• My internet speed became slow at night

  My internet plan is 512kbps unlimited and I get speed of average 64kbps but at night I used to get speed of 112kbps ..but recently my speed got normal like day time ...as per my view usually at night their is less traffic so I should get good speed like before ... Due to good speed I download and upload at night and my average download+upload per month is 60gb or 70gb... Is it that my ISP people putting restriction on my download and uploads.. I am confused.

  While doing a kernel backup of an mtd (Memory Technology Device) from /dev/mtd/mtd3ro of a TI board gives many "BCH decoding failed", Here are system info #cat /proc/mtd dev: size erasesize name mtd0: 00080000 00020000 "X-Loader" mtd1: 00140000 00020000 "U-Boot" mtd2: 000c0000 00020000 "U-Boot Env" mtd3: 00500000 00020000 "Kernel" mtd4: 1f880000 00020000 "File System" here is the method used, dd if=/dev/mtd/mtd3ro of=/data/local/tmp/mtd3.bin doing a cat also returns the same error, and here is the error, BCH decoding failed BCH decoding failed yes, the destination has enough space ;) tell me what do you think?   The Indexing Service filter daemon keeps crashing on my Windows XP Pro machine, with the following error message: Indexing Service filter daemon has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Not a big deal, I can click "Don't Send Error Report" all day. But what's going on, here? Is this a service that I need? Is the frequent crashing indicative of something worse that's happening behind the scenes?

Basically the structure of my App looks like this Headdirectory -- -APPBase -SomeMoreStuff -WWWDirectory .htaccess So i need to redirect into the WWWDirectory when i open the Headdirectory. In Apache its done with a htaccess and the following Content : RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^(.*) www/$1 I already tried in Nginx : location /Headdirectory { rewrite ^/(.*) /www/$1; } And i tried to create an Alias but that didnt work...   I have been asked to do some investigation regarding an emergency website response scenario, a critical situation that would bring quintuple website traffic to 30K visits a day for a few days. No one wants to use our current CMS for this, but rather WordPress or something else. The obvious, a static HTML page is out. I have a separate research track for optimizing WP, so my question is, is there a hosted, easy to use CMS that can handle huge traffic? Like Squarespace but for enterprise.

• How do I exclude an Outlook folder form Windows Search Index in Windows 7?

  I have a pretty big (~30GB) email archive (Outlook + Exchange: .ost file) and I would like to use the Outlook Search Feature (Windows Search technology). I would like to exclude some folders from the indexing (at least the "spam" folder!) but it seems there is no option for that in the standard configurations. Is there any other way (registries, etc) that can I accomplish this? I am using Windows 7 and Outlook 2007. Thanks!

• Can I increase Windows 7 start menu vertical size to let mire items fit in it?

  I hate putting shortcuts/files on desktop as well as crawling through "All Programs" menu any frequently (and I only pin some essential every-day applications to the task bar). So, I put all the programs I occasionally use to the start menu itself (above the automatic recently used programs section). But even though I've switched it to use small icons, I run out of vertical space in it (just about 16 shortcuts fit there at maximum).

  I have a Windows 7 computer which have a strange behavior: when preview is enabled in explorer, I double-click on any Word document, Word is launched, the document is loaded, and immediatly explorer is in the foreground window (so Word is in the background). The whole process take less than one second. Only with Word. Not Excel or anything. Only on one computer (5 others are identical and installed the same day).

  have a terminal server 2003 that about 50users can use, users are saving documents on the desktop, today users complain that documents on the desktop is missing, no upgrades or changes has been done the error is that the server reverted to load items the folder name "Desktop" instaed of using the local language "Skrivbord" (swedish for desktop) So the files are still on the server located under the users swedish folder name, but server does not load it, server however does load files located under the English folder name how can the terminal server from one day to another just change from where it loads the user profile desktop files?

• Getting SEC to only monitor latest version of a log file?

  I have been tasked with running SEC to help correlate PHP logs. The basic setup is pretty straightforward, the problem I'm having is that we want to monitor a log file whose name contains the date(php-2012-10-01.log for instance). How can I tell SEC to only monitor the latest version of the file(and of course switch to the newest log file every day at midnight) I could do something like create a latest version of the file that links to the latest version and run a cron job at midnight to update the link, but I am looking for a more elegant solution

• Default setting for dual monitors (using Win+P)

  I have two displays (one monitor and one TV) connected to my card via DVI. I switch between them with Win+P (when I'm using XBMC I set "only projector"). Most of the time, I use it during late hours, so I just turn off the PC (with XBMC's option "shutdown") and go to sleep. All fine, but on the next day my display is changed (to "only projector"). Bottom line is - how can I set my Windows 7 to have "only monitor" each time system boots?

  I have a self hosted server with Apache2 pointed with the domain example.com. I have also some virtual servers www.example.com, cloud.examle.com, etc. This server is in my LAN, and when I try to acces to my server within the lan throw www.examle.com y get my router's configuration page. From outside the LAN www.example.com and cloud.examle.com works properly. From inside the LAN 192.168.1.33 (server internal IP) shows the default webpage (www.examle.com), but I can not get cloud.examle.com I also have a LAN name server in 192.168.1.33 with bind9. I set up my gateway 192.168.1.1 with my LAN-NS as primary NS I solve this problem creating a new dns zone in the NS. This are my config files: ;ZONE-1 $ORIGIN . $TTL 86400 ; 1 day home.lan.   Problem: I want to make sure that a certain folder is equal regarding it's contents across my servers. I do not want an automatic filesync to keep them equal, changing is done manually. My initial thought was to once a day calculate some crc/hash on folder and send to Zabbix, and trigger when values differ. Is there any good tools out there that can calculate crc or similar of a folder? Anyone know of another solution that solves my problem?

  Has anybody who administers email servers or spam filtering noticed that in last couple of weeks the spam volume has dropped significantly? Is there a chart provided by one of the major spam filtering companies? Edit: Based on our internal stats, although it varies, on the two weeks starting the day after Christmas (Sunday), spam seems to be coming in about half as much as it did before Christmas.
