  • How to retrieve the size of a database in restoring mode

    With pure SQL - how to do it? I doubt it is possible, since even the SQL Management Studio fails to show the size of such a database in the UI. Already tried: exec sp_helpdb 'DbInRecMode' ...won't show anything; exec sys.sp_helpfile 'DbInRecMode' ... something like file not found (Msg 15325) Main pitfall seems to be the issue, that select * from DbInRecMode.dbo.sysfiles won't work when the database is in restoring mode. Any ideas?

  • Change the sorting of "From:" mail accounts in Apple Mail

    I have 11 email accounts (work etc). When I'm creating a new message, the "from:" field is a dropdown list of my email accounts I wish to send the email from. They are in the order of how I setup my accounts initially, frustrating in hindsight, having not known how I create my accounts (what order) would be a convenience issue down the road. So, does anyone know how to modify the sort order of mail accounts?

  • Dragging a window makes it become choppy

    On my old computer when you drag a window around, it seems to be cut up (like what you'd see in remote desktop on a slow connection) and its becoming really annoying. A few weeks when I was transferring data from it to my new laptop and it was working fine then however when I started it a few minutes ago this issue occurred. I tried restarting several time with no luck. OS: Windows XP Professional Graphics Card: nVidia 9600GT

  • Tortoise won't display Status Icons

    I updated my Tortoise SVN client today to TortoiseSVN 1.6.8, Build 19260 - 32 Bit , 2010/04/16 20:20:11 Subversion 1.6.11, apr 1.3.8 apr-utils 1.3.9 neon 0.29.3 OpenSSL 0.9.8k 25 Mar 2009 zlib 1.2.3 However, I now don't see any Status icons for any folders/files. The client still works as expected but it is a bit frustrating to not see a visual status. Has anyone else had this issue?

  • Issues with proftpd on ubuntu server

    I'm in the process of setting up a new server running Ubuntu 9.10 and I need to be able to access my web directory via FTP. I've installed proftpd, opened up port 21 and made sure it was up and running. Everything seems good, but when I try to connect via FTP from my personal computer to the server it times out each time. I've been stuck on this issue for a while now and I would appreciate any help. Any ideas???

    As stated in the question title: one of our end users has to make use of a web application which requires her to add the website to trusted sites. By default, this is disabled, but after my colleague added the sites to the GPO pushing these in such form: *.domain.com it shows up as domain.com in her trusted sites. Has anyone encountered or even fixed this issue?

My computer's specs: ASUS p8z77-v motherboard Intel Core-i7 3770k Intel HD Graphics 4000 integrated VGA Windows 8 Pro x64 I have tried to reinstall VGA drivers, tried to install an older driver from intel.com or asus.com, but no success with resolving the issue. Currently I am using driver version 2867. How can I fix this?

  • Solver Add-in not loading correctly

    When I try to open solver from inside excel 2010, I get the error message: "Solver: An unexpected internal error occurred, or available memory was exhausted." The only way I have been able to get Solver to work is by going to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\Library\SOLVER\", and just opening the file called "SOLVER.xlam". If I open excel through that file, the program works fine. Is there a way to solve this issue?

  • How Do I Restrict Repository Access via WebSVN?

    I have multiple subversion repositories which are served up through Apache 2.2 and WebDAV. They are all located in a central place, and I used this debian-administration.org article as the basis (I dropped the use of the database authentication for a simple htpasswd file though). Since then, I have also started using WebSVN. My issue is that not all users on the system should be able to access the different repositories, and the default setup of WebSVN is to allow anyone who can authenticate. According to the WebSVN documentation, the best way around this is to use subversion's path access system, so I looked to create this, using the AuthzSVNAccessFile directive. When I do this though, I keep getting "403 Forbidden" messages. My files look like the following: I have default policy settings in a file: <Location /svn/> DAV svn SVNParentPath /var/lib/svn/repository Order deny,allow Deny from all </Location> Each repository gets a policy file like below: <Location /svn/sysadmin/> Include /var/lib/svn/conf/default_auth.conf AuthName "Repository for sysadmin" require user joebloggs jimsmith mickmurphy </Location> The default_auth.conf file contains this: SVNParentPath /var/lib/svn/repository AuthType basic AuthUserFile /var/lib/svn/conf/.dav_svn.passwd AuthzSVNAccessFile /var/lib/svn/conf/svnaccess.conf I am not fully sure why I need the second SVNParentPath in default_auth.conf, but I just added that today as I was getting error messages as a result of adding the AuthzSVNAccessFile directive. With a totally permissive access file [/] joebloggs = rw the system worked fine (and was essentially unchanged), but as I soon as I start trying to add any kind of restrictions such as [sysadmin:/] joebloggs = rw instead, I get the 'Permission denied' errors again. The log file entries are: [Thu May 28 10:40:17 2009] [error] [client 89.100.219.180] Access denied: 'joebloggs' GET websvn:/ [Thu May 28 10:40:20 2009] [error] [client 89.100.219.180] Access denied: 'joebloggs' GET svn:/sysadmin What do I need to do to get this to work? Have configured apache wrong, or is my understanding of the svnaccess.conf file incorrect? If I am going about this the wrong way, I have no particular attachment to my overall approach, so feel free to offer alternatives as well. UPDATE (20090528-1600): I attempted to implement this answer, but I still cannot get it to work properly. I know most of the configuration is correct, as I have added [/] joebloggs = rw at the start and 'joebloggs' then has all the correct access. When I try to go repository-specific though, doing something like [/] joebloggs = rw [sysadmin:/] mickmurphy = rw then I got a permission denied error for mickmurphy (joebloggs still works), with an error similar to what I already had previously [Thu May 28 10:40:20 2009] [error] [client 89.100.219.180] Access denied: 'mickmurphy' GET svn:/sysadmin Also, I forgot to explain previously that all my repositories are underneath /var/lib/svn/repository UPDATE (20090529-1245): Still no luck getting this to work, but all the signs seem to be pointing to the issue being with path-access control in subversion not working properly.   • Windows 8.1 will not sleep after wake up

    I have problem with sleep/screen saver on my new Windows 8.1 machine. It will go to to sleep or start screen saver after start (or restart). But if it goes to sleep (manually or automatically) and I wake it up, it wont start sleep or start screen saver again automatically. I updated chipset and graphic cards drivers.     My service for World Wide Web Publishing Service started successfully but whenever I browse to http://localhost/ I always get 502 Unknown host. I've updated drivers and firmware levels without any change. Any other obvious things I should try before engaging my network team and the vendors.

  • Extended desktop problem

    I'm a little embarrassed I can't seem to fix this issue: Running a Dell D630 laptop with a VGA to an external monitor. Every time the computer goes to sleep the Dualview setting reverts to single display. I click the Nvidia dualview setting again but the external monitor remains black screen. The only way I can get it working again is to restart :(. What's going on here?? thanks yall //sw

  • Can anybody recommend a Windows system monitoring tool similar to iPulse for the Mac?

    Occasionally, my PC grinds to a halt, and by the time I get any monitoring tools open (don't forget my PC is slow at this point), performance has picked up a bit. A friend recently told me he uses iPulse, which is awesome since it's always running, and you can just glance at it when there's an issue to see what is happening. Unfortunately it's only for the Mac. Does anybody know of a good Windows system monitoring tool similar to iPulse for the Mac?

  • Windows 2008 IIS 7.0 HTTP to HTTPS Redirect -- Versus IIS 6.0 Mechanism

    This topic, creating a mechanism for redirection from HTTP to HTTPS on a Windows 2008 server running IIS 7.0 is a much written-about topic on the Internet. How this is done is really not so much my issue. My issue is more of explaining why this can't be done with the standard HTTP Redirect module that ships with Windows 2008 IIS 7.0. Instead, there are other methods needed that are more arduous. First, the IIS 6.0 method requires no externally available modules nor does it require any additional modifications to the web.config or any type of other development effort. It's outlined here: http://blogs.microsoft.co.il/blogs/dorr/archive/2009/01/13/how-to-force-redirection-from-http-to-https-on-iis-6-0.aspx And, you can see the basic steps are to run the snap-in, get the properties on the site, and do some modifications. Presto, you have the HTTP -- HTTP redirect setup. Now, on the IIS 7.0 platform, it doesn't seem this simple. An initial search found the following site: http://www.sslshopper.com/iis7-redirect-http-to-https.html Which has two separate approcates: 1. Involves installing a separately available Microsoft module -- URL Rewrite Module, and then adding XML to the web.config. 2. Custom Error Page. ...there might be other methods, but these are the basic ones and the first is listed as the primary method. But wait...There exists on the IIS 7.0 an HTTP Redirect Module. So...why can't I use the HTTP Redirect Module to do this very thing? This is really my big question. I need to know this because my management is going to insist I use the HTTP Redirect Module and set up the HTTP to HTTPS redirect in a similar fashion to how we do in IIS 6.0. Can someone please explain to me, in clean, simple, easy to understand, terms that both I and my management can understand as to why I need to go get the URL Rewrite Module and install that on the server and make the web.config changes suggested by the article instead of simply using the HTTP Redirect module that's already installed on the site?   • Only a Macs can connect to WIFI with WPA-Personal security on.

    I have an odd issue with a Netgear WIFI router, 4 computers, 2 pc laptops with XP and 7 installed, one macbook pro and one older mac mini. With security off everything can connect to the wifi. With WPA-Security on only the macs can connect to the wifi. I've reset the Netgear router, done everything again from scratch, no deal. The PCs just can't connect.

It stays in reconnecting status when san is available. I have to manually disconnect and connect to get it working. How can i make it automatically connect when san is available.

    I want to know, before going forward, what I can expected in lost of performance (or not) of creating Windows spanned volumes from LUN delivered by a SAN ? I don't know which kind of SAN is (we don't administer it), but they give us 10 300 Gb LUN to our Windows 2k8 R2 (Vmware) and we need larger volume so we think to spanned some disk but we are aware of the performance issue. When I turn on the screen and hit start windows normal or go to safe mode I get a flash of the win xp logo and then it goes to this error page.
