• Merge two PDF files containing even and odd pages of a book

  I have two searchable PDF documents, say even.pdf and odd.pdf which contain even and odd pages of a book, respectively. I can decompile each PDF to separate files 001.pdf 002.pdf 003.pdf, et cetera. The question is how to merge them? They are both even and odd sequences numbered 1, 2, 3. If the numbering in the decompile process with pdftk were different, e.g. 1, 3, 5 for even and 2, 4, 6 for odd instead of 1, 2, 3, 4, I could simply merge them. Can I do this any other way?

• Can't find second partition on encrypted drive with two partitions

  I have a drive with two partitions, a system partition (Windows 7) and a partition just for data. Both are encrypted with the same password. I didn't had any problems, but yesterday my laptop gets broken. Now, I'm trying to connect the drive via USB to a new laptop and read it. The problem is, that I only see the system partition, not the one with my data. When I click on "Select Device", I can see my drive as "Harddisk 1" with 300 gb. But I only see a single partition "Partition1" with 117 gb. I'm unable to find the second one. It's not a hidden partition. Any ideas? Thanks.

• Slow Web Performance on two Windows 2008 R2 Terminal Servers

  We have two Windows 2008 R2 servers that we use for agents to log into to access our customers systems. Saturday morning we received complaints that on both servers the web is running horribly slow. This happens on all websites and the majority of the time the web site times out trying to load. Other users located at the same site but using their desktop machine do not see any issue. We have rebooted the boxes and checked settings and cannot find the cause. The CPU/Memory/Network/Disk Space use on the server is very low. I thought it might have been a MS update causing the issue but it appears the last update was applied in January. We have rebooted both boxes and I am in process of trying a different browser. Any ideas what could be causing this?

• Copy files between two windows machines on seperate domains

  I need to copy several database backups between two computers. The source computer initiates the copy and is a Windows 2000 pc and is a member of domain1. The destination machine is running Windows Server 2000 and is a member of domain2. The machines are on separate networks physically connected via a firewall. The files are currently copied via ssh with http://sshwindows.sourceforge.net/ installed on the destination machine. There is no need to encrypt the contents during the copy, however the passwords should not be sent in the clear. I am looking for a way to copy the files without having to install a server on the destination. I specifically need help with how to set up the permissions and what ports would need to be opened on the firewall.

• Usage of two Routers on LAN

  I've currently own a Linksys E4200 and a Thomson 546v6. Because I have an IPTV service I must set the Thomson as the main router connected to the phone line so that I can distribute the video signal for 2 specific ports and the other two for LAN Access. The problem is that the Thomson doesn't like port forwards, it usually doesnt work and since I have a good router (linksys) currently only working as Access Point I would like to use it as a router itself. I don't want to do a NAT beyond NAT so my question is should I connect the E4200 and to thomson and set the E4200 as a DMZ machine and then control all trafic on the E4200 itself or is there any other option that could suit my needs better?

  I'm trying to test a network device (firewall) using a Linux box, with two network cards, one interface connected to the WAN zone and another interface to LAN zone. The configuration is similar with that |ETH0| <-> | FW | <-> ETH1 So from both interfaces I'm able to ping the respective firewall interface. But i'm not able to fire something like: ping -I eth0 ip.from.eth1 and to get any answer. Is that possible or should the linux network namespace solution or user level tcp stacks (VMs are out of question)

I can connect from server 1 to a third server and from that third server to both 1 and 2. In all cases I am using the IP address and not a host name.   All my firmware is up to date on the server and the controllers. Storage crashed over the weekend. I rebooted it and it detected that I put in two new disks last week (I did check that both disk completed the rebuilding process last week). After it booted into the OS I see that it gave me an information message. After 18 hours it is at 54% so it is looking healthy. But I need to replace 5 more disk in the msa. Should I wait for this message to finish before replacing more disks? 785 Background parity initialization is currently queued or in progress on Logical Drive 1 (15.0 TB, RAID 5). If background parity initialization is queued, it will start when I/O is performed on the drive. When background parity initialization completes, the performance of the logical drive will improve.

My desire is to utilize both of them with some load balancing.   I just set up an Exchange server to replace my DeskNow mail server. I want to start testing my internet mail exchange of my Exchange server. I can only set the MX records on my DNS up to my one external IP address so I was thinking that I could set up a firewall rule on my internet-facing firewall that port forwarded the smtp packets to two different servers. My question is: If I do that, will that mean that the smtp packets will be forwarded to just the first internal IP on the list? Or does it mean that the packet will be cloned and sent to both IPs?

The idea will be that if a certificate is detected the user will be asked for an additional password/PIN and that will be used to verify the certificate and user.   I have some servers in this configuration: And I am not able, from VMGuest1, to ping either VMGuest3 or VMGuest4. I can, however, ping Host1 and Host2, which are attached to pSwitch1. The behavior is the same with VMGuest3 or 4 trying to ping VMGuest 1 or 2. I don't have promiscuity enabled for any of these switches, nor do I have a bridge set up inside ESXi for the virtual switches. I know that one of these options is usually necessary when trying to get connectivity between two virtual switches. These switches are connected, however, through their respective physical switches which are bridged together. Ping just times out, arp request looks like this: [root@vmguest1:~]# arp -a vmguest3 vmguest3.example.com (1.2.3.4) at <incomplete> on eth0 [root@vmguest1:~]# arp -a host1 host1.example.com (1.2.3.5) at 00:0C:64:97:1C:FF [ether] on eth0 VMGuest1 can reach hosts on pSwitch1, so why can't it get to hosts on vSwitch1 through pSwitch1 the same way?

  The setup is one server (Windows 2008) at one location with two incoming connections. As the server has to interface with various on-site devices, and will have a small number of incoming connections, a data center is not an option, and instead cable/dsl connections must be used. The goal is that users visit https://service.site.com and are sent to either the primary IP address or a secondary IP if the primary is down. I've seen advice to use round robin DNS for this, but caching an IP for a downed interface is something I'd like to avoid. Is something like this possible with these constraints?

  I have recently bought an Samsung UE32ES5500 and I want to connect it to the internet. Not wanting to buy an expensive Samsung wireless adapter for the TV, I've decided to use an ethernet cable. Because the Internet cable passes through underground to the bedroom and the TV is located in the living room, i decided to put a router in the bedroom, and receive it's signal in the living room using a windows 7 laptop. Afterwards I connected the laptop to the TV through an ethernet cable, and bridged the two connections in Network Connections in Control Panel on the laptop. The TV successfully finds the laptop (and the router I think) but still cannot connect to the internet. Does anyone knows a solution to this problem? (the connections must be bridged because I want to have only one network in the house)

  I have a site that lists offers, promotions from other websites. Since the offers expire rather quickly I don't save them into my database. I see no point in having a page from 2010 about 30% discount on a certain brand of shoes which isn't availabe anymore. A visitor enters my website; He clicks on the "shoes" category; http://www.mysite.com/shoes/ Here he sees 20 available promotions from different online stores. He clicks on a promotion and gets to a page like this: http://www.mysite.com/shoes/promotions/prada Questions: I use the template promotions.php and list all the promotions. /promotions/prada/ /promotions/otherbrand/ .... What I do is use "noindex, follow" for the links. Is that a good idea? Or should I use rel="canonical" for the promotion page? How do you advise me to handle this from the SEO point of view?

Background: I am an existing user on the computer, and soon I'll be sharing the computer with an employee. Both accounts are administrators, and I have already tried to use hard links to accomplish this. However the prompt leaves me with "Access Denied". • load balancing two web servers each on two different isp's?

  I have two ISP's that provide me hosting via apache / php / mysql. I am running drupal on them. On occasion the mysql server will go away (crash), so I was hoping to find a reasonable way to have a fail over, if server A SQL is down, all traffic is sent to server B. I know traditionally this is handled in DNS where a second alternate ip is given if there is a problem - or similar. But I do not have control over the isp, other than I can run php, perl and the usual apache stuff. Also, I have static ip's on each isp, and I can create dns entries (A/CNAME/TXT). So, I was hoping there might be a way for me to have a script that checks if drupal has a problem, and if so, somehow alter dns, or ? Or, any other ideas? (other than spending lots more $ on a better isp)

What is the best solution to keep two external harddrive in sync? i'll probably use one as regular and maybe use the other only to copy data.   there is a network including a router, two hosts and a switch which connects hosts to router. i have a virtual machine on my system. the network adapter is set to act as bridge. so the virtual machine and real OS are my 2 hosts on different LAN. they use one network card and are connected to a switch. when each of host send a packet to the other one, the switch duplicate the packet and forward it to both router and the other host. how can I solve the duplicate packet problem? The reason I don't use "Publish to provider" is that I'm not sure that I have all the information necessary to do so.   I want to be able to route between two vlans that I have created and I am not sure how to go about it. So I have created, VLAN 5 with IP Address 192.168.5.1/24 and VLAN 10 with IP Address 192.168.0.1/24 //main IP addresses that I use. How would I be able to get (for example) the IP Address 192.168.0.144 to see any ip addresses in 192.168.5.1/24? Also do you have to set a default gateway for each VLAN or do you set the default gateway for the switch.

  I have been trying to find an answer to this, but all I get is hobbyists trying to connect they linksys's and get some magic out of it. So I am thinking of a way I could combine two 100Mbp Fiber Optics lines into a single connection for our office. I assume it involves some CISCO learning or something like this. Was thinking that I might need to configure some big router to load-balance the NAT'ing in some way. I assume that meny of you have done something similar and maybe someone could share the knowledge or at least provide some tips ?
