    My son received a DVD with some AVI files of his soccer game. (I think they're from a Sharp camcorder, but I'm not 100% sure of that). How can I convert them to a format that he can view on his ipod touch? I have a Mac, Linux and Windows machines available, so any platform-specific recommendations are welcome.

  • Converting flv and mp4 video format to '.ogg' using FFmpeg

    I have HostGator VPS server with FFmpeg installed. It allows me to convert .wmv to .flv as well as .mp4 files successfully using the following commands for flv and mp4: ffmpeg -i WantsABath.wmv -b 600k -r 24 -ar 22050 -ab 96k WantsABath.flv ffmpeg -i WantsABath.wmv WantsABath.mp4 but it won't allow me to convert any file format to .ogg. I tried using the command: ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -acodec libvorbis -vcodec libtheora -f ogv output.ogv by mondain but no luck with it. I am doubting that my VPS doesn't have libtheora installed. I tried configuring it by using SSH but I don't know how to make sure if it is installed or not. I tried checking with php_info but can't find anything regarding libtheora.   • 3000 videos songs... some are loud in voice & some low.. I want to make them equal (equal in volume only)

    I have thousands Video flv/avi files, which are all songs only. Some of them are high in volume and some are low. Every time the song ends I have to up or down the volume at once..to escape my ears ruined by headphones... and by woofers, save my life from my neighbor sleeping after hard-earning all the day long. :-( Any idea to make all files sound equal? Does such kind of application/software exist? Any converter that may convert all audio files into same volume? I know iTunes has sound-check option but can it convert? If I want to write CDs, does any burner have the feature like this, to burn in equal sound? If yes, suggest something for me... For, I am really really worried... It would be a great help.....     I uploaded my video to youtube and the highest resolution it appears as is 360p. This is much lower than what I uploaded. I believe that youtube isn't making higher resolutions available for my video because of its aspect ratio. The video is 720x400. How can I convert this to a different aspect ratio without losing any of the picture or picture quality? I don't care if blank space appears around the video so long as the picture doesn't get stretched horizontally or vertically.

  • free Raw-File Converter/Editor

    I have RAW files output by a program with a specific set of properties (Photoshop RAW, 16 bits, IBM PC byte order, no header, 1 non-interleaved channel, variable sizes like 257X257 or 129X513); does anyone know of a free tool that will allow me to convert to and from this format, and possibly do basic editing (selection, copy/paste, rotation of selection)? I've tried Picasa, XNView, and Paint Shop Pro 7 and none of them work properly. The closest i get is Paint Shop Pro which will at least make a serviceable attempt to open these files but i can't set all of the proper settings. XNView just might be able to edit it if i can figure out how to change the open settings for a particular raw file. So my questions at current are: how do i tell XNView to open a raw file a particular way? Failing that, is there any free tool that can open Photoshop-RAW files with the above settings (that's not photoshop)? If it helps, i'm trying to import/export/edit hieghtmap data for maps for Supreme Commander.

    I want to downsample an existing audio file to 8KHz mono. This command line downsamples it to stereo: mplayer -quiet -vo null -vc dummy -af volume=0,resample=8000:0:1 -ao pcm:waveheader:file="/tmp/blah1.wav" ~/from_my_cellphone.3ga It generates a file that the file utility identifies as stereo: $ file /tmp/blah1.wav /tmp/blah1.wav: RIFF (little-endian) data, WAVE audio, Microsoft PCM, 16 bit, stereo 8000 Hz Now, if I read the documentation correctly, I should add pan=1:0.5:0.5 so I get a file that's half the size: mplayer -quiet -vo null -vc dummy -af volume=0,resample=8000:0:1:pan=1:0.5:0.5 -ao pcm:waveheader:file="/tmp/blah2.wav" ~/from_my_cellphone.3ga But it doesn't! blah2.wav is identical to blah1.wav! What am I doing wrong?

  • How to embed word doc as background picture of an Access report using .EMF or equivalent ?

    My company's standard paper has logo, address and all the details in the right margin with a vertical blue line. I have that as a word template. I want to have the same thing as the background of my Invoices report. I managed to do that 5 years ago by saving to EMF format (vector format, prints out nicely) and putting the file as the background of the report. Now my company is moving, and I need to change the address on my invoices, but I can't find out how I did to convert the word doc to EMF. Any suggestion ? By EMF or another process, but I want to avoid BMP, which is huge and does not print nicely. Thanks !

  • How can I convert and repair MPEG-TS (DVB-S captures) for better playback?

    I have a lot of MPEG-TS video files (H.264 video with AC3 or MP3 in a .TS container) captured from a DVB-S capture card. When I play these videos it's much slower to seek in the video (ie. skip 30 seconds, etc) than with other files. I'm not sure if the problem is the H.264 encoding (reference frame count?) or the MPEG-TS container, or if the MPEG-TS file contains sync errors, etc. Does anybody have a good workflow for converting and repairing these files?

    After a quick search I found that through a command prompt I can convert a drive from FAT32 to NTFS without losing data(see here). What I want to ask here is, how safe is this method on a 1.5 TB drive with 500 GB of data? What are the chances of this freezing up(or is there really nothin to worry about) and what is the probable time, a couple of minutes or a whole hour?   • Batch converting video from avc1 to xvid

    I need a way to batch convert 720p video files from avc1 to xvid in Ubuntu 10.04. I'm not terribly concerned about file size, but I do wish to retain the picture quality as much as possible. I believe the audio is encoded as aac, which is fine for my purposes. What would be the best and easiest way to do this? I've tried using Handbrake. During my first attempt, I had it using ffmpeg to convert to MPEG-4, but that just gave me a super-low quality video at twice the file size. Trying h.264 now, so we'll see how that works out. But just in case it doesn't pan out so well, what other ways do you recommend? I was thinking I'd write a bash script to reencode the files one by one, but the problem is that I have very little knowledge about codecs and containers and whatnot - so I wouldn't know what parameters I would pass ffmpeg/mencoder.

    I asked a version of this question earlier, but I'm in need of other solutions, so this is a more pointed question. I'm in need of a server-based solution for converting ppt files to pdf files. This solution can either sit on the current web server as a console command-triggered service, it can be integrated into the C# code of the web all, or it can be it's own server. It also can't be based off of Libreoffice or Openoffice, as those two have problems converting SmartArt. I'm currently using Libreoffice. I've tried Powerpoint console commands combined with a PDF driver but I can't get that to work from C#. I've tried a .vbs script, but that briefly opens the powerpoint window.

    OK, here is my situation: I made a knowledge base for a company, they have about 500 word documents with screenshots in them explaining procedures and such. I can easily paste the text into the cms wysiwyg editor on the knowledge base but the images need to be uploaded one at a time, then sized and placed in the article. Question: Is there any suggestions for an automatic method to to convert the documents to html with the appropriate image tags and links to the images in them, and export/package the images for ftp upload? I can already convert them to HTML automatically using a batch file and a program, but converting the images to the correct tags with href link, then exporting them for ftp is where i need some help. Might not even be possible, but if anyone has tried to do something like this I would like to here how you approached this.

If the script also deleted the original AppleWorks file, that would be even better, but not required.     I often convert & combine (via contextmenu) HTML pages to PDF using Acrobat (not Acrobat Reader). I use Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 Extended, version 9.1.2. The converted PDFs always have the full path of the original file on the bottom of the PDF-page, also they have an additional header line with the document. I need to suppress that. I do not want the unsolicited header and footer in the resulting PDF files as they are a pain to reomve manually, with a certain page count per document it becomes impossible. Is it possible to suppres that and if, how?

And choose the output format to be xVid(.avi)<--that is exactly what is written on the application. I don't want to waste a blank dvd and try if it really can be played. So if you have tried this before please tell me if it works. And I have tried burning .avi files and it works because they are genuine avi files which I did not convert
