  • Telerik OpenAccess ORM and the XML Metadata Source

    We all know that Telerik OpenAccess ORM has a completely new face with the Q1 2010 release so it is about time to start blogging about some of the features and improvements that the new Visual Designer brought along.  Today I will talk about one of the most notable changes in the new version of OpenAccess ORM and that is the XML only mapping. You all know that so far with the previous versions of the product the mapping information was defined by a mix of XML configuration files and CLR attributes. After a lot of customer feedback and thorough thought we decided to make the XML and the attributes as two separate and self-contained sources of metadata information about your model.   • background: why not sync folders outside home with ubuntu-one?

    It took me a while to find out that with ubuntu-one I can sync only folders in my home-folder. On all other folders the ubuntu-one - option is available in preferences, but the actual actions are greyed out. the ubuntu-faq is quite clear on that: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOne/FAQ/CanISyncAFolderOutsideMyHomeFolder But I actually wonder why and if this is going to change and if there is a trick around it (an other one than setting my home to / ;) ) I personally dont have any important data in my home-folder other than the program-configs.   • Menus don't sync in the first place

    I have been wrestling with prompts about my default key ring for months, finally made contact with Ubuntu with the right password, and find that when I try to sync evolution Ubuntu directs me to "system-preferences- " and then the road forks between the "passwords and encryption" you indicate and the "encryption and keyrings. I have no idea which version I am using, at this point. The road goes downhill from there. I would really like to synch my windows manager and Inkscape vs. ImageMagick display (circles display as semicircles). Can someone set me straight?

  • How to make 8.04's screen saver enter screen into standby?

    I am using Ubuntu 8.04 and despite using 'gnome-power-manager' to set dpms_method_ac to 'off' for backlight, the screen will not enter standby after set time. Also, "Put display to sleep when inactive for:" (via System-Preferences-Power Management) is already set to 1 minute. Interestingly enough, this only happens when I am logged in. When I am logged out, the screen does go into standby after set time. So I know it's not the screen... Any idea how make Ubuntu 8 screen saver enter screen into standby, while logged in?

  • Why Gsettings isn't enough to reset my nautilus settings?

    I'm trying to narrow down a bug (to eventually report it or give up if it'll turn out that resetting a simple setting will be enough to get rid of it) I noticed that with a brand new user the bug doesn't pop up so I tried to reset the config of my user's nautilus I renamed .config/nautilus I renamed .nautilus2 (strange name... why the 2?) and I did a gsettings reset-recursively org.gnome.nautilus strangely enough, it didn't work: I previously set up to use my home as the desktop folder, and now the key has correctly been resetted $gsettings get org.gnome.nautilus.preferences desktop-is-home-dir false and yet on my desktop I see the contents of my home folder (meaning that the settings have not been resetted) I know that with the transition to gtk3 there've been lots of changes (before I should've used gconf... but now there's dconf and gsettings), so there're quite a bit of question about nautilus... but these unfortunately now seem to be outdated

    Is there a way to prevent session id restore on startup/restart of user's system? We are using a asp.net app and I am able to login and access the site. For the first time session id is created and stored in cookies. Problem: But if I restart my system without signing out, the session is still alive. How can I prevent this? from server side. I can try to delete cookies but it is not practical, as each user will have different preferences.

  • How to make my proxy settings change depending on the network I connect to?

    My company's corporate network requires me to set a network proxy to access the net, but when I am anywhere else, I don't need it. The proxy settings in Ubuntu (System - Preferences - Proxy server) allowed me to create "locations" that I can manually select. Then I have a "default" location (with no proxy) and a "work" location (with my company's proxy in it). Is there a way to make Ubuntu automatically select the "work" location based on the connection I'm using? I thought I could use the IP subnet (very specific) to detect where I am, but I have no idea how to set it up... Edit: I really need to have the proxy settings set at the system level. All my network connections (IMAP, SMTP, chat, etc) need to go through the proxy. Not only the web browser.

  • Neither suspend nor hibernate in 12.10 lubuntu - is there a workaround by scripts?

    I've neither suspend to ram nor to disk in 12.10 lubuntu (i suspect there might be a kernel issue but i'm only a simple user). Also, the xfce powermanagement which comes with lubuntu by default does not have any effect. Even it doesn't lock the screen when i set this in the preferences: What do when close the lid. So, on a portable that's annoying a lot. Is there some way to workaround by scripts in 'etc/pm/*.d'? TIA for any idea.

  • iPhone-like Keychain in Android?

    I'm looking for something like the keychain on the iPhone, but for Android development. Something that gives me the possibility to save small key-value pairs, that are persistent and unchanged even if the user reinstalls the application. Is there something like that? Can I use the standard preferences that way? Edit I would like to achieve a behavior in a way it works with games on a PC writing the save games to another folder so that after delete and later reinstall they are not lost.

I tried things like this to get the music preferences : facebook_session.user.music but I get a blank string instead of the relevant connections.     Hello, I have a problem with m2eclipse (0.10.0) together with eclipse galileo (Build id: 20090920-1017). I always get the error message:"Eclipse is running in a JRE, but a JDK is required". I have tried several things, but nothing works. The error message is still there. Here are the things I have tried: In WindowPreferencesJavaInstalled JREs I checked JDK1.6.0_20. DOES NOT WORK In WindowPreferencesJavaInstalled JREs I removed all JREs. Only the checked JDK1.6.0_20 is still there. DOES NOT WORK In WindowPreferencesJavaInstalled JREsExecution Environments I choosed JavaSE-1.6 and checked JDK1.6.0_20[perfect match]. DOES NOT WORK. In Preferences of the eclipse desktop start icon I added the -vm parameter (C:\Programme\eclipse_galileo\eclipse\eclipse.exe -vm C:\Programme\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\bin). DOES NOT WORK. I added the clean parameter (C:\Programme\eclipse_galileo\eclipse\eclipse.exe -vm C:\Programme\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\bin -clean). DOES NOT WORK. I added the -vm parameter to the eclipse.ini file with a carriage return after -vm and C:/Programme/Java/jdk1.6.0_20/bin/javaw.exe in a new line. DOES NOT WORK. After doing all these things I removed the m2eclipse plugin and installed it once again. DOES NOT WORK. New ideas I have tried: In Preferences of the eclipse desktop start icon I put the executable at the end (C:\Programme\eclipse_galileo\eclipse\eclipse.exe -vm C:\Programme\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\bin\javaw.exe). DOES NOT WORK. I changed in eclipse.ini the slashes to backslashes. DOES NOT WORK. Here is my eclipse.ini file: -startup plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.0.201.R35x_v20090715.jar --launcher.library plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.win32.win32.x86_1.0.200.v20090519 -product org.eclipse.epp.package.jee.product --launcher.XXMaxPermSize 256M -showsplash org.eclipse.platform --launcher.XXMaxPermSize 256m -vm C:\Programme\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\bin\javaw.exe -vmargs -Dosgi.requiredJavaVersion=1.5 -Xms40m -Xmx512m Is anyone out there who have other ideas?     I am fairly new to XCode and the Objective-C language. When I am instantiating a class, for example an NSMutableArray, XCode will provide a whole lot of auto-complete options. Even for an empty class which simply extends an NSObject has many options, most of which seem completely useless. What is the reason for having so many auto-complete options, or can they be "tamed" in the preferences?

    I'm getting this error when trying to run unit tests from Eclipse with an Android Project. The list of Instrumentation Test Runners is empty in the Android preferences. [2009-06-17 23:57:51 - MyApp] ERROR: Application does not specify a android.test.InstrumentationTestRunner instrumentation or does not declare uses-library android.test.runner Google-fu failing me. It's also annoyingly decided that because I tried to run a unit test once, that's what I always want to do... Grr

    I'm attempting to compile Arduino code in the Eclipse IDE using WinAVR and the AVR IDE plugin, and I'm running into one major stumbling block - when I try to compile the code I get the following error: /usr/bin/sh: g++: command not found make: *** [main.o] Error 127 Yeah, I bet not...I'm using Windows Vista. I have the paths to WinAVR's avr-g++ all set correctly in the preferences tab, does anyone know why it might be doing this?

  • How do I add the Java Api Documentation to Eclipse?

    Hi I have downloaded Java API documentation from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html#docs and have supposedly attached it to Eclipse using the Window-Preferences-Java-Installed JREs-Edit-"Select rt.jar"-Javadoc Location AND the location has been accepted and "Validates" just fine. However, for the life of me, I can't get Eclipse to show the Javadocs in the tooltip whene I hover over an item (for example in the declaration of an ArrayList). I have also restarted Eclipse in attempts to get it to work what am I doing wrong? Thank you

  • XCode Build and Run

    I recently reinstalled OSX, and am having a slight annoyance with XCode. Before I reinstalled, I could just hit CMD + Enter, and it would build, then flip the main editor screen to the debugger, where it would show NSLogs, crashes, etc. Now, when I hit CMD + Enter, it just runs the app and stays in the code editor screen. Is there an option I'm missing? I've scoured the preferences, and can't seem to find anything.

    On my brand new Windows 7 machine, I downloaded Eclipse (Galileo) and several Eclipse plugins (Android's ADT plugin, Subclipse, etc.) After rebooting, neither of these plugins are showing up in the IDE (nothing in the preferences, menus, etc.) but if I click "Installation Details" in the 'About Eclipse' popup, I see all of the plugins listed as Installed Software. (ex. Android DDMS 0.9.5, Subclipse 1.6.5, etc.) How do I get my plugins to work?

The editor is not in my list of editors so I cannot do "Open with Django Editor" on a file nor associate a file extension with it. It appears nowhere in my preferences.
