• Thinking about using Bluej to learn Java

  Platform: Ubuntu 9.10 Disk Brand/model: WD My Book The external hard disk suddenly unmounts after a while. I suspect it's due to it "sleeping" to save power. I don't recall the problem having occurred before the upgrade to Karmic. How can this be fixed?

• After ntfsresize (ntfs resize), what is the exact line to type in for fdisk?

  I was told that after ntfsresize (ntfs resize), the fdisk command needs to be run... But how can it be run? What is the exact line? In a book Knoppix Hacks, it seems to suggest needing some parameter except it is not using any in its example. Does any one know how? Is the line: sudo fdisk /dev/hda all that's needed? • Can I put iTunes in Windows 7 XP Mode and sync an iPhone from within it?

  I don't want iTunes on my laptop due to the stupidly bloated amount of system drivers and services it installs. Win7 offers XP mode which allows you to virtualise USB devices to the VM. Does anyone know if I could install iTunes into XP Mode and sync to an iPhone that way, preferably bringing in an Outlook address book from the host machine as well.

  Normally when I read a book I use a bookmark held horizontally under the current line I'm reading to help me keep my eyes on the right spot. When I read a PDF or other document on my computer I would like to be able to do the same thing, only with a line on the screen controlled by the up and down arrow keys. • Wireless internet became extremely slow on my 27" IMac

  The wireless internet on my Mac became extremely slow recently on my 27" IMac. I don't recall doing anything different other than doing the Apple Software updates which I let it pop up and install automatically. On my Mac Book internet is still fine so I don't think it's the model or the router. I'm not sure where to start digging the cause of this or how to solve it. Looking into the System Preferences on my IMac, it's pretty identical to my MacBook!

What is the easiest of removing the password from a PDF (I know the password, which presumably helps a lot).   Hello guys, I am setting up subversion using this link http://svn.spears.at/ It says that "As the Subversion book warns, make sure to create all repositories on your local disks [FiberChannel is treated as a local disk]. Failing to do so, may result in repository corruption. " This us a big problem for me. Isnt there a way I can set subversion on shared drives. Is there a work around because availability is a major concern with local drives.

  In TCP Connection Termination, when client enters in TIME_WAIT state means the client waits for a period of time equal to double the maximum segment life (MSL) time, to ensure the ACK it sent was received. (I read above from a book computer networking by kurose and also given in following URL http://www.tcpipguide.com/free/t_TCPConnectionTermination-2.htm ) But how it was detected if last ACK(send by client as a response to server FIN) lost?

  I got a AT&T compatible Nexus One that I'm trying to connect to my Mac Book Pro (Snow Leopard) for development. When I do an adb devices, it doesn't appear, and I can't do an adb install either. Until today, I've been using a G1 and I haven't had any issues. I haven't placed a SIM in the phone yet, but I don't think that should matter.
