  I'm able to complete my iphone app using core data internally. But for the first time when I'm running in simulator or on device its crashing with following error: 2010-03-18 10:55:41.785 CrData[1605:4603] Unresolved error Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=513 UserInfo=0x50448d0 "Operation could not be completed. (Cocoa error 513.)", { NSUnderlyingException = Error validating url for store; } When I run the app again in simulator or on device, its running perfectly. I'm not able to identify the exact problem. Can some one guide me on how to proceed further???

  Hi All, I am trying to set up a Approval workflow when item created and item updated event on a list and then update the approval status as workflow complete. Now when I create a new Item the workflow kicks off as expected. When I edit the same item and approve the item new workflow get started as the item get edit. It seems to be workflow falls in loop if I se an Approval workflow on new item created and Item Edit events. I Google for it and I found that Microsoft has come up with hotfix to overcome this issue. I have installed it on my machine but still the problem persist. Is there are any prerequisites needed for this ? or any other service pack or specific version of service pack needs be installed on machine to make this hotfix running.   I work in a shop that is a mix of mostly Java and .NET technologists. When discussing new solutions and architectures we often encounter impedance in trying to compare the various technologies, frameworks, APIs etc. in use between the two camps. It seems that each camp knows little about the other and we end up comparing apples to oranges and forgetting about the bushels. While researching the topic I found this: Java -- .Net rough equivalents It's a nice list but it's not quite exhaustive and is missing the key .NET 3.0 technologies and a few other tidbits. To complete that list: what are the near/rough equivalents (or a combination of technologies) in Java to the following in .NET? WCF WPF Silverlight WF Generics Lambda expressions Linq (not Linq-to-SQL) ...have i missed anything else? Note that I omitted technologies that are already covered in the linked article. But my idea, more than writing an entire application with web interface and so on, is to write a very tiny core that provides the basic functionality in the most efficient way, like a library that other people can use to write a complete application more fitted to their needs. The objective is to make it small, very efficient and fast. Can someone help me with a list of the minimal functionality needed for this kind of application?. • Our embedded linux system won't recognize a USB Device if it is plugged in before powerup. Suggestions?

  We are developing on a small embedded device. This device us a gumstix overo board running OpenEmbedded linux. We have our development almost completely done, and have run into the strangest of bugs that we can't figure out. We have a USB Device (Spectrophotometer) that has a USB2.0 Connection and an external power supply for the light source. Typical behavior is that you plug in the power supply, then the USB connection to a host. When the usb connection is detected by the device, the device boots up and enables the light source and fan. The device is then able to be used by the host system. The problem is that if the device is plugged into the Gumstix before we turn on the Gumstix, the USB Device apparently is not probed by the system (and hence does not turn on). Under a normal situation, when the connection is initialized by plugging in the usb cable, the spectro turns itself on and becomes available to the system (this can be seen via "lsusb" typically). Neither of these things are happening. There is no device detected via "lsusb" and no dmesg errors of any kind that we can see. It is as if the device is not plugged in. The device does show up and work fine if we unplug the USB cable and plug it back in once the system is booted up. It turns on and shows up on the usb bus, and we can access it with our driver. On any other desktop or laptop, it does not matter if the host system is on or off when we plug in the spectrometer. This behavior is what I would consider to be "normal" - that the usb system is probed and initialized at boot time, and the usb devices come online. In other words, our system is fully functional as long as we plug in the usb device after the system is booted up. Unfortunately this isn't possible in our final product - everything comes on at once. Additional Info: 1) We have tried a flash drive attached to the system when the system is turned off. Booting up the system brings the flash drive online, as expected 2) There are no messages regarding the spectro or usb device (using dmesg). "lsusb" only lists the USB hubs / controllers. It is literally as if the device is not present and not plugged in. 3) We have tried a brand new image from gumstix and an older image from last year. Both images have this problem. This problem exists on all 3 gumstix devices we use. Does anyone have any suggestions? From what I can tell it isn't really possible to do a complete "reboot" of the usb system that is a complete emulation of "unplugging" and "replugging" a usb device. I feel like what is happening is that there is no initial probe on the usb bus that would trigger the usb handshaking, but this is somehow specific to the spectro. This seems to be a kernel issue or at least an issue in how the kernel is initializing the usb subsystem. I'm not really sure though. I have tried the gumstix mailing list, but there doesn't seem to be anyone who has seen this issue before. Any advice or suggestions on where to start looking would be fantastic. Thank you! • Sharepoint Foundation 2010 development environment installation problems

  I'm having problems installing development machine for Sharepoint (Foundation) 2010. This is what I did so far on the same machine: Installed a clean Windows 7 x64 with 4GB of RAM without being part of any domain. Just a simple standalone machine. Enabled IIS related features as described here except IIS6 related ones (two of them) Installed SQL Server 2008 R2 Development Edition (DB Engine and Writer being enabled but not SQL Agent) Installed Visual Studio 2010 Premium Started installing Sharepoint Foundation 2010 with first extracting files, changing config to enable Windows 7 installation and then installed it as Server Farm (then Complete) to avoid installing SQL Express. Created a separate SPF_CONFIG local user with Logon on as a service right. Opened SPF Management Shell and run New-SPConfigurationDatabase so I am able to use a non-domain username (SPF_CONFIG that I created in the previous step) But all I get is this: The outcome after this error is: Database Sharepoint2010Config is created User SPF_CONFIG is added to SQL Server and attached to this newly created database as dbowner Checking SQL server security logins this user has following rights: dbcreator securityadmin public

• Which layer should create DataContext?

  I have a problem to decide which layer in my system should create DataContext. I have read a book, saying that if do not pass the same DataContext object for all the database updates, it will sometimes get an exception thrown from the DataContext. That's why i initially create new instance of DataContext in business layer, and pass it into data access layer. So that the same datacontext is used for all the updates. But this lead to one design problem, if i wanna change my DAL to Non-LinqToSQL in future, i need to re-write the code in business layer as well. Please give me some advice on this. Thanks. • AppDomain.CurrentDomain.DomainUnload not be raised in Console app

  I have an assembly that when accessed spins up a single thread to process items placed on a queue. In that assembly I attach a handler to the DomainUnload event: AppDomain.CurrentDomain.DomainUnload += new EventHandler(CurrentDomain_DomainUnload); That handler joins the thread to the main thread so that all items on the queue can complete processing before the application terminates. The problem that I am experiencing is that the DomainUnload event is not getting fired when the console application terminates. Any ideas why this would be? Using .NET 3.5 and C#

• ExtJS 4.1: FocusManager.enable prevents stopping click event

  If FocusManager is enabled, then Menu item href click handlers can not be stopped. This causes the native click handler to complete and navigate the location hash to '#'. If FocusManager is not enabled, it does not change the hash. I tried overriding Ext.menu.Item to call evt.stopEvent if href is null. However, it looks like the EventManager.createListenerWrap() method totally hides the actual browser event and replaces it with an EventObject focus event. What's the correct solution here? Thanks.

  I have this code where I am using jQuery to navigate to the next page, because I want some effects to take place before that happens.   Hi, As a nerd, I think it would be nice to have a TeX editor on the iPad. But TeX is a Turing-complete language, and it is arguably a general-purpose compiler/interpreter. Does that make it unacceptable to the App Store? Furthermore, if somebody ports TeX compiler to javascript and runs inside WebKit, does it make acceptable to the App Store?   I'm using Quartz to schedule some jobs but I have a few scenarios that I'm not sure how to resolve. 1) Lets say I have a job that is scheduled to run every 5 minutes. Generally that works well but periodically the job takes more than 5 minutes and I don't really want multiple instances of the job running simultaneously. 2) I have a job that can take between 1 and 60 minutes to complete. I want it to run continuously but pause for 10 minutes between runs, regardless of how long it took previously. I like using Quartz for this rather than some sort of loop because if a job crashes Quartz will still spin up a new one based on the schedule. I am using Quartz in Java right now.

Com4j generates Java interfaces from COM definitions "often found in .ocx, .dll, .exe, and/or .tlb files" . It was easy for me to locate the .ocx file of my target COM object, but I have no clue regarding the standard interface iStream. Microsoft's documentation mentions OLE32.DLL ( c:\Windows\Windows32\Ole32.dll ?) , but neither the com4j generator nor oleviewer succeed in opening this file. Any hints?

• Node.js vs PHP processing speed

  I've been looking into node.js recently and wanted to see a true comparison of processing speed for PHP vs Node.js. In most of the comparisons I had seen, Node trounced Apache/PHP set ups handily. However all of the tests were small 'hello worlds' that would not accurately reflect any webpage's markup. So I decided to create a basic HTML page with 10,000 hello world paragraph elements. In these tests Node with Cluster was beaten to a pulp by PHP on Nginx utilizing PHP-FPM. So I'm curious if I am misusing Node somehow or if Node is really just this bad at processing power. Note that my results were equivalent outputting "Hello world\n" with text/plain as the HTML, but I only included the HTML as it's closer to the use case I was investigating. I certainly think Node has a real niche that it could fit well, however with these test results (which I really hope I made a mistake with - as I like the idea of Node) lead me to believe that it is a horrible choice for even a modest processing load when compared to PHP (let alone JVM or various other fast solutions). As a final note, I also tried running an Apache Bench test against node with $ ab -n 20 -c 20 http://speedtest.dev/ and consistently received a total test time of greater than 0.900 seconds.

• JQuery Datatable Question: Centering column data after data insertion

  I have a data table that is initially empty and is populated after a particular Javascript call. After the data is inserted into the table, I'd like to center all of the data in one of the columns. I tried specifying this at the initialization step in this way: dTable = $('#dt').datatable({ 'aoColumns': [ null, null, { "sClass" : "center" }] }); The data in the third column was not centered after the insertions were complete. I tried modifying aoColumns after the insertions and redrawing the table as well: dTable.fnSettings().aoColumns[2].sClass = "center"; dTable.fnDraw(); This did not work either. So my question is simply how should I go about telling the data table to center the data in the third column? Thanks in advance for your suggestions. Chris

• Javascript callback for multiple ajax calls

  My lack of javascript knowledge is getting me in trouble again. I think this should be a fairly easy problem to fix but I cant figure it out. Situation: I want to make three ajax calls in a click event. Each ajax call does a distinct operation and returns back data that is needed for a final callback.
