• Adding relative week number column to MySQl results

  I have a table with 3 columns: user, value, and date. The main query returns the values for a specific user based on a date range: SELECT date, value FROM values WHERE user = '$user' AND date BETWEEN $start AND $end What I would like is for the results to also have a column indicating the week number relative to the date range. So if the date range is 1/1/2010 - 1/20/2010, then any results from the first Sun - Sat of that range are week 1, the next Sun - Sat are week 2, etc. If the date range starts on a Saturday, then only results from that one day would be week 1. If the date range starts on Thursday but the first result is on the following Monday, it would be week 2, and there are no week 1 results. Is this something fairly simple to add to the query? The only ideas I can come up with would be based on the week number for the year or the week number based on the results themselves (where in that second example above, the first result always gets week 1).

• javascript date.utc problem

  I'm trying to compare 2 dates using javascript. 1 at the end of the month and 1 at the beginning. I need to compare these 2 dates in seconds so I'm using the Date.UTC javascript function. Here's the code: var d = Date.UTC(2010,5,31,23,59,59); document.write(d); var d2 = Date.UTC(2010,6,1,12,20,11); document.write(d2); The output for is: 1278028799000 1277986811000 This is telling me that 1/6/2010 is less than 5/31/2010 in milliseconds. How is that possible? What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help.

Now I am able to fetch Date and Time with Single DateTimepicker by setting its CustomFormat property as; dtpicker2.CustomFormat = "MM/dd/yyyy,hh:mm:ss" Now my problem is to fetch TimeZone. EditV2: Now here is one more issue, if I set DateTimePicker's format property to Time, it shows me something like 2:30:00 PM. I am storing this in a file and reasigning it to the DateTimePicker control. Can anybody help me out, how to achieve this?

• Django colon syntax in template tags: only in newer versions?

  I just deployed an application to a new server, and although I'm using virtualenv, I had to install a new environment on the production server, which has a different architecture. Anyway, I received no TemplateSytaxErrors in development, but on the production server, I get: Exception Type: TemplateSyntaxError Exception Value: Caught SyntaxError while rendering: invalid syntax (views.py, line 25) The offending line is: {% url admin:password_change as password_change_url %} Upon removing that line, the TemplateSyntaxError hops to the next line that has a colon in it (and lets other template tags work fine). So my question is this: is there some discrepancy in versions of Python/Django that would allow or disallow the namespacing syntax? The template tags are in django-grappelli (http://code.google.com/p/django-grappelli/), so I'd rather not go through their code and rewrite all the template tags. Development server: 32-bit Debian Python 2.5.5 Django 1.2.1 Production server: 64-bit CentOS Python 2.4.3 Django 1.2.1 Any ideas?

• Another floating point question

  I have read most of the posts on here regarding floating point, and I understand the basic underlying issue that using IEEE 754 (and just by the nature of storing numbers in binary) certain fractions cannot be represented. I am trying to figure out the following: If both Python and JavaScript use the IEEE 754 standard, why is it that executing the following in Python .1 + .1 Results in 0.20000000000000001 (which is to be expected) Where as in Javascript (in at least Chrome and Firefox) the answer is .2 However performing .1 + .2 In both languages results in 0.30000000000000004 In addition, executing var a = 0.3; in JavaScript and printing a results in 0.3 Where as doing a = 0.3 in Python results in 0.29999999999999999 I would like to understand the reason for this difference in behavior. In addition, many of the posts on OS link to a JavaScript port of Java's BigDecimal, but the link is dead. Does anyone have a copy?

Running like so: "that_server.py &", - does not work.

  i have 2 textboxes that i am filling with StartDate, and Endate. i want to use the compareValidator to make sure that the StartDate is less that the EndDate. i used this: <asp:CompareValidator ID="Comp" ControlToValidate="txtStartDate" ControlToCompare="txtEndDate" Operator="LessThan" Type="Date" runat="server" Display="dynamic" Text="Failed!" /> the validator is always giving me Failed no matter what the dates are. if startdateendate or vise versa, Failed appears. i am using (MM/dd/yyyy) format in the textboxes. • Oracle TIMESTAMP w/ timezone data type confusion

  When would you use TIMESTAMP w/ timezone as opposed to TIMESTAMP w/ local time zone? When data is stored in a column of data type TIMESTAMP w/ local tz, the data is normalized to the database time zone, and the time zone displacement is not stored as part of the column data. When users retrieve the data, Oracle returns it in the users' local session time zone. Isn't that much more useful? I can't think of a reason why I'd want to use TIMESTAMP w/ timezone and get back some gobble gook with a UTC offset.

• XSLT 1.0: Sorting by concating portions of date string

  I'm trying to take XML data and sort elements by their data attribute. Unfortunately the dates come over in mm/dd/yyyy format and are not static lengths. (Jan = 1 instead of 01) So I believe the string will have to be parsed into three components and the month padded. The newly concated value (yyyymmdd) then sorted descending. Problem is I have no idea how to do this.   I am using the h5py python package to read files in HDF5 format. (e.g. somefile.h5) I would like to write the contents of a dataset to a text file. For example, I would like to create a text file with the following contents: 1,20,31,75,142,324,78,12,3,90,8,21,1 I am able to access the dataset in python using this code: import h5py f = h5py.File('/Users/Me/Desktop/thefile.h5', 'r') group = f['/level1/level2/level3'] dset = group['dsetname'] My naive approach is too slow, because my dataset has over 20000 entries: # write all values to file for index in range(len(dset)): # do not add comma after last value if index == len(dset)-1: txtfile.write(repr(dset[index])) else: txtfile.write(repr(dset[index])+',') txtfile.close() return None Is there a faster way to write this to a file? Perhaps I could convert the dataset into a NumPy array or even a Python list, and then use some file-writing tool? (I could experiment with concatenating the values into a larger string before writing to file, but I'm hoping there's something entirely more elegant)

• Why does the month argument range from 0 to 11 in JavaScript's Date constructor?

  When initializing a new Date object in JavaScript using the below call, I found out that the month argument counts starting from zero. new Date(2010, 3, 1); // that's the 1st April 2010! Why does the month argument start from 0? On the other hand, the day of the month argument (last one) is a number from 1 to 31. Are there good reasons for this?

• Loading an XML file with todays date in the filename... need to fallback to old file if one with tod

Using javascript/jQuery I am currently loading in an XML file that has a file name such as carousel_large_2010-06-08.xml.. the way I am doing it is checked for todays date then grabbing a file that has that date in the filename... the issue is sometimes they wont be uploading a new file for a given day so it needs to fallback to a older date that exists.. Wondering how to do it? • Sending time with timezone from PHP to flash

  I am trying to send the time to flash but set to the currently timezone. When you view the below even though the echo date, looks like its working the $time is the same. When i test in flash I get the extra hour added.   Hai, I would like to calculate actual time from different timezones. I have two mysql tables 1.Timezone table: This table contians two fields (offset value, country name) values are ( -12:00, Eniwetok, Kwajalein) (-11:00, Midway Island, Samoa).... so on 2.My employee table This table contains the employees details with two field names (created_on, timezone) and the values are (current timestamp, -11:00) (current timestamp, -12:00)..... so on Now, If my employee logged in to my system, i want to display the time according to their timezones values from tables. Basically if my Current timestamp is :2010-05-10 15:41:39 offset values is: +5:30 my result should be : 10 May 2010 3:41pm the same for different offset values for the same current timestamp. I believe i explained the issue correctly, if you want any information, please ask me.
