• Out of Memory on Update or Delete of Service Reference

  I have a Service Reference for a WCF project that has just over a hundred endpoints in my ServiceHost web.config. Every time I attempt to update or delete the Service Reference, it fails with an out of memory exception. I am running Vista Ultimate SP2 64-bit with 8GB RAM. I can work around it by going outside the project and deleting the Service References folder, then coming back in and re-adding the Reference. Is this the only workaround that you know of? Thanks!

  I recently posted a question which was answered by Bryan Watts, regarding generic repository for nHibernate. I'm trying to design my data access to allow various facets - from ASP.net, WCF and Windows Forms / Windows services. I'm a bit confused re: session management etc.. How would I handle this? I've been checking out code such as: http://membranecms.googlecode.com/svn/ and questions such as: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1207833/nhibernate-linq-session-management But what do i do if i don't just do things in a web based environment..? Do i need to create different repositories for each client? Or do i pass in the ISession into the (for example) UserRepository constructor..? ... as a side note I'm using nHibernate.Linq Also using fluent nHibernate to config my mapping

  I have a Visual C++ application that communicates with an ASP.NET web service via ATL Soap. The client application uses an sproxy-generated proxy class for the communication. Looking at the generated proxy class, I noticed that the url for the web service is hard-coded in numerous places. It would be preferable for the url to be configurable at run-time (e.g. stored in a config file). Could anyone recommend a method for doing this? It doesn't look like the class generated by sproxy is amenable to hand-editing.

  see also "WCF push to client through firewall" I need to have a WCF client that connect to a WCF server, then when some of the data changes on the server the clients need to update its display. As there is likely to be a firewall between the clients and the server. All communications must be over HTTP The server can not make an (physical) outgoing call to the client. As I am writing both the client and the server I do not need to limit the solution to only using soap etc. I am looking for built in surport for "long polling" / "Comet" etc Thanks for the most informative answer from Drew Marsh on how to implement long polling in WCF. However I thought the main “selling point” of WCF was that you could do this sort of thing just by configuring the channels to be used in the config file. E.g I want a channel that logically two way but physically incoming only.

  I am running rails 2.2.3 with mysql as database scheme & thinking sphinx installed as plugin. I am having two problems : 1) I am unable to find file confing/sphinx.yml. I just have a config/development.sphinx.conf 2) I have specified min_infix_len & enable_start property from define_index method of model. I also have checked development.sphinx.conf file & these properties are correctly set there. But I am not getting any infix search results. Please help.

• CakePHP Accessing Dynamically Created Tables?

  As part of a web application users can upload files of data, which generates a new table in a dedicated MySQL database to store the data in. They can then manipulate this data in various ways. The next version of this app is being written in CakePHP, and at the moment I can't figure out how to dynamically assign these tables at runtime. I have the different database config's set up and can create the tables on data upload just fine, but once this is completed I cannot access the new table from the controller as part of the record CRUD actions for the data manipulate. I hoped that it would be along the lines of function controllerAction(){ $this->uses[] = 'newTable'; $data = $this->newTable->find('all'); //use data } But it returns the error Undefined property: ReportsController::$newTable Fatal error: Call to a member function find() on a non-object in /app/controllers/reports_controller.php on line 60 Can anyone help.

• How to draw RTL text (Arabic) onto a Bitmap and have it ordered properly?

  I'm trying to draw Arabic text onto a Bitmap for display: Bitmap img = Bitmap.createBitmap( (int) f+100, 300, Config.RGB_565); Canvas c = new Canvas(); c.setBitmap( img ); mFace = Typeface.createFromAsset(getAssets(),"DejaVuSansCondensed.ttf"); mPaint.setTypeface(mFace); content = "????"; content = ArabicUtilities.reshape( content ); System.out.println("Drawing text: " + content); c.drawText(content, 30, 30, mPaint); The ArabicUtilities class is a tool to reshape the unicode text so the letters are connected. see: http://github.com/agawish/Better-Arabic-Reshaper/ However, the bitmap that is generated looks like this: When it should look like ???? I believe the issue is because, unlike a TextView, the Bitmap class is not BiDi aware, so it draws the letters from left to write. Try as I might, I can't figure out how to draw the text in the correct order.

  I am trying to run a jar with the log4j.xml file on the file system outside the jar like so: java -jar MyJarName.jar -cp=/opt/companyName/pathToJar/ log4j.configuration=log4j.xml argToJar1 argToJar2 I have also tried: java -jar MyJarName.jar -cp=/opt/companyName/pathToJar/ log4j.configuration=/opt/companyName/pathToJar/log4j.xml argToJar1 argToJar2 The log4j.xml is file is in the same directory as the jar (/opt/companyName/pathToJar/), yet I still get the standard warning message: log4j:WARN No appenders could be found for logger (org.apache.axis.i18n.ProjectResourceBundle). log4j:WARN Please initialize the log4j system properly. Is it possible to have the config file outside the jar, or do I have to package it with the jar? TIA

  I am currently playing with DotNetOpenAuth to make an ASP.NET (C#) website use OpenID instead of the normal login-password routine for user and session handling. Up till now, I have added the DotNetOpenAuth.dll into my project and tried a test login page with the following: <rp:OpenIdLogin ID="OpenIdLogin1" runat="server" /> When I run the page, I enter a valid myopenid url and the website redirects to the myopenid page, where I enter my password, and upon success, it returns back to my default.aspx, due to the following in my web.config: <authentication mode="Forms"> <forms defaultUrl="/Default.aspx" loginUrl="~/Login.aspx"/> </authentication> Now that the user is "logged in", how can handle my session? At the moment, I don't know how I can, for example, check if the session is still alive or how to terminate the session. My basic question is, how can I manage the session once the user is authenticated with OpenID ?

  Hi there, I'm new to Android and Eclipse. I'm Trying to run the SDK Samples on the Emulator in Eclipse 3.5 Most of the time the AVD Manager hangs when I try to create a new AVD. When I manage to create an AVD and try to start the emulator I get this: emulator: ERROR: no search paths found in this AVD's configuration weird, the AVD's config.ini file is malformed. Try re-creating it. I'm running the latest version of the SDK on Win7 32 bit. Any Ideas?

However, if UseEmbeddedServer setting be removed then my application will be running without any problems.   Hello, This is my messages_en_US.properties file in WEB-INF/classes folder :- Login=Login And then i created messages_fr_FR.properties :- Login=frenchLogin Then in my JSF page i wrote this :- <f:loadBundle basename="messages" var="msg"/> <h:commandButton id="btnLogin" value="#{msg.Login}" actionListener="#{IndexBean.doLogin}"/> I can correctly see the Login text by default. But when i go in firefox and change my default language to fr-fr, my text still remains the same i.e i can't see frenchLogin. I don't have anything in my faces-config.xml What am i doing wrong?   Generally, I want my functional tests to not perform action caching. Rails seems to be on my side, defaulting to config.action_controller.perform_caching = false in environment/test.rb. This leads to normal functional tests not testing the caching. So how do I test caching in Rails 3. The solutions proposed in this thread seem rather hacky or taylored towards Rails 2: How to enable page caching in a functional test in rails? I want to do something like: test "caching of index method" do with_caching do get :index assert_template 'index' get :index assert_template '' end end Maybe there is also a better way of testing that the cache was hit?

  I’ve run into what appears to be an NHibernate config problem. Basically, I ran up a simple proof of concept persistence integration test using NUnit, the test simply querys an Oracle database and successfully returns the last record received by the underlying table. However, when the assemblies are taken out of the NUnit test environment and deployed as they would be for an actual application build, my call for an NHibernate session results in a ‘TypeInitializationException’ whilst executing the code line: sessionFactory = New Configuration().Configure().BuildSessionFactory() The application is a vb.net console app running against an Oracle 9.2 database, using a ‘coding framework’ published on the web by Bill McCafferty entitled 'NHibernate Best Practices with ASP.NET' (pre S#harp Architecture). • Browser for cross-site-script testing (for testing Mozilla Add-On)

  I am working on a Firefox extension that will involve ajax calls to domains that would normally fail due to the same-origin policy set by Firefox (and most modern browsers). I was wondering if there is a way to either turn off the same-origin restriction (in about:config, perhaps) or if there was a standard lite-browser that developers turn to for this. I really would like to avoid using any blackhat tools, if possible. Not because I'm against them, I just don't want to add another learning curve to the process. I can use curl in PHP to confirm that the requests work, but I want to get started on writing the js that the addon will actually use, so I need a client that will execute js. I also tried spidermonkey, but since I'm doing the ajax with jquery, it threw a fit at all of the browser-based default variables. So, short version: is there a reliable browser/client for cross site scripting that isn't primarily a hacker app? Or can I just turn off same-domain policy in Firefox?

  I'm attempting to provide a confirmation link in my user welcome email and I'm getting the following Rails error: Need controller and action! It makes a fuss about this line: <p>Please take a moment to activate your account by going to: <%= link_to confirm_user_url(:id => @user.confirmation_code) %>.</p> In my development.rb environment, I have the following line: config.action_mailer.default_url_options = { :host => "localhost", :port => 3000 } There's no problem with the @user variable. I've tested the email with things like @user.username and @user.confirmation_code. I'm only getting trouble with url_for and named routes like confirm_user_url. When I check my routes with rake routes, confirm_user shows up, so it's not an issue with the named route not existing. I can't seem to figure it out. What gives?

• Service Call very slow if going through HttpHandler

  I have a WCF client pointing to a WebSphere service. All is good in normal situation except when my calls to the service originate from an HttpHandler - in this case the calls are extremely slow (it takes up to 10 times longer). If I send the exact same envelopes through Soap-UI or without an HttpHandler it's all good. If the envelope is the same the only thing left is the HttpHeader. Would the fact that I am going through an HttpHandler cause changes HttpHeaders compared to normal scenarios? What should I be looking for and is there some config setting that might do the trick? Any help appreciated!

  Hi Folks, I downloaded one of the rails app from server and tried running it.I faced an error on migration D:\Radiant\trunkrake db:migrate (in D:/Radiant/trunk) rake aborted! 126: The specified module could not be found. - D:/Radiant/trunk/config/../ven dor/plugins/libxml-ruby/lib/libxml_ruby.so I got the windows version of libxml_ruby.so and tried again. i got the error saying " libxml2.dll " not found.Then i checked the file libxml.rb ..it says the below lines . If running on Windows, then add the current directory to the PATH for the current process so it can find the pre-built libxml2 and iconv2 shared libraries (dlls).   My bank's website has 2 login pages for online banking. On the first page, I enter my username. If I don't enter a valid username, I get an error message, and do not get to the 2nd page. The 2nd page displays a picture based on my user name, and has me enter my password. If I manually type a URL to a page inside the site after entering my username but before entering my password, I am redirected back to the first login page. Is there a good way to implement this in ASP.NET with Forms Authentication? I only get 1 loginUrl in my web.config. I am fairly certain my bank uses Java.

• Deploying a Rails App to Multiple Servers using Capistrano - Best Practices

  I have a rails application that I need to deploy to 3 servers - machine1.com, machine2.com and machine3.com. I want to be able to deploy it to all machines at once and each machine individually. Can someone help me out with a skeleton Capistrano config file / recipe? Should it all be in deploy.rb or should I break it out in machine1.rb, etc? I thought I was on the right track getting Capistrano to take in command line arguments, but it choked when I tried set the roles within the namespaces. I'd pass in 'hosts=1,2,3' as an argument and set the role:app/web/db to "machine#{host}.com" after splitting on the command and going into an each do |host| {}... Anyway, other than creating 4 different deploy.rb files and renaming it before running cap:deploy each time, I'm stumped. I'd like to be able to do the following: cap deploy:machine1:latest_version_from_svn cap deploy:all_machines:latest:version_from_svn Just don't know if it should all be in deploy.rb split up with namespaces or if it should be broken into multiple deploy*.rb files.

  We have some legacy ASP.NET code that detects if a request is secure, and redirects to the https version of the page if required. This code uses Request.ServerVariables["SERVER_PORT_SECURE"] to detect if SSL is needed. Our operations team has suggested doing proxy SSL at the load balancer (F5 Big-IP) instead of on the web servers (assume for the purposes of this question that this is a requirement). The consequence would be that all requests appear as HTTP to the web server. My question: how can we let the web servers known that the incoming connection was secure before it hit the load balancer? Can we continue to use Request.ServerVariables["SERVER_PORT_SECURE"]? Do you know of a load balancer config that will send headers so that no application code changes are needed?
