• Add Background Images and Themes to Windows 7 Media Center

  Are you tired of the same Windows Media Center look and feel? Today we’ll show you how change the background and apply themes to WMC. Changing the Basic Color Scheme in WMC There are a couple of very basic color scheme options built in to Windows 7 Media Center. From the WMC Start Menu, select Settings on the Tasks strip and then select General. On the General settings screen select Visual and Sound Effects.   Under Color scheme you’ll find options for Windows Media Center standard, High contrast white, and High contrast black. Simply select a color scheme and click Save before exiting.   If you have used Media Center before you are familiar with the standard blue default theme. There is also the high contrast white. And, the high contrast black. Changing the Background Image with Media Center Studio Themes and custom backgrounds need to be added with the third-party software, Media Center Studio. You can find the download link at the end of this article. You can use your own high resolution photo, or download one from the Internet. For best results, you’ll want to find an image that meets or exceeds the resolution of your monitor. Also, using a darker colored background image is ideal as it should contrast better with the lighter colored text of the start menu. Once you’ve downloaded and installed Media Center Studio (link below), open the application select the Home tab on the ribbon and make sure you are on the Themes tab below. Click New. Select Biography from the left pane and type in a name for your new theme.   Next, click on the triangle next to Images to expand the list below. You’ll want to browse to Images > Common > Background. You should see a list of PNG image files located below Background. We will want to swap out the COMMON.ANIMATED.BACKGROUND.PNG and the COMMON.BACKGROUND.PNG images. Select COMMON.ANIMATED.BACKGROUND.PNG and click on the Browse button on the right.   Browse for your photo and click Open. Your selected image will appear on the left pane. Now, do the same for the COMMON.BACKGROUND.PNG. When finished, select the Home tab on the ribbon at the top and click Save.   Now switch to the Themes tab on the ribbon and the Themes tab below. (There are two Themes tabs which can be a bit confusing). Select your theme on the right pane and click Apply. Note: You won’t see the image backgrounds displayed. Your theme will be applied to Media Center. Close out of Media Center Studio and open Windows Media Center to check out your new background.   You can load multiple backgrounds images and switch them periodically as your mood changes. You might like to find a nice background featuring your favorite movie or TV show.   Perhaps you can even find a background of your favorite sports team.   Installing Themes with Media Center Studio Theme7MC has made available a small group of Media Center Studio Theme packs that are simple to download and install. You can find the download link below. Note: Before installing a theme, turn off any extenders and close Windows Media Center. Download any (or all) of the Theme7MC theme packages to your Media Center PC. Open Media Center Studio, select the Themes tab (the one at the top) and click Import Theme.   Browse for the theme you wish to import and click Open. Select your theme from the themes pane and click Apply. Media Center Studio will proceed to apply your theme. You should then see your new theme appear under Current theme on the left theme pane. Close out of Media Center Studio. Open Media Center and enjoy your new theme. Conclusion Media Center Studio runs on Windows 7 or Vista and gives users a solution for personalizing their Media Center backgrounds. It is a Beta application, however, so it still has a few bugs. Currently, there are only a handful of themes available at Themes7MC, but what they have is pretty slick. • HTML/jQuery/CSS Drop Down Menu Issue / Safari

  I have a drop down menu that is coded in HTML, CSS, and jQuery and it works fine in Firefox and IE but not in Safari, and also not in Firefox on Mac. The drop down displays inline as opposed to list-item for the drop down in Safari. • How to display a JSON error message?

  I'm currently developing a tumblr theme and have built a jQuery JSON thingamabob that uses the Tumblr API to do the following: The user would click on the "post type" link (e.g. Video Posts), at which stage jQuery would use JSON to grab all the posts that's related to that type and then dynamically display them in a designated area. Now everything works absolutely peachy, except that with Tumblr being Tumblr and their servers taking a knock every now and then, the Tumblr API thingy is sometimes offline. Now I can't foresee when this function will be down, which is why I want to display some generic error message if JSON (for whatever reason) was unable to load the post. You'll see I've already written some code to show an error message when jQuery can't find any posts related to that post type BUT it doesn't cover any server errors. • Implementation of Nib project to Storyboard, Xcode

  I have made a tabbed bar application in storyboard in xcode. I,m new to xcode. I got a Sample TableView XIB project from apple that I edited to my needs,The project has a UITableView that I Customized with Images, And with help of a certain forum member I was able to link up each image to a New View Controller. I tried to port or integrate My Nib Project Code to my StoryBoard Tabbed Bar Application.I thought I had everything right had to comment out a few things to get no errors, But the project only goes to a Blank Table View. • change an absolutely positioned webpage into a centered one

  So I have this template design that is currently absolutely positioned, but I'm trying to make it centered in any widescreen browser. I've tried making the width auto on the left and right side in my container, but it is still aligned with the left side.   My Configure Command doesn't say anything about jpg, nor gif/png, but I can see gif/png support in the output of phpinfo(). I built PHP with --with-gd, but only GIF Support and PNG Support are in the output of phpinfo(), how do I enable JPEG Support? UPDATE I got this problem when compiling : Sorry, I cannot run apxs.   Hey all, i am trying my best to figure out another way around this problem i seem to have encountered. On my website i have a jquery calendar and also a jquery div tab slider (this: http://www.queness.com/resources/html/tabmenu/jquery-tabbed-menu-queness.html). The problem comes into play with the DIV tag. The calender loads up inside a DIV with a id of 'calender'. However, if i comment out that css code above, it shows up but does not cover each section as it should. Is there some documentation on this? And why does radio and radio*button work as a search term, but radiobutton not? Edit: I know that * is usually supposed to be a wildcard matching 0 or more characters. But obviously it doesn't in this case.

  I'm looking to get the most compression out of each of the most popular image formats, such as, JPEG, PNG, GIF, etc. Ideally, this would be a tool, or a series of transforms that could be performed (perhaps using a macro and then discarded) in popular image editors (Paint.NET/PaintShopPro/PhotoShop/GIMP) to highlight areas which will compress less. Alternatively, what rules of thumb can be used other than reducing colours (for PNG/GIF), reducing image dimensions, avoiding high detail areas... I'm not asking for help deciding what format to use for a particular image type as I think this is fairly common knowledge, i.e. diagram and images with few colours = PNG/GIF, photographs = JPEG.

• mod_rewrite filename from mod_pagespeed back to normal files

  I am hoping someone can help me with this problem. I am moving to a new server and not using mod_pagespeed any more. However we have lots of external links to images on our site using the strange mod_pagespeed filenames. This is not an issue but we do not want to have lots of 404 errors. So I have lots of links like the following : http://www.domain.com/images/150x150xlink.png.pagespeed.ic.pPXw45HSQm.png http://www.domain.com/images/paris_01.gif.pagespeed.ce.vfrkuKUaj0.gif http://www.doamin.com/images/1st2.gif.pagespeed.ce.OUg38q6VbZ.gif How can I redirect them to : http://www.domain.com/images/150x150xlink.png http://www.domain.com/images/paris_01.gif http://www.doamin.com/images/1st2.gif There are thousands of files like this so I am hoping for a simple solution with mod_rewrite, I tried this but it does not work. • Grabbing all <a> tags in a specific div and displaying them

  So I'v got a small problem with my portfolio site (you can see it at here) When you click on a portfolio piece, a top section opens up to reveal the details (Title, year, role, description) as well as the photos. I'v been able to get each project to replace all the text data, but I can't seem to get the images to load into the thumbnails. I have been able to get the last image i'm looking for in all of the images on the site, but not display each photo for each project. • ImageMagick convert to png32, can't change background at all

  So I'm stumped. I've been wrestling with this simple command to turn an SVG file into a transparent SVG to no avail. Here's my command convert svg:/home/media/svgTest.svg -quality 100 -background none -size 3300x3300 png32:/home/media/pngTest.png The PNG comes out fine, but the background is white. Upon further investigation - the PNG's background is white no matter what I set the -background option to. I've tried black, tomato4, and even various hex colors. Nothing - just white. My SVG has no background fill layer or anything like that, it's just a couple of blue path layers. Also, I am running ImageMagick v 6.6.9-7 on Ubuntu 12.04 Lts What am I doing wrong? Thanks

• Variable for the suffix of $request_uri that didn't match the location block prefix

  Suppose I want to move an /images/ directory to an images host so that what was before http://example.org/images/foo.png becomes http://images.example.org/foo.png. If I do: location /images/ { return 301 http://images.example.org$request_uri; }, the result is a redirect to http://images.example.org/images/foo.png which isn't what I want. An older question has an answer that suggests using a regexp location, but that seems like an overkill. Is there really no way to refer to $request_uri with the location prefix chopped off without using regular expressions? Seems like an obvious feature to have.
