  • overriding the Home Key Long press in a category.HOME activity.

    Hello all, I just created my own "Home" to replace the stock android one or Sense. All is working fine and I get all I want. My only problem is to replace to long press on home key ( that usually show the last 6 activities you launched) by my own launcher.   • How do I get the F1-F12 keys to switch screens in gnu screen in cygwin when connecting via SSH?

    I'm connecting to a desktop running cygwin via SSH from the terminal app in Mac OS X. I have already started screen on the cygwin side and can connect to it over the SSH session. Furthermore, I have the following in the .screenrc file: bindkey -k k1 select 1 # F1 = screen 1 bindkey -k k2 select 2 # F2 = screen 2 bindkey -k k3 select 3 # F3 = screen 3 bindkey -k k4 select 4 # F4 = screen 4 bindkey -k k5 select 5 # F5 = screen 5 bindkey -k k6 select 6 # F6 = screen 6 bindkey -k k7 select 7 # F7 = screen 7 bindkey -k k8 select 8 # F8 = screen 8 bindkey -k k9 select 9 # F9 = screen 9 bindkey -k F1 prev # F11 = prev bindkey -k F2 next # F12 = next However, when I start multiple windows in screen and attempt to switch between them via the function keys, all I get is a beep. I have tried various settings for $TERM (e.g. ansi, cygwin, xterm-color, vt100) and they don't really seem to affect anything. I have verified that the terminal app is in fact sending the escape sequence for the function key that I'm expecting and that my bash shell (running inside screen) is receiving it. For example, for F1, it sends the following (hexdump is a perl script I wrote that takes STDIN in binmode and outputs it as a hexadecimal/ascii dump): % hexdump [press F1 and then hit ^D to terminate input] 00000000: 1b4f50 .OP If things were working correctly, I don't think bash should receive the escape sequence because screen should have caught it and turned it into a command. How do I get the function keys to work?

    Hi, Just i come across one application.When i load that application,the actual applcation is like toolbar only.Its get loaded in the top of the screen.And the desktop items automatically get moved and displayed below toolbar.Even when i open any other window and maximized the windoe,its get maximized below toolbar only.The screen co ordinates changed to new size. If before the screen size as (0,0,800,600),after this applcation loading it changed to (0,100,800,600). When i exit the application the screen changed to original position and all desktop items get arranged to original positiom. Hows it possible? Can i do that in MFC.

    Hi, I would like to unlock screen and switching it on to show a popup on an event trigger. I am able to unlock the screen using newKeyguardLock = km.newKeyguardLock(HANDSFREE); newKeyguardLock.disableKeyguard(); on KeyGuardService but I cannot turn on the screen. I am using wl = pm.newWakeLock(PowerManager.SCREEN_BRIGHT_WAKE_LOCK, HANDSFREE); wl.acquire(); but with no success. The screen still remains off. How can I achieve this? Thanks in advance.     I have coded a "website screen scraper" and want to sell it commercially. I know that webpages scraped by the screen scraper are restricted to be scraped by the webmaser of that website. The robots.txt file of the website says that its webpages must not be scraped. So my question is whether selling that screen scraper is a crime or using that screen scraper is a crime in legal terms. I know that this question is related to law but I thought the software experts on SO must also have answer to this question.

  • Loading zsh as the default shell in gnu screen

    Hello, Im using KUbuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx). I have installed zsh and screen. I have set zsh as the default shell, by setting Command to zsh in Settings-Edit Current Profile of the terminal. But,when i launch screen,the bash shell is loaded. If i run the command zsh, then zsh starts but the following message is displayed: "/home/joel/.zshrc:36: Can't add module parameter `mapfile': parameter already exists" Also,zsh is invoked for only the current screen instance and i have to invoke it manually again for other instances. So,is there any way to make screen load zsh by default and invoke it automatically for every instance ? Thank You

    Short Version of the question: I will put a quad. I know the width and height of the screen in window coordinates, i know the Z-coordinates of the quad in 3D. I know the FOVY, I know the aspect. The quad will be put along Z-axis, My camera doesn't move (placed at 0, 0, 0). I want to find out the width and height of the quad IN 3D COORDINATES that will fit exactly onto my screen. Long Version of the question: I would like to put a quad along the Z-axis at the specified offset Z, I would like to find out the width and height of the quad that will exactly fill the entire screen. I used to have a post on gamedev.net that uses a formula similar to the following: *dist = Z * tan ( FOV / 2 )* Now I can never find the post! Though it's similar, it is still different, because I remembered in that working formula, they do make use of screenWidth and screenHeight, which are the width and height of the screen in window coordinates. I am not really familiar with concepts like frustum, fov and aspect so that's why I can't work out the formula on my own. Besides, I am sure I don't need gluUnproject (I tried it, but the results are way off). It's not some gl calls, it's just a math formula that can find out the width and height in 3D space that can fill the entire screen, IF Z offset, width in window coordinates, and height in window coordinates, are known.     Hi, I have a "basic" license agreement screen for now, a Screen with a title set and vertical field containing a textfield, separatorfield and then 2 buttons (accept or decline). The license is pretty long, it's annoying going all the way down (except with the storm it's pretty easy) and I want a kind of popup screen showing the license and the 2 buttons at the bottom. To give you an example, the exact SAME as the Facebook or App World application's license screen agreement! When you scroll the text, it's going a lot faster and it's visualy great. Thank you!

  • Disable home button in android toddler app?

    I've developed and app that is a slide show of pictures which each play a sound when you tap them. It's like a picture book for ages 2-4. The problem is, since android won't let you capture a home button press and essentially disable it, when parents give the phone to their child to play with unattended (brave parent), the child can inadvertenly exit the app and then make calls or otherwise tweak the phone. There are two other apps that currently have a psuedo fix for this issue. The apps are Toddler Lock and ToddlePhone. I've tried contacting the developers of these apps for some guidance but they haven't been willing to disclose anything, which if fine, but does anyone here have any suggestions? It looks like both of those other apps are acting like a home screen replacement app. When you enable the "childproof mode" on those apps the user is prompted to chose and app for the action and the choices are "Launcher, LauncherPro, etc." plus the toddler app. You then have to make the toddler app the default and voila, the phone is "locked" and can only be "unlocked" using a key combination or touching the four corners of the screen, etc. when you "unlock" the phone. your normal home screen app default restored. You don't even have to make the toddler app the default the next time you enable the "childproof mode". I have read that these two apps have problems with Samsung phones and they can cause an an infinite crash-and-restart-loop that requires a factory reset to fix. Obviously this is not the ideal solution to the problem but it looks like the only one availiable at this point. Does anyone have any ideas on how to implement a "childproof mode"?

What I want to do is create something like a layer on top of the screen that only me and my aplication are aware of yet still be able to use aplications as usual. Here's an example: Let's say I want 2 yellow squares 5 by 5 pixels in size appearing in the center of the screen on top of all the other applications, unclickable and invisible to a printscreen.

  • Determining the required depth and specifications for a server cabinet

    I'm trying to understand the considerations ("why") that go into determining the specifications ("what") for a rackmount server cabinet, in order to determine what sort of rack I should purchase for my home use. Since this is for home use, I won't be following certain best practices (eg. hot/cold aisle, not even air conditioning) and may be willing to sacrifice in various areas in order to reduce cost and footprint - but please advise if there are safety concerns or other considerations to note. The most basic specs for a server cabinet are the dimensions (external width x external depth x usable height). Width: commonly 600mm or 800mm (if the use case requires extra clearance around the sides, such as if there is lots of cabling). In my case and most common cases, I'm going to stick with 600mm. Height: Select a sufficiently tall rack to fit my equipment. But how much may I stuff into it? Eg, if there is a 15U rack, can I really populate it with 15U of servers, or should I leave 1U at top and bottom for air circulation? Depth: Racks commonly have external depth of 600mm (network equipment), 800mm, 1000mm, or even longer. I'm trying to see how to fit into the 800mm depth. With reference to http://www.server-racks.com/rack-mount-depth.html, I'm hoping to have the front and rear posts mounted ~ 28.5" (72cm) apart, which would leave only 8cm for front space and rear space. How much rear space (from rear posts to back of rack) do I really need? I won't use cable management arms, so can I mount a 72cm depth server since the power, KVM, network cables won't take up much depth? My most important equipment are all < 60cm depth (4U chassis) and should comfortably fit within the 800mm cabinet. The rest of the equipment are very old 1U servers that range from 65-72cm depth. I might still want to make further use of them, or I might discard them since they are so old. Even if the 72cm servers cannot be powered on in an 800mm rack, I should be able to use them as 1U shelves. But, what server depth can I expect to be able to operate? Or am I forced to upgrade to 1000mm depth racks in order to use any servers deeper than 60cm? With reference to best practices for HP racks, some other specs and installation considerations: There aren't any minimum recommendations for clearance on the sides of the rack. It is recommended to leave 48" front clearance. The 48" front clearance is based on 32" chassis depth, 13" to extend the rack rails and mate the inner/outer rails, and 3" for movement. If I don't use such rails (eg, use shelves instead), it should be sufficient to leave front clearance of chassis depth + 3". It is recommended to leave 30" rear clearance "to provide space for servicing the rack". I'm planning to back the rack into a corner of the room, and wheel it slightly out when I need to access the rear. If the wheeling plan is ok, I still need to know how much rear clearance is required for air circulation and ventilation purposes. Castor wheels and stabilising feet. Since I'm backing the rack into a corner of the room, I'll only be able to set the stabilising feet on the front corners. Thoughts on safety? The rack that I'm considering has front glass doors with side ventilation slits and fully perforated rear doors. I'm hoping this will be a good balance between temperature and noise (only ventilation slits facing out the front, while the rear is facing the walls). Or is the sound of high-rpm fans going to escape through the front slits anyway and destroy my sanity?

Make sure you’re connected to the internet, and then select “Activate Windows online now”. Activation may take a few minutes, depending on your internet connection speed. When it is done, the Activation wizard will let you know that Windows is activated and genuine.  Your upgrade is all finished!   • Screen problems on 11.10 using VGA compatible controller 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller

    I am having problems with my display. The problem manifests as lots of screen artefacts, which seem to be worse in Unity than in Gnome 3, are worse after i have used suspend and are intolerable if i set myself up on a dual monitor. Specific issues include: icons disappearing, lines occurring all over the screen, the backgrounds of certain windows going another colour and window borders disappearing or being filled with text from other parts of the screen. The most annoying problem is lines of text disappearing from a host of word processing programmes (libreoffice, gedit, bluefish etc), as i type. In most circumstances the screen problem can be temporarily fixed (so that i can see the screen clearly) by either scrolling the text off the screen and then scrolling it back onto the screen, or highlighting the offending area of the desktop, by clicking and dragging. Errors on parts of the screen that don't seem to redraw (window borders (off the universal menu) or the screen area outside of a LO document, in print layout view, for example) can't seem to be fixed in a session. I am running 11.10, 64 bit on my Thinkpad x121e Display information is: description: VGA compatible controller product: 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller vendor: Intel Corporation physical id: 2 bus info: pci@0000:00:02.0 version: 09 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: msi pm vga_controller bus_master cap_list rom configuration: driver=i915 latency=0 resources: irq:42 memory:d0000000-d03fffff memory:c0000000-cfffffff ioport:4000(size=64) There appear to be a few problems with the Intel graphics and Ubuntu but i am not sure if they are all the same. If anyone knows if this is a known bug it'd be great to know, otherwise i'll file a report. Should anyone know of a fix i would greatly appreciate hearing about it.   • Recommended storage scheme for home server? (LVM/JBOD/RAID 5...)

    Are there any guidelines for which storage scheme(s) makes most sense for a multiple-disk home server? I am assuming a separate boot/OS disk (so bootability is not a concern, this is for data storage only) and 4-6 storage disks of 1-2 TB each, for a total storage capacity in the range 4-12 TB. The file system is ext4, I expect there will be only one big partition spanning all disks. As far as I can tell, the alternatives are individual disks pros: works with any combination of disk sizes; losing a disk loses only the data on that disk; no need for volume management. cons: data management is clumsy when logical units (like a "movies" folder) are larger than the capacity of any single drive. JBOD span pros: can merge disks of any size. cons: losing a disk loses all data on all disks LVM pros: can merge disks of any size; relatively simple to add and remove disks. cons: losing a disk loses all data on all disks RAID 0 pros: speed cons: losing one drive loses all data; disks must be same size RAID 5 pros: data survives losing one disk cons: gives up one disk worth of capacity; disks must be same size RAID 6 pros: data survives losing two disks cons: gives up two disks worth of capacity; disks must be same size I'm primarily considering either LVM or JBOD span simply because it will let me reuse older, smaller-capacity disks when I upgrade the system. The runner-up is RAID 0 for speed. I'm planning on having full backups to a separate system, so I expect the extra redundancy from RAID levels 5 or 6 won't be important. Is this a fair representation of the alternatives? Are there other considerations or alternatives I have missed? And what would you recommend?

  • loading splash screen takes priority over terminal or windows manager while running elsa

    I recently installed e17 and was trying to set up defaults to use elsa and ecomorph over the standard compiz as it constantly crashes since updating to 12.04. If elsa is installed the loading screen hangs and never loads to login, however i can get to a terminal or the e17 login instead of the standard gdm that usually shows up, within a second the screen goes back to the loading screen. I can still type and login as well as run commands in the terminal, but all I see is the loading screen. Switching between terminals i can confirm my commands before it switches back to the loading screen. If i remove elsa the loading screen hangs, but I can get to a terminal login and run lightdm to start my session with no problems. I have multiple DE installed and am unsure which loading screen is coming up. i think it's the KDE screen, grub comes up with a debian background if that helps. I'm not sure if i can switch the loading screen and resolve this issue or if i'm just going to have to scrap using elsa and get lightdm to load on boot again. Elsa would be my preference. I don't have the space to backup my files for a complete reinstall. Please help!

    Excuse me first for my broken English I have 3 monitors on two Nvidia GT220. Unity 2D works fine after using the proprietary drivers. But no way to use compiz effects.   • When gaming computer freezes with a blank screen and a buzzing sound

    I have a problem with random freezes when playing games. Sometimes it's fine for hours, other times it dosn't last even one. I tried googling around and I found recomendations to update my graphics drivers and to test for overheating. The graphics drivers haven't helped worked and Furmark created a consistant heat higher than I get during a crash. I even tried running a game using the Linux dual boot and WINE, that crashed too. Here are the tempreture logs leading up to the latest crash. The GPU dosn't hit 80, and I've hit 90 with no crash on firmark.     Hello, sorry for my english, i am from russia. so, my pc based on AMD athlon. In past i move harddrive with xp and insert this HardDrive to another PC (Intel core2duo) I do this because i need a lot of files from my pc to another. So after this i back my harddrive to original pc (amd) And i see blackscreen on win-loading! (additional info - i boot this hard on another pc ... i know this is bad =(

  • Windows 7 Dell 1545 rotate screen and change wallpaper

    I recently bought a second monitor and hooked it to my laptop. I like to put the monitor in portrait mode when coding and i can do this with igfx but i was wondering if there was a way to make a keyboard shortcut that will rotate my display 270 degrees and change my wallpaper to one that fits the 1050 X 1680 portrait resolution, and then have a key that rotates back to normal and resets my wallpaper? I have googled to no avail, I look forward to your answers. Thanks in advance, bizarrechaos

  • Lock Windows keyboard and mouse but still display screen normally

    I'm using windows 7, I have a dual monitor display. It displays important information related to the business, I'd rather that random users that walk in can't just walk over to it and start using the computer with the same access rights as the user the monitoring software is running as. What I would like is if any time someone presses a button on the keyboard including alt-ctrl-delete all that would appear is a dialog asking for a password. Then I can click cancel and it will return to showing the data I want displayed. ClearLock doesn't work I tried it btw
