot be defined because they are attached to different ObjectContext objects."} System.Exception {System.InvalidOperationException} Don't know what this is, but it certenly doesn't make any sense for me. After some googleing I think that it has something to do with the context, but as I'm a beginner I don't know how to fix it. Any ideeas on how to accomplish this task are more than welcomed, especially if they follow some good practices. Thx

• Problems with MediaPlayer, raw resources, stop and start

  Hello everybody, I'm new in Android development and I have the next question/problem. I'm playing around with the MediaPlayer class to reproduce some sounds/music. I am playing raw resources (res/raw) and it looks kind of easy. To play a raw resource, the MediaPlayer has to be initialized like this: MediaPlayer mp = MediaPlayer.create(appContext, R.raw.song); mp.start(); Until here there is no problem. The sound is played, and everything works fine. My problem appears when I want to add more options to my application. Specifically when I add the "Stop" button/option. Basically, what I want to do is...when I press "Stop", the music stops. And when I press "Start", the song/sound starts over. (pretty basic!) To stop the media player, you only have to call stop(). But to play the sound again, the media player has to be reseted and prepared. mp.reset(); mp.setDataSource(params); mp.prepare(); The problem is that the method setDataSource() only accepts as params a file path, Content Provider URI, streaming media URL path, or File Descriptor. So, since this method doesn't accept a resource identifier, I don't know how to set the data source in order to call prepare(). In addition, I don't understand why you can't use a Resouce identifier to set the data source, but you can use a resource identifier when initializing the MediaPlayer. I guess that I'm missing something. I wonder if I am mixing concepts, and the method stop() doesn't have to be called in the "Stop" button. Any help? Thanks in advanced!!!

• WCF 3.5 - Remove SVC Extension - Special Case

  I have several RESTful endpoints like such: System.Security.Role.svc System.Security.User.svc etc. This is meant to be a namespace so our RESTful URL's would look like: /rest/{class namespace}/{actions} I have tried a few examples to get the SVC extension removed when my endpoint has multiple periods in it, however, nothing seems to work. I have tested with the WCF REST Contrib package (http://wcfrestcontrib.codeplex.com/), this example (http://www.west-wind.com/weblog/posts/570695.aspx), and another StackOverflow post (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/355165/how-to-remove-thie-svc-extension-in-restful-wcf-service). This works great when my endpoint is something like this: Echo.svc It will properly remove the SVC extension. Any ideas on how to handle endpoints with multiple periods in the endpoint name? EDIT: After some further testing, I found out that it is failing because whenever you do: string path = HttpContext.Current.Request.AppRelativeCurrentExecutionFilePath; If the endpoint contains multiple periods, it strips off everything after the endpoint causing all of the standard IHttpModule's to fail. Example: If I call http://localhost/services/Echo/test, my relative app file path has a returned value of: ~/echo/test However, if I make a call as http://localhost/services/System.Security.User/test, then my relative app file path has a returned value of: ~/system.security.user I am missing the '/test' on the end in that situation.

  I have a database table with one field, called ID, being an auto increment integer. Using a TableAdapter I can read and modify existing rows as well as create new ones. However if I try to modify a newly inserted row I get an DBConcurrencyException: OleDbConnection conn = new OleDbConnection(@"Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=Shift.mdb;Persist Security Info=True"); ShiftDataSetTableAdapters.ShiftTableAdapter shiftTA = new ShiftDataSetTableAdapters.ShiftTableAdapter(); shiftTA.Connection = conn; ShiftDataSet.ShiftDataTable table = new ShiftDataSet.ShiftDataTable(); ShiftDataSet.ShiftRow row = table.NewShiftRow(); row.Name = "life"; table.Rows.Add(row); shiftTA.Update(row); // row.ID == -1 row.Name = "answer"; // <-- all fine up to here shiftTA.Update(row); // DBConcurrencyException: 0 rows affected Separate question, is there any static type of the NewShiftRow() method I can use so that I don't have to create table everytime I want to insert a new row. I guess the problem in the code comes from row.ID that is still -1 after the first Update() call. The Insert is successful and in the database the row has a valid value of ID. How can I get that ID so that I can continue with the second Update call? Update: IT looks like this could have been done automatically using this setting. However according to the answer on msdn social, OLEDB drivers do not support this feature. Not sure where to go from here, use something else than oledb? Update: Tried SQLCompact but discovered that it had the same limitation, it does not support multiple statements. Final question: is there any simple(single file based) database that would allow you to get the values of a inserted row.

• what is this internet explorer (javascript?) syntax error -2146827286?

  Hi everyone, So, I've been trying to troubleshoot this bug where some big percentage of windows users who are on my ajax (jquery) web app are not able to play. I haven't been able to reproduce it on my end with a windows 7 IE8 running in a parallels vm. The main problem seems to be in the javascript somewhere because what users are complaining about is an ajax button isn't working. They click it and nothing happens, so either the event isn't firing, or my ajax call is failing, and possibly the return from the ajax could be failing. After trying some ideas, a friend suggested I check out damnit! https://damnit.jupiterit.com/ which will catch exceptions in javascript and email them to you. This is a pretty awesome tool! So, now i have a little more data, but, am stuck. Basically it seems like the majority of the exceptions seem to be complaining about a syntax error. I will paste the samples below. message: Syntax error number: -2146827286 description: Syntax error Browser: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; InfoPath.2; .NET CLR 1.0.3705; OfficeLiveConnector.1.3; OfficeLivePatch.0.0) What's interesting is that the syntax error is consistently occurring in browsers reporting MSIE 8.0 but with windows vista, xp, and below, so older OS with the latest IE. Does anyone know of this error? Could this possibly be some weird slow computer/slow internet connection thing where may be my javascript files aren't fully loaded before I call the functions. I am using the jquery $(document).ready() to wait before I setup anything.

• Flush kernel's TCP buffer with `MSG_MORE`-flagged packets

  send()'s man page reveals the MSG_MORE flag which is asserted to act like TCP_CORK. But on the other hand, thereby the need for an additional system call arises. Thus, the usage of MSG_MORE seems more appropriate to me. I'd simply change the above send() line to: int sent = send(this->fd, buf, len, MSG_NOSIGNAL | MSG_MORE); According to lwm.net, packets will be flushed automatically if they are large enough: If an application sets that option on a socket, the kernel will not send out short packets. Instead, it will wait until enough data has shown up to fill a maximum-size packet, then send it. When TCP_CORK is turned off, any remaining data will go out on the wire. But this section only refers to TCP_CORK. Now, what is the proper way to flush MSG_MORE packets? I can only think of two possibilities: Call send() with an empty buffer and without MSG_MORE being set Re-apply the TCP_CORK option as described on this page Unfortunately the whole topic is very poorly documented and I couldn't find much on the Internet. I am also wondering how to check that everything works as expected? Obviously running the server through strace' is not an option. So the only simplest way would be to usenetcat' and then look at its `strace' output? Or will the kernel handle traffic differently transmitted over a loopback interface?

• LogonUser -> CreateProcessAsUser from a system service

  I've read all the posts on Stack Overflow about CreateProcessAsUser and there are very few resolved questions, so I'm not holding my breath on this one. But it seems like I'm definitely missing something, so it might be easy. The target OS is Windows XP. I have a service running as "Local System" from which I want to create a process running as a different user. For that user, I have the username and password, so LogonUser goes fine and I get a token for the user (in this case, an Administrator account.) I then try to use that token to call CreateProcessAsUser, but it fails because that token does not come with SeAssignPrimaryTokenPrivilege - however, it does have SeIncreaseQuotaPrivilege. (I used GetTokenInformation to dump all the privileges associated with that token.) According to the MSDN page for CreateProcessAsUser, you need both privileges in order to call CreateProcessAsUser successfully. It also says you don't need the SeAssignPrimaryTokenPrivilege if the token you pass in to CreateProcessAsUser() is a "restricted version of the calling process' primary token", which I can create with CreateRestrictedToken(), but then it will be associated with the Local System user and not the target user I'm trying to run the process as. So how would I create a logon token that is both a restricted version of the calling process' primary token, AND is associated with a different user? Thanks! Note that there is no need for user interaction in here - it's all unattended - so there's no need to do stuff like grabbing WINSTA0, etc.

• C# COM objects with VB6/asp error

  I'm trying to expose a C# class library via COM so that I can use it in a classic asp web site. I've used sn - k, regasm and gacutil. About all I can do now though is echo back strings. Methods which take Class variables as input are not working for me. ie my test method EchoPerson(Person p) which returns a string of the first and last name doesn't work. I get a runtime error 5 - Invalid procedure call or argument. Please let me know what I am missing. Also I have no intellisence in VB. What do I need to do to get the intellisence working. • Load external script dynamic, and access it, so I can trigger its domready function

  I am trying to load the Zopim chat client. Normally it is included with a document write action. This causes it to be loaded before the domReady function is triggered, as it needs this to start itself. I want to load it later, and this works by using prototype (framework determined by Magento) to create a new script element and attaching it to the head. The script is loaded perfectly, but the domReady doesn't fire, so the script is never started. The script is a nameless class, by this I mean that all its functions are encapsulated in {} UPDATE: Sorry, I got it wrong, it is as self invoking function, the same syntax as the first answer suggest. (function C(){ })(); This function call when run sets up listening events for the domReady event under various browsers and then waits. When the domready event fires, it calls a function (that is within the self-invoked function) that starts everything. What I need, is a way to access this function somehow. END UPDATE Within that is a function named C. How can I call this function directly? Or put another way, how can I start an external javascript file that depends on domready going off, when that event doesn't happen? Can I load an external javascript file into a variable, so I can name the class? Can I access the nameless class {} somehow maybe via the script tag? Is there a way to alter the external file/javascript so I can have it look for another event, one that I can trigger? About the only solution I can think of at the moment is to create a iframe and load the script in that.

• FancyURLOpener failing since moving to python 3.1.2

  I had an application that was downloading a .CSV file from a password-protected website then processing it futher. I was using FancyURLOpener, and simply hardcoding the username and password. (Obviously, security is not a high priority in this particular instance). Since downloading Python 3.1.2, this code has stopped working. Does anyone know of the changes that have happened to the implementation? • Using Apache Camel how do I unmarshal my deserialized object that comes in through a CXF Endpoint?

  I have a very simple camel route. It starts with a CXF Endpoint exposed as a web service. I then want to convert it to xml and call a method on a bean. Currently i'm getting a CXF specific object after the web service call. How do I take my serialized object out of the CXF MessageList and use it going forward?
