  • Grouping items in php

    Hello, I have a problem with sorting items in table in PHP. Here is what I want to achieve : Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item How I mean to achieve this, well since I have a for each loop I can insert counter, and say after 5th item is listed write to another column, the thing is I'm not good with tables, I've tried something like : for(...) $counter++; if(($counter%5) == 0){ echo ""; } Not happening ..   • Need some help with onClick and an if/else issue...

    I have a menu with seven items. If you click the first item, div one shows. If you click any other item (2 through 7) div two shows. That's what I'm looking to do. I'm new at all this but am pretty sure it's an if/else function, such that if I click on <a id="1">, show the first div, else show the second div. I suppose I can do a hide/show to get back to the first div. I'm going to keep poking around, but if I can't find it, any help is surely appreciated.

    I'm in the process of coding my own Tumblr Theme. Well I was wondering how should I list the posts? In the basic theme, (the one you get when you sign up) doesn't use list items (<li>). But I saw in another theme that it does use list items. By the way, this is what I mean... <div class="post-text"><div> <div class="post-audio"><div> ... or <ul> <li class="post-text"></li> ... </ul> I'm confused on the way I should go - I want to go to the semantic way of doing it because the theme will be built in HTML5.

    This was added to the page later with jQuery: <input name="pdfRadio" id="pdfRadioNo0" value="0" type="radio"> This code: radio_id = "pdfRadioNo0" ie.radio(:id, radio_id).set() does not set it but returns an error message: Watir::Exception::UnknownObjectException: Unable to locate element, using {:id=>"pdfRadioNo0"} Does watir also find radio butons that were added later?     There is a common feature of modern browsers where a user can select some text and drag it to an input field. Within the same field it causes moving of text, between different fields it does copying. How do I disable that? If there is no portable way, I am mostly interested in firefox. This is an intranet webapp, so I am also interested in modifying the browser/getting a plugin to do this. Maybe some system-level settings (I`m on windows XP)? I need to keep the default select-copy-paste functionality. The background is I have multiple-field data entry forms, and users often drag something by mistake.

    Hi all, I'm loading an external video stream in my embedded player. Since it takes a little while to connect and preload you see a black background for +- 7 secs untill video plays . I would like to know if its possible to have a background image saying 'Stand by loading video' with my logo on it before the video starts to play. Only thing i could find was bgcolor parameter but that's not what I want. I hope someone can help me thanks!!

    I'm writing part of a web page that allows a user to build a table and fill it with information. In the course of building the table, the user will be adding additional columns with headers. I'd like to code it so when the combined width of all the headers causes one of them to wrap that the table columns switch to using vertical text (writing-mode: tb-rl).   • Building CSS3 Simulated Lightsource on Background

    Is there a way to take a DIV that has a background image on it, then apply a CSS3 gradient on it to simulate a lightsource? The reason I ask was because I was thinking of making the BODY tag on a page use a repeating background pattern, apply the CSS3 gradient lightsource on it, and then stick a white DIV on top of that where all the page content would go. For those without CSS3, it would degrade nicely into just a white DIV on top of a repeating background.

Afer going into the source code of the page, I found that those drop-down areas are contained in divs with class fOut. It turns out that this is being done with MooTools.   • Reducing load time, or making the user think the load time is less

    I've been working on a website, and we've managed to reduce the total content for a page load from 13.7MiB's to 2.4, but the page still takes forever to load. It's a joomla site (ick), and it has a lot of redundant DOM elements (2000+ for the home page), and make 60+ HttpRequest's per page load, counting all the css, js, and image requests. Unlike drupal, joomla won't merge them all on the fly, and they have to be kept separate or else the joomla components will go nuts. What can I do to improve load time? Things I've done: Added colors to dom elements that have large images as their background so the color is loaded, then the image Reduced excessively large images to much smaller file sizes Reduced DOM elements to ~2000, from ~5000 Loading CSS at the start of the page, and javascript at the end Not totally possible, joomla injects it's own javascript and css and it does it at the header, always. Minified most javascript Setup caching and gziping on server Uncached size 2.4MB, cached is ~300KB, but even with so many dom elements, the page takes a good bit of time to render. What more can I do to improve the load time?

  • Web pages show empty band across the top

    In Chrome, site http://www.helpinghandspeople.com has a 16px empty band (background colour shows) across the top of the page. It's not supposed to be there, but I can't figure out how to make it go away. In Firefox, the home page shows fine, but login and a few other pages show a 24px band. Viewing source and running inspect element are not helpful. Does anyone have a suggestion where to look? Thanks Gerry
