• OAuth Callback procedure for mobile devices

  Hello, I am designing a Netflix Application for BlackBerry mobile devices. I am currently working on the OAuth. I am at the point where I can generate a Netflix login page in an embedded browser field in my application. After the user signs in, Netflix will send the user from the login page to a specified callback url. The callback url will also contain an authorized token, which is then needed to send back to Netflix. My question is: How am I supposed to do this on a mobile device? Is there a procedure set in place? I am unsure how I can extract the authorized token from the callback URL and send it back to my application. From my research, it does not appear that Netflix will provide a PIN/verifier for the user to then type into the application... Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks...

• What is causing a Hibernate SQL query exception?

  Hi all and sorry in advance for this post but I've spent way too much time going around in circles so I'm hoping someone could shed a light on it here for me. I updated a webapp on Tomcat and I'm getting the following error which didn't exist on the previous version. Though I am quite confident that the part of code I modifed isn't to blame as I have tested the app on two different dev servers. The production server is configured thus: CentOS 5.4 virtual server with tomcat 5.5.23 running mysql 5.0.77. The two dev servers are: Windows XP SP2 running tomcat 5.5.23 with mysql 5.1.49 Mac OSX 10.6.6 Running tomcat 6 with mysql 5.1.51 The application was developed using struts (1.1 as far as I can gather) with hibernate 3 as the peristence layer. It only fails on the production server for some reason I can't fathom. I'd like to draw your attention to the java.sql.SQLException near the bottom. After some long searching I found this but because it was posted years ago (about 1 year before development started on this app I'm sure Hibernate has evolved from that version. as I can't find a way of implementing his solution. I use Eclipse Helios as an IDE. • Build Procedure

  Hi all, My company is putting auto build and deploy procedure in place. What we are doing now is checking out source code from svn and specify the source folder in Ant script. Is it the right way? Can we omit the exporting process and build directly from SVN? Another question is to do with versioning. At the moment, we are creating a tag whenever there is a release and then use the tag number to name the build product, which will be shipped to a client's site. I've done search on the Internet and here and it seems the correct way to name a product is like this: x.y.z.revision. However, our company is quite small and the client always want quick changes and releases. I would like to know what the drawbacks of only using tag number to name the product? • Can't access stored procedure from entities

  Hello I'm using entity framework that came with 3.5sp1. And in visual studio I have imported function so it shows under "Function Imports" in the "Model Browser". I have assigned all rights to the user that connects to the database. But it doesnt show in the intellisense when I type "_entities.", only my other entities shows there. I opened the designer file and couldnt find it there either..... The stored procedure should return a scalar datetime value, and not an "entity" What might be wrong here? /M

  I see that with SQL Server 2005 you can pass a parameter as numeric e.g. create procedure dbo.TestSP @Param1 numeric as But what does this equate to? E.g. Numeric(10,0), Numeric(9,2), etc? We have some Developers here who are using this instead of the correct definition for the field that this parameter is going to be used against e.g. instead of using Numeric(10, 0) for the parameter @Param1. Also are there any underlying performance issues with using Numeric instead of the data type defined against the field in the table? Many thanks.

• jQuery-AJAX to rebind dropdown list to results from stored procedure

  I have a dropdown list of peoples names that is quite long. As many as 2,000 names. I would like to make it easier to find the name the user is interested in by limiting the dropdown list to a subset of names at a time. I have done this by creating a series of 26 links (A, B, C ... Z) that call a method in the code behind that populates the dropdown list with only those names starting with the letter the user clicked. This all works well but I would like to be able to use AJAX to accomplish this update of the dropdown list without a page refresh. I would like to use jQuery for the AJAX functionality rather than ASP.NET AJAX. My problem is I am not sure how to execute the stored procedure and then "rebind" the dropdown list with the new dataset via jQuery AJAX. Any suggestions or resources that might provide and example or walk-through? Thank you.

Can anybody give me a query that would return the right order of creation of those items based on their dependencies ? I read here that there are tools that can do the job, but I am looking for something scriptable. Also, they often give the dependencies of one object and I would like a database-wide solution.   As I had feared some of our old VB6 projects are not playing nice with Windows 7. Some of our customers have already upgraded and our one product is returning this error every time you run the executable: The procedure entry point_except_handler4_common could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll First thing I tried was creating a .local in the folder so it uses all the DLL and OCX files packaged with the product. That didn't do anything, though I'm not sure if this .local trick still works in Win7. Tried turning on compatibility for several previous versions of Windows, that had no effect either. Hopefully someone else has some more suggestions, as my Google-Fu has failed me on this one.

The problem I have is that I don't know how to somehow mark the object for deallocation once extproc has done marshalling it. The object remains in extproc's memory forever making it grow in memory consumtion. There is a subroutine in the program called "Prepare Copy", which looks like this: Public Sub PrepareCopy() Set CopiedShapes = New Collection End Sub Where CopiedShapes is dimmed out as a VB6 Collection. That code is now kicking out a Runtime Error 5 -- Invalid Procedure Call or Argument. It appears from the interstitial debugging code that the error arises between the Public Sub PrepareCopy() and the Set CopiedShapes = New Collection lines. That's right. The VB6 error is happening between two lines of my code. I can think of no other explanation for this. It's behaving this way on my development machine and two client computers. It is only happening in runtime code, and does not appear to make a difference whether I compile it or use P-Code What I'm asking for here is speculation as to what causes this sort of thing to happen.

  Hello, I writing an application using Oracle 10g. I am currently facing this problem. I take in "filename" as parameter of type varchar2. A sample value that filename may contain is: 'TEST || to_char(sysdate, 'DDD')'. In the procedure, I want to get the value of this file name as in TEST147. When i write: select filename into ffilename from dual; I get the value ffilename = TEST || to_char(sysdate, 'DDD') whick makes sense. But how can I get around this issue and invoke the function in the string value? Help appreciated. Thanks.

  Ok, using SQL Server 2008. On my web page I have a textbox with jQuery-UI AutoComplete hooked up. Now I need a stored procedure to search across all columns of a single table(or multiple joined tables I suppose) for a search string coming from the textbox/autocomplete AJAX call, and return "suggested" search strings. I am using the AdventureWorks db for testing(Products table) So for example, the product table has columns for product name and product number(among others) and I want to return suggested search strings based on user input where they may enter a product name and/or a product number. I have it working across a single column which was simple. Any ideas?

• VS 2008 - Procedure to ship C#/WPF solution to ensure compatibility

  I am attempting to collaborate on a C#/WPF project with another developer remotely via e-mail; and although the code compiles perfectly when it leaves, my collaborator has not been able to compile the code on his side. We are both using VS 2008 Version 9. This is the first time trying to work with someone else on an application and I was hoping that someone would advise me if there are any suggestions to obtain and ensure compatibility between the two of us? Additionally, is there a recommended procedure to prepare the solution for shipment (ie. just zip up the solution folder? export the application? etc.)? Thanks very much.

• Stored procedure called from C# executes 6 times longer than from SQL Management studio

  I have search stored procedure which is my performance bottleneck. In order to get control about what is happened, I added logging for all parameters and also execution time in SP. I noticed, that when I call SP from MIcrosoft SQL server management Studio execution time is 1.3-1.6 seconds, but when i call it from C#, it takes 6-8 secods (!!!) Parameters | Time (ms) "tb *"TreeType:259Parents:212fL:13;14fV:0;lcid:2057min:0max:10sort:-1 | 6406 "tb *"TreeType:259Parents:212fL:13;14fV:0;lcid:2057min:0max:10sort:-1 | 1346 SP is called with LINQ. Login settings are same. SP uses full text search What could cause this?

  In VB6, users occasionally receive this error and I am unable to reproduce it. Run-Time Error '5': Invalid Procedure Call or Argument I am referencing the "MSWord 10 Object Library" and sometimes this error occurs at some point after the application has opened MSWord 2002. However, this app has referenced the MSWord 10 Object Library for years, and this error just started occurring in the last few months. I am assuming I have introduced a bug somewhere, but no idea what might be causing it. The error does not occur very often and cannot be reproduced by a user when I am standing there. The error forces the app to totally shut down. Users are running Windows XP
