  Hi, I have a table ClassAttendance and I'm using MSSQL 2005 studentID--attendanceDate---------------------------------------status 1004--------2010-03-17--------------------------------------------------0 1005--------2010-03-17--------------------------------------------------1 1006--------2010-03-17--------------------------------------------------0 1007--------2010-03-17--------------------------------------------------0 1004--------2010-03-19--------------------------------------------------0 1005--------2010-03-19--------------------------------------------------1 1006--------2010-03-19--------------------------------------------------0 1007--------2010-03-19--------------------------------------------------0 1004--------2010-03-20--------------------------------------------------1 as you can see studentID is a foreign Key for a table called StudentData and attendedDate has an unknown number of rows. Can i get the output like below by using a query? I need the dates in one month to be columns and the value of the date columns will be values in the status column. The number of date records per studentID is the same its the number of dates in the attendanceDate filed that is unknown. studentID---------2010-03-17--------2010-03-19------2010-03-20 1004-----------------------------0----------------------0--------------------1 etc. This is for a creating a report so I need to do it in a query. Please help if you can.

• Problems getting foreign keys working in MySQL

  I've been trying to get a delete to cascade and it just doesn't seem to work. I'm sure I am missing something obvious, can anyone help me find it? I would expect a delete on the 'articles' table to trigger a delete on the corresponding rows in the 'article_section_lt' table. • HTTP caching confusion

  I'm not sure whether this is a server issue, or whether I'm failing to understand how HTTP caching really works. I have an ASP MVC application running on IIS7. There's a lot of static content as part of the site including lots of CSS, Javascript and image files. For these files I want the browser to cache them for at least a day - our .css, .js, .gif and .png files rarely change. My web.config goes like this: <system.webServer> <staticContent> <clientCache cacheControlMode="UseMaxAge" cacheControlMaxAge="1.00:00:00" /> </staticContent> </system.webServer> The problem I'm getting is that the browser (tested Chrome, IE8 and FX) doesn't seem to be caching the files as I'd expect. I've got the default settings (check for newer pages automatically in IE). On first visit the content downloads as expected HTTP/1.1 200 OK Cache-Control: max-age=86400 Content-Type: image/gif Last-Modified: Fri, 07 Aug 2009 09:55:15 GMT Accept-Ranges: bytes ETag: "3efeb2294517ca1:0" Server: Microsoft-IIS/7.0 X-Powered-By: ASP.NET Date: Mon, 07 Jun 2010 14:29:16 GMT Content-Length: 918 <content> I think that the Cache-Control: max-age=86400 should tell the browser not to request the page again for a day. Ok, so now the page is reloaded and the browser requests the image again. This time it gets an empty response with these headers: HTTP/1.1 304 Not Modified Cache-Control: max-age=86400 Last-Modified: Fri, 07 Aug 2009 09:55:15 GMT Accept-Ranges: bytes ETag: "3efeb2294517ca1:0" Server: Microsoft-IIS/7.0 X-Powered-By: ASP.NET Date: Mon, 07 Jun 2010 14:30:32 GMT So it looks like the browser has sent the ETag back (as a unique id for the resource), and the server's come back with a 304 Not Modified - telling the browser that it can use the previously downloaded file. It seems to me that would be correct for many caching situations, but here I don't want the extra round trip. I don't care if the image gets out of date when the file on the server changes. There are a lot of these files (even with sprite-maps and the like) and many of our clients have very slow networks. Each round trip to ping for that 304 status is taking about a 10th to a 5th of a second. Many also have IE6 which only has 2 HTTP connections at a time. The net result is that our application appears to be very slow for these clients with every page taking an extra couple of seconds to check that the static content hasn't changed. What response header am I missing that would cause the browser to aggressively cache the files? How would I set this in a .Net web.config for IIS7? Am I misunderstanding how HTTP caching works in the first place?

I'd like to use LINQ to create a new List where instead of having the number of buys and sells, I would have one variable containing the sum. For example, if the FillStruct structure has buy = 4 and sell = 2 then the NewFillStruct structure will have numlong = 2. If the FillStruct structure has buy = 2 and sell = 4 then the NewFillStruct structure will have numlong = -2. Visitors are recognized by a unique has storred in a cookie and in the favorites table. I need to alter this query so that I can get just the last months worth of songs. • Syncing with Address Book: Last modified property in ABPerson/ABRecord

  I'm syncing data from the Address Book into a Core Data database and I've nearly got it working perfectly. The only issue remaining is checking for changes and modifications on startup and reflecting the changes inside Core Data. Currently, I simply check the ID of each ABRecord and see if it is already in Core Data. Of course, this only works in the case of new contacts and not changed information inside an existing contact. One solution would be to go through each contact already in the database and check each property against the Address Book. The down side of this is that it's really slow. One method that would work is if the ABRecord had a last modified date. I could then store the date inside the Core Data database and check on startup to see if I need to update the contact. However, I can't find anything like this in the documentation. Any ideas?

  I'm trying to configure the cygwin to work with TWiki, I have to input this in the Cygwin bash shell: mount -b -s c:/... but it doesn't recognize the -s, I already fixed the problem with -b, it changed the syntax and now is mount -o binary for the mount -b part. But now it says unknown option with the "-s" anyone?? help?? or what does the -s mean, so I can look it up :S

• Overwrite values when using gridview Edit?

  I am using a GridView which is bound to a LinqDataSource and using the automatic edit and delete buttons. However, I don't want the user to edit two of the columns manually, but done automatically. Specifically username who last updated the entry, and the date it was updated. The gridview only contains 3 columns: Name, Date modified, last updated by. Right now when the user clicks the edit button they can only edit the name column (other two set to read-only). Upon clicking the update button, I want the other 2 fields to update as well based on some extra code. I thought this was done in the code behind within the event rowUpdating, but it doesn't seem to work. • Delete backup files older than 7 days

  Using osql command, SSQL backup of a database is created. It is saved to Disk. Then renamed to match the date of the day backup was taken. All these files are saved in a single folder all the time. for example: Batch1.bat does the following 1) Created backup.bak 2) renamed to backup 12-13-2009.bak (this is done by the combination of % ~ - etc to get the date parameter) This is now automated to take backup everyday by Task scheduler in Windows. Can the batch file also be modified to delete backup files older than 7 days? if so, how ? If it is not possible via batch file, other than manually deleting the files are there any other alternatives to automate the deleting job ? Thanks in advance, Balaji S

  hey i have the following query: select * from table where table.DateUpdated >='2010-05-03 08:31:13:000' all the rows in the table being queried have the following DateUpdated: 2010-05-03 08:04:50.000 it returns all of the rows in the table - even though it should return none. I am pretty sure this is because of some crappy date/time regional thing. if i swap the date to be select * from table where table.DateUpdated >='2010-03-05 08:31:13:000' then it does as it should. How can i force everything to be using the same settings? this is doing my head in :) This is sql generated by NHIbernate from my WCF service if that matters. w://

  For some reason(Happened before I started working on this project)- my client's website has 2 duplicates of every single file. Effectively tripling the size of the site. The files look much like this: wp-comments-post.php | 3,982 bytes wp-comments-post (john smith's conflicted copy 2012-01-12).php | 3,982 bytes wp-comments-post (JohnSmith's conflicted copy 2012-01-14).php | 3,982 bytes The hosting that the website is on has no access to bash or SSH. In your opinion, what would be the easiest way to delete these duplicate files that would take the least time?

• datetime command line argument in python 2.4

  I want to pass a datetime value into my python script on the command line. My first idea was to use optparse and pass the value in as a string, then use datetime.strptime to convert it to a datetime. This works fine on my machine (python 2.6), but I also need to run this script on machines that are running python 2.4, which doesn't have datetime.strptime. How can I pass the datetime value to the script in python 2.4? If whe are in the summer the table to use for my inner join whould be 'summer09_rooms'. If winter 'winter09_rooms'. So I basicly whant to do a CASE WHEN in my INNER JOIN. How to accomplish this. The query would look like this: SELECT name, arrival_date, departure_date FROM holliday a INNER JOIN ( CASE when arrival_date BETWEEN 2009-10-1 AND 2009-4-1 THEN summer09_rooms b ELSE winter09_rooms b END ) ON a.dossier=b.dossier Of course this query isn't working but now I hope you'l see what I want to accomplish.   Im prety sure i completely removed mysql from my system, except for one thing. When i type mysql in the command line i get this bash: /opt/local/bin/mysql5: No such file or directory How is it still recognizing where it thinks mysql should be? I'm trying to build it myself in /usr/local, and when i do install it there, i still get that error message for it looking for it in opt/local.

  Hi guys, I would like to know if it is possible to re-size and re-position a greybox or shadowbox window to display in a certain div element? I am creating a template for a wordpress site, and I am using the default calendar, but when you click on a date inside of the calendar, the default action is to open it up in a new window. Would it be possible to mod greybox or shadowbox in such a way that when you click on a date, the box opens up over the calendar displaying the contents in it, instead of a new page? Or is there another way of achieving the desired result, maybe with jQuery or Javascript? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanx in advance!
