    I have a web service implemented as EJB. One of it's methods returns Map<String,String>. On client side I use php : $client = new SoapClient($wsdl,array("cache_wsdl"=>WSDL_CACHE_NONE)); $result = $client->foo($params); Everything works fine, but I would like $result-return to be an associative array. Now it looks like array(10) { [0]=> object(stdClass)#46 (2) { ["key"]=> string(4) "key1" ["value"]=> string(4) "val1" } .... I want array(10) {"key1"=>"value1", "key2"=>"value2", .... } The obvious solution is to iterate through this array and create a new array $arr = array(); foreach ($result->return as $val) $arr[$val->key] = $val->value; But I wonder if there is a better way to get an assosicative array ?     Let's say I have an NSArray of NSDictionaries that is 10 elements long. I want to create a second NSArray with the values for a single key on each dictionary. The best way I can figure to do this is: NSMutableArray *nameArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithCapacity:[array count]]; for (NSDictionary *p in array) { [nameArray addObject:[p objectForKey:@"name"]]; } self.my_new_array = array; [array release]; [nameArray release]; } But in theory, I should be able to get away with not using a mutable array and using a counter in conjunction with [nameArray addObjectAtIndex:count], because the new list should be exactly as long as the old list. Please note that I am NOT trying to filter for a subset of the original array, but make a new array with exactly the same number of elements, just with values dredged up from the some arbitrary attribute of each element in the array. In python one could solve this problem like this: new_list = [p['name'] for p in old_list] or if you were a masochist, like this: new_list = map(lambda p: p['name'], old_list) Having to be slightly more explicit in objective-c makes me wonder if there is an accepted common way of handling these situations.

    Let me try to explain my situation: We are using a CMS which 'bakes' a website, and you publish it to a webserver. The published site contains only static HTML ( or XML ) pages ( generated from the content in the CMS database ). I imported an XML file with the names and phone numbers from the company phone directory. Using only XSLT, can I create a way to search that directory? For example, if my XML file, directory.xml looks like this: <directory> <person> <fname>Ryan</fname> <lname>Purple</lname> <phone>887 778 5544</phone> </person> <person> <fname>Tanya</fname> <lname>Orange</lname> <phone>887 998 5541</phone> </person> <directory> Can I create a way to search for a person with the last name starting with "Pur" ? Can I pass a parameter to the XSLT? Can I search the XML tree to match the string in the parameter?

  • How can I structure my MustacheJS template to add dynamic classes based on the values from a JSON file?

    OBJECTIVE To build an app that allows the user to search for locations. CURRENT STATE At the moment the locations listed are few, so they are just all presented when landing on the "dealers" page. BACKGROUND Previously there were only about 50 showrooms carrying a product we sell, so a static HTML page was fine. And displays as But the page size grew to about 1500 lines of code after doing this. We have gotten more and need a scalable solution so that we can add many more dealers fast. In other projects, I have previously used MustacheJS and to load in values from a JSON file. I know the ideally this will be an AJAX application. Perhaps I might be better off with database here? Below is what I have in mind so far, and it "works" up to a certain point, but seems not to be anywhere near the most sustainable solution that can be efficiently scaled.     Developing with cakephp 1.3 (latest from github). There are 2 models bind with hasAndBelongsToMany: documents and tags. Document can have many tags in other words. I've add a new document submitting form there user can enter a list of tags separated with commas (new tag will be added, if not exist already). I looked at cakephp bakery 2.0 source code on github and found the solution. The return type of the method is Vector. In webservice tester I can see the SOAP response as xsi:type="xs:base64Binary". Then I called this webmethod in my application.   • HP Smart Array; Is it possible to convert Raid1 to Raid0 by dropping a failed drive?

    I have a server that was running two 60GB drives as a logical RAID1. At some point the second drive was physically removed and the logical drive has been in "Interim Recovery Mode" for several months now. There's no need for the redundancy of RAID1 on this machine, and I have no intention of replacing the missing drive. If possible I would like to convert the current RAID1 to a single-drive RAID0 by simply dropping the failed drive from the current configuration. I'm only interested in doing this if it can be done in-place. Otherwise I'm perfectly content to leave it in "Interim Recovery Mode" indefinitely.

This seems to be inline with what MSDN says about passing an array to a Range's Value. I also found this page showing something similar in C#. Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong?   • Designing a silverlight dashboard with mef - is it possible? (with dynamic loading of xaps)

    Hello! I am just trying to wrap my head around MEF. And as I am really going to love it ( I guess ) I started my first sample project and immediatly stumbled into a big problem and now I am asking myself if I can use MEF for my scenario at all and that is the following: Imagine that one got some kind of dashboard with, let's say, five regions and above each region there are two comboboxes. The values in the first combobox represent different possible views (for example, chartControl, tableControl, pictureControl, ...) and the values of the second combobox represents the different data sources for the currently selected control. As the controls are very big in size one wants to download them as needed. If the user selects one comboboxitem the corresponding control xap should be loaded and displayed in this specific region. If the user selectes another control in the same combobox the control should be removed from the visualtree and the next control should be downloaded and displayed. If the user changes the selection in a different combobox the corresponding control should be loaded again only in this specific region, with perhaps different data. And to make it a little more interesting - as this is some kind of dashboard one can change the layout from five regions to - for example - ten regions. I've seen the video "MVVM with MEF in Silverlight Video Tutorial Part 2: Plugins and Metadata" ( http://csharperimage.jeremylikness.com/2010/03/mvvm-with-mef-in-silverlight-video_09.html ) but he is using an ItemsControl and is working with Visibility and he only got ONE region.   • RDLC item width is dynamic and causing extra pages to be generated (image included)?

    I'm trying to format an RDLC report file in Visual Studio 2008 and I am having a formatting issue. I have a list at the bottom that contains a matrix that expands horizontally to the right. That pink box is just to visualize the problem I'm having. When the report is rendered the matrix expands and instead of filling the pink box with the matrix is pushes the space in the pink box to the right resulting in an extra page when printing the reports. One solution would be to shrink the pink box to be the size of the matrix which I've done. But then when the matrix grows the fields at the top of the report get pushed to the right by the same amount as the growth of the matrix. Can someone please let me know what they think the solution would be? Thank you!

    Basically, I want to be able to assign objects created within filters to members in a base controller from which every controller extends. Any possible way to do that? Here's how I tried, but haven't got to make it work. What I'm trying to achieve is to have all my controllers extend a base controller. The base controller's constructor would be used to assign values to its members, those values being pulled from the session map. Example below.   • dynamic grid style form that lets you update multiple rows in a single post in asp.net mvc

    I'm starting out with MVC but not sure it's the best option. I need to create a form that is based upon a collection. Eg it might look like this: product Price Item 1 [textbox] Item 2 [textbox] [submit button] where "item" is pulled from the database and textbox allows users to update the price. essentially this is a type of datagrid but i don't want webforms style update each row one at a time i need to update the entire set of text boxes in one post. Ideally I don't want a javascript based solution as it has to work without javascript. Is this possible in MVC or should I stick to webforms (where I could do this in a repeater by iterating through he repeater items on postback)

    Hola, I have an app i'm building in c#, and i'd like to have the ability to have a user click a "more information" icon next to a field, which will then show a callout with some blurb about why the field contains what it does. ideally it'd look a lot like the ValidatorCallout, but instead of being shown as a result of validation, it'll be shown as a result of a mouseclick, or hover. Anyone know of a nice way to do this with either the ajaxcontroltoolkit, or jquery? cheers for any help you can give me.

    I have a JSF application running on glassfish 2.1 with a EJB 3 backend. For authentication I use a custom realm. The user authenticates using the e-mail-address and password he specified on registration. Everything is working quite well. Now I have two related problems: 1) The user can edit his profile and -- naturally -- he can also change his e-mail-address. Unfortunately when I perform operations based on the current user's identity using ExternalContext.getUserPrincipal().getName(), I will receive the previous e-mail-address the user used on login. At the moment I handle this by forcing the user to reauthenticate after he changed his e-mail-address, but is there another more graceful possibility? 2) Same for user roles. E.g. I have the user roles MEMBER and PREMIUM_MEMBER. A MEMBER may become a PREMIUM_MEMBER during his current session. Unfortunately the role seems to be only determined at login. Is there any possibility, that JSF and EJB recognize the new user role without the need for the user to re-authenticated?
