• SQL Server won't perform regular expression validation on XML column

  Hi I have an XML column in my table which contains this xsd snippet: <xsd:element name="Postcode" minOccurs="0"> <xsd:simpleType> <xsd:restriction base="xsd:string"> <xsd:pattern value="^[0-9]{4}$" /> </xsd:restriction> </xsd:simpleType> </xsd:element> The regular expression should require a string containing 4 numerical digits. It validates perfectly in Visual Studio and is a correct regular expression. SQL Server, on the other hand, won't accept it. The error message I receive is: XML Validation: Invalid simple type value: '1234'. Location: / * : Donor[1]/*:Postcode[1]. I have an email address regex working fine, but can't get this simple numerical regex to work.

• How to prevent multiple browser windows from sharing the same session in asp.net.

  I have ASP.net application that is basically a data entry screen for a physical inspection process. The users want to be able to have multiple browser windows open and enter data from multiple inspections concurrently. At first I was using cookie based sessions, and obviously this blew up. I switched to using cookie-less sessions, which stores the session in the URL and in testing this seemed to resolve the problem. Each browser window/tab had a different session ID, and data entered in one did not clobber data entered in the other. However my users are more efficient at breaking things than I expected and it seems that they're still managing to get the same session between browsers sometimes. I think that they're copying/pasting the address from one tab to the other in order to open the application, but I haven't been able to verify this yet (they're at another location so I can't easily ask them). Other than telling them don't copy and paste, or convince them to only enter one at a time, how can I prevent this situation from occurring?

• Linux ext3 readdir and concurrent updates

  Dear all, we are receiving about 10000 messages per hour. We store them as individual files in hourly directories on an ext3 filesystem. The file name includes a sequence number. We use rsync to mirror these files every 20 seconds at another location (via a SAN, but that doesn't matter). Sometimes an rsync run picks up files n-3, n-2, n-1, n+1, and then next rsync run continues with n, n+2, n+3, n+4 and so on. Is it possible that when one process creates files in a certain sequence within a directory, that another process using readdir() sees the files appearing in a different sequence? • Plugin or module for filtering/sorting a large amount of data?

  I have a rather large amount of data (100 MB or so), that I would like to present to a user. The format of the data is similar to the following... Date              Location      Log File          Link 03/21/2010   San Diego   some_log.txt   http://somelink.com etc My problem is that I would like to have some nice/slick way for the user to filter the information. Unfortunately, because there is so much of it, the jQuery Table Filter plugin does not work (crashes the browser). I was wondering if there is a nice solution or if I have to simply do the filtering on the server end and have a bland pull-down menu / select-box interface for the client to use.

I start with a MemberwiseClone and this copies all the values and few objects like configuration dictionary over just fine but they are pointers. What would be the best way to know the nearest place of the list against the current position. I could not find anything in the google APIs.   I have a rewrite that nginx calls like so: location ~* (css)$ { rewrite ^(.*),(.*)$ /min/index.php?f=$1,/min/$2 last; } And it's used on pages like this: http://domain.com/min/framework.css,dropdown.css Works all fine and dandy, but it's not scalable. Adding another element to the URL means I have to directly edit the nginx config. Ideally, I'd like to have nginx rewrite according to how many comma-delimited parameters are passed through the URL, rather than setting a fixed amount in the config. Is this possible?

  I have a simple form that generates a new photo gallery, sending the title and a description to MySQL and redirecting the user to a page where they can upload photos. Everything worked fine until the ampersand entered the equation. The information is sent from a jQuery modal dialog to a PHP page which then submits the entry to the database. After Ajax completes successfully, the user is sent to the upload page with a GET URL to tell the page what album it is uploading to -- $.ajax ({ type: "POST", url: "../../includes/forms/add_gallery.php", data: $("#addGallery form").serialize(), success: function() { $("#addGallery").dialog('close'); window.location.href = 'display_album.php?album=' + title; } }); If the title has an ampersand, the Title field on the upload page does not display properly.   uploading multiple files from client to server with asp.net I have been looking at the asp.net upload control but that is for one file (unless someone knows a better way to do it). http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.ui.webcontrols.fileupload.aspx For what I want to do I don't even really need a browse. I know the files off of the client are at a certain location. Is it possible to create a collection of *HttpPostedFile*s and upload those? http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.httppostedfile.aspx I don't think it is possible but would be glad to be proven wrong. Is there a different asp.net method or control that will easily allow uploading multiple files from client to server?

  Is it possible to write C# code as below and send email using mnetwork in different country? MSExchangeWebServiceURL = mail.something.com/ews/exchange.asmx It's a web service URL. This works great when I run the same code from home network, my friends home network anywhere around, but when I run it from my client's location in Columbia it fails. I have a valid user name and password on that Exchange Server. Is there any configuration that I can set to achieve this? BTW this code below works when I run it within office network and any network within any home network. I have tried it at least with five friends network in Plano, Texas. I want this code to work running from any network in another country. My client in Columbia can connect to the web service using a browser using the same user name and password, but when I run the code above it is not able to connect to our web service.

  I'm getting the following error when trying to deploy a ZIP file to a remote FTP server. I tried connecting to the server using an FTP client (filezilla) and all goes well. Also, when connecting to a public ftp like ftp.belnet.be connections work fine. I'm trying to send the file to a VSFTPD server behind a router using port forwarding. Again, this works fine from any location using Filezilla, phing is not connecting though... • .Net: Adding files and folders to SETUP Project programmatically

  So, here is the scenario: I want to create a installer which would just dump few files and folders at a location specified by user. But the problem is these files are required to be picked up from a fixed source folder and then the installer is build. Also, these files may change any time and then again a new version of the installer is required to be created. So this needs to be done programmatically. Also, how can I add some coding stuff in setup projects? (New to SETUP PROJECTS) How? Any ideas/comments appreciated...
