  In yesterday’s blog post we learned the importance of the HIVE in Big Data Story. In this article we will understand what is PIG and PIG Latin in Big Data Story. Yahoo started working on Pig for their application deployment on Hadoop. The goal of Yahoo to manage their unstructured data. What is Pig and What is Pig Latin? Pig is a high level platform for creating MapReduce programs used with Hadoop and the language we use for this platform is called PIG Latin. The pig was designed to make Hadoop more user-friendly and approachable by power-users and nondevelopers. PIG is an interactive execution environment supporting Pig Latin language. The language Pig Latin has supported loading and processing of input data with series of transforming to produce desired results. PIG has two different execution environments 1) Local Mode – In this case all the scripts run on a single machine. 2) Hadoop – In this case all the scripts run on Hadoop Cluster. Pig Latin vs SQL Pig essentially creates set of map and reduce jobs under the hoods. Due to same users does not have to now write, compile and build solution for Big Data. The pig is very similar to SQL in many ways. The Ping Latin language provide an abstraction layer over the data. It focuses on the data and not the structure under the hood. Pig Latin is a very powerful language and it can do various operations like loading and storing data, streaming data, filtering data as well various data operations related to strings. The major difference between SQL and Pig Latin is that PIG is procedural and SQL is declarative. In simpler words, Pig Latin is very similar to SQ Lexecution plan and that makes it much easier for programmers to build various processes. Whereas SQL handles trees naturally, Pig Latin follows directed acyclic graph (DAG). DAGs is used to model several different kinds of structures in mathematics and computer science.   I have used one polygon shape image (terrain) in my game. It's just like a mountain, and now I want to move the tanker on a mountain path from one side to the other and then turn around at the edge of the screen and go back. I don't understand the method to move the tanker on the slope (image) path in chipmunk spacemanager. When collision detection happens like that, if any bomb falls on the slope (image of mountain) then I want to do a little damage to the slope (image of mountain) like this video.

  Hey its Vegas baby! Brad was stylin. Tim and I were a poor mans Vin Diesel and Tom Cruise. The jacket and shades actually suited Karen. Dan looked like he worked in Vegas. Ward was, well, Ward. • Please Help with ATI Radeon 4250 and Xinerama

  I am using ubuntu 11.10 fresh install and I am having problems making the second screen to work, I remember before I was able to do it by extending the desktop to a larger number like 3840 X 1080 but since I am new I completely forgot how to do it, Now I have a philips 230 E monitor full 1920 X 1080 and a Toshiba tv HDMI and I want to activate the second monitor to be able to use Xinerama but I don't know how to go about this, I want to keep the Phillips as a primary monitor since it's the smaller one and use the TV from time to time to play videos movies and presentations. I installed all the additional drivers and don't know what else to do. I would prefer if I can use a list of exact commands to copy and paste onto the terminal since that is all I know how to use LOL . Thank you so much for your help. • Clever DIY Display Showcases Game Consoles While Concealing Cables

  How do you display all your vintage game consoles while keeping them in a clutter free and ready-to-play state? This wall-mounted display does a great job showing off the retro gear while keeping everything tidy. Courteys of German tinker and gamer Holger, the design of the display is deceptively simple. The wall mount is a basic 2×4 frame wrapped in black roofing batten (similar to the lightweight weed-fabric used in gardens). Screw-in mounts for the LACK shelves are positioned every foot or so going up the frame and a small slit in the fabric allows for hidden routing of the cables. • Doing two Declarative Operations with One Button

  You can file the below video under "things that get asked on OTN a lot". With ADF it is very easy to drag an operation to a page to create a button that activate it. But what if you want a single button to invoke two operations? For example have a button that does a "Delete" as well as a "Commit". The way to do it is to add an action binding, and then overwrite the button function in a backing bean to call the additional action. The nice thing is that JDeveloper will create all the binding code for you in the backing bean - all you need to do is duplicate it. Here is a quick demo:

• Internal microphone not working in Google talk

  My laptop is Lenovo T400, which has an internal microphone. My OS is Ubuntu 10.10. My browser is Firefox 11.0. The internal microphone works fine, because I can use it to record my voice using Audaciy. However, in Google talk, I have choose "Internal Audio Analog Stereo" in "Settings - Voice and video chat - Microphone:". But when I click "Verify your settings", it doesn't work. Neither can I speak to others using Google Talk. I wonder why? Thanks and regards!

• Going Metro

  When it was announced, I confess was somewhat surprised by the striking new "Metro" User Interface for Windows 8, based on Swiss typography, Bauhaus design, tiles, touches and gestures, and the new Windows Runtime (WinRT) API on which Metro apps were to be built. It all seemed to have come out of nowhere, like field mushrooms in the night and seemed quite out-of-character for a company like Microsoft, which has hung on determinedly for over twenty years to its quaint Windowing system. Many were initially puzzled by the lack of support for plug-ins in the "Metro" version of IE10, which ships with Win8, and the apparent demise of Silverlight, Microsoft's previous 'radical new framework'. Win8 signals the end of the road for Silverlight apps in the browser, but then its importance here has been waning for some time, anyway, now that HTML5 has usurped its most compelling use case, streaming video. As Shawn Wildermuth and others have noted, if you're doing enterprise, desktop development with Silverlight then nothing much changes immediately, though it seems clear that ultimately Silverlight will die off in favor of a single WPF/XAML framework that supports those technologies that were pioneered on the phones and tablets. There is a mystery here. Is Silverlight dead, or merely repurposed? The more you look at Metro, the more it seems to resemble Silverlight. A lot of the philosophies underpinning Silverlight applications, such as the fundamentally asynchronous nature of the design, have moved wholesale into Metro, along with most the Microsoft Silverlight dev team. As Simon Cooper points out, "Silverlight developers, already used to all the principles of sandboxing and separation, will have a much easier time writing Metro apps than desktop developers". Metro certainly has given the framework formerly known as Silverlight a new purpose. It has enabled Microsoft to bestow on Windows 8 a new "duality", as both a traditional desktop OS supporting 'legacy' Windows applications, and an OS that supports a new breed of application that can share functionality such as search, that understands, and can react to, the full range of gestures and screen-sizes, and has location-awareness. It's clear that Win8 is developed in the knowledge that the 'desktop computer' will soon be a very large, tilted, touch-screen monitor. Windows owes its new-found versatility to the lessons learned from Windows Phone, but it's developed for the big screen, and with full support for familiar .NET desktop apps as well as the new Metro apps. But the old mouse-driven Windows applications will soon look very passé, just as MSDOS character-mode applications did in the nineties. Cheers, Tony.

• Using IP Restrictions with URL Rewrite-Week 25

  URL Rewrite offers tremendous flexibility for customizing rules to your environment. One area of functionality that is often desired for URL Rewrite is to allow a large list of approved or denied IP addresses and subnet ranges. IIS’s original IP Restrictions is helpful for fully blocking an IP address, but it doesn’t offer the flexibility that URL Rewrite does. An example where URL Rewrite is helpful is where you want to allow only authorized IPs to access staging.yoursite.com, but where staging.yoursite.com is part of the same site as www.yoursite.com. This requires conditional logic for the user’s IP. This lesson covers this unique situation while also introducing Rewrite Maps, server variables, and pairing rules to add more flexibility. Alaska Airlines greatly improved their ability to be more personal with their customers by replacing a legacy mainframe loyalty system with Siebel Loyalty and Siebel Marketing. Which means, as an Alaska Airlines customer, I get less junk mail! With improved access to customer profile information in Siebel, Alaska Airlines presents targeted, relevant offers on their website and via email. At the same time, Alaska Airlines has reduced their speed-to-market with promotions by 150 percent and can now implement new partner marketing programs twice as fast. • Phillips SAA7139 TV tuner card not working

  When I had windows 7 installed on my computer, My TV tuner card used to work fine after installing the drivers but on ubuntu it is not working. I have tried several Softwares to get it working but none helped. Today I installed Me Tv and when I open it, I get an error saying "There are no DVB devices available". What can I do to get my Philips TV Tuner card working. • How do I get TV out working on an ATI X800 GTO²?

  Is there any way to make my graphics card (ATI x800) work with tvout? I know there are no proprietary drivers for this card only the opensource ones.
