• How to open a pdf on the iPad from an AIR for iOS app

  I am making an AIR for iOS app that can download pdfs. I do not want to display the pdf in the app itself but want the default pdf-viewer (iBooks) to launch and show the pdf. How can this be done. I am aware that navigateToURL can be used to open a file with the uri scheme of iBooks. But i dont know how to tell iBooks to look in the app-directory of my app. (Or is there some secret directory to place the file in from within the app - where iBooks can find it) Any pointers or help would be greatly appreciated as this is somewhat of a show stopper.

• Posting to tumblr in PHP

  I am trying to make a test post to my tumblr blog with a php script (that will eventually be ran as a cron job) I have been browsing google and read many answers on here and the closest I found is explained in this post: Tumblr OAuth using PHP's OAuth class I am using the code in his tutorial here: http://vigrond.com/blog/2012/02/04/oauth-extension-php-and-the-tumblr-api/ Pretty much as is, replacing the blogurl with mine and of course the consumer and secret key. When I run the .php script via my browser however, nothing happens. Any ideas? EDIT: The only error I found in cPanel's error log is this: [Wed Oct 31 00:29:25 2012] [error] [client xx.xx.xx.xx ] PHP Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent (output started at /path on line 14 But I fixed this and the error does not appear anymore.

• What is your company's stance on Developers using Laptops?

  I am a developer and my company is moving towards a "no laptop" policy in fear of them being lost or stolen and source code being compromised. Now I don't work for NASA, the military or anything labeled Top Secret but our code is very important to our business nonetheless (as all source code would be). I'll be honest, I disagree with this policy against laptops and wanted to see what others think. I'd like to know: What is your team/company's stance on laptops Your company's size and/or field (small, medium or large, Fortune 500, etc). Whether you've had to take any extra precautions (signing any additional legal, ensure your hard drive is encrypted, etc). Thanks!

• Using a password to generate two distinct hashes without reducing password security

  Hi there, I'm in the process of designing a web application that will require the storage of GPG keys in an encrypted format in a database. I'm planning on storing the user's password in a bCrypt hash in the database. What I would like to be able to do is to use that bCrypt to authenticate the user then use the combination of the stored bCrypt hash and another hash of the password to encrypt and decrypt the GPG keys. My question is whether I can do this without reducing the security of the password? I was thinking I may be able to use something like an HMAC-SHA256 of a static string using the password and a salt as the secret key. Is there a better way to do this that I haven't thought of? • Connecting Delphi to P/Invoke and .net

  The Delphi complier often uses a *.Dll when a special delivery of code info is required to the complier/editor:- example bourland.dll is the memory manager for the Delphi complier, as I remember. And their are many other *.dll's that Embarcoo keep secret that do other things. Is their anything you know that is public information on this subject .net's un managed code could be declared in a *.pas file as a decelerations but the only way to communicate it out is calling *.dll's like P/Invoke I have ilasm.exe and ildasm.exe and a decomplier into Delphi asm code now but still getting around to learn how to use them all yet. I do not have any reference material/editorials on P/invoke at all as I cannot find anything With that I will have a good concrete plan to make a good result I do not know what *.DLL's are in P/Invoke. Do you have any documentation. I do not have any reference material/editorials on ADO.net. The Dlls that are called and any referqance matrial I could use. Best regards, J Lex Dean.

• How can I get .NET/Silverlight source code symbols to work in VS 2010?

  Back when M$ first released the ability to point visual studio at a symbol server and actually debug into .NET code I got it up and working no problem on VS2008. Now trying to do this with VS2010 or my local copy of VS2008 doesn't seem to work. It successfully downloads the symbols and the stack frames turn from gray to black but there is no source available. Has anyone gotten this working? If so what's the secret? Also is there source available for Silverlight included?

  The standard should solve the following Authentication challenges like- Replay attacks Man in the Middle Plaintext attacks Dictionary attacks Brute force attacks Spoofing by counterfeit servers I have already looked at Amazon Web Services and that is one possibility. More importantly there seems to be two most common approaches: Use apiKey which is encoded in a similar fashion like AWS but is a post parameter to a request Use Http AuthenticationHeader and use a similar signature like AWS. Signature is typically obtained by signing a date stamp with an encrypted shared secret. This signature is therefore passed either as an apiKey or in the Http AuthenticationHeader. I would like to know weigh both the options from the community, who may have used one or more and would also like to explore other options that I am not considering. I would also use HTTPS to secure my services.

If you upload a new version of the site or even change a single file, it kicks out the users that are currently logged in and makes them start over any forms and such. • Show facebook status stream of a dedicated person on a website

  Hi all, I've been stomping at this all day :( I want to display a status feed of both twitter and facebook on my website. For twitter, this is not a problem, as my account is public, I can easily get the feed. Facebook however, is a whole different story! I can't seem to find an easy way to just get my last status updates and display it on my website. The code I currently have, needs authentication of the visitor, and I don't want that! • Packaging "hidden" asset files

  I'm placing the file '.nomedia' into a folder in order to avoid Android's MediaScanner from detecting the media files in the folder. I need to copy this folder (including '.nomedia') from the APK's assets to the SD card (so other apps can make use of these media files, etc.). When I package the APK in Eclipse, it doesn't package the '.nomedia' file. Presumably it's detecting it as a hidden file. Any ideas how to fix this? Is there a secret aapt flag I can use? I'd like to avoid copying the folder and then manually creating a '.nomedia' folder, if possible.

• Can you pass parameters for OnAction in MS Project VBA?

  The way I can define a method to be executed with OnAction in VBA with Microsoft Project is as follows (and works correctly): .OnAction = "Macro ""DoSomething""" ... where DoSomething is the method to execute. I would like to pass a parameter to that method but can't find a way to pass it with this syntax. Does anybody have an idea how to do this? I'm getting the feeling that this is an impossible task, but maybe there's some VBA secret I'm not aware of. Please note that VBA in MS Project seems to have its quirks and is slightly different than VBA for Excel or Access. This seems to be the case for the OnAction property which needs the extra Macro keyword to work correctly. If I'm wrong here please enlighten me.

We'd like to show the site owner some basic data / analytics about Like activity... which URLs are liked, and how many times. I can't figure out if this is even available via the Graph API or FQL. If it is, I can't tell if I need an app_id and secret token for each domain or not. Any suggestions?

  I am running a website on my local machine ("http://localhost/asdf") and trying to get some file:// protocol links to work. In reality I'm trying to open a folder, not a specific file, but I can't get either to work. I've put localhost in my "trusted zone", I've tried every combo of "file" ,":", some number of "/" and then a whole bunch of different paths, but encoded and not encoded. Nothing I do causes anything to open when I click on the link. If I copy the link destination, and paste that in the browser address window, then it works as expected. Anyone know the secret?
