  • What tools do you use to share knowledge amongst developers in your company?

    I'm looking for some good tools that help to share tips, best practices, company standards, etc. amongs developers in my company. Two tools I'm currently considering are a wiki (screwturn wiki) or Sharepoint 2010. I'm wondering if there is something better suited to the task, or any input anyone has on this subject. I'd prefer something that's windows based (i.e. runs on IIS, can authenticate users against Active Directory etc) but I am open to anything.

  • Sharepoint Web Part validation set off by Publishing Controls

    I have a web part which uses validation on a textbox field to prevent submission of an empty field. When clicking on Check In to Share Draft or Publish, this validation is done, and since I am not actually trying to submit the form, but rather check it in, I'd rather this didn't happen. How can I achieve this?     My ovpn client, 32-bit OpenVPN 2.1.1 on 64-bit Windows 7 Pro, cannot accept routes pushed to it by my remote endpoint ovpn server. This happens even if I invoke OpenVPN as a member of Administrators, and whether or not I've specified script-security 2 (as suggested by [this question][2]).   • Solr error; JNDI not configured for solr; Anybody know what this means?

    I am installing solr on my VPS (Ubuntu 9.10) via PuTTY. First, I thought about installing Solr with Tomcat, but then after installing tomcat, I changed my mind and went for the Jetty which comes with Solr. Now that I have setup everything on my Server, and try to start the "start.jar" file, I get some errors...   • Squirrelmail receiving duplicate emails

    A client of mine is experiencing issues with his email, it appears that whenever he receives email from a certain domain it comes as duplicates. Not only are they duplicates but the duplicated items have a (+) sign next to them which usually indicates an attachment. Could this be because of a forwarding issue?   • Missing fields in editform for SharePoint document library

    I have a document library, where one of the columns does not show up in the edit and new form. How do I get back in the forms, so that the users can edit (and create) items including this column/field. The field is perfectly visible in "datasheet" mode where you can edit too but I would love to have the forms back in order :o)

  • SharePoint MySite - Purge newsfeed activity?

    After setting up User Profile sync with AD I've noticed that the newsfeed section of each user's MySite is now flooded with lots of random notes detailing changes that have been pulled in about their (and their contacts') profiles. Is there anyway to purge this activity and stop updates from the sync service getting listed on the newsfeed? Our users are likely to find it strange getting updates about changes to their own profiles that they didn't make themselves.

  • ms excel 2010 in windows xp - when open workbook the data is formatted differently than when i saved it

    I haven't been able to find an answer to this. I have multiple files that I use regularly in excel that now have cell formats of "date". Every single cell in the entire workbook (all sheets) is now formatted as "date". The problem is that I lost my formatting for percents, numbers years, etc and now everything is converted to date (xx/xx/xxxx). I am able to open previously saved versions of a file (prior to me having the problem) and the cells are formatted as I intend them to be (percents, numbers, general, as well as dates). Since this has happened on a couple different files recently, I am wondering how this is happening and how do I prevent it from happening in the future. I cannot cure the problem just by highlighting the entire sheet and converting back to general because I lose all my percents and number formatting.   • Delphi 2010 differs in Canvas transparency compared to Delphi 7?

    I'm porting some very old code from Delph7 to Delphi2010 with a few changes as possible to the existing code base for the usual reasons. First: the good news for anyone who hasn't jumped yet: it's not as daunting as it may look! I'm actually pleased (& surprised) at how easy 1,000,000+ lines of code have moved across. And what a relief to be back on the leading edge! Delphi 2010 has so many great enhancements. However, I'm having a cosmetic problem with some TStringGrids and TDbGrids descendants. In the last century (literally!) someone wrote the two methods below. The first method is used to justify text. When run in Delphi 2010, the new text and the unjustified text to both appear in the cells written to. Of course it's a mess visually, almost illegible. Sometimes, as a result of the second method is use, the grid cells are actually semi-transparent, with text from the window below showing through. (Again, not pretty!) It appears to me that Delphi 2010's TDbGrid and TStringGrid have some differences in the way they handle transparency? I haven't much experience in this area of Delphi (in fact, I have no idea what the 2nd method is actually doing!) and was hoping someone could give me some pointers on what's going on and how to fix it.   • How do I get folder size with Exchange Web Services 2010 Managed API?

    I'm attempting to use EWS 2010 Managed API to get the total size of a user's mailbox. I haven't found a web service method to get this data, so I figured I would try to calculate it. I found one seemingly-applicable question on another site about finding mailbox sizes with EWS 2007, but either I'm not understanding what it's asking me to do, or that method just doesn't work with EWS 2010. Noodling around in the code insight, I was able to write what I thought was a method that would traverse the folder structure recursively and result in a combined total for all folders inside the Inbox: private int traverseChildFoldersForSize(Folder f) { int folderSizeSum = 0; if (f.ChildFolderCount > 0) { foreach (Folder c in f.FindFolders(new FolderView(10000))) { folderSizeSum += traverseChildFoldersForSize(c); } } folderSizeSum += (int)f.ManagedFolderInformation.FolderSize; return folderSizeSum; } (Assumes there aren't more than 10,000 folders inside a given folder. Figure that's a safe bet...) Unfortunately, this doesn't work. I'm initiating the recursion with this code: Folder root = Folder.Bind(svc, WellKnownFolderName.Inbox); int totalSize = traverseChildFoldersForSize(root); But a Null Pointer Exception is thrown, essentially saying that [folder].ManagedFolderInformation is a null object reference. For clarity, I also attempted to just get the size of the root folder: Console.Write(root.ManagedFolderInformation.FolderSize.ToString()); Which threw the same NPE exception, so I know that it's not just that once you get to a certain depth in the directory tree that ManagedFolderInformation doesn't exist. Any ideas on how to get the total size of the user's mailbox? Am I barking up the wrong tree?

  • Event receiver on Content Type not triggered on WikiPageLibrary

    Hello all, I created a new content type for a wiki page library. I added this content type to library by code (the interface did not allow this). Next, I added an event receiver to this content type (on ItemAdded and ItemAdding). My problem is that no event is trrigered. If I add this events directly to the wiki page library all works fine. Is there a limitation/bug/trick ?   • SharePoint: Problem with BaseFieldControl

    Hi All, In below code in a Gird First column is BaseFieldControl from a column of type Choice of SPList. Secound column is a text box control with textchange event. Both the controls are created at rowdatabound event of gridview. Now the problem is that when Steps: 1) select any of the value from BaseFieldControl(DropDownList) which is rendered from Choice Column of SPList 2) enter any thing in textbox in another column of grid. 3) textchanged event fires up and in textchange event rebound the grid. Problem: the selected value becomes the first item or the default value(if any). but if i do not rebound the grid at text changed event it works fine.   • Windows Phone 7 Connect to SharePoint via SOAP

    I am making my second application for the Windows 7 Phone Series platform and I cannot seem to connect to a SharePoint server using https. 99% of the following is not my code. I have borrowed it from http://blog.daisley-harrison.com/blog/post/Practical-Silverlight-and-SharePoint-Integration-Part-Two.aspx untill I can further understand how SOAP works in W7P Series. I know that I need some way of sending credentials over but the win 7 API does not seem to let you. If you dig down into the error output it says access is denied. I have tried various methods of sending credentials but none seem to work. "ClientCredentials.Windows" is not supported and ClientCredentials.UsersName.Username is read only.
