  Folks, I'm having an issue with a bash script which runs a particular command as a different user. The background: Running on a Linux box (CentOS), the script is quite simple, its starting the hudson-ci application. declare -r HOME=/home/hudson declare -r RUNAS=hudson declare -r HOME=/home/hudson declare -r LOG=hudson.log declare -r PID=hudson.pid declare -r BINARY=hudson.war su - ${RUNAS} -c "nohup java -jar ${HOME}/${BINARY} >> ${HOME}/${LOG} 2>&1; echo $! > ${HOME}/${PID}" & This is the bridged version of the script, when run, the script exists with "standard in must be a tty". Any ideas on what I could be doing wrong? I've tried Dr Google and all the advise hasn't helped thus far.

  There's Active directory on windows 2000 advance server, I have a web server on Windows 2008 server Enterprise Edition, the following code works fine in Winsows 2003 server but when I installed Win 2008 server, it gives me the following error, the webserver is not subdomain of the AD server. but they have the same range IP address. A local error has occurred.\r\n"} System.Exception system.DirectoryServices.DirectoryServicesCOMException} I want to Authenticate Via AD from my webserver, I even test the port 389 and it was open(by telnet), I even added port 389 UDP and TCP to firewall of webserver to be sure it is open, even I turned the firewall off but nothing changed. I don't know what's wrong with Windows 2008 server that cannot run my code, I search Internet but I found nothing. any solution would be helpful.   I have a Table with over 3000 entries and searching is very slow. I suspect that I will need to use threading instead, but I do not have much experience with it.

According to amazon: Amazon.com's Statistically Improbable Phrases, or "SIPs", are the most distinctive phrases in the text of books in the Search Inside!™ program. To identify SIPs, our computers scan the text of all books in the Search Inside! program. If they find a phrase that occurs a large number of times in a particular book relative to all Search Inside! books, that phrase is a SIP in that book. SIPs are not necessarily improbable within a particular book, but they are improbable relative to all books in Search Inside!. For example, most SIPs for a book on taxes are tax related. But because we display SIPs in order of their improbability score, the first SIPs will be on tax topics that this book mentions more often than other tax books. For works of fiction, SIPs tend to be distinctive word combinations that often hint at important plot elements. For instance, for Joel's first book, the SIPs are: leaky abstractions, antialiased text, own dog food, bug count, daily builds, bug database, software schedules One interesting complication is that these are phrases of either 2 or 3 words. • unable to properly execute binaries from PHP

  I was building an app on a SUSE box, and had a binary called create_group for instance, which had a suid bit and allowed my PHP app to call exec('create group grpname'); and create a new group (there are others for users, etc). The binary was a small c script that calls setuid(0) and then runs the user creation stuff. This worked perfectly on the SUSE box I recently moved my project to Ubuntu and everything works fine except these binaries. I can run them from the shell and they work okay, but when I get the PHP app to run them it just does nothing. Is there anything Ubuntu would be doing differently that I'm missing?

  Can anyone tell me where to find URLs to put in /etc/apt/sources.list for debian so that I could run apt-get update? I couldn't find the precise answer by searching Google.   I was wondering for a long time if source based Linux distributions, like Gentoo or Funtoo are "destroying" your system faster than binary ones (like Fedora or Debian). I'm talking about CPU and hard drive degradation. Of course, when you're updating your system, it has to compile everything from source, so it takes longer and your CPU is used at hard conditions (it is warmer and more loaded). Such systems compile hundreds of packages weekly, so does it really matter? Does such a system degrade faster than binary based ones?

  Hi all, Surprisingly, I didn't find any answers to my question. I want to make a form on jQuery with two fields. City Code. City Name. and when I enter a city code and go out of the field. I want an autocomplete on the city name. Make sure the binary is sorted at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or depenedent .DLL files. The specified module coudl not be found" Is there a way to install this component? Would appreciate your help

The way it is right now, 64 possible values are lost (from 1000000 to 10111111).   I have a MVC project that has a Linq to SQL dbml class. It is a table called Clients that houses client information. I can easily get the information to display in a View using the code I followed in Nerd Dinner but I have added a stored procedure to the dbml and it's result set is of IQueryable, not IQueryable. I need to convert IQueryable to IQueryable so I can display it in the same View. The reason for the sproc is so I can pass a search string tothe sproc and return the same information as a full list but filtered on the search. I know I can use Linq to filter the whole list but I don't want the whole list so I am using the sproc. Here is the code in my ClientRepository with a comment where I need to convert.   What are the best UI design in terms of usability and esthetics you have even seen? I mean both desktop software (of all OS) and website. My list: Picasa 3 - the way it organizes photos. Find-and-highlight-as-you-type in google Chrome. Dynamic search hints when entering something in the search box in Gmail. I'm not a Mac OS X user, but I have seen in most windows on the top toolbar there are both the icons and texts shown for each function, as apposed to on Windows I have seen many programs (MS Office included) have many small toolbar icons which you can hardly understand what they do until you hover the mouse on it for a while to see the hints (if any). The ability to search an setting in Eclipse IDE. the way to make 3D models in Google Sketchup. the way to label an email in Gmail. What are you list? Well, I couldn't resist to list some annoying UI design I have experienced and remember at this moment. IE on Windows server, when you visit the new website, you have to click many times to get it added to the white list before you can start browsing, IIRC, it's not fixed in IE 8 when that last time I used it on Windows 2008. The default search behavior in the File Explorer on Windows xp, that animated thing... the dialog that shows up when you are trying to save a plain text CSV file in Excel after applied some formatting options which does not compatible with CSV.

• association of more than one model to a listview

  I have 3 Tables in my database. Each table has 3 fields each, excluding the ID field. out of which 2 fields are of type nvarchar. None of the tables are related. My ListView in the application helps the user to search my database, the search being incremental. The search includes the nvarchar fields of the 3 tables ie, 6 fields in total. Eg: PhoneBook: Name, PhoneNo Notes: Title, Content Bookmarks: Name, url I've the models generated for the 3 tables. Now the ListBox should display the Ph.Name, Title and the Bo.Name fields. ie, It should be bound to them. But they are from different models. I also should be able to perform CRUD operation on the item searched. How would i do that? P.S: Separate ViewModels are created for each Model which are used for their respective views for handling those tables individually. But this is an integrated view where the user should be able to search everything. Also please somebody suggest me a better Title for this question:)

• Can GNU sed (for Windows) handle Unicode? If so, is it a code-page/locale issue, or a switch?

  I've been using GNU SED on and off for a couple of years now. It spins me out a bit sometimes, but it does a good job... for single-byte char sets! I now and then notice references to GNU SED being Unicode-aware, but the closest I've seen of this is its "binary" mode.. and binary is not Unicode. Can GSED process a Unicode text file at CodePoint resolution, including and especially \r\n (Windows)... and if it can, does it expect UTF-8, UTF-16, or what? and how does SED detect the encoding?

• Can expire_logs_days be less than 1 day in MySQL?

  So... yesterday I received an "after the fact email" about a campaign that has started for one of the services that I run. Now the DB server is getting hammered, hard, to the tune of about 300mb/min in binary logging for the replicate. As you could imagine, this is chewing up space at a fairly tremendous rate. My normal 7 day expiry of binary logs just isn't cutting it. I've resorted to truncating logs to just the last for 4 hours with(I'm verifying that replication is up to date with mk-heartbeat): PURGE MASTER LOGS BEFORE DATE_SUB( NOW(), INTERVAL 4 HOUR); I'm just running that from cron every few hours to weather the storm, but it made me question the minimum value for expire_logs_days. I haven't come across a value that is less than 1, but that doesn't mean that it isn't possible. http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/server-system-variables.html#sysvar_expire_logs_days gives the type as being numeric, but doesn't indicate if it's expecting integers.

• Sending a file to uCLinux

  I have a board running uClinux, and I need to send a file to it, but I'm not sure how... I have a RS232 port, and Ethernet port with an IP address at my disposal, I can telnet to the board, but uCLinux doesn't have a built in FTP client. What sort of options do I have here for transferring files from my Windows 7 (or OpenSUSE) machine(s) to this board? EDIT I just found I have a TFTP server on it: # tftp BusyBox v0.60.5 (2012.07.09-14:05+0000) multi-call binary Usage: tftp [OPTION]... HOST [PORT] But I can't find any good information on how to use TFTP. And looking around google I'm seeing it's good for loading binary images, so I'm assume anything could be sent, but I'm not sure.

  I have an application in codeigniter and a page needs to perform the following tasks 1 - controller decides which model to use based of the url and parameters 2 - controller loads the model and get the data from it 3 - controller formats the data in a particular format, depending on the items in it 4 - controller loads a common view, which will display the data (formatted data contains simple display fields) now there is a search page, which needs to do a text query against all of the possible text fields in database in all tables. It needs to show each type of data in its own formatted output on a single page as a list. The problem: The search controller can do the search, dynamically load model for each record type, and get the data from model. Problem comes when the data needs to be formatted. It looks that ideally the search controller should load another controller which will provide formatted data ... There is where it gets out of control ... My question is: What am I doing wrong? Is there any better way to do this? How would you do the same to solve the problem?

Don't get me wrong grammers are great for telling the speech recognition exactly what words / phrases to look out for, however what if I want it to recognise something i've not given it a heads up about? Or I want to parse a phrase which is half pre-determined command name and half random words? For example.. Scenario A - I say "Google [Oil Spill]" and I want it to open Google with search results for the term in brackets which could be anything. Scenario B - I say "Locate [Manchester]" and I want it to search for Manchester in Google Maps or anything else non pre-determined I want it to know that 'Google' and 'Locate' are commands and what comes after it are parameters (and could be anything). Question : Does anyone know how to mix the use of pre-determined grammers (words the speech recognition should recognise) and words not in its pre-determined grammer?
