• gvim: Easy copying into system clipboard

  I am using gVim on Ubuntu 10.10. I want to copy (yank) text to the system clipboard, so that the copied text is available in other applications. This works with "+y. But I want to have it working with y. I have tried to map y to "+y but then yy doesn't work anymore (since it produces "+y"+y). I have also tried :set clipboard=unnamed but this works only the other direction: Text in the system clipboard I can paste with p.

• I keep getting OpenSSL Header Version not found error when compiling OpenSSH Debian Squeeze

  I built Openssl1.0.0d ./config shared no-threads zlib It installed fine to the default /usr/local/ssl I went and downloaded OpenSSH 5.8p2 and ran ./configure but now it keeps giving me a Openssl version header not found error even when I set --with-ssl-dir= I've tried it with arguments /usr/local/ssl/include /usr/local/ssl/include/openssl /usr/include /usr/local/ssl/lib I looked in config.log and found error: openssl/opensslv.h: no such file or directory which makes little sense since I pointed openssh to where it is store. /etc/ld.so.conf include /usr/local/ssl/lib I'm at a loss at this point. Answer (maybe): Because I am an idiot. include /usr/local/ssl/lib is incorrect. /usr/local/ssl/lib is correct. It needs to be before the first include.

• PHP: problem rendering large images (error 321)

  Hi ... its me again with a php problem :) Following is part of my PHP script which is rendering JPEG images. ... $tf=$requested_file; $image_type="jpeg"; header("Content-type: image/${image_type}"); $CMD="\$image=imagecreatefrom${image_type}('$tf'); image${image_type}(\$image);"; eval($CMD); exit; ... There is no syntactical error, because above code is working fine for small images, but for large images, it gives: Error 321 (net::ERR_INVALID_CHUNKED_ENCODING): Unknown error. in the browser. To be sure, I created two images using imagemagick from same source image - one resized to 10% of original and other 90%. http://mostpopularsports.net/images/misc/ttt10.jpg works http://mostpopularsports.net/images/misc/ttt90.jpg gives Error 301 in the browser. There is a related question with solution posted by OP here Error writing content through Apache. but I cannot understand how to make the fix. Can someome help me with it? I have looked at the headers in Chrome. For the first request, everything is fine. For the second request - the request headers are all garbled. Both images are jpeg (as they are created from imagemagick. But still to be sure I checked): misc/ttt10.jpg: JPEG image data, JFIF standard 1.01 misc/ttt90.jpg: JPEG image data, JFIF standard 1.01 Finally, the way I fixed is, remove the Transfer-Encoding: chunked header from the response. [This header was sent by apache only when the data was large enough]. (I had an internal proxy, so did it in the proxy script - otherwise one may need to do it in apache settings). There were some good answers and I have selected the one that helped me solve the problem best. thanks JP

  Hello, I am getting the following error when I try to push my app to heroku. I saw a similar thread on here, but the issues seemed related to OSX. • Good reasons to keep 32-bit desktop OS's

  Server software has been 64-bit only for a while now (Since Server 2008 R2 for Windows, even earlier for Exchange and Sharepoint) and even Ubuntu are pushing you away from 32-bit versions for their server OS's. But is there any good, quantifiable reason to keep a 32-bit desktop operating system maintained? We're preparing our Windows 8 images for the (unfortunate?) few that will be early adopters. The majority of our desktop computers have 4gb or less of RAM, but I would love to not have to bother supporting a 32-bit flavoured operating system any more. Any reason why I should?

  I am trying to generate a report using SSRS 2008. During report processing i am facing an error which states.."An error has occured during report processing .Query execution failed for dataset (datasetno).A severe error occured opn the current command.The results if any,should be discarded.Operation cancelled by user ". The datasetname for which query execution is failing is changing randomly.When I am executing those dataset queries seperately it was not throwing any errors.Sometimes I am getting my report without any failure.   I've install mono-runtime via apt in order to run my Mono console application on Ubuntu via SSH. However, when I run the command mono myapp.exe, It exits, with no message, and my program does nothing. If I throw the -v switch to Mono, such as mono -v myapp.exe, I get about 10k lines of output (as expected, -v is verbose), with the first few lines being: converting method System.OutOfMemoryException:.ctor (string) Method System.OutOfMemoryException:.ctor (string) emitted at 0xb7052c28 to 0xb7052c4b (code length 35) [myapp.exe] converting method (wrapper runtime-invoke) <Module>:runtime_invoke_void__this___object (object,intptr,intptr,intptr) Method (wrapper runtime-invoke) <Module>:runtime_invoke_void__this___object (object,intptr,intptr,intptr) emitted at 0xb7052c68 to 0xb7052cf6 (code length 142) [myapp.exe] converting method System.SystemException:.ctor (string) I read this as the runtime throwing an OutOfMemory exception, but the machine is under no intense load, has plenty of available RAM, and is running nothing other that system processes. I've removed and reinstalled Mono countless times, and have even run the executable on other machines perfectly fine. Am I missing something completely obvious here?

• Is there a "restore point" in Linux (Debian/Ubuntu) like Windows?

  I'm working directly in an Ubuntu Virtual Machine (VM). Some updates (like kernel) were available at the update manager. If I weren't using a VM, I wouldn't update it since it's a risk to break something. Since it's a VM, you can create a Snapshot or export an appliance and restore if something goes wrong. Suppose I'm not using a VM with a Debian/Ubuntu installation. Is there a install-restore approach that doesn't depend in a VM configuration to restore your system exactly before an upgrade (Like a "Restore Point" in Windows), being easy to restore like a VM appliance? (I'm not looking for "ghost images" or something like that (Norton Ghost, Clonezilla, etc), I'm looking for something builtin in the Linux System)

  I'm trying do build and debug a small project for BlackBerry. During the build I'm getting this error Error preverifying class java ... I read on the net this error could be caused by referencing multiple projects but I tried to move every package in a single project but the error is still there. I tried with multiple JDE version (currently 4.7) and the Java compiler is set to 1.6. Eclipse version is 3.4.1 as recommended by RIM's documentations. Does someone have some clue?

• Win7 XP mode install fails with cryptic error

  Trying to install XPmode on Win7 Professional 64-bit SP1, but getting an error. I downloaded XPMode, Virtual PC and the update as specified here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx. When I open XP mode for the first time it goes into the setup ("Setting up Windows XP Mode for first use..."; pick your VM password, etc.), then it runs through the progress bar until almost the end (99%?). At that point I get the error: Could not complete Setup. Please try again. Whats going on here? I've uninstalled Virtual PC and xpmode, and reinstalled in several different orders, no luck. Is there some log file that will tell me whats happening? Theres nothing showing up in the Event log that I can find. How can I fix this?

• how to debug BSOD irql_not_less_or_equal error

  So I'm getting the irql_not_less_or_equal BSOD. I tried looking at the event viewer for potential causes, and cannot find any. I also checked the CPU temperature in BIOS right after the error and that was fine. I've tried 2 sets of RAM chips already, both give the issues. The error doesn't happen consistently...it happens daily, but many hours can pass and it won't happen, or only 10 minutes can pass and it might happen again. By the way, just bought the parts and built the computer myself a couple of weeks ago. How to debug the cause for this? • Duplicate Name Exists error from virtual PC with NAT network configuration

  Whenever I change the network configuration to NAT for a virtual machine running under Virtual PC 2007, I get "A duplicate name exists on the network." error. There is no other machine on my network with this name and running the VM in any other network configuration doesn't cause this error. This seems to be a common problem with Virtual PC 2007 based on a google search but no-one seems to have a solution to it. So far, I've discovered that turning off NETBIOS over TCP causes the problem to go away but I need to join this VM to a domain and you can't do that if NETBIOS over TCP is turned off.

  I want to know what exactly the output tells when I do the following : class data { int a=5; } class main { public static void main(String[] args) { data dObj=new data(); System.out.println(dObj); } } I know it gives something related to object as the output in my case is data@1ae73783. I guess the '1ae73783' is a hex number. I also did some work around and printed System.out.println(dObj.hashCode()); I got number 415360643. I got an integer value. I don't know what hashCode() returns, still out of curiosity, when I converted 1ae73783 to decimal, I got 415360643! That's why I am curious that what exactly is this number?? Is this some memory location of Java's sandbox or some other thing? Any light on this matter will be helpful..thanks! :)

  Hi, I need a webserver (lamp) running inside a virtual machine (#1) running as a service (#2) in headless mode (#3) with part or the whole filesystem encrypted (#4). The virtual machine will be started with no user intervention and provide access to a web application for users in the host machine. Points #1,#2 and #3 are checked and proved to be working fine with Sun VirtualBox, so my question is for #4: Can I encrypt the all filesystem and still access the webserver (using a browser) or will grub ask me for a password? If encrypting the all filesystem is not an option, can I encrypt only /home and /var/www ? will apache/php be able to use files in /home or /var/www without asking for a password or mounting these partitions manually? • TypeError: Error #1009 Actionscript 3 help.

  I am extremely frustrated. I'm following a tutorial and mimicing it on my own. I've been able to sort out most of the errors so far but this one has me stumped. I have tried replacing all of the class files with the tutorial specimen ones but i still get the error. TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at com.senocular.utils::KeyObject/construct() at com.senocular.utils::KeyObject() at com.asgamer.basics1::Ship() at com.asgamer.basics1::Engine() Now, not really understanding the error properly I paste dumped the files online for you to look at. • Recovering files from IIS system (inetsrv) directory?

  Some file from my inetsrv directory (c:\windows\system32\inetsrv) were accidentally removed. Is there a way to get them back? Reinstalling IIS server role doesn't help, because Windows doesn't remove inetsrv directory when removing the role. Copying files from another Server 2008 machine doesn't help neither.
