  • Is is possible to create a factory class in PHP?

    - by user198729
Like the BeanFactory in java: In the much more common case where the BeanFactory itself directly creates the bean by calling its constructor (equivalent to Java code calling new), the class attribute specifies the class of the bean to be constructed. In the less common case where the BeanFactory calls a static, so-called factory method on a class to create the bean, the class attribute specifies the actual class containing the static factory method. Note:it's not the factory method

  • Passing arguments between classes - use public properties or pass a properties class as argument?

    - by devoured elysium
So let's assume I have a class named ABC that will have a list of Point objects. I need to make some drawing logic with them. Each one of those Point objects will have a Draw() method that will be called by the ABC class. The Draw() method code will need info from ABC class. I can only see two ways to make them have this info: Having Abc class make public some properties that would allow draw() to make its decisions. Having Abc class pass to draw() a class full of properties. The properties in both cases would be the same, my question is what is preferred in this case. Maybe the second approach is more flexible? Maybe not? I don't see here a clear winner, but that sure has more to do with my inexperience than any other thing. If there are other good approaches, feel free to share them. Here are both cases: class Abc1 { public property a; public property b; public property c; ... public property z; public void method1(); ... public void methodn(); } and here is approach 2: class Abc2 { //here we make take down all properties public void method1(); ... public void methodn(); } class Abc2MethodArgs { //and we put them here. this class will be passed as argument to //Point's draw() method! public property a; public property b; public property c; ... public property z; } Also, if there are any "formal" names for these two approaches, I'd like to know them so I can better choose the tags/thread name, so it's more useful for searching purposes. That or feel free to edit them.

  • Best way to package a class for use in another app?

    - by Brad Hein
I've written an Android app wich various abstract classes that perform useful functions. These functions could be leveraged in other apps. I want to share a class module with another programmer, but I don't want to share the source code. I would like to share a .class file but I'm not sure how to do the following: Compile an Android .java file into .class What does the receiver of the .class file have to do to use that .class in their project? (using Eclipse environment) Thank you very much

  • C# Reflection: How to call method of interface without creating instance?

    - by jitm
Hello, I have situation where I have to call method of interface using reflection, like this object x = null; MethodInfo method = interfaceExists.GetMethod("ShutDown"); method.Invoke(x, new object[] { 4 }) As you can see I do not create instance of object! And, as I can supposed, I receive exception Non-static method requires a target And Question, Can I call method of interface using reflection without creating instance of interface and if YES, How I can do it ? Thank you.

  • best alternative to in-definition initialization of static class members? (for SVN keywords)

    - by Jeff
I'm storing expanded SVN keyword literals for .cpp files in 'static char const *const' class members and want to store the .h descriptions as similarly as possible. In short, I need to guarantee single instantiation of a static member (presumably in a .cpp file) to an auto-generated non-integer literal living in a potentially shared .h file. Unfortunately the language makes no attempt to resolve multiple instantiations resulting from assignments made outside class definitions and explicitly forbids non-integer inits inside class definitions. My best attempt (using static-wrapping internal classes) is not too dirty, but I'd really like to do better. Does anyone have a way to template the wrapper below or have an altogether superior approach? // Foo.h: class with .h/.cpp SVN info stored and logged statically class Foo { static Logger const verLog; struct hInfoWrap; public: static hInfoWrap const hInfo; static char const *const cInfo; }; // Would like to eliminate this per-class boilerplate. struct Foo::hInfoWrap { hInfoWrapper() : text("$Id$") { } char const *const text; }; ... // Foo.cpp: static inits called here Foo::hInfoWrap const Foo::hInfo; char const *const Foo::cInfo = "$Id$"; Logger const Foo::verLog(Foo::cInfo, Foo::hInfo.text); ... // Helper.h: output on construction, with no subsequent activity or stored fields class Logger { Logger(char const *info1, char const *info2) { cout << info0 << endl << info1 << endl; } }; Is there a way to get around the static linkage address issue for templating the hInfoWrap class on string literals? Extern char pointers assigned outside class definitions are linguistically valid but fail in essentially the same manner as direct member initializations. I get why the language shirks the whole resolution issue, but it'd be very convenient if an inverted extern member qualifier were provided, where the definition code was visible in class definitions to any caller but only actually invoked at the point of a single special declaration elsewhere. Anyway, I digress. What's the best solution for the language we've got, template or otherwise? Thanks!

  • What are the scenarios in which case a new class will be loaded?

    - by GK
That is when you have any jar file attached to you your class path. then as far as i know any class from the jar is loaded for the first time when, when you create any object of that type. or If you are accessing any static member or method of that class. or when you load that by using Class.forName() method. So are there any other ways of loading a class for the first time?

  • How to define an aspectj pointcut that picks out all constructors of a class that has a specific annotation?

    - by PineForest
Here is the annotation: @Target(value = ElementType.TYPE) @Retention(value = RetentionPolicy.RUNTIME) @Inherited public @interface MyAnnotation { String name(); } Here is one annotated class: @MyAnnotation(name="foo") public class ClassA { public ClassA() { // Do something } } Here is a second annotated class: @MyAnnotation(name="bar") public class ClassB { public ClassB(String aString) { // Do something } } I am looking for an aspectj pointcut that correctly matches the constructors for ClassA and ClassB while not matching any other constructor for any other class NOT annotated by MyAnnotation.

  • C# 4.0: Named And Optional Arguments

    - by Paulo Morgado
As part of the co-evolution effort of C# and Visual Basic, C# 4.0 introduces Named and Optional Arguments. First of all, let’s clarify what are arguments and parameters: Method definition parameters are the input variables of the method. Method call arguments are the values provided to the method parameters. In fact, the C# Language Specification states the following on §7.5: The argument list (§7.5.1) of a function member invocation provides actual values or variable references for the parameters of the function member. Given the above definitions, we can state that: Parameters have always been named and still are. Parameters have never been optional and still aren’t. Named Arguments Until now, the way the C# compiler matched method call definition arguments with method parameters was by position. The first argument provides the value for the first parameter, the second argument provides the value for the second parameter, and so on and so on, regardless of the name of the parameters. If a parameter was missing a corresponding argument to provide its value, the compiler would emit a compilation error. For this call: Greeting("Mr.", "Morgado", 42); this method: public void Greeting(string title, string name, int age) will receive as parameters: title: “Mr.” name: “Morgado” age: 42 What this new feature allows is to use the names of the parameters to identify the corresponding arguments in the form: name:value Not all arguments in the argument list must be named. However, all named arguments must be at the end of the argument list. The matching between arguments (and the evaluation of its value) and parameters will be done first by name for the named arguments and than by position for the unnamed arguments. This means that, for this method definition: public static void Method(int first, int second, int third) this call declaration: int i = 0; Method(i, third: i++, second: ++i); will have this code generated by the compiler: int i = 0; int CS$0$0000 = i++; int CS$0$0001 = ++i; Method(i, CS$0$0001, CS$0$0000); which will give the method the following parameter values: first: 2 second: 2 third: 0 Notice the variable names. Although invalid being invalid C# identifiers, they are valid .NET identifiers and thus avoiding collision between user written and compiler generated code. Besides allowing to re-order of the argument list, this feature is very useful for auto-documenting the code, for example, when the argument list is very long or not clear, from the call site, what the arguments are. Optional Arguments Parameters can now have default values: public static void Method(int first, int second = 2, int third = 3) Parameters with default values must be the last in the parameter list and its value is used as the value of the parameter if the corresponding argument is missing from the method call declaration. For this call declaration: int i = 0; Method(i, third: ++i); will have this code generated by the compiler: int i = 0; int CS$0$0000 = ++i; Method(i, 2, CS$0$0000); which will give the method the following parameter values: first: 1 second: 2 third: 1 Because, when method parameters have default values, arguments can be omitted from the call declaration, this might seem like method overloading or a good replacement for it, but it isn’t. Although methods like this: public static StreamReader OpenTextFile( string path, Encoding encoding = null, bool detectEncoding = true, int bufferSize = 1024) allow to have its calls written like this: OpenTextFile("foo.txt", Encoding.UTF8); OpenTextFile("foo.txt", Encoding.UTF8, bufferSize: 4096); OpenTextFile( bufferSize: 4096, path: "foo.txt", detectEncoding: false); The complier handles default values like constant fields taking the value and useing it instead of a reference to the value. So, like with constant fields, methods with parameters with default values are exposed publicly (and remember that internal members might be publicly accessible – InternalsVisibleToAttribute). If such methods are publicly accessible and used by another assembly, those values will be hard coded in the calling code and, if the called assembly has its default values changed, they won’t be assumed by already compiled code. At the first glance, I though that using optional arguments for “bad” written code was great, but the ability to write code like that was just pure evil. But than I realized that, since I use private constant fields, it’s OK to use default parameter values on privately accessed methods.

  • FCKEditor doesn't set Value property on postback!

    - by Shaul
    I'm using FCKEditor on my asp.net web page. It appears beautifully, and the editor looks really good on the front end. Only problem is, the .Value property is not being set on the postback. No matter what changes the user makes to the value of the control on the page, when I click "Submit", the .Value property remains blank. I have Googled for other solutions, and most of them are of the variety where there's some conflict with Ajax, such as this and this. My problem is not solved by these solutions; it's much more fundamental than that. I'm not doing anything to do with Ajax; I'm just a simple asp.net newbie with a simple web form, and the value property is not being set on postback, not in IE and not in FF. It appears that at least one other person has had this problem, but no solution yet. Any ideas? Thanks! New information: I tried this out on a "hello world" test web site - and the test web site works 100%. There is obviously a problem on my page, but I have no idea where to begin tracking this down. Here's the markup of my page, in case anyone can see anything obvious that my newbie eyes can't: <%@ Page Language="vb" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeBehind="EmailTemplateEditForm.aspx.vb" Inherits="EEI_App.EmailTemplateEditForm" %> <%@ Register Assembly="FredCK.FCKeditorV2" Namespace="FredCK.FCKeditorV2" TagPrefix="FCKeditorV2" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server"> <title>EEI - Email Template</title> <link rel="stylesheet" href="EEI.css"> <script language="javascript" id="jssembleWare" src="sembleWare.js"></script> <style type="text/css"> .style1 { height: 251px; } .style2 { width: 2%; height: 251px; } .style3 { height: 490px; } </style> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <%@ register src="header.ascx" tagname="header" tagprefix="uc1" %> <%@ register src="footer.ascx" tagname="footer" tagprefix="uc1" %> <uc1:header ID="header1" runat="server" /> <!-- main content area --> <div class="content"> <!-- title of the page --> <div class="boxheader"> Email Template </div> <div class="standardbox"> <!-- Start Page Main Contents--> <!-- error messages --> <div class="errorbox"> <asp:Label ID="lblError" CssClass="ErrorControlStyle" runat="server" EnableViewState="False" Width="100%"></asp:Label> </div> <table class="contenttable"> <tr> <td align="left" valign="top" class="style3"> <div class="actionbox"> <div class="navheadertitle"> Navigation</div> <ul> <li> <asp:LinkButton ID="btnSubmit" CssClass="LinkButtonStyle" runat="server">Submit</asp:LinkButton> </li> <li> <asp:LinkButton ID="btnCancel" CssClass="LinkButtonStyle" runat="server" CausesValidation="false">Cancel</asp:LinkButton> </li> </ul> </div> </td> <td align="left" valign="top" class="style3"> <p> </p> <table> <tr class="MCRSFieldRow"> <td class="MCRSFieldLabelCell"> <asp:Label ID="lblEmailTemplate_TemplateName" CssClass="LabelStyle" runat="server" Width="175">Template Name</asp:Label> </td> <td class="MCRSFieldEditCell"> <asp:TextBox ID="txtEmailTemplate_TemplateName" CssClass="TextBoxStyle" runat="server" Width="100%"></asp:TextBox> </td> <td class="MCRSFieldLabelCell"> <asp:Label ID="lblEmailTemplate_TemplateType" CssClass="LabelStyle" runat="server" Width="175">Template Type</asp:Label> </td> <td class="MCRSFieldEditCell"> <asp:RadioButtonList ID="rblEmailTemplate_TemplateType" CssClass="RadioButtonListStyle" runat="server" RepeatColumns="1" RepeatDirection="Horizontal" Width="135px"> <asp:ListItem Value="1">Cover Letter</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem Value="2">Email</asp:ListItem> </asp:RadioButtonList> </td> <td class="MCRSRowRightCell"> &nbsp; </td> </tr> <tr class="MCRSFieldRow"> <td class="MCRSFieldLabelCell"> Composition Date </td> <td class="MCRSFieldEditCell"> <asp:Label ID="lblEmailTemplate_CompositionDate" CssClass="ElementLabelStyle" runat="server" Width="175"></asp:Label> </td> <td class="MCRSFieldLabelCell"> Last Used Date </td> <td class="MCRSFieldEditCell"> <asp:Label ID="lblEmailTemplate_LastUsedDate" CssClass="ElementLabelStyle" runat="server" Width="175"></asp:Label> </td> <td class="MCRSRowRightCell"> &nbsp; </td> </tr> <tr class="MCRSFieldRow"> <td class="MCRSFieldLabelCell"> Composed By </td> <td class="MCRSFieldEditCell" colspan="3"> <asp:Label ID="lblPerson_FirstNames" CssClass="ElementLabelStyle" runat="server"></asp:Label> <asp:Label ID="lblPerson_LastName" CssClass="ElementLabelStyle" runat="server"></asp:Label> </td> <td class="MCRSRowRightCell"> &nbsp; </td> </tr> <tr class="MCRSFieldRow"> <td class="MCRSFieldLabelCell"> <asp:Label ID="lblEmailTemplate_Subject" CssClass="LabelStyle" runat="server" Width="175">Subject</asp:Label> </td> <td class="MCRSFieldEditCell" colspan="3"> <asp:TextBox ID="txtEmailTemplate_Subject" CssClass="TextBoxStyle" runat="server" Width="100%"></asp:TextBox> </td> <td class="MCRSRowRightCell"> &nbsp; </td> </tr> <tr class="MCRSFieldRow"> <td class="style1"> <asp:Label ID="lblEmailTemplate_Body" CssClass="LabelStyle" runat="server" Width="175">Body</asp:Label> </td> <td class="style1" colspan="3"> <FCKeditorV2:FCKeditor ID="FCKeditor1" runat="server" Height="500px"> </FCKeditorV2:FCKeditor> </td> <td class="style2"> &nbsp; </td> </tr> </table> </td> </tr> </table> </div> <p> <a class="InputButtonStyle" href="#_swTopOfPage">Top of Page</a> </p> </div> <uc1:footer ID="footer1" runat="server" /> <p> <asp:TextBox ID="txtEmailTemplate_Body" CssClass="TextAreaStyle" Rows="4" runat="server" Width="100%" Height="16px" Visible="False"></asp:TextBox> </p> </form> </body> </html>

  • Cyclic Reference - protocols and subclasses

    - by blindJesse
    I'm getting some cyclic reference (I think) problems between a few classes that require imported headers due to either subclassing or protocol definitions. I can explain why things are set up this way but I'm not sure it's essential. Basically these classes are managing reciprocal to-many data relationships. The layout is this: Class A imports Class B because it's a delegate of Class B and needs its protocol definition. Class B imports Class C because it's a subclass of Class C. Class C imports Class A because it's a delegate of Class A and needs its protocol definition. Here's some sample code that illustrates the problem. The errors I'm getting are as follows: In Class A - "Can't find protocol definition for Class_B_Delegate". In Class B - "Can't find interface declaration for Class C - superclass of Class B." In Class C - "Can't find protocol definition for Class_A_Delegate". Class A header: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #import "Class_B.h" @protocol Class_A_Delegate @end @interface Class_A : NSObject <Class_B_Delegate> { } @end Class B header: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #import "Class_C.h" @protocol Class_B_Delegate <NSObject> @end @interface Class_B : Class_C { } @end Class C Header: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #import "Class_A.h" @interface Class_C : NSObject <Class_A_Delegate> { } @end

  • PHP MVC Framework Structure

    - by bigstylee
I am sorry about the amount of code here. I have tried to show enough for understanding while avoiding confusion (I hope). I have included a second copy of the code at Pastebin. (The code does execute without error/notice/warning.) I am currently creating a Content Management System while trying to implement the idea of Model View Controller. I have only recently come across the concept of MVC (within the last week) and trying to implement this into my current project. One of the features of the CMS is dynamic/customisable menu areas and each feature will be represented by a controller. Therefore there will be multiple versions of the Controller Class, each with specific extended functionality. I have looked at a number of tutorials and read some open source solutions to the MVC Framework. I am now trying to create a lightweight solution for my specific requirements. I am not interested in backwards compatibility, I am using PHP 5.3. An advantage of the Base class is not having to use global and can directly access any loaded class using $this->Obj['ClassName']->property/function();. Hoping to get some feedback using the basic structure outlined (with performance in mind). Specifically; a) Have I understood/implemented the concept of MVC correctly? b) Have I understood/implemented Object Orientated techniques with PHP 5 correctly? c) Should the class propertise of Base be static? d) Improvements? Thank you very much in advance! <?php /* A "Super Class" that creates/stores all object instances */ class Base { public static $Obj = array(); // Not sure this is the correct use of the "static" keyword? public static $var; static public function load_class($directory, $class) { echo count(self::$Obj)."\n"; // This does show the array is getting updated and not creating a new array :) if (!isset(self::$Obj[$class]) && !is_object(self::$Obj[$class])) //dont want to load it twice { /* Locate and include the class file based upon name ($class) */ return self::$Obj[$class] = new $class(); } return TRUE; } } /* Loads general configuration objects into the "Super Class" */ class Libraries extends Base { public function __construct(){ $this->load_class('library', 'Database'); $this->load_class('library', 'Session'); self::$var = 'Hello World!'; //testing visibility /* Other general funciton classes */ } } class Database extends Base { /* Connects to the the database and executes all queries */ public function query(){} } class Session extends Base { /* Implements Sessions in database (read/write) */ } /* General functionality of controllers */ abstract class Controller extends Base { protected function load_model($class, $method) { /* Locate and include the model file */ $this->load_class('model', $class); call_user_func(array(self::$Obj[$class], $method)); } protected function load_view($name) { /* Locate and include the view file */ #include('views/'.$name.'.php'); } } abstract class View extends Base { /* ... */ } abstract class Model extends Base { /* ... */ } class News extends Controller { public function index() { /* Displays the 5 most recent News articles and displays with Content Area */ $this->load_model('NewsModel', 'index'); $this->load_view('news', 'index'); echo $this->var; } public function menu() { /* Displays the News Title of the 5 most recent News articles and displays within the Menu Area */ $this->load_model('news/index'); $this->load_view('news/index'); } } class ChatBox extends Controller { /* ... */ } /* Lots of different features extending the controller/view/model class depending upon request and layout */ class NewsModel extends Model { public function index() { echo $this->var; self::$Obj['Database']->query(/*SELECT 5 most recent news articles*/); } public function menu() { /* ... */ } } $Libraries = new Libraries; $controller = 'News'; // Would be determined from Query String $method = 'index'; // Would be determined from Query String $Content = $Libraries->load_class('controller', $controller); //create the controller for the specific page if (in_array($method, get_class_methods($Content))) { call_user_func(array($Content, $method)); } else { die('Bad Request'. $method); } $Content::$var = 'Goodbye World'; echo $Libraries::$var . • How do would you use jQuery's .each() to apply the same script to each element with the same class?

    - by derekmx271
I have a with multiple cart items listed. I have a "x-men logo" looking remove button that I want to fade-in next to the item when the customer hovers over a cart item. I had no issue getting this to work when there is only one item in the list. However, when there are multiple items in the cart, the jQuery operates funky. It still does the fade in, but only when I hover over the last item in the cart, and of course all of the "remove X" images become visible. Argh... So i searched around and think the .each() is my savior. I have been trying to get it to work, with no luck. My script just breaks when I attempt to implement it. Anyone have any pointers on this *.each() thing and how to implement it into my script?* I have tried putting a cartItem.each(function(){ around the mouseEnter/mouseLeave events (and used some $(this) selectors to make it "make sense") and that didn't do anything. Tried some other things as well with no luck... Here is the HTML (Sorry, there's a lot): <ul id="head-cart-items"> <!-- Item #1 --> <li> <!-- Item #1 Wrap --> <div class="head-cart-item"> <div class="head-cart-img" style='background-image:url("/viewimageresize.asp?mh=50&amp;mw=50&amp;p=AFE&amp;f=Air_Intakes_Magnum_FORCE_Stage-1_PRO_5R")'> </div> <div class="head-cart-desc"> <h3> <a href="/partdetails/AFE/Intakes/Air_Intakes/Magnum_FORCE_Stage-1_PRO_5R/19029">AFE Magnum FORCE Stage-1 PRO 5R Air Intakes</a> </h3> <span class="head-cart-qty">Qty: 1</span> <span class="head-cart-price">$195.00</span> <!-- Here is my Remove-X... --> <a class="remove-x" href='/cart//7806887'> <img src="/images/misc/remove-x.png"> </a> </div> </div> </li> <!-- Item #2 --> <li> <!-- Item #2 Wrap --> <div class="head-cart-item"> <div class="head-cart-img" style='background-image:url("/viewimageresize.asp?mh=50&amp;mw=50&amp;p=Exedy&amp;f=Clutch_Kits_Carbon-R")'> </div> <div class="head-cart-desc"> <h3> <a href="/partdetails/Exedy/Clutch/Clutch_Kits/Carbon-R/19684">Exedy Carbon-R Clutch Kits</a> </h3> <span class="head-cart-qty">Qty: 1</span> <span class="head-cart-price">$2,880.00</span> <!-- Here is my other Remove-X... --> <a class="remove-x" href='/cart//7806888'> <img src="/images/misc/remove-x.png"> </a> </div> </div> </li> </ul> And here is the jQuery... $(document).ready(function(){ var removeX = $(".remove-x"); var cartItem = $(".head-cart-item"); // Start with an invisible X removeX.fadeTo(0,0); // When hovering over Cart Item cartItem.mouseenter(function(){ // Fade the X to 100% removeX.fadeTo("normal",1); // On mouseout, fade it back to 0% $(this).mouseleave(function(){ removeX.fadeTo("fast",0); }); }); }); If you didn't see it, here is the "X" I am trying to fade... <!-- Here is my Remove-X... --> <a class="remove-x" href='/cart//7806887'> <img src="/images/misc/remove-x.png"> </a> Thanks for the help in advance. • Are first-class functions a substitute for the Strategy pattern?

    - by Prog
The Strategy design pattern is often regarded as a substitute for first-class functions in languages that lack them. So for example say you wanted to pass functionality into an object. In Java you'd have to pass in the object another object which encapsulates the desired behavior. In a language such as Ruby, you'd just pass the functionality itself in the form of an annonymous function. However I was thinking about it and decided that maybe Strategy offers more than a plain annonymous function does. This is because an object can hold state that exists independently of the period when it's method runs. However an annonymous function by itself can only hold state that ceases to exist the moment the function finishes execution. So my question is: when using a language that features first-class functions, would you ever use the Strategy pattern (i.e. encapsulate the functionality you want to pass around in an explicit object), or would you always use an annonymous function? When would you decide to use Strategy when you can use a first-class function?

  • Is this JS code a good way for defining class with private methods?

    - by tigrou
I was recently browsing a open source JavaScript project. The project is a straight port from another project in C language. It mostly use static methods, packed together in classes. Most classes are implemented using this pattern : Foo = (function () { var privateField = "bar"; var publicField = "bar";     function publicMethod() { console.log('this is public');     } function privateMethod() { console.log('this is private'); } return {   publicMethod : publicMethod, publicField : publicField }; })(); This was the first time I saw private methods implemented that way. I perfectly understand how it works, using a anonymous method. Here is my question : is this pattern a good practice ? What are the actual limitations or caveats ? Usually i declare my JavaScript classes like that : Foo = new function () { var privateField = "test"; this.publicField = "test";     this.publicMethod = function()     { console.log('this method is public'); privateMethod();     } function privateMethod() { console.log('this method is private'); } }; Other than syntax, is there any difference with the pattern show above ?

  • How do I select the last XHTML <span> element with a particular class in XPath?

    - by Fintan
My target XHTML document (simplified) is like the following: <html> <head> </head> <body> <span class="boris"> </span> <span class="boris"> </span> <span class="johnson"> </span> </body> </html> I'm trying to select the last of class "boris." The XPath expression //span[@class="boris"] selects all spans of class boris. How do I select the last one of these? I've tried //span[@class="boris" and last()] which doesn't work because last() here refers to the last span in the WHOLE DOCUMENT. How do I select all the spans of class boris... and then the last one of these? I've read 5 or 6 XPath tutorials and done a lot of Googling and I can't find a way to do this in XPath alone :( Thanks in advance for help :)

  • Why my inner class DO see a NON static variable?

    - by Roman
    Earlier I had a problem when an inner anonymous class did not see a field of the "outer" class. I needed to make a final variable to make it visible to the inner class. Now I have an opposite situation. In the "outer" class "ClientListener" I use an inner class "Thread" and the "Thread" class I have the "run" method and does see the "earPort" from the "outer" class! Why? import java.io.IOException; import java.net.*; import java.io.BufferedReader; import java.io.InputStreamReader; public class ClientsListener { private int earPort; // Constructor. public ClientsListener(int earPort) { this.earPort = earPort; } public void starListening() { Thread inputStreamsGenerator = new Thread() { public void run() { System.out.println(earPort); try { System.out.println(earPort); ServerSocket listeningSocket = new ServerSocket(earPort); Socket serverSideSocket = listeningSocket.accept(); BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(serverSideSocket.getInputStream())); } catch (IOException e) { System.out.println(""); } } }; inputStreamsGenerator.start(); } }

  • C# Hiding, overriding and calling function from base class.

    - by Lukasz Lysik
I'm learning C# and I encountered the following problem. I have two classes: base and derived: class MyBase { public void MyMethod() { Console.WriteLine("MyBase::MyMethod()"); } } class MyDerived: MyBase { public void MyMethod() { Console.WriteLine("MyDerived::MyMethod()"); } } For now, without virtual and override key words. When I compile this I get the warning (which is of course expected) that I try to hide MyMethod from MyBase class. What I want to do is to call the method from the base class having an instance of derived class. I do this like this: MyDerived myDerived = new MyDerived(); ((MyBase)myDerived).MyMethod(); It works fine when I do not specify any virtual, etc. keywords in the methods. I tried to put combination of the keywords and I got the following results: | MyBase::MyMethod | MyDerived::MyMethod | Result printed on the console | | -----------------|---------------------|-------------------------------| | - | - | MyBase::MyMethod() | | - | new | MyBase::MyMethod() | | virtual | new | MyBase::MyMethod() | | virtual | override | MyDerived::MyMethod() | I hope the table is clear to you. I have two questions: Is it the correct way to call the function from the base class (((MyBase)myDerived).MyMethod();)? I know about base keyword, but it can be called only from the inside of the derived class. Is it right? Why in the last case (with virtual and override modifiers) the method which was called came from the derived class? Would you please explain that?

  • Where in the standard is forwarding to a base class required in these situations?

    - by pgast
Maybe even better is: Why does the standard require forwarding to a base class in these situations? (yeah yeah yeah - Why? - Because.) class B1 { public: virtual void f()=0; }; class B2 { public: virtual void f(){} }; class D : public B1,public B2{ }; class D2 : public B1,public B2{ public: using B2::f; }; class D3 : public B1,public B2{ public: void f(){ B2::f(); } }; D d; D2 d2; D3 d3; EDG gives: sourceFile.cpp sourceFile.cpp(24) : error C2259: 'D' : cannot instantiate abstract class due to following members: 'void B1::f(void)' : is abstract sourceFile.cpp(6) : see declaration of 'B1::f' sourceFile.cpp(25) : error C2259: 'D2' : cannot instantiate abstract class due to following members: 'void B1::f(void)' : is abstract sourceFile.cpp(6) : see declaration of 'B and similarly for the MS compiler. I might buy the first case,D. But in D2 - f is unambiguously defined by the using declaration, why is that not enough for the compiler to be required to fill out the vtable? Where in the standard is this situation defined?
