• Problems installing PIL after OSX 10.9

  I installed Mac OSX 10.9 the day it came out. Afterwards I decided I needed to install PIL. I'd installed it before, but it appeared the update had broken that. When I try to use pip to install PIL, it fails when building _imaging. I wish to show them differing their properties by changing the text style (parent list items are in bold, child list items are in normal style). • Address family not supported by protocol exception

  I'm trying to send a couple of values from an android application to a web service which I've setup. I'm using Http Post to send them but when I run the application I get the error- request time failed java.net.SocketException: Address family not supported by protocol. I get this while debugging with both the emulator as well as a device connected by wifi. • NHibernate is not connecting to sql server.

  When i set up a regular connection, it works, however when i try to use nhibernate, hibernate.cfg.xml, i m getting the following error. Message="A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. • Concept: Is mongo right for applying schemas?

  I am currently in charge of checking wether it is valuable for one of our upcoming products to be developed on mongo. Without going too much into detail, I'll try to explain, what the app does. The app simply has "entities". These entities are technical stuff, like cell phones, TVs, Laptops, tablet pcs, and so forth. Of course, a cell phone has other attributes than a Tablet PCs and a Laptop has even other attributes, like RAM, CPU, display size and so on. Now I want to have something that we wanna call a scheme: We define that we need to have saved the display size, amount of ram size of flash devices, processor type, processor speed and so on for tablet pcs. For cell phone we might save display size, GSM, Edge, 3g, 4g, processor, ram, touch screen technology, bla bla bla. I think you got it :) What I want to realize is, that each "category" has a schema and when one of the system's users enters a new product (let's say the new iphone 4), the app constructs the form to be filled out with the appropriate attributes. So far it sounds nice and should not be a problem with mongo. But now the tough for which I could not find a clean solution.... An attribute modeled in mongo looks like: { _id: 1234456, name: "Attribute name", type: 0, "description" } But what to do, if i need this attribute in several languages, like: { en: {name: "Attribute name", type: 0, "description"}, de: {name: "Name des Attributs, type: 0, "Beschreibung"} } I also need to ensure that the german attribute gets updated as soon as the english gets updated, for instance when type changes from 0 to 1. Any ideas on that?

• Table not created by Hibernate

  I annotated a bunch of POJO's so JPA can use them to create tables in Hibernate. It appears that all of the tables are created except one very central table called "Revision". The Revision class has an @Entity(name="RevisionT") annotation so it will be renamed to RevisionT so there is not a conflict with any reserved words in MySQL (the target database). I delete the entire database, recreate it and basically open and close a JPA session. All the tables seem to get recreated without a problem. Why would a single table be missing from the created schema? What instrumentation can be used to see what Hibernate is producing and which errors? Thanks. UPDATE: I tried to create as a Derby DB and it was successful. However, one of the fields has a a name of "index". I use @org.hibernate.annotations.IndexColumn to specify the name to something other than a reserved word. However, the column is always called "index" when it is created. Here's a sample of the suspect annotations. @ManyToOne @JoinColumn(name="MasterTopID") @IndexColumn(name="Cx3tHApe") protected MasterTop masterTop; Instead of creating MasterTop.Cx3tHApe as a field, it creates MasterTop.Index. Why is the name ignored?

• Database doesn't update using TransactionScope

  I have a client trying to communicate with a WCF service in a transactional manner. The client passes some data to the service and the service adds the data to its database accordingly. For some reason, the new data the service submits to its database isn't being persisted. When I have a look at the table data in the Server Explorer no new rows are added... • Saving a form using autocomplete instead of select field

When I try to save my form, I get this error: Client(#23852094658120) expected, got ActiveSupport::HashWithIndifferentAccess(#23852079773520) That's not surprising. It seems to me that it was expecting a select field, which it could translate into a Client object, but instead it just got a string. I know I can do Client.find( :first, :conditions => { :name => params[:name] } ) to find a Client with that name, but how do I tell my form that that's what's going on?

  I have a class object that stores some properties that are lists of other objects. Each of the items in the list has an identifier that can be accessed with the id property. I'd like to be able to read and write from these lists but also be able to access a dictionary keyed by their identifier. Let me illustrate with an example: class Child(object): def __init__(self, id, name): self.id = id self.name = name class Teacher(object): def __init__(self, id, name): self.id = id self.name = name class Classroom(object): def __init__(self, children, teachers): self.children = children self.teachers = teachers classroom = Classroom([Child('389','pete')], [Teacher('829','bob')]) This is a silly example, but it illustrates what I'm trying to do. I'd like to be able to interact with the classroom object like this: #access like a list print classroom.children[0] #append like it's a list classroom.children.append(Child('2344','joe')) #delete from like it's a list classroom.children.pop(0) But I'd also like to be able to access it like it's a dictionary, and the dictionary should be automatically updated when I modify the list: #access like a dict print classroom.childrenById['389'] I realize I could just make it a dict, but I want to avoid code like this: classroom.childrendict[child.id] = child I also might have several of these properties, so I don't want to add functions like addChild, which feels very un-pythonic anyway. Is there a way to somehow subclass dict and/or list and provide all of these functions easily with my class's properties? I'd also like to avoid as much code as possible.

  Hey Everyone, I'm brand new to Javascript and JQuery, so I've been reading up on it and am trying to check (and set inactive) a checkbox in a parent list-item when one of the children are checked. If this doesn't make any sense, take a look at the list structure. <ul> <li><input type="checkbox" name="items[]" value="88712003" id="88712003" /> Parent 1</li> <li><input type="checkbox" name="items[]" value="88712003" id="88712003" /> Parent 2 <ul> <li><input type="checkbox" name="items[]" value="21312341" id="21312341" /> Child 1</li> <li><input type="checkbox" name="items[]" value="21312341" id="21312341" /> Child 2</li> </ul> </li> <li><input type="checkbox" name="items[]" value="88712003" id="88712003" /> Parent 3</li> <li><input type="checkbox" name="items[]" value="88712003" id="88712003" /> Parent 4</li> </ul> If Child 1 or Child 2 is checked, I want the input in Parent 2 to be checked and set inactive. I've started working on it, but got stuck here: $(function(){ $('.child').click(function() { $(this).parent().parent().parent().toggle(); }); }); As you can see, I didn't make it far. • ActiveMq integration with Spring 2.5

  I am using ActiveMq 5.32 with Spring 2.5.5. I use pretty generic configuration, as long as I include the jmsTransactionManager in DefaultMessageListenerContainer, Spring throw an error on start up: "Error creating bean with name 'org.springframework.jms.listener.DefaultMessageListenerContainer#0'" Without the transactionManager attribute , this works fine, but when I add 10 messages to the message queue, a transaction exception will occur. Part of my configurations : <bean class="org.springframework.jms.listener.DefaultMessageListenerContainer"> <property name="connectionFactory" ref="connectionFactory" /> <property name="destination" ref="emailDestination" /> <property name="messageListener" ref="emailServiceMDP" /> <property name="transactionManager" ref="jmsTransactionManager" /> </bean> <bean id="jmsTransactionManager" class="org.springframework.jms.connection.JmsTransactionManager"> <property name="connectionFactory" ref="connectionFactory" /> </bean> Does this version of Spring and Activemq has some know issues in integration ? Or do I need additional libs to get jmsTransactionManager to work ?

• Submit a form and get a JSON response with jQuery

  I expect this is easy, but I'm not finding a simple explanation anywhere of how to do this. I have a standard HTML form like this: <form name="new_post" action="process_form.json" method=POST> <label>Title:</label> <input id="post_title" name="post.title" type="text" /><br/> <label>Name:</label><br/> <input id="post_name" name="post.name" type="text" /><br/> <label>Content:</label><br/> <textarea cols="40" id="post_content" name="post.content" rows="20"></textarea> <input id="new_post_submit" type="submit" value="Create" /> </form> I'd like to have javascript (using jQuery) submit the form to the form's action (process_form.json), and receive a JSON response from the server. Then I'll have a javascript function that runs in response to the JSON response, like function form_success(json) { alert('Your form submission worked'); // process json response } How do I wire up the form submit button to call my form_success method when done? Also it should override the browser's own navigation, since I don't want to leave the page. Or should I move the button out of the form to do that?
