It works fine in IE7 Comp mode, Chrome and Firefox. It works once or twice on IE8 but locks the browser up after that. One interesting note is the host operating system is Windows 2008 R2. Any ideas?

  • Escaping single quote in PHP when inserting into MySQL

    I have a perplexing issue that I can't seem to comprehend... I'm hoping someone here might be able to point me in the right direction... I have two SQL statements: - the first enters information from a form into the database. - the second takes data from the database entered above, sends an email and then logs the details of the transaction The problem is that it a appears that a single quote is triggering a MySQL error on the second entry only!!! The first instance works without issue but the second instance triggers the mysql_error(). Does the data from a form get handled differently from the data captured in a form?     Hi, I have not very big db. I am using auto increment primary keys and in my case there is no problem with that. GUID is not necessary. I have a table containing this fields: from_destination to_testination shipper quantity Where the fields 1,2,3 needs to be unique. Also I have second table that for the fields 1,2,3 stores bought quantities per day One to many. from_destination to_destination shipper date reserved_quantity case 1 Is it better to make fields 1,2,3 as primary complex key in the first table and the same fields in the second table to be foreign key First table from_destination | to_destination | primary shipper | quaitity Second table second_id - autoincrement primary from_destination | to_destination | foreign key shipper | date reserved_quantity Case 2 or just to add auto increment filed in the first table and make fields 1,2,3 unique. In the second table there will be one ingeger foreign key pointing to the first table, and one auto increment key for the table. First table first_id - autoincrement primary from_destination | to_destination | unique shipper | quaitity Second table second_id - autoincrement primary first_id - forein date reserved_quantity If so why we need complex keys, when we can have one field auto increment or GUID and all other fields that are candidates for complex key to be unique.     Hello I am attempting to schedule a task (to open an .exe at a specific time) using C++ win32. But at one specific point I am getting an error, I have searched & searched to try & find the definition of this error but I cannot find it? Do you know what this error means: Hexadecimal: 80004003 Decimal: 2147500035 I wont post the whole function because its rather long (unless you may need it to determine the error context?).   • Java: Is clone() really ever used? What about defensive copying in getters/setters?

    Do people practically ever use defensive getters/setters? To me, 99% of the time you intend for the object you set in another object to be a copy of the same object reference, and you intend for changes you make to it to also be made in the object it was set in. If you setDate(Date dt) and modify dt later, who cares? Unless I want some basic immutable data bean that just has primitives and maybe something simple like a Date, I never use it. As far as clone, there are issues as to how deep or shallow the copy is, so it seems kind of "dangerous" to know what is going to come out when you clone an Object. I think I have only used clone() once or twice, and that was to copy the current state of the object because another thread (ie another HTTP request accessing the same object in Session) could be modifying it. Edit - A comment I made below is more the question: But then again, you DID change the Date, so it's kind of your own fault, hence whole discussion of term "defensive". If it is all application code under your own control among a small to medium group of developers, will just documenting your classes suffice as an alternative to making object copies? Or is this not necessary, since you should always assume something ISN'T copied when calling a setter/getter?

  • PHP strtotime() looks like it is expecting a Euro format

    I've been using PHP's strtotime() method to accept a date field on a form. I love how powerful it is, in how it will accept "Tomorrow", "Next Thursday", or (supposedly) any date representation and convert it to the Unix timestamp. It's been working great -- until yesterday. Someone entered "2-4-10" and instead of logging Feb 4th, 2010, it logged April 10, 2002! So it expected Y-M-D instead of M-D-Y. I thought maybe the problem was just using a 2-digit year, so we tried again with "2-4-2010". That logged April 2nd, 2010! At that point I just don't understand what strtotime() is doing. PHP.net says it expects a US English date format. Why then would it assume D-M-Y? Is there a way around this? Or do I have to stop using strtotime()? Note: I just now did a test. When you use slashes instead of hyphen/dashes, it works fine, even with 2/4/10. Why on earth does that matter? And if that's all it is, should I just run str_replace("-", "/", $input) on the form input before passing it to strtotime()?

    Having problems with out of scope for NSDate in an iphone app. I have an interface defined like this: @interface MyObject : NSoObject { NSMutableArray *array; BOOL checkThis; NSDate *nextDue; } Now in the implementation I have this: -(id) init { if( (self=[super init]) ) { checkThis = NO; array = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; nextDue = [[NSDate date] retain]; NSDate *testDate = [NSDate date]; } return self; } Now, if I trace through the init, before I actually assign the variables checkThis shows as boolean. array shows as pointer 0x0 because it hasn't ben assigned. But the nextDue is showing as 'out of scope'. I don't understand why this is out of scope but the other variables aren't. If I trace through the code until after the variables are assigned, array now shows as being correctly assigned but nextDue is still out of scope. Interestingly, the testDate variable is assigned just fine and the debugger shows this as a valid date. Further interesting point is if I move the mouse over the testDate variable while I am debugging, it shows as an 'NSDate *' type which I would expect since that's its definition. Yet the nextDue, which to me is defined the same way is showing as a '_NSCFDate *'. Any googling I did on the subject said that the retain is the problem, but its actually out of scope before I even try to assign the variable. However, in another class, the same definition for NSDate work ok. It shows as nil before a value is assigned to it. Arghhh

It works, but I am swimming in the amount of date/time possibilities in perl and want to get your opinion on whether there is a better way. Initially, I had a typo in the function 'foo', where I was passing the variable 'line' to writeResults instead of 'text'. 'line' is not defined in the function foo, it's defined in the main block, so I should have seen an error, but instead, it worked fine, except that the data was appended to the file multiple times, instead of being written just once, which is the required behavior, which I got when I fixed the typo. My question is, 1) Why didn't I get an error? 2) Why was the writeResults function being called multiple times?

    I am trying to launch a background thread to retrieve XML data from a web service. I developed it synchronously - without threads, so I know that part works. Now I am ready to have a non-blocking service by spawning a thread to wait for the response and parse. I created an NSAutoreleasePool inside the thread and release it at the end of the parsing. The code to spawn and the thread are as follows: Spawn from main-loop code: . . [NSThread detachNewThreadSelector:@selector(spawnRequestThread:) toTarget:self withObject:url]; . . Thread (inside 'self'): -(void) spawnRequestThread: (NSURL*) url { NSAutoreleasePool * pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; parser = [[NSXMLParser alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:url]; [self parseContentsOfResponse]; [parser release]; [pool release]; } The method parseContentsOfResponse fills an NSMutableDictionary with the parsed document contents. I would like to avoid moving the data around a lot and allocate it back in the main-loop that spawned the thread rather than making a copy. First, is that possible, and if not, can I simply pass in an allocated pointer from the main thread and allocate with 'dictionaryWithDictionary' method? That just seems so inefficient. Are there perferred designs?

  • Control pdb file output from build defintion file

    Hello, I am trying to generate a release build with no pdb files generated. I have seen numerous posts that suggest right-clicking on the project, selecting Properties, going to the Build tab and then to the Advanced... butoon and changing Debug Info to none. This works and all, but I need to do this for a build of ~50 solutions which contain ~25 projects each! Other posts mention editing the appropriate .csproj file, but again, with so many projects, this would take a long time. Is there any way to achieve this via the TFSBuild.proj file? I have tried adding the following to the TFSBuild.proj file, with no luck. <PropertyGroup> <Configuration>Release</Configuration> <Platform>AnyCPU</Platform> </PropertyGroup> <PropertyGroup> <DebugSymbols>false</DebugSymbols> <DebugType>none</DebugType> <Optimize>true</Optimize> </PropertyGroup> The following line prints out Release|AnyCPU, none, and false, but I still see .pdb file in the $(OutputDir) folder. <Message Text="$Configuration|Platform): $(Configuration)|$(Platform)" /> <Message Text="DebugType is: $(DebugType)"/> <Message Text="DebugSymbols is: $(DebugSymbols)"/> Thanks in advance, Urvi

  • Boost causes an invalid block while overloading new/delete operators

    Hi, I have a problem which appears to a be an invalid memory block that happens during a Boost call to Boost:runtime:cla::parser::~parser. When that global delete is called on that object, C++ asserts on the memory block as an invalid: dbgdel.cpp(52): /* verify block type */ _ASSERTE(_BLOCK_TYPE_IS_VALID(pHead->nBlockUse)); An investigation I did revealed that the problem happened because of a global overloading of the new/delete operators. Those overloadings are placed in a separate DLL. I discovered that the problem happens only when that DLL is compiled in RELEASE while the main application is compiled in DEBUG. So I thought that the Release/Debug build flavors might have created a problem like this in Boost/CRT when overloading new/delete operators. So I then tried to explicitly call to _malloc_dbg and _free_dbg withing the overloading functions even in release mode, but it didn't solve the invalid heap block problem. Any idea what the root cause of the problem is? is that situation solvable? I should stress that the problem began only when I started to use Boost. Before that CRT never complained about any invalid memory block. So could it be an internal Boost bug? Thanks!

  • How do you map a DateTime property to 2 varchar columns in the database with NHibernate (Fluent)?

    I'm dealing with a legacy database that has date and time fields as char(8) columns (formatted yyyyMMdd and HH:mm:ss, respectively) in some of the tables. How can i map the 2 char columns to a single .NET DateTime property? I have tried the following, but i get a "can't access setter" error of course because DateTime Date and TimeOfDay properties are read-only: public class SweetPocoMannaFromHeaven { public virtual DateTime? FileCreationDateTime { get; set; } } . mapping.Component<DateTime?>(x => x.FileCreationDateTime, dt => { dt.Map(x => x.Value.Date, "file_creation_date"); dt.Map(x => x.Value.TimeOfDay, "file_creation_time"); }); I have also tried defining a IUserType for DateTime, but i can't figure it out. I've done a ton of googling for an answer, but i can't figure it out still. What is my best option to handle this stupid legacy database convention? A code example would be helpful since there's not much out for documentation on some of these more obscure scenarios.

    Hi, I have a WCF service with three methods. Two of the methods return custom types (these work as expected), and the third method takes a custom type as a parameter and returns a boolean. When calling the third method via a PHP soap client it returns an 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object' exception.   • AVAudioPlayer not unloading cached memory after each new allocation

    I am seeing in Instruments that when I play a sound via the standard "AddMusic" example method that Apple provides, it allocates 32kb of memory via the prepareToPlay call (which references the AudioToolBox framework's Cache_DataSource::ReadBytes function) each time a new player is allocated (i.e. each time a different sound is played). However, that cached data never gets released. This obviously poses a huge problem if it doesn't get released and you have a lot of sound files to play, since it tends to keep allocating memory and eventually crashes if you have enough unique sound files (which I unfortunately do). Have any of you run across this or what am I doing wrong in my code? I've had this issue for a while now and it's really bugging me since my code is verbatim of what Apple's is (I think). Does the NSSet allObjects method already return a retained array? It's probably too late and I have a coffee overdose. I'd be really thankful if someone could point me in the right direction. I guess I'm missing vital parts of memory management knowledge and I will definitely look into it thoroughly.

    I want a class something like this: public interface IDateRecognizer { DateTime[] Recognize(string s); } The dates might exist anywhere in the string and might be any format. For now, I could limit to U.S. culture formats. The dates would not be delimited in any way. They might have arbitrary amounts of whitespace between parts of the date. The ideas I have are: ANTLR Regex Hand rolled I have never used ANTLR, so I would be learning from scratch. I wonder if there are libraries or code samples out there that do something similar that could jump start me. Is ANTLR too heavy for such a narrow use? I have used Regex a lot before, but I hate it for all the reasons that most people hate it. I could certainly hand roll it but I'd rather not re-solve a solved problem. Suggestions? UPDATE: Here is an example. Given this input: This is a date 11/3/63. Here is another one: November 03, 1963; and another one Nov 03, 63 and some more (11/03/1963). The dates could be in any U.S. format. They might have dashes like 11-2-1963 or weird extra whitespace inside like this: Nov   3,   1963, and even maybe the comma is missing like [Nov 3 63] but that's an edge case. The output should be an array of seven DateTimes. Each date would be the same: 11/03/1963 00:00:00.

  • How to perform Linq select new with datetime in SQL 2008

    In our C# code I recently changed a line from inside a linq-to-sql select new query as follows: OrderDate = (p.OrderDate.HasValue ? p.OrderDate.Value.Year.ToString() + "-" + p.OrderDate.Value.Month.ToString() + "-" + p.OrderDate.Value.Day.ToString() : "") To: OrderDate = (p.OrderDate.HasValue ? p.OrderDate.Value.ToString("yyyy-mm-dd") : "") The change makes the line smaller and cleaner. It also works fine with our SQL 2008 database in our development environment. However, when the code deployed to our production environment which uses SQL 2005 I received an exception stating: Nullable Type must have a value. For further analysis I copied (p.OrderDate.HasValue ? p.OrderDate.Value.ToString("yyyy-mm-dd") : "") into a string (outside of a Linq statement) and had no problems at all, so it only causes an in issue inside my Linq. Is this problem just something to do with SQL 2005 using different date formats than from SQL 2008? Here's more of the Linq: dt = FilteredOrders.Where(x => x != null).Select(p => new { Order = p.OrderId, link = "/order/" + p.OrderId.ToString(), StudentId = (p.PersonId.HasValue ? p.PersonId.Value : 0), FirstName = p.IdentifierAccount.Person.FirstName, LastName = p.IdentifierAccount.Person.LastName, DeliverBy = p.DeliverBy, OrderDate = p.OrderDate.HasValue ? p.OrderDate.Value.Date.ToString("yyyy-mm-dd") : ""}).ToDataTable(); This is selecting from a List of Order objects. The FilteredOrders list is from another linq-to-sql query and I call .AsEnumerable on it before giving it to this particular select new query.
