• Link Error : xxx is already defined in *****.LIB :: What exactly is wrong?

  Problem: I'm trying to use a library named DCMTK which used some other external libraries ( zlib, libtiff, libpng, libxml2, libiconv ). I've downloaded these external libraries (*.LIB & *.h files ) from the same website. Now, when I compile the DCMTK library I'm getting link errors (793 errors) like this: Error 2 error LNK2005: __encode_pointer already defined in MSVCRTD.lib(MSVCR90D.dll) LIBCMTD.lib dcmmkdir Error 3 error LNK2005: __decode_pointer already defined in MSVCRTD.lib(MSVCR90D.dll) LIBCMTD.lib dcmmkdir Error 4 error LNK2005: __CrtSetCheckCount already defined in MSVCRTD.lib(MSVCR90D.dll) LIBCMTD.lib dcmmkdir Error 5 error LNK2005: __invoke_watson already defined in MSVCRTD.lib(MSVCR90D.dll) LIBCMTD.lib dcmmkdir Error 6 error LNK2005: __errno already defined in MSVCRTD.lib(MSVCR90D.dll) LIBCMTD.lib dcmmkdir Error 7 error LNK2005: __configthreadlocale already defined in MSVCRTD.lib(MSVCR90D.dll) LIBCMTD.lib dcmmkdir Error 8 error LNK2005: _exit already defined in MSVCRTD.lib(MSVCR90D.dll) LIBCMTD.lib dcmmkdir Documentation: This seems to be a popular error for this library so, they do have a FAQ entry addressing this issue which ( http://forum.dcmtk.org/viewtopic.php?t=35 ) says: The problem is that the linker tries to combine different, incompatible versions of the Visual C++ runtime library into a single binary. This happens when not all parts of your project and the libraries you link against are generated with the same code generation options in Visual C++. Do not use the /NODEFAULTLIB workaround, because strange software crashes may follow. Fix the problem! DCMTK is by default compiled with the "Multithreaded" or "Multithreaded Debug" code generation option (the latter for Debug mode). Either change the project settings of all of your code to use these code generation options, or change the code generation for all DCMTK modules and re-compile. MFC users beware: DCMTK should be compiled with "Multithreaded DLL" or "Multithreaded DLL Debug" settings if you want to link the libraries into an MFC application. Adjust the settings for all the projects to use the very same flavour of the library and the issue should go away Questions: Till now I used to think that Name mangling is the only problem that may cause linking failures if its not been standardized. Just now I knew there are other things also which can cause same effect. Whats up with the "Debug Mode" (Multi-Threaded Debug) and "Release Mode" (Multi-Threaded)? What exactly is happening under the hood? Why exactly this thing is causing linking error? I wonder if there is something called "Single-Threaded Debug" and "Single-Threaded" which again causes the same thing. Documentation talks something about "Code Generation Options". What Code Generation Options? WTH are they? Documentation specifically warns us not to use /NODEFAULTLIB workaround. (example /NODEFAULTLIB :msvcrt ). Why? How would I cause troubles? what exactly is it? Please explain the last point in the documentation for MFC users. Because I'm going to use MFC later in this project. Explain Why should we do it? What troubles would it cause if I don't. Anything more you'd like to mention? I mean regarding similar errors. I'm very interested in Linker & its problems. So, if there are any similar things you can mentions them or some keywords atleast.

• Yet another Ant + JUnit classpath problem

  Hi, I'm developing an Eclipse SWT application using Eclipse. There are also some JUnit 4 tests, which test some DAO's. But when I try to run the tests via an ant build, all of the tests fail, because the test classes aren't found. Google brought up about a million of people who all have the same problem, but none of their solutions seem to work for me -.- . Maybe this is important too: At first Ant complained that JUnit wasn't in its classpath, but since I put it there (with the eclipse configuration editor) it complains about JUnit being in its classpath twice. • Actionscript base class in Flex AIR app

  I'm trying to build a Flex AIR app using Flex Builder 3, which I'm just getting started with. In Flash CS4, there's a text field in the authoring environment where you can specify a class that will become the "base" class - your class inherits from Sprite and then "becomes" the Stage at runtime. Is there a a way to do the same thing with Flex/AIR? Failing that, can anyone explain how to create and use an external class? Originally I had this in TestApp.mxml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <mx:WindowedApplication xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute"> <mx:Script source="TestApp.as"/> </mx:WindowedApplication> And this in TestApp.as: package { public class TestApp { public function TestApp() { trace('Hello World'); } } } That gives the error "packages cannot be nested", so I tried taking out the package statement: public class TestApp { public function TestApp() { trace('Hello World'); } } That gives an error "classes cannot be nested", so I finally gave up and tried to take out the class altogether, figuring I'd try to start with a bunch of functions instead: function init() { trace('Hello World'); } But that gives the error "A file found in a source-path must have an externally visible definition. If a definition in the file is meant to be externally visible, please put the definition in a package". I can't win! When I put my class in a package, it says I can't do that because it would be nested. When I don't, it says it needs to be in a package so it can be seen. Does anyone know how to fix this? If I can't do the custom-class-as-base-class thing, is there a way I could just have it like: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <mx:WindowedApplication xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute"> <mx:Script source="TestApp.as"/> <mx:Script> var app = new TestApp(); </mx:Script> </mx:WindowedApplication> At the moment I can't import the class definition at all, so even that won't work. • How to use Crtl in a Delphi unit in a C++Builder project? (or link to C++Builder C runtime library)

  I have a Delphi unit that is statically linking a C .obj file using the {$L xxx} directive. The C file is compiled with C++Builder's command line compiler. To satisfy the C file's runtime library dependencies (_assert, memmove, etc), I'm including the crtl unit Allen Bauer mentioned here. unit FooWrapper; interface implementation uses Crtl; // Part of the Delphi RTL {$L FooLib.obj} // Compiled with "bcc32 -q -c foolib.c" procedure Foo; cdecl; external; end. If I compile that unit in a Delphi project (.dproj) everthing works correctly. If I compile that unit in a C++Builder project (.cbproj) it fails with the error: [ILINK32 Error] Fatal: Unable to open file 'CRTL.OBJ' And indeed, there isn't a crtl.obj file in the RAD Studio install folder. There is a .dcu, but no .pas. Trying to add crtdbg to the uses clause (the C header where _assert is defined) gives an error that it can't find crtdbg.dcu. If I remove the uses clause, it instead fails with errors that __assert and _memmove aren't found. So, in a Delphi unit in a C++Builder project, how can I export functions from the C runtime library so they're available for linking? I'm already aware of Rudy Velthuis's article. I'd like to avoid manually writing Delphi wrappers if possible, since I don't need them in Delphi, and C++Builder must already include the necessary functions. Edit For anyone who wants to play along at home, the code is available in Abbrevia's Subversion repository at https://tpabbrevia.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/tpabbrevia/trunk. I've taken David Heffernan's advice and added a "AbCrtl.pas" unit that mimics crtl.dcu when compiled in C++Builder. That got the PPMd support working, but the Lzma and WavPack libraries both fail with link errors: [ILINK32 Error] Error: Unresolved external '_beginthreadex' referenced from ABLZMA.OBJ [ILINK32 Error] Error: Unresolved external 'sprintf' referenced from ABWAVPACK.OBJ [ILINK32 Error] Error: Unresolved external 'strncmp' referenced from ABWAVPACK.OBJ [ILINK32 Error] Error: Unresolved external '_ftol' referenced from ABWAVPACK.OBJ AFAICT, all of them are declared correctly, and the _beginthreadex one is actually declared in AbLzma.pas, so it's used by the pure Delphi compile as well. To see it yourself, just download the trunk (or just the "source" and "packages" directories), disable the {$IFDEF BCB} block at the bottom of AbDefine.inc, and try to compile the C++Builder "Abbrevia.cbproj" project.

  I am using native Oracle XML DB Web Services (using a PL/SQL function with a web service). I want to drop null values (put nothing in the output (no XML element)). It's working with Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 but not with Oracle 11.2.0.3.0. Just to clarify... I don't want to consume a webservice with PL/SQL, I want to publish my PL/SQL packages/procedures/functions as a web service! Hope someone can help me. Thank you. • Advanced Regex: Smart auto detect and replace URLs with anchor tags

  I've written a regular expression that automatically detects URLs in free text that users enter. This is not such a simple task as it may seem at first. Jeff Atwood writes about it in his post. His regular expression works, but needs extra code after detection is done. I've managed to write a regular expression that does everything in a single go. This is how it looks like (I've broken it down into separate lines to make it more understandable what it does): 1 (?<outer>\()? 2 (?<scheme>http(?<secure>s)?://)? 3 (?<url> 4 (?(scheme) 5 (?:www\.)? 6 | 7 www\. 8 ) 9 [a-z0-9] 10 (?(outer) 11 [-a-z0-9/+&@#/%?=~_()|!:,.;cšžcd]+(?=\)) 12 | 13 [-a-z0-9/+&@#/%?=~_()|!:,.;cšžcd]+ 14 ) 15 ) 16 (?<ending>(?(outer)\))) As you may see, I'm using named capture groups (used later in Regex.Replace()) and I've also included some local characters (cšžcd), that allow our localised URLs to be parsed as well. You can easily omit them if you'd like. Anyway. Here's what it does (referring to line numbers): 1 - detects if URL starts with open braces (is contained inside braces) and stores it in "outer" named capture group 2 - checks if it starts with URL scheme also detecting whether scheme is SSL or not 3 - start parsing URL itself (will store it in "url" named capture group) 4-8 - if statement that says: if "sheme" was present then www. part is optional, otherwise mandatory for a string to be a link (so this regular expression detects all strings that start with either http or www) 9 - first character after http:// or www. should be either a letter or a number (this can be extended if you'd like to cover even more links, but I've decided not to because I can't think of a link that would start with some obscure character) 10-14 - if statement that says: if "outer" (braces) was present capture everything up to the last closing braces otherwise capture all 15 - closes the named capture group for URL 16 - if open braces were present, capture closing braces as well and store it in "ending" named capture group First and last line used to have \s* in them as well, so user could also write open braces and put a space inside before pasting link. Anyway. My code that does link replacement with actual anchor HTML elements looks exactly like this: value = Regex.Replace( value, @"(?<outer>\()?(?<scheme>http(?<secure>s)?://)?(?<url>(?(scheme)(?:www\.)?|www\.)[a-z0-9](?(outer)[-a-z0-9/+&@#/%?=~_()|!:,.;cšžcd]+(?=\))|[-a-z0-9/+&@#/%?=~_()|!:,.;cšžcd]+))(?<ending>(?(outer)\)))", "${outer}<a href=\"http${secure}://${url}\">http${secure}://${url}</a>${ending}", RegexOptions.Compiled | RegexOptions.CultureInvariant | RegexOptions.IgnoreCase); As you can see I'm using named capture groups to replace link with an Anchor tag: "${outer}<a href=\"http${secure}://${url}\">http${secure}://${url}</a>${ending}" I could as well omit the http(s) part in anchor display to make links look friendlier, but for now I decided not to. Question I would like my links to be replaced with shortenings as well. So when user copies a very long link (for instance if they would copy a link from google maps that usually generates long links) I would like to shorten the visible part of the anchor tag. Link would work, but visible part of an anchor tag would be shortened to some number of characters. I could as well append ellipsis at the end of at all possible (and make things even more perfect). Does Regex.Replace() method support replacement notations so that I can still use a single call? Something similar as string.Format() method does when you'd like to format values in string format (decimals, dates etc...).

• Problem with tcp server when converting to service

  Hello lads, I'm working on monitoring some object (cdr-packets). I'm setting up a tcp-server and am listening on port 50043 for the packages. The program as a console application is working just fine, my server is working like it should and i'm receiving the packets. When i try to use it as a service, i cannot seem to get a client connected to my server. Is there something i need to change to deploy this as a service? • Code golf - hex to (raw) binary conversion

  In response to this question asking about hex to (raw) binary conversion, a comment suggested that it could be solved in "5-10 lines of C, or any other language." I'm sure that for (some) scripting languages that could be achieved, and would like to see how. Can we prove that comment true, for C, too? NB: this doesn't mean hex to ASCII binary - specifically the output should be a raw octet stream corresponding to the input ASCII hex. Also, the input parser should skip/ignore white space. edit (by Brian Campbell) May I propose the following rules, for consistency? Feel free to edit or delete these if you don't think these are helpful, but I think that since there has been some discussion of how certain cases should work, some clarification would be helpful. The program must read from stdin and write to stdout (we could also allow reading from and writing to files passed in on the command line, but I can't imagine that would be shorter in any language than stdin and stdout) The program must use only packages included with your base, standard language distribution. In the case of C/C++, this means their respective standard libraries, and not POSIX. The program must compile or run without any special options passed to the compiler or interpreter (so, 'gcc myprog.c' or 'python myprog.py' or 'ruby myprog.rb' are OK, while 'ruby -rscanf myprog.rb' is not allowed; requiring/importing modules counts against your character count). • Java app makes screen display unresponsive after 10 minutes of user idle time

  I've written a Java app that allows users to script mouse/keyboard input (JMacro, link not important, only for the curious). I personally use the application to automate character actions in an online game overnight while I sleep. Unfortunately, I keep coming back to the computer in the morning to find it unresponsive. Upon further testing, I'm finding that my application causes the computer to become unresponsive after about 10 minutes of user idle time (even if the application itself it simulating user activity). I can't seem to pin-point the issue, so I'm hoping somebody else might have a suggestion of where to look or what might be causing the issue. The relevant symptoms and characteristics: Unresponsiveness occurs after user is idle for 10 minutes User can still move the mouse pointer around the screen Everything but the mouse appears frozen... mouse clicks have no effect and no applications update their displays, including the Windows 7 desktop I left the task manager up along the with the app overnight so I could see the last task manager image before the screen freezes... the Java app is at normal CPU/Memory usage and total CPU usage is only ~1% After moving the mouse (in other words, the user comes back from being idle), the screen image starts updating again within 30 minutes (this is very hit and miss... sometimes 10 minutes, sometimes no results after two hours) User can CTRL-ALT-DEL to get to Windows 7's CTRL-ALT-DEL screen (after a 30 second pause). User is still able to move mouse pointer, but clicking any of the button options causes the screen to appear to freeze again On some very rare occasions, the system never freezes, and I come back to it in the morning with full responsiveness The Java app automatically stops input scripting in the middle of the night, so Windows 7 detects "real" idleness and turns the monitors into Standby mode... which they successfully come out of upon manually moving the mouse in the morning when I wake up, even though the desktop display still appears frozen Given the symptoms and characteristics of the issue, it's as if the Java app is causing the desktop display of the logged in user to stop updating, including any running applications. Programming concepts and Java packages used: Multi-threading Standard out and err are rerouted to a javax.swing.JTextArea The application uses a Swing GUI awt.Robot (very heavily used) awt.PointerInfo awt.MouseInfo System Specs: Windows 7 Professional Java 1.6.0 u17 In conclusion, I should stress that I'm not looking for any specific solutions, as I'm not asking a very specific question. I'm just wondering if anybody has run into a similar problem when using the Java libraries that I'm using. I would also gladly appreciate any suggestions for things to try to attempt to further pinpoint what is causing my problem. Thanks!   I am trying to define constants in Perl using the use Constant pragma: use Constant { FOO => "bar", BAR => "foo" }; I'm running into a bit of trouble, and hoping there's a standard way of handling it. First of all... I am defining a hook script for Subversion. To make things simple, I want to have a single file where the class (package) I'm using is in the same file as my actual script. Most of this package will have constants involved in it: print "This is my program"; package "MyClass"; use constant { FOO => "bar" }; sub new { yaddah, yaddah, yaddah. I would like my constant FOO to be accessible to my main program. I would like to do this without having to refer to it as MyClass::FOO. Normally, when the package is a separate file, I could do this in my main program: use MyClass qw(FOO); but, since my class and program are a single file, I can't do that. What would be the best way for my main program to be able to access my constants defined in my class? The second issue... I would like to use the constant values as hash keys: $myHash{FOO} = "bar"; The problem is that %myHash has the literal string FOO as the key and not the value of the constant. This causes problems when I do things like this: if (defined($myHash{FOO})) { print "Key " . FOO . " does exist!\n"; } I could force the context: if (defined("" . FOO . "")) { I could add parentheses: if (defined(FOO())) { Or, I could use a temporary variable: my $foo = FOO; if (defined($foo)) { None of these are really nice ways of handling this issue. So, what is the best way? Is there one way I'm missing? By the way, I don't want to use Readonly::Scalar because it is 1). slow, and 2). not part of the standard Perl package. I want to define my hook not to require additional Perl packages and to be as simple as possible to work.

• dojo layout tutorial dor version 1.7 doesn't work for 1.7.2

  This is sortof a continuation to dojo1.7 layout acting screwy. So I made some working widgets and tested them out, i then tried altering my work using the tutorial at http://dojotoolkit.org/documentation/tutorials/1.7/dijit_layout/ to make the layout nice. After failing at that in many interesting ways (thus my last question) I started on a new path. My plan is now to implement the layout tutorial example and then stick in my widgets. For some reason even following the tutorial wont work... everything loads then disappears and I'm left with a blank browser window. Any ideas? It just struck me that it could be browser compatibility issues, I'm working on Firefox 13.0.1. • Self updating app, wont overwrite existing app, using Android packagemanager?

  I know there are plenty of questions about this on here, but I've tried everything (but the correct 'thing', obviously!) and nothing seems to shine any light on the problem I'm having. I've written an app (for a customer), which is designed to be hosted on their own server. The app references a simple text file with the latest version code in it and checks it against it's own version. If it's out of date it goes off and downloads the update. Everything is working as intended up to this point. I use the: Intent i = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW); i.setDataAndType(Uri.fromFile(outputFile), "application/vnd.android.package-archive"); i.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK); startActivity(i); ...code to start the install process of the newly downloaded .apk file. And that all starts as I would expect. I click on "Install" - when I'm prompted to confirm the overwriting of the current app, with the new. It starts, and then displays: App not installed. And existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed. Now I'm aware that Android can't have multiple applications sharing the same package name, which is fine, but nothing comes up in LogCat and I can only assume that the OS is annoyed at me attempting to 'update' my app, even though I'm going through all the correct channels and using the inbuilt package manager to do it for me! Can anyone tell me what the OS is moaning about? I'm not attempting to install two apps side by side, I want it to update it, which it starts to do, and then gets really confused. Is it something to do with me using the same keystore for signing the packages? I highly doubt it as I've used the same keystores previously to handle updates to games and the like, but I just can't figure out what it's complaining about. Hopefully someone out there has had this issue and solved it, and can point me in the right direction. I'm flying a bit blind with the limited information it's giving me :( Cheers.

So the HTML that arrived was a sort of skeleton and ajax was used to fill in the gaps. This is fine and not at all surprising Since the page should be seo friendly it should work fine without js. in step 4 nothing happens in the console and the skeleton page loads pre-populated rendering the ajax unnecessary. This is also completely not confusing in step 7 the ajax calls are made but fail. this is also ok since the urls they are using are not local, the calls are thus broken. The page looks like the skeleton. This is also great and expected. in step 8: no ajax calls are made and the skeleton is just a skeleton. I would have thought that this should behave very much like in step 4 question What I want to do is use urllib2 to grab the html from step 4 but I cant figure out how. What am I missing and how could I pull this off? To paraphrase If I was writing a spider I would want to be able to grab plain ol' HTML (as in that which resulted in step 4). I dont want to execute ajax stuff or any javascript at all. I don't want to populate anything dynamically. I just want HTML. The seo friendly site wants me to get what I want because that's what seo is all about. How would one go about getting plain HTML content given the situation I outlined? To do it manually I would turn off js, navigate to the page and copy the html. I want to automate this. stuff I've tried I used wireshark to look at packet headers and the GETs sent off from my pc in steps 2 and 4 have the same headers. Reading about SEO stuff makes me think that this is pretty normal otherwise techniques such as hijax wouldn't be used. I can't see how this would cause a problem my script has Accept-encoding = identity. This might be the cause of the problem. I can't really see why the host would use this field to determine the user-agent though. If I change encoding to match the browser request headers then I have trouble decoding it. • Macports 1.8.2 fails to build db46 on os x 1.6.3

• How do I solve "405 Method Not Allowed" for our subversion setup?

  We're serving our source code using VisualSVN running on Windows Server 2003. Recently, we split a portion of a project into a new project in it's own repository, and then linked it back to the original project using svn:externals. Since then, we've been having issues when we try to commit files with Subclipse. The error we're getting is: svn: Commit failed (details follow): svn: PROPFIND of '/svn': 405 Method Not Allowed (https://svn.ourserver.com) Googling for a while didn't really help, our config seems to be correct. It should also be noted that we've been running this server for a while no without these problems and apart from splitting the project into two repositories, no changes have been made to the server (ie, config files are the same). It should also be noted that these errors only appear when we try to check in multiple files at once. If we check in one file at a time there are no errors. Also, it only appears in Subclipse as far as we know right now, Versions.app (OS X) seems to work fine so that is our current workaround. So, the questions is how do I analyze the error to find the cause and subsequently fix it? I'm by no means a svn guru and right now I'm clueless. EDIT: It seems we can check in multiple files in the same package, but not files from multiple packages. Also, when I "split" the project into two repositories, I imported the original repository with a new name. I did not do a dump and then import that dump. Could that be the source of our issues, and if so, how would I solve that? EDIT: After some jerking around it seems as though it is indeed related to when checking in files in different repositories. If I try to do a single commit in both Repo A and Repo B (referenced by svn:externals) at the same time, I get the error. Versions.app handles this correctly, but I guess it might just be doing two commits, not a single one. Subclipse fails miserably. For now, we simply do multiple commits, one for Repo A and one for Repo B, that works just fine. If anyone smarter than me could fill in the details why this is happening, whether or not this kind of setup is stupid etc, please go right ahead.

  Hi, I am new to Emacs, and I have the following code as a sample. I have installed GNU Emacs 23.1.1 (i386-mingw-nt6.1.7600), installed cedet-1.0pre7.tar.gz. , installed ELPA, and company. You can find my simple Emacs configuration at the bottom. The problem is, when I type q[0] in main() and press . (dot), I see the 37 members of the vector, not Person although first_name and last_name are expected. The completion works as expected in the function greet() but it has nothing to do with vector.   I'm working on homework and I'm close but I am having an issue. I just learned how to work with packages in eclipse so I have a class that is importing another class from a package (I think I said that right) The main prompts the user to enter an integer between -100 and 100 and I am having an issue with validating it. I know the issue is where I'm importing I'm just unsure the direction I need to go to fix it. This is a section of my main code. • How to prevent PHP variables from being arrays or objects?

  I think that (the title) is the problem I am having. I set up a MySQL connection, I read an XML file, and then I insert those values into a table by looping through the elements. The problem is, instead of inserting only 1 record, sometimes I insert 2 or 3 or 4. It seems to depend on the previous values I have read. I think I am reinitializing the variables, but I guess I am missing something -- hopefully something simple. Here is my code.
