  Hi, I'm repeating my question because the prior one under this topic was lost. Could you please help me? I want to use MicrosoftReportViewer for Web Forms so that the DataSource be set programmatically. There is some sample code on the Internet for Windows Forms but I haven't found anything for Web Forms. For example, here is some code I've tried to use. It gives no errors but nothing is displayed. It's going to take all week for me to catch up on last week's neglected email, sort through the freshly-collected business cards, and generally make sense of the mad dash that is Oracle OpenWorld. So I've been playing this amazing video (produced by Lozano Productions) to remind me of the last business/IT conference marathon I survived: Collaborate 2012. It was an amazing event where we officially launched the new design of Profit and enjoyed a drink with some of our closest friends--Oracle partners, customers, and peers. Many thanks to those who came out to celebrate and who continue to help make Profit a success. It was a great time that resulted in a lot of great new work and new relationships. So I'm taking a time out to remember that the hard work is worth it. See you in Denver next year!

• Is C++11 Uniform Initialization a replacement for the old style syntax?

  I understand that C++11's uniform initialization solves some syntactical ambiguity in the language, but in a lot of Bjarne Stroustrup's presentations (particularly those during the GoingNative 2012 talks), his examples primarily use this syntax now whenever he is constructing objects. Is it recommended now to use uniform initialization in all cases? What should the general approach be for this new feature as far as coding style goes and general usage? What are some reasons to not use it? Note that in my mind I'm thinking primarily of object construction as my use case, but if there are other scenarios to consider please let me know.

• Not assigning Bugs to a specific user

  My question: Is there a benefit to NOT assigning a Bug to a particular developer? Leaving it to the team as-a-whole? Our department has decided to be more Agile by not assigning Bugs/Defects to individuals. Using Team Foundation Server 2012, we'll place all Bugs in a development team's "Area" but leave the "Assigned To" field blank. The idea is that the team will create a Task work item which will be assigned to an individual and the Task will link to the Bug. The Team as a whole will therefore take responsibility for the Bug, not an individual, aligning to Scrum - apparently. I see the down side. The reporting tools built into TFS become less useful when you cannot sort by assigned vs unassigned, let alone sorting by which user Bugs are assigned. Is there a benefit I'm not seeing? Besides encouraging teamwork by putting the responsibility on the team-as-a-whole instead of an individual?

• ATI propriatery drivers install latest 12.8, broke my kernel. Stuck on kernel 3.2.0-26

  I messed up a bit. Hoping some here can help me. I tried to install the newest catalyst 12.8. Sadly, this broke my system. I was stuck in low graphics mode. I finally managed to restore the proprietary drivers, and get into ubuntu again. But now I am stuck on kernel 3.2.0.26. I had installed kernel 3.2.0-30, but the system no longer sees it. I have kernel 3.2.0-29 too, but the system cannot see that as well. In the grub menu. When I use sudo update-grub, they are both listed. • Final steps in installing Matlab2012 on Ubuntu 12.04

  I have a problem with the MATLAB 2012 installation. After having installed it using alt+f2 and having used gksudo nautilus I have installed MATLAB in the correct folder which is: /usr/local/MATLAB/R2012a Then I inserted the license and the window told "activation complete" or something like that. This made me happy, but only for a while because as soon as I try to search for Matlab within the applications I cannot find it and neither if I try to run matlab into terminal it says: command not found Can someone help me!? • Will Ubuntu be releasing an update for Cedar Trail Processors?

  There is a file available on the Intel web site with the file name "cdv-gfx-drivers-1.0.1_bee.tar.bz2" and a date of July 6, 2012. It can be found by searching the Intel Download Center for the filename or the string "Linux* PowerVR Graphics/Media Drivers". The download page links to the file, release notes and a link, Enabling hardware accelerated playback that takes one to a page containing links to two pdf documents titled "Enabling Hardware Accelerated Playback for Intel® AtomTM Processor N2000/D2000 Series", one for Ubuntu and one for Fedora. The instruction and release notes speak to working with kernel 3.1.0 and since I do not feel I have the skills, knowledge or training to do anything else but, follow the instructions to the "T", I am very reluctant to try anything on my freshly updated 3.2.0 kernel. I would much rather use a Ubuntu supported kernel that applies these drivers and doesn't break anything in the process. Is it a case where this is so new that Canonical has not yet included these drivers but, soon will do so?

  I read on various sites about licenses. I did just put the license type in the header file (in my case a javascript file, open-source): /* * "codeName" "version" * http://officialsite.com/ * * Copyright 2012 "codeName" * Released under the "LICENSE NAME" license * http://officialsite.com/LICENSE NAME */ javascript code ... In the same folder I leave a copy of the license. The listing of the folder looks like this: * codeName.js * LICENSE In the file LICENSE is the full text of the license my code uses. What I cannot find anywhere that says is this is enough to say my code is licensed (the case of open-source). Is something more required?

  This being my first time going to TechEd and I want to make sure that I get the most out of it.  The first goal is to make sure that I get to the sessions that cover as many topics as possible.  This is important for me as a Solution Architect consultant specializing in Microsoft technologies.  To this end I have spent some time going through the sessions on the myTechEd site. The other reason for the trip is to connect with the Microsoft development community.  This includes both members of my local Midwest community and the global communities that I have only had online connections with.  Sharing the experience and getting a chance to exchange ideas with new and old friends is a great part of any convention.   I'm writing a test app using the twitter gem and I'd like to write an integration test but I can't figure out how to mock the objects in the Twitter namespace. • Sinatra Set Settings (Ruby)

  Using Sinatra in Ruby you can set the server's settings by doing: set :myvariable, "MyValue" and then access it anywhere in templates etc with settings.myvariable. In my script I need to be able to re-set these variables falling back to a bunch of defaults. I figured the easiest way to do this would be to have a function that performs all the sets calling it at the start of the Sinatra server and when I need to make the alterations: class MyApp < Sinatra::Application helpers do def set_settings s = settings_from_yaml() set :myvariable, s['MyVariable'] || "default" end end # Here I would expect to be able to do: set_settings() # But the function isn't found! get '/my_path' do if things_go_right set_settings end end # Etc end As explained in the code above, the set_settings function isn't found, am I going about this the wrong way?
