    I'm loading a rather large swf as style with the following command: StyleManager.loadStyleDeclarations("assets/modules/"style.swf",true,false,ApplicationDomain.currentDomain); The style is loaded fine but now I would like to add a progress bar to it, but I do not know how to do so.     I'm searching for some code samples for my Flash application. The app is based on screen-flows , i.e each screen is defined with some visual elements with some buttons which have async events associated with them(consuming web services basically). The buttons also have functionality to go back and forth between screens and jump to any screen. I want to define all of the visual elements and the functionality of the events in a XML file. Thus the model, view and controller are all in the XML. Does any framework allow this like Pure MVC? Where can I find some examples of this kind of functionality that I want?

    Hi guys, I wrote a Flex application that sends a UrlRequest to Facebook and gets the content of page as a string. The application user clicks a button, and the application connects to Facebook. And no I do not mean using Facebook API. It is like a screen scraper. This application worked locally, but when deployed to server it gives a sandbox security error. I have my crossdomain.xml on the root, but I think the problem is not that. Not only Facebook, but I cannot get any web site when the application is deployed on server. What should I do to get the content of a remote web page?

    Hi to all, I need to read a file, which has an "n" number of lines, I need to know when reading the end of each line, so I can store the line in an array, ok so far I have while(stream.position < stream.bytesAvailable) { char = stream.readUTFBytes(1); if(char == "\n") { array.push(line); line = ""; } else { line += char; } } my question is, always the end of line will be "\n"?? how can I be sure if is not an other character like \r??, there is an other character for end of line??, thanks for any help!!!

  • Cross-platform HTML application options

    I'd like to develop a stand-alone desktop application targeting Windows (XP through 7) and Mac (Tiger through Snow Leopard), and if possible iPhone and Android. In order to make it all work with as much common code as possible (and because it's the only thing I'm good at), I'd like to handle the main logic with HTML and JS. Using Adobe AIR is a possibility. And I think I can do this with various application wrappers, using .NET for Windows XP, Objective C for iPhone, Java for Android and native "widget" platform support for Mac and Windows Vista & 7 (though I'd like to keep the widget in the foreground, so the Mac dashboard isn't ideal). Does anyone have any suggestions on where to start? The two sticking points are: I'll certainly need some form of persistent storage (cookies perhaps) to keep state between sessions I'll also probably need access to remote data files, so if I use AJAX and the hosting HTML file resides on the device, it will need to be able to do cross-domain requests. I've done this on the iPhone without any problems, but I'd be surprised if this were possible on other platforms. For me, Android and iPhone will be the easiest to handle, and it looks like I can use Adobe AIR to handle the rest. But I wanted to know if there are any other alternatives. Does anyone have any suggesions?

One of them is a google docs website, and I'm trying to get flex to allow downloads or popups or something that will allow me to do it.     I'm scanning a text document for certain installed programs on a computer and looking for an easy way to include a greater or less than variable in the string I'm scanning for. Here is a very ugly and cumbersome example of what I'm using currently and while it works as a temporary fix, isn't practical or sustainable. Essentially I need to scan for "Adobe Flash Player (Any number less than 11) Plugin" , "Adobe Flash Player (Any number less than 11) ActiveX" , "Java (number less than 9) Update (any number)". I'm sure whatever solution is offered can likely be adapted to similar programs I'm likely to encounter later. I've been told that Flash will quite happily handle such content however I have no experience with Flash nor do I have access to Adobe Creative Suite.     Is there a way to embed a .swf file in a webpage and provide a way to make it fullscreen? I'm creating these files with Adobe Captivate, which doesn't seem to provide a way to publish in other usable formats (.avi files are too big, and no .flv is available, to which there seem to have some players around that allow fullscreen). If there's a way to convert .swf to some other "embedable" format, please let me know.
