  • Multiple DNS server instances in server 2003?

    Is there a way to run multiple DNS server instances on the same Windows 2003 installation? We have to support multiple development teams coding in separate environments using the same server names that resolve to different IPs depending on the team. These are for internal development so server failing, etc is not an issue. I'm looking for a way to avoid setting up a server 2003 DNS server per environment.

    I'm in a process of developing a server application and I would like to know if there are some numbers (or experience from people) on how many computers are behind the NAT on the Internet? Since my application is supposed to be a small server, being forced to implement UPNP support and TCP hole-punching with an external server may sway my determination, especially if more than 80% of the Internet is behind NAT.

However this only works for virtual and the model that I made the image on how can i extend compatibility to another device? I am just using it for a vdisk that I can then also use as a virtual device but I wasnt the vdisk to be available over multiple devices. Using Win 7 on the client. Thanks

  • 550 relay not permitted

    We are using Fogbugz on our server to do customer support emails. Occasionally we get errors coming back when sending emails which say: 550 relay not permitted This seems to happen at random though, sometimes sending an email to a person works, next time to the same person it'll bounce back. I've tried setting up reverse DNS with the server host and creating the SPF record in GoDaddy but we still get some of these errors. Is there anything else I can do, and is there a way of testing these are actually configured correctly?

  • CNAME to another domain fails on some office networks, why?

    Our domain "aspenfasteners.com" is hosted by Volusion. We have CNAME records "find" and "search" which point to site indexing accounts on www.picosearch.com. These addresses fail on SOME private office networks which have their own DNS. We suspect the problem comes from Volusion's own name servers, n2.volusion.com and n3.volusion.com. Volusion support on problems this technical is non-existant. We have tried an NSLOOKUP on find.aspenfasteners.com with level 2 debugging info, and we got the results below. Is it possible that the local DNS is recursing to Volusion's name servers, and that while Volusion DOES return the canonical name, they do NOT resolve the address? Can anybody with expertise in this sort of stuff PLEASE look at the NSLOOKUP below and tell me if we are right, because Volusion is giving me absolutely NO support on this topic.     I keep getting this error in my event viewer on IIS 6. I'm trying to figure out if my error resets my connection (maybe recycles the worker processes?). The error is: An attempt was made to load filter 'C:\Program Files\Software Artisans\FileUp \FileUpIsapi.dll' but it requires the SF_NOTIFY_READ_RAW_DATA filter notification and this notification is not supported in Worker Process Isolation Mode.   • Default Critique branch office setup: VPNTunnel->HQ, subnets for VOIP/PC, + several Q's

    We're setting up a new branch office. * ~10 users. * Each user has a VOIP phone provided by a hosted solution. * Users need access to resources on HQ (located in another state), so setting up VPN tunnel * HQ only supports certain Cisco/Juniper devices. VOIP provider only supports SonicWall, so current plan is to have two routers w/ separate subnets for VOIP vs. PC traffic. * PC's will plug into pass-thru Ethernet jacks on the VOIP phones, but the phones vs. PC's will point to different subnets. * Cable Modem is 50Mbps / 5Mbps DOCSIS 3.0 business line w/ 5 static IP's. * Each of the 2 subnets will map to one of the 5 public IP's. * May or may not also need to support a VPN tunnel with a second branch office because of a file server they have there that some in the new office use. I'm pushing to have them move the files to a server on the HQ's network so we don't have to worry about setting up an additional tunnel. Questions: Do you foresee any issues with the below set-up? Router recommendations by HQ IT staff: Cisco Router 2811, or Juniper SSG5 or SSG20. Any recommendations about these routers? We need Wi-Fi too – looks like the above routers have models that support this, any reason not to use this? Users need to be able to work from home. If so, how is authentication handled? Right now we use AD credentials for the HQ's domain, but we currently don't plan to have an AD system in the new location since it's only 10 users. We can't tie the authentication system from the new location's router to the AD system of the HQ. All the PC's that will be in the new location are currently in the existing office that is closing down, and are already joined to the domain of the HQ. Please confirm: this + the VPN tunnel will be sufficient for them to connect to authenticated resources on the HQ's network from the new location, correct? Mainly SQL servers and file servers, and a few remote desktop sessions. I'm sure I'll have some more questions, but can't think of them right now.

  • Is this common practice for disk quotas on virtual dedicated servers?

    Hello, I was a bit surprised when I purchased a VPS with 15GB of storage to find that am left with very little space after Windows' 13GB footprint. I can't even install SQL Server. Tech support is saying this is normal. I know that if they felt like it they could remove Windows from the quota or adjust it accordingly. Is this a common practice or should I further pursue the issue with customer service?

Ive been getting reports form people who try accessing my site from a PS3, that every page appears like a jumble of random characters on a white background, sorta like echoing out a gzipped string as plain text. Im using nginx. Does the PS3 browser not support gzipping? Anything I can do except disabling it?

    I'm running Jetty (version "null 6.1.22") on Ubuntu 10.04. It's running fine until I need JSP support. According to several blog posts I need to set the JETTY_ARGS to OPTIONS=Server,jsp. However, if I put this into /etc/default/jetty: JETTY_ARGS=OPTIONS=Server,jsp and restart Jetty via /etc/init.d/jetty stop && /etc/init.d/jetty start, it reports success, but does not accept connections.
