  • Increased kerning on website text

    We're developing a site for a client right now and my boss (designer only) is once again making me increase letter-spacing on the text so that it looks 'prettier'. I am of the firm belief that this often causes eye-strain and hinders readability in body copy, but being the boss, she is of course always 'right' until I can provide her with examples showing why she's wrong (generally pretty easy). In this case, however, I can't find any articles talking about eye-strain and kerning, so I figured I'd ask what you guys think about the issue of increased letter-spacing in web text. Take a look at http://sparktoignite.com/allograft/process.php and tell me how you feel about the body copy. We're using font-embedding, so you'll only see the proper font in FF, Safari, and Chrome. Let me know what you guys think about the readability and eye-strain caused by the font. My boss currently thinks it's 100% perfect (she wanted the kerning increased further, but I talked her down luckily).

  • Insert HTML on Radio Label on Formtastic

    I have a form that has a radio button on it (Formtastic), and It works just fine with the :collection I'm passing. The problem is I want some part of the text to be affected by some CSS, but the :collection attribute does not let me put in HTML. Is there any way I can modify the way it renders the label, I want to put some css to some part of the label.     I have a cookie which stores info in an array. This is for a classifieds website, and whenever users delete their 'ads' the cookie must also be removed of the ad which was deleted.     Hi, My local airport disgracefully blocks users without IE, and looks awful. I want to write a Python scripts that would get the contents of the Arrival and Departures pages every few minutes, and show them in a more readable manner. My tools of choice are mechanize for cheating the site to believe I use IE, and BeautifulSoup for parsing page to get the flights data table. Quite honestly, I got lost in the BeautifulSoup documentation, and can't understand how to get the table (whose title I know) from the entire document, and how to get a list of rows from that table. Any ideas? Adam

    Hi guys. I'm creating a page that searches for an item and then be able to edit/update it. I was able to do it when it returns just one result but when it gives me multiple results I could only edit the very last item.   • Selectively allow unsafe html tags in Plone

    I'm searching for a way to put widgets from several services (PicasaWeb, Yahoo Pipes, Delicious bookmarks, etc.) on the community site I host on Plone (currently 3.2.1). I'm looking for a way to allow a group of users to use dangerous html tags. There are some ways I see, but I don't know how to implement those. One would be changing safe_html for the pages editors own (1). Another would be to allow those tags on some subtree (2). And yet another finding an equivalent of "static text portlet" that would display in the middle panel (3). We could then use some of the composite products (I stumbled upon Collage and CMFContentPanels), to include the unsafe content on other sites. My site has been ridden by advert bots, so I don't want to remove the filtering all together. I don't have an easy (no false positives) way of checking which users are bots, so deploying captcha now wouldn't help either. The question is: How to implement any of those solutions? (I already asked that on plone mailing list without an answer, so I thought I would give it another try here.)
