• Is there a way to adjust colors of a specific window?

  Is there a (Windows) program or something that will allow the user to adjust the brightness/contrast/gamma of a specific window rather than the whole screen? As a use-case scenario, imagine having a web-page showing on one half of the screen, and another program taking up the rest of the screen. This other program uses the default Windows colors (e.g., white background), so it may be glaringly bright. Alternately, the web-page may be too dark to see. Adjusting the monitor or video-card settings would affect everything which will be no good. Adjusting the default Windows colors is, at best, inconvenient. Instead, there needs to be a way to set the colors of one of the windows to equalize the whole screen.

• ATI 9550 shows up as laptop in displays after update to 12.04, how do I fix this?

  My guess is this is on here somewhere but I have searched and even tried looking at bunch of other similar video problems. My ATI 9550 shows up as laptop in displays after update to Ubuntu 12.04, how do I fix this? I found the following command on another post sudo lshw -c video. This doesn't look to me like a laptop video would list? I also see this command xrandr, it reports this: xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default Screen 0: minimum 640 x 480, current 1280 x 1024, maximum 1280 x 1024 default connected 1280x1024+0+0 0mm x 0mm 1280x1024 0.0* 1024x768 0.0 800x600 0.0 640x480 0.0 This is what shows in displays for resolutions but only the 1280x1024 works the others produce tearing in the video. Also I should have mentioned 3D mode does not work. I have tried ATI/AMD drivers the new one won't load and older ones won't work. I found out the newer driver no longer supports the 9550.

  I have a working per-user virtual host configuration with Apache, but I would like each user to have access to the logs for his virtual hosts. • How can I redirect HTTPS(S) traffic to anothr gateway?

  I have a network like 192.168.0.0/15 with the default gateway set to 192.168.0.1. Al the workstations of the network use this gateway for all kind of accesses to the Internet. Now I am testing a new Internet connection with another provider and for this I am using a second gateway on the same subnet with 192.168.0.2 as IP address. I want to redirect only HTTP and HTTPS traffic to this second gateway without touching the address of the default gateway set inside every workstation. How can I accomplish this task? What I have to change inside the first's gateway firewall configuration or routes? I tried with a dnat like DNAT loc:192.168.0.1 loc:192.168.0.2 tcp 80 but nothing worked. I use Shorewall for simplicity in configuration but I can understand even theorical answers which I will try to adapt to my case

  I already have a Windows 7 PC connected to my NETGEAR WGR614v10 router and I am able to use internet in that computer. Now I need to connect one of my old computer to the router to share the internet. It's also running Windows 7. I already connected it to the router via a CAT-5 cable but I am not able to use internet. The first computer was set up by a technician. Its IP address is 192.168.1.3, and the default gateway is 192.168.1.1. On the second PC, I changed the IPv4 to 192.168.1.4 and default gateway and preferred DNS to 192.168.1.1, but it's not working. What can I do?

  I want to edit the screen which is displayed when windows 8 (starts) loads (/loading). As for now it has the Toshiba logo, I want my custom logo or the windows default logo. I have found that UEFI has something called "Boot Graphics Resource Table" and that it overides the default logo if there is a image present (source) How can I edit the logo stored in UEFI firmware or Boot Graphics Resource Table? if it's in the "bootres.dll", which does UEFI use? My disk (spread across a few system/usefi/windows/etc partitions) has around twenty bootres.dlls. The bootres.dll is signed by Microsoft, but I don't have to worry because I can sign the file I edit myself with my own certificate.

  Alright, I'm asking two things here. First of all, if i purchase a domain let's say myhomeserver.com, am I able to make the default port go through a different port instead of the default port 80? (that is without having to do myhomeserver.com:5000 for example). Also this should be without blocking other ports (so no stealth forwarding to myhomeserver.com:5000 i think) Secondly, How could I go about hooking a domain to a windows 2008 server? I've seen it on linux but no clue how to do it on windows if it's even possible. I know I'm asking a lot here, just some tips are appereciated. Also, yes I know, using a home server is horrible for security and preformance and whatnot, I understand this already, thanks ^^

• User cannot book a room resource

  Im having a problem with a specific user not being able to book a room resource. No error message is generated at all. The user attempts to add the room as a meeting resource and it simply doesnt register with the resources calendar. I have tested the resource with other accounts and other rooms for this user but it is only this room that is having issues for this user. This Exchange server was migrated from 2007 to 2010. All rooms except for the problem room were created back on Exchange 2007. This new room was created with Exchange 2010. Maybe this clue has something to do with the problem? • Gentoo+urxvt+terminus: How do I change font version?

  In my Debian installation I can type extended ASCII characters such as åäö by default using the terminus font, however in Gentoo I can't get it to work so far. Nothing happens when I hit those keys, like in this thread: Missing glyphs in Terminus font, how to setup a fallback font ? But in this case I know terminus supports those characters in at least some of its versions, since it's works in Debian. So what I want is to find out how to see and choose which of the many different terminus font files is being used. I set the font in the same way on both Debian and Gentoo, using URxvt*font: xft:terminus:size=xx in .Xdefaults. Both systems use en_US.UTF-8 as default locale.

• How to get headphones and speakers working at the same time?

  I have a Gigabyte P55-UD3 motherboard which comes with a Realtek sound card and audio header for the front panel. My headset is permanently connected to the front panel (mic in, headphones in) and I also have speakers connected at the rear of the computer. What I want to achieve is that both the headphones and the speakers work at the same time. On my old PC with Realtek, I was able to do this by clicking "Device advanced settings" in the Realtek HD Audio Manager and then clicking "Make front and rear output devices playback two different audio streams simultaneously" and then doing some reassigning of front/rear settings in the Realtek Audio Manager (can't remember the details). But that doesn't seem to be working now - either the speakers play sounds or the headphones, not both at the same time. To pose the question differently, Windows plays the sounds on the "default device". I'd like to make both headphones and the speakers kind of like the default devices.

• Why does Notepad "randomly" make pasted text a smaller font size?

  Sometimes when I copy and paste text into Notepad, it will paste the text in the default Notepad font and size, however, the latter half of the pasted line will be multiple font sizes smaller. I'm stumped as to why this is happening. I wondered if it was perhaps some type of hidden formatting that was being copied into Notepad, but I believe that Notepad strips the formatting. I've subsequently taken the same text and tried copy and pasting it into URL bars and CMD prompts to strip any potential formatting (even though it was plaintext copied from web), and then re-pasted into Notepad, but it still leaves this phenomenon. Additionally, when resizing the Notepad window, it will change what portion of the line is default sized and downsized, as seen in the screenshot posted below. The three windows are actually the same Notepad window, each with a different resizing and the resulting text resizing.

• Slight stuttering when moving windows in fresh 12.04 install

  Installed Ubuntu 12.04 today and my problem is that when I'm moving the windows around my screen it doesn't feel smooth at all. Usually I can fix this by changing the refresh rate to 60Hz, but this time it doesn't help. My graphics card is a Nvidia GTX 560Ti and I've tried both the 295.40, 295.45 and 304.43 (which I'm currently using) but neither has resolved my problem. I searched around a bit and tried changing the refresh-rate using compizconfig-settings-manager and xrandr. No change using CCSM, but when I tried xrandr I got this reply: konsolkongen@konsolkongen-desktop:~$ xrandr -r 60Rate 60.0 Hz not available for this size - which is nonsense of course.   I was wondering whether is it worthwhile to stick with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS until 14.04 comes or should I be switching to just the latest Ubuntu server version 13.10. My server needs are not enterprise heavy and previous thought to keep with LTS was simply to gain the security updates without having to upgrade the servers every couple months. But as we are moving forward with our software development, I have found that alot of the default version of software with 12.04 is way out of the date forcing me to up date via PPA or from source instead of from default apt-get. ie PHP 5.3 is on 12.04, and I'd like to get it to 5.5. Is it worthwhile to simply move to 13.10 in that situation? With the idea to move to 14.04 when it comes?

  I have just started setting up a VPS. I installed Tomcat to deploy some test applications on. The problem I am having is the following. An 'A' record has been setup for my website's primary domain as vps.mydomain.com. This is resolving fine for SSH and TS3. When it comes to Tomcat, using vps.mydomain.com:8080 does not result in the default landing page. However, 111.222.333.444:8080 does load the default Tomcat page. I read through the manual and within the server.xml added an Alias; this however has not had any effect. Is there any trickery required in order to get Tomcat to serve my applications or is this likely to be some kind of filtering mechanism for requests placed upon me by my hosting provider?
