  • Page cache - initiate the first page request in the server

    Hi, I'm implementing Outputcache in my application and it works fine, but the first time always take a lot to load and the next following request will be faster... I would like to know if there is a way to initiate the page caching on the server side and serve the cached page upon the very first request, rather than have it triggered by the user one first time.     I'm using BITS to make requests to a ASP.NET MVC controller method named Source that returns a FileResult. I know the type FilePathResult uses HttpResponse.TransmitFile, but I don't know if HttpResponse.TransmitFile actually writes the file to the response stream regardless of the request type. My question is, does FileResult only include the header information on HEAD requests, or does it transmit the file regardless of the request type? Or, do I have to account for HEAD requests myself?

    My website serves gzipped content. I verified with Firebug and YSlow. However, JMeter does not request the gzipped content. Therefore, it gets all uncompressed content. As a result, my test cases take much longer (6-10x longer) than they do in reality. How can I make JMeter request gzipped content from a website? FYI, I am using the latest stable build: JMeter 2.3.4 r785646.

The webservice (.Net 1.1) uses HttpContext.Current.Request.UserLanguages[0] to determine the language to use. But the value of this member is alway null. So is there a way to pass the Accept-Language header along with something like "en-GB" set?

  • Double request from mod-rewrite

    I've written a module that sets Apache environment variables to be used by mod-rewrite. It hooks into ap_hook_post_read_request() and that works fine, but if mod-rewrite matches a RewriteRule then it makes a second call to my request handler with the rewritten URL. This looks like a new request to me in that the environment variables are no longer set and therefore I have to execute my (expensive) code twice for each hit. What am I doing wrong, or is there a work around for this? Thanks

    I have a form (on page form.html) submitting with POST method to a CGI-C page - let's call it form.cgi - and what form.cgi does is it redirects the user to the previous page (to form.html) with appending query strings using HTTP-EQUIV Refresh META after 5 seconds. However, if I monitor the Web server's access.log although I see the appropriate POST request for form.cgi there is an additional GET request for form.cgi again, after 5 seconds just before redirecting the user to form.html Has anyone faced with such an issue?

    I have a page and few controls. I'm doing a normal postback. On InitializeCulture event of the page the Page.Request object contains e.g. controls with their values - and that's great. But on the other hand, when I'm trying to access this collection on the Page_Load or OnInit events, it's way smaller and doesn't have any of the controls that have been there before. Can anyone tell me what happens with Page.Request between these events?

    Hi Guys, I am building a widget for my users and trying to get it working however I keep running into a X-Domain issue with this header. httpfox gives me - NS_ERROR_DOM_BAD_URI - and on further investigation I find that its Access-Control-Request-Method: GET Access-Control-Request-Header: x-requested-with I am not sure why its not loading but I basically call a script and then I am trying to grab some html to load it but it gets blocked with the above headers. How can I get around this prob ?

    Here's the error: The incoming request does not match any route. Basically I upgraded from Preview 1 to Preview 2 and got rid of a load of redundant stuff in relation to areas (as described by Phil Haack). It didn't work so I created a brand new project to check out how its dealt with in Preview 2. The file Default.aspx no longer exists which contains the following: public void Page_Load(object sender, System.EventArgs e) { // Change the current path so that the Routing handler can correctly interpret // the request, then restore the original path so that the OutputCache module // can correctly process the response (if caching is enabled). string originalPath = Request.Path; HttpContext.Current.RewritePath(Request.ApplicationPath, false); IHttpHandler httpHandler = new MvcHttpHandler(); httpHandler.ProcessRequest(HttpContext.Current); HttpContext.Current.RewritePath(originalPath, false); } The error I received points to the line httpHandler.ProcessRequest(HttpContext.Current); yet in newer projects none of this even exists. To test it, I quickly deleted Default.aspx but then absolutely nothing worked, I didn't even receive any errors.     We're using Rails 3.0.7 and REE 1.8.7. Long-term, we will be upgrading, but at the moment it's not feasible. Following the advice of several blog posts, we've been tuning our GC, and have settings that work pretty well. But we would really like to run GC outside of the request-response cycle. I've tried patching Passenger per this post, and using the code supplied in this SO question. In both cases, GC does indeed happen between requests.     in a double-submitted cookie csrf prevention scheme, is it necessary for the server to provide the cookie? it seems i could have javascript on the clients page generate and set a cookie "anti_csrf", then double submit that (once as a cookie, done by the browser, and once in the body of the request). a foreign domain would not be able to read or write the "anti_csrf" cookie to include it in the body of a request. is this secure, or am i overlooking something?

  • Cannot get Request.Form by name in ASP.NET

    I have an ASP.NET page which utilizes jQuery for an autocomplete-type scenario. The jQuery tucks the actual selected values into a hidden field it creates on the fly, but for some reason I cannot get the value of that standard HTML field on postback by calling Request.Form["HiddenFieldName"]. I can see it by ordinal in the Request.Form object, but if I add/remove controls it will break. Any suggestions?
