• Using Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportViewer in a custom SharePoint WebPart

  I have a requirement where I have to display some data (from a custom db) and let the user export it to an excel file. I decided to use the ReportViewer control present in Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportViewer. I added the required assembly to the project references and I add the following code to test it out protected override void CreateChildControls() { base.CreateChildControls(); objRV = new Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportViewer(); objRV.ID = "objRV"; this.Controls.Add(objRV); } The first error asked me to add this line in the web.config which I did and the next error says The type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.Analytics.UI.ReportViewerMessages, Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' does not implement IReportViewerMessages Is it possible to use ReportViewer in my custom Web Part? I rather not bind a repeater and write my own export to excel code. I want to use something which is already built by Microsoft? Any ideas on what I can reuse? I did check my db call and it does return a data table with 15 rows. Any ideas why I don't see anything on the page?

• image filters for iphone sdk development

  Hi All, I am planning to develop an iphone app which makes use of image filters like blurring, sharpening,etc. I noticed that there are few approaches for this one, Use openGL ES. I even found an example code on apple iphone dev site. How easy is openGL for somebody who has never used it? Can the image filters be implemented using the openGL framework? There is a Quartz demo as well posted on apple iphone dev site. Has anybody used this framework for doing image processing? How is this approach compared to openGL framework? Don't use openGL and Quartz framework. Basically access the raw pixels from the image and do the manipulation myself. Make use of any custom built image processing libraries like this one. Do you know of any other libraries like this one? Can anybody provide insights/suggestions on which option is the best? Your opinions are highly appreciated. Thanks!

• VS 2010 VSTO Add in for EXCEL 2007 Won't load

  Hi everyone, We have an application that is built with Excel as the front end using the Office object model. We were using a C++ shim to load it as a COM add in for Excel 2003, but I've updated it to use the latest VSTO for Excel 2007. I've also been using VS 2010 for the latest version. The problem is that everything works great on my dev machine in debugger mode as well as just launching Excel 2007, but I cannot get it to run on any other machine (my current target machine is Win7, development is XP). I've created a ClickOnce deployment of the Addin, and I can see it in the list of COM Addins, but when I check on it to load it nothing happens. I re-open the Addins manager and it is un-checked. I've also tried setting in in the registry, but as soon as I run it, it sets the registry back to do not load. I've tried everything I can think of and searched all over the web but no dice. Any help would be appreciated!

• 500.19 error in IIS7 when an error occurs

  Setup: windows 7, IIS7. I am working on an app that is being viewed through the local IIS server, not the built in debugging web server. There is NO <customErrors> section in my web.config. When an error occurs, i see the following message: HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error Absolute physical path "C:\inetpub\custerr" is not allowed in system.webServer/httpErrors section in web.config file. Use relative path instead. I havent changed any settings of IIS7, so i don't know why this is occurring. • WPF DataGrid ComboBox Column: Propagating Header Combobox throughout column...

  Hey there! Here's my question: I've got a Datagrid in WPF and I have a first column that is a DataGridComboBoxColumn. What I'd like to do is to have a header for that column also with a combobox: altering the header with propagate throughout the column. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing? I'm guessing it's the way I affect each row, but I've tried SelectedValue, SelectedItem and SelectedIndex... all to no avail. Thanks in advance...

• axis2 web service behave differently when tested with web service client or with local test class

  Hello I need to update a facade to some web service proxy classes to a third party web service, and expose them as a service. This for two reason : to maintain the same interface for all application that need to use the system : actually its migrating and there are a few differences in the third party ws (method names); and to expose a simplified interface. The third party has provided me with a manual and some pregenerated proxy classes to their service (the java file says generated with axis2 1,4) . I've used netbeans 6.8 and the axis2 plugin to create an axis2 service . This service contains the proxy classes and the facade class which instantiate the web service proxy and calls its method; the facade class is exposed as service. I've used axis2 1.4 (at beginnig and later 1.5 ) and tomcat 6.0. The first test i did was to call the facede methods from inside the project itself and it worked. Then i've created a new project with a jax-ws web service client to call my class deployed on axis2. At this point has happened two strange thing : In the axis2 services page has appeared the third party proxy class as if it were a new service (if i try to get the wsdl axis raises an error ). eg. the proxy interface is named WebServiceAPI (_stub is the concrete class) and , after the first call to my service , i find a new "WebServicesAPI1272968932531_1" service inside axis . The call obvoiusly fail i've began to sniff soap messages with wireshark and i've found they differs when using proxy classes direclty from my facade test class by the messages created after being deployed on axis. i've noticed they differs for the presence of the soap header in the failing message. any help would be greatly appreciated : maybe i messed up something, there might be some incompatibilities or version mistakes? below i've added the signature of the third party proxy, its impementation and the different soap messages: /* * WebServicesAPI.java * This file was auto-generated from WSDL * by the Apache Axis2 version: 1.4 Built on : Apr 26, 2008 (06:24:30 EDT) */ package com.ibm.eci.wsapi; • Enabling Session State in SharePoint 2010?

  I have a web service built for SharePoint 2007 that I am trying to port to SharePoint 2010. This web service is dependent on session state to function properly, but so far, I have been enable to get session state to work at all in SharePoint 2010. This web service runs as its own web application under t he /_vti_bin virtual directory. I have tried all of the following with no luck: Ensured the "State Service" service application is running. Added the System.Web.SessionState.SessionStateModule http module to my application's web.config file. Added the System.Web.SessionState.SessionStateModule http module to my SharePoint root web.config file. Added <pages enableSessionState="true" /> to my application's web.config file. Added <pages enableSessionState="true" /> to my root web.config file. Additional Environment info: Visual Studio 2008 - SP1 .NET 3.5 - SP1 SharePoint 2010 - RC Windows Server 2008 R2 ASMX web service (not WCF) Had anyone had any luck getting a web application or web service to use session state in SharePoint 2010 yet? • Problem interfacing GSM USB modem to Java application

  I am working on an open-source application called FrontlineSMS which can be interfaced with GSM modems to send and receive SMS. The windows installer that is available through their website works fine. Since i wanted to modify it, I got the source code and built the jar and tried to launch it. When I plug in the GSM modem and launch the application, it sometimes detects the GSM device and i am even able to send and receive SMS. Or else 1.)   I just recently upgraded a VS2008/.NET 3.5 SP1 project to VS2010 and .NET 4. I have a post-build event which calls SGEN to generate the XmlSerializers assembly. Whenever I try to run it I get the following error.   I have a Visual Studio 2010 Windows Forms application in which I start a transaction using the TransactionScope class. I then Receive a message from a Sql Server Broker Services message queue, which works fine. I next try to call a stored procedure from the same database with a call to my data access layer which is a Visual Studio dataset (xsd file). When I make this second call to the database I get the following error message: The MSDTC transaction manager was unable to pull the transaction from the source transaction manager due to communication problems. Possible causes are: a firewall is present and it doesn't have an exception for the MSDTC process, the two machines cannot find each other by their NetBIOS names, or the support for network transactions is not enabled for one of the two transaction managers. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8004D02B). I've seen several posts on the web that talk about Enabling DTC access through dcomcnfg.exe, and allowing DTC to communicate through Windows Firewall. I've done those things, and am still having this problem. I know our remote database server is setup to Enable DTC access, because we are using similar transactions in other projects built with Visual Studio 2008 on Windows XP and Vista. I think there is something specific about Windows 7 and Visual Studio 2010 causing this problem, but haven't been able to find out what it is. Can anyone help with this problem?

• Linking to MSVC DLL from MinGW

  I'm trying to link the LizardTech GeoExpress DSDK into my own application. I use gcc so that we can compile on for platforms. On Linux and Mac this works easily: they provide a static library (libltidsdk.a) and headers and all that we have to do is use them. Compiling for windows isn't so easy. They've built the library using Microsoft Visual Studio, and we use MinGW. I've read the MinGW FAQ, and I'm running into the problems below. The library is all C++, so my first question: is this even possible? Just linking against the dll as provided yields "undefined reference" errors for all of the C++ calls (constructors, desctructors, methods, etc). Based on the MinGW Wiki: http://www.mingw.org/wiki/MSVC%5Fand%5FMinGW%5FDLLs I should be able to use the utility reimp to convert a .lib into something useable. I've tried all of the .lib files provided by LizardTech, and they all give "invalid or corrupt import library". I've tried both version 0.4 and 0.3 of the reimp utility. Using the second method described in the wiki, I've run pexport and dlltool over the dll to get a .a archive, but that produces the same undefined references. BTW: I have read the discussion below. It left some ambiguity as to whether this is possible, and given the MinGW Wiki page it seems like this should be doable. If it is impossible, that's all I need to know. • Resource not found using library project in Android

  I'm converting an existing project into a library project. I configured the original project as a library project and added an application project which references the original project as a library. The library project has an activity (MainActivity) and its layout (main.xml). The application project declares this activity as the main activity in the manifest like this: <activity android:name="com.example.MainActivity" android:label="@string/app_name"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> When I run the application project I get the following error... android.content.res.Resources$NotFoundException: Resource ID #0x7f030002 ...on the following line of the onCreate method of the main activity: setContentView(R.layout.main); 0x7f030002 is the ID of R.layout.main in the library project. The application project has no main resource. If I run the original project I don't get this error. Both projects neither have compilation errors nor warnings and are built with Android 2.2 with min SDK version 3. What might be the problem?

  I have a 64-bit version of llvm-gcc, but I want to be able to build both 32-bit and 64-bit binaries. Is there a flag for this?   I have a List<MyObject> with a million elements. (It is actually a SubSonic Collection but it is not loaded from the database). However, this duplicates objects in memory and is inefficient. I'd like to use the SqlBulkCopy.WriteToServer method that uses an IDataReader instead of a DataTable so that I don't duplicate my collection in memory. What's the easiest way to get an IDataReader from my list? I suppose I could implement a custom data reader (like here http://blogs.microsoft.co.il/blogs/aviwortzel/archive/2008/05/06/implementing-sqlbulkcopy-in-linq-to-sql.aspx) , but there must be something simpler I can do without writing a bunch of generic code. Edit: It does not appear that one can easily generate an IDataReader from a collection of objects. Accepting current answer even though I was hoping for something built into the framework.

• SSRS 2005 Set SimplePageHeaders on the report instead of the server?

  I have one report that does not export to excel friendly from SSRS 2005. I know I can use <Render> <Extension Name="EXCEL" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.ExcelRenderer.ExcelRenderer,Microsoft.ReportingServices.ExcelRendering"> <Configuration> <DeviceInfo> <SimplePageHeaders>True</SimplePageHeaders> </DeviceInfo> </Configuration> </Extension> </Render> in the rsreportserver.config, but I am not the only person with reports on this machine. I also found that you can pass &rc:SimplePageHeaders=True in the url to export the report programatically. I tried adding the &rc:SimplePageHeaders=True to the end of the url when navigating to the report manager, but when I select excel from the dropdown and click export the headers are still exported. I even tried setting the rc:Command=Render and rc:Format=EXCEL in the url too without any luck. Is there a way to do what I am trying to do? note: I am wanting to render the report on the built in report manager and use the build in export to excel dropdown, not in an app or website.

Now I want to join the Pet table like this: Q = Q.Join(DataContext.Pet, _ Function(a) a.c.ChildKey, _ Function(p As Pet) p.ChildKey, _ Function(a, p As Pet) p.ChildKey = a.c.ChildKey) The above Join call doesnt work. I sort of understand why it doesnt work, but hopefully it'll show you how I tried to accomplish this task. After all this was done I would have appended a Select to finish the job. Any ideas on a better way to do this? I tried it with the PredicateBuilder with little success. I might not know how to use it right but it felt like it wasnt gonna handle the joining.

• Silverlight MergedDictionary - Attribute Value out of Range

  Hello All, I have a Silverlight-3 solution that contains a few different projects. I want to have one "common" project for holding controls and resources that will be used by multiple other projects. Within the common project, there is a folder called Resources, which holds a ResourceDictionary (CommonColors.xaml). This is set to be built as a Resource, Do Not Copy. I add a reference to the common project in another project (call it UncommonControls), and attempt to add the ResourceDictionary as a MergedDictionary: <UserControl.Resources> <ResourceDictionary> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="/Common;component/Resources/CommonColors.xaml" /> <ResourceDictionary Source="/UncommonControls;component/Resources/UncommonStyles.xaml" /> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> </ResourceDictionary> </UserControl.Resources> When I try to run, I get an exception: Attribute /Common;component/Resources/CommonColors.xaml value is out of range. [Line: 14 Position: 44] --- Inner Exception --- The given key was not present in the dictionary. However, if I reference a ResourceDictionary local to Uncommon (such as the UncommonStyles.xaml, above) project, which is set up with the same Build properties, it works fine. I haven't seen anything that says SL3 can't reference an external ResourceDictionary (on the contrary, I've seen an example of using one, albeit with no downloadable project to verify the behavior). • Silverlight 4. Activator.CreateInstance uses a huge amount of memory

  Hi, I have been playing a bit with Silverlight and try to port my Silverlight 3.0 application to Silverlight 4.0. My application loads different XAP files and upon a user request create an instance of a Xaml user control and adds it to the main container, in a sort of MEF approach in order I can have an extensible and pluggable application. The application is pretty huge and to keep acceptable the performances and the initial loading I have built up some helper classes to load in the background all pages and user controls that might be used later on. On Silverlight 3.0 everything was running smoothly without any problem so far. Switching to SL 4.0 I have noticed that when the process approaches to create the instances of the user controls using Activator.CreateInstance, the layout freezes unexpectedly for a minute and sometimes for more. Looking at the task manager the memory usage of IE jumps from 50MB to 400MB and sometimes to 1.5 GB. If the process won't take that much the layout is rendered properly and the memory falls back to 50 MB. Otherwise everything crashes due to out of memory exeption. Does anybody encountered the same problem? Or has anybody a solution about this tricky issue? Thans in advance Marco

• How to populate Java (web) application with initial data using Spring/JPA/Hibernate

  I want to setup my database with initial data programmatically. I want to populate my database for development runs, not for testing runs (it's easy). The product is built on top of Spring and JPA/Hibernate. Developer checks out the project Developer runs command/script to setup database with initial data Developer starts application (server) and begins developing/testing then: Developer runs command/script to flush the database and set it up with new initial data because database structures or the initial data bundle were changed What I want is to setup my environment by required parts in order to call my DAOs and insert new objects into database. I do not want to create initial data sets in raw SQL, XML, take dumps of database or whatever. I want to programmatically create objects and persist them in database as I would in normal application logic. One way to accomplish this would be to start up my application normally and run a special servlet that does the initialization. But is that really the way to go? I would love to execute the initial data setup as Maven task and I don't know how to do that if I take the servlet approach. There is somewhat similar question. I took a quick glance at the suggested DBUnit and Unitils. But they seem to be heavily focused in setting up testing environments, which is not what I want here. DBUnit does initial data population, but only using xml/csv fixtures, which is not what I'm after here. Then, Maven has SQL plugin, but I don't want to handle raw SQL. Maven also has Hibernate plugin, but it seems to help only in Hibernate configuration and table schema creation (not in populating db with data). How to do this?

• Does Subversion have an analogue to VSS's links?

  I am migrating a Visual SourceSafe code repository to Subversion and I am running into a problem. Here is a simplified layout of our current source code tree (in VSS): project_root\ |-libs\ |-tools\ |-arch_1\ | |-include | |-source |-arch_2\ |-include |-source My problem is in our two arch_ folders. Each arch_ folder will be built for a different hardware architecture, but the contents of the two folders are practically identical. The files in arch_2 are merely VSS links to the files in arch_1, with only a small handful of exceptions. Work is generally checked into and out of the arch_1 folder, and the VSS links make sure that any code checked in here is updated in the arch_2 folder as well. Moving to Subversion, is there anything that will behave like VSS's links? That is, is there a way to have two files in separate folders magically associated with one another such that they will always be in sync with each other (changes to one will affect the other as well)? Note: I know the correct answer here is to fix the build system. The build system on this project was pieced together roughly a decade ago, back when our compiler/build system wasn't intelligent enough to compile the same folder full of source code for two different architectures. Thanks to make and updated compilers, we can re-write the build system to eliminate this dependency on two parallel source folders. However, this will take time that we don't have at the moment (we are losing our license to our VSS server and are being forced to migrate on rather short notice). I am hoping to find a Subversion solution to this problem because at the moment, our time would be much better spent making the migration run smoothly than re-writing the build system (which is next on my to-do list!). • Android: Map Overlay Labels

  I am building a MapView and I want my custom overlay items to display the name of the location they are marking when the user taps them, like the Android Maps app. I setup the onTap listener and the floating TextView to hold the location name. I still need to set it up so that it redraws the label when the user moves the map, etc. Anyway, I am wondering if I am reinventing the wheel here. Is there a built-in method I am unaware of? I would think that most implementations of MapView have labels. • Mixing Objective-C and C++

  I'm trying to mix together some Objective-C code with C++. I've always heard it was possible, but I've never actually tried it before. When I try to compile the code, I get a bunch of errors. • Jetty and Access Denied

  Hello, I am using several libraries in a maven project and one of these libraries is Jetty (6.1.18). It is a mandatory dependency for an another library. If I run my application from eclipse, with the eclipse classpath which is set by the maven eclipse plugin, all works.
