  I know this topic has been asked, but the posts are all out of date, or not functional on IE8. In brief we basically want to do the excel style locking of column headers in a GridView. I have seen a couple of solutions one jquery+ css(setExpression) which doesn't work in IE8. And another that uses ajax extensions, yet again doesn't work in IE8.   i'm using linq-to-sql and i'm use complied linq for better performance. I have a users table with a INT field called "LookingFor" that can have the following values.1,2,3,12,123,13,23. I wrote a query to return the users based on the "lookingFor" column i want to return all users that contains the "lookingFor" value (not only those equal to it).   No problem when binding to a property of string type ( "http://something.com" ). However , I seem to have seen in old examples direct binding to Uri property. <dg:DataGridHyperlinkColumn IsReadOnly="True" Header="Uri" Binding="{Binding Path=NavigURI}" /> NavigURI is Uri . More recent docs seem to require a converter <DataGridHyperlinkColumn Header="Email" Binding="{Binding Email}" ContentBinding="{Binding Email, Converter={StaticResource EmailConverter}}" /> I tried with a converter also, but in both cases with or without converter column is empty. Debugging showed that value passed to "Convert" method is always null. My question : if for any reason I want binding to Uri property , is it feasible for the latest DataGrid from Codeplex ?

• Reporting Services 2010 RDLC: Passing Querystring Parameters from an RDLC

  I'm trying to build a simple RDLC report that shows some data, and has a 'select' link that sends the browser off to a certain url with some data in the querystring (a key). In the vs2010 report designer, I can double-click on the column, then select action, and there are a bunch of thigns that seem like they might work. But none of them do. Under 'enable as a hyperlink' I can pick 'go to url' but there aren't any parameter options to pass. I also tried 'go to report' on the off chance that I could trick it into doing what I want. Here there are parameter options, but it knows that my url is not a report and the "select" link renders as text (not clickable). Any ideas? I'm pretty sure this used to work in vs2008, and it seems like something that must be doable. But I've been pulling out my hair for several hours on this one.

In the jqrid documents http://www.trirand.com/jqgridwiki/doku.php?id=wiki:colmodel_options it says: align: Defines the alignment of the cell in the Body layer, not in header cell. Possible values: left, center, right. Note that it says "not in the header cell". How can I do this for the header cell (grid title cell)? The documentation fails to mention this little detail....

• Subtotal error on calculated field in a Reporting Services Matrix

  I've got a Reporting Services report that has two row groups: Category and SubCategory. For columns it has LastYearDataA, ThisYearDataA, LastYearDataB, ThisYearDataB. I added two columns (one for A and one for B) to handle an expression calculation (to show a percentage different from LastYear to ThisYear for each). That's working. The problem comes in the SubTotal for each category. The raw numbers are totaling correctly. If SubCat1 has 10//5 for LastYear/ThisYear A, and SubCat2 has 5//1, then I get 15/5 for the totals. But I get the percentage reported in the total column as "50%", matching SubCat1. Percentages for each Subcategory are being calculated correctly (according to my backup math, anyway). But the sub total % always matches the first SubCategory in the group. Is this impossible to do in Reporting Services 2005?

• jsonSerializer.DeserializeObject and arrays

  I have a column in the a database with values like the below. [{"noteText":"Today was sunny.","noteDate":"2010-03-30 10:06:22"},{"noteDate":"2010-04-06 13:21:36","noteText":"Today was windy."}] I think they are from an array of objects serialized via flash to Json. What I need to do is pull out the noteText and noteDate values only and record them back to the database as a normal string. I was hoping to just deserialize back to objects and build up a string from there, however, due to my unfamiliarity with c# and .Net I've hit a brick wall trying to deserialize the string. var obj = jsonSerializer.DeserializeObject(ns); Am I going in the right direction or should I be looking at doing some string manipulation? Any pointers much appreciated.

  WPF Experts - I am trying to add buttons below my custom listbox and also have the scroll bar go to the bottom of the control. Only the items should move and not the buttons. I was hoping for some guidance on the best way to achieve this. I was thinking the ItemsPanelTemplate needed to be modified but was not certain.   My input is a well-formed XML document and a corresponding XML Schema document. What I would like to do is determine the location within the XML document that causes it to fail validation against the XML Schema document. I could not figure out how to do this using the standard validation approach in Java: SchemaFactory schemaFactory = SchemaFactory.newInstance(XMLConstants.W3C_XML_SCHEMA_NS_URI); Schema schema = schemaFactory.newSchema(... /* the .xsd source */); Validator validator = schema.newValidator(); DocumentBuilderFactory ... • Merge Cells Vertically in RTF

  I need to programmatically generate an RTF document with a table that has a column vertically merged., e.x. ______________________________ | merged | foo | hello | | cell | | | | right |--------|----------| | here | bar | world | |_________|________|__________| I looked up online and found that the codes are \clvmgf and \clvmrg but I can't find a decent example. I made a text rtf using MS word, but there's too much junk rtf codes in it for me to figure it out where to put the \clvmgf and \clvmrg to get this to work. Could someone give me an rtf for above example table with no extraneous rtf codes so I can figure out how \clvmgf and \clvmrg works? Any additional explanation would also be greatly appreciated.   is there a way i can have markdown in .NET/C# application? i wonder shld i store the data in HTML or markdown text? if i store the data in HTML, when the user edits, they will see HTML, but if i store in Markdown, everytime i display, i got to convert to HTML(slow?) or store the HTML in another column, will it waste too much space? i understand markdown.net maybe used for this site. isit true? but heard its not updated since 2004/5?

• How do I prevent flickering on CListCtrl?

  I'm using a CListCtrl/CListView report view (LVS_REPORT) in virtual mode (LVS_OWNERDATA) with LVS_EX_DOUBLEBUFFER enabled and I encounter ugly flickering. Double buffer have a real effect but it doesn't stop all flickering (without it very slow). I'm not looking for switching to other controls that would require a high amount of rework (like ObjectListView) How does the flickering behaves: * on column resize - the background is first clean using lightgray and after this is displayed the text (background is white) * on mouse scroll (animated) - for a very short time there is lightgray-bar displayed in the area where new lines are to be displayed. It looks like it does clean the background using the default window background color (lightgray) for the area where it has to redraw. How do I solve the flickering problem?

• Replace or recode several different values by a single value in an Excel file

  Hi all, I have an Excel worksheet which contains data in several columns. For a specific column, I will need Excel to replace all values between, say 10 to 15, by the value 1 and values between 16 and 20 by the value 2 and so forth. I know how to do it for a single value; ie: I can replace value 10 by 1, 11 by 1 and so on. But this will be a tedious exercise. Are there some lines of codes that can execute this task?
