  • Apache/Jboss Issue - is this connection timeout?

    We have an application. The architecture is as below 1 load balancer (apache), which redirects to 2 app servers (jboss). The site is working fine and I am able to access it fine. But sometimes, randomly the homepage takes a while (like 30-40 secs) to load. I tried checking the logs but could not figure out why. I used the httptraffic analyzer, fiddler to see the traffic, but it just says the request/response took 30 secs or so. I checked the apache access logs, mod_jk.log.   • Error upgrading Ubuntu server from Intrepid to Jaunty

    I'm trying to upgrade an old ubuntu server from 8.10 (Intrepid) to 9.04 (Jaunty). But it fails. root@server1:/# do-release-upgrade Checking for a new ubuntu release Failed Upgrade tool signature Failed Upgrade tool Done downloading extracting 'jaunty.tar.gz' Failed to extract Extracting the upgrade failed. There may be a problem with the network or with the server. Does anyone have an idea why I get this error and how to fix it? UPDATE: I think i might have tracked the problem down.     Dreamweaver CS5 with Dreamweaver HTML5 Pack 1.2.7 Windows 7 x64 When I go to create a new document and select the HTML5 DocType, Dreamweaver gives me the legacy encoding/character set declaration: <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> I want to replace it with the new, abbreviated style: <meta charset="utf-8"> The relevant file seems to be %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS5\configuration\DocumentTypes\NewDocuments\Default.html, which has a blank charset, that is then apparently replaced with the appropriate character set dynamically: <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset="> I changed it, but then new documents show up like this: <meta charset=""> <title>Untitled Document</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> It seems Dreamweaver added the legacy declaration back in after my modification—and as far as I can tell, there's no way to specify that the charset definition should go in-between the quotes, either. Additionally, any modifications to Default.html apply to every DocType, whereas I only want this change to apply to the HTML5 DocType. Is there anything in the configuration files that would allow me to make any of these customizations? If not, is there an extension that does it?

  • Is there some way Linux editors can tell the programming language without the file extension?

    I am editing some scripts on Linux without the languages file extensions, and it seems that the editors, namely vi, nano and gedit are not applying syntax highlighting because the filenames don't use the language extensions. Is there some parameters to be passed or some setting that can enable them to recognize the language? Update: After some googling I realize that bash has that ability, at least to do some parsing or check the shebang at the top determine the language. By default Ubuntu does not install the complete vim package, so after installing it, the shell files are recognized. I don't know about nano or gedit, but vi and its graphical counterpart will do.

    I've always wondered why the companies who make BIOS' either have terrible engineering psychologists or none at all. But without wasting your time further with random speculative questions, my real question is as follows: Why does my new computer run slower than my old computer? Old Computer: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU @ 3.0 Ghz (stock) 4GB OCZ DDR2 800 RAM Wolfdale E8400 mb nVidia GeForce 8600 GT New Computer: Intel Core i7 920 @ ~3.2 Ghz 6 GB OCZ DDR3 1066 RAM EVGA x58 SLI LE motherboard nVidia GeForce GTX 275 Vista x64 Home Premium on both. "Run slower" is defined as: - poorer FPS performance in the same games, applications - takes longer to start up - general desktop usage (checking email, opening up files, running exe's) is noticeably slower At first I thought I must've not set something up in the BIOS or something. But I have no idea how to set anything in the bios except for "Dummy O.C.", which brought me to ~3.2 Ghz. But beyond that I have no idea. I've been reading stuff about "ram timing" and voltages and the like but I really have no idea about that stuff. I'm a psychologist who has a basic understanding in building his own computers, not a computer scientist. Can someone give me some wisdom that might guide me to the reason my new computer is worse than my older one? I'm sorry if this is a bad question, or not appropriate to SO.   • Google Chrome Frame and Facebook Javascript SDK - Cannot login

    On the example below i have an html page with the javascript code needed to login to facebook. On the i have the Google Chrome Frame meta tag that makes the page run with google chrome frame. If you open this page with any browser the finish() callback runs normally. If you open it with Google Chrome Frame it never fires. So this means that every Facebook App that tries to login to gather user data cannot login. This happens if the page is opened with google frame. But even if i remove the meta tag so that the page can open with IE8 the page opens again with google chrome frame because Facebook opens google chrome frame by default. So because this is a Facebook app that runs inside an inside facebook.com it is forced to open with Google Chrome Frame! SERIOUS BUG! That is fine. But when i call recv(), i suddently becomes 0. Why is that? It doesn't make sense to me why recv() would take an socket file descriptor number and modify to another number. So far the most... er..."elegant" solution I've come up with is to replace the <li> with an asp:Literal and dump the <li...>' text. But that just feels... so wrong. And no, I'm not using ASP.NET 4.0, which I've read will provide this functionality.

  • Django facebook integration error

I've got everything up and running and there are no issues when I run my site using the command line python manage.py runserver But this same code refuses to run when I try and run it through Apache.   • Is it possible to do AJAX calls in a liquid template?

    I'm looking at the liquid templating language for Rails apps: http://wiki.github.com/tobi/liquid/ I'd like my users to also be able to make AJAX calls (just like the ones in rails for periodically_call_remote, observe_field, etc). Is this possible? Assuming the rails helpers can be added as filters, how will the user be able to modify what gets returned by the AJAX call? They cannot modify an rjs file on the server or anything like that. I suppose the AJAX call could return JSON (instead of rendered html) and then the javascript could use that to render something. But I'm having a little trouble envisioning how it would work exactly. If anyone can point me to an example of this or clarify it'd be much appreciated. Thanks!

    I validated my client's website to xHTML Strict 1.0/CSS 2.1 standards last week. Today when I re-checked, I had a validation error caused by a weird and previous unknown script. I found this in the index.php file of my ExpressionEngine CMS. What is this javascript doing? Is this a hacking attempt as I suspected?   • How can I refactor this to use an inline function or template instead of a macro?

    Hello, everyone :) I have a useful macro here: #define PATH_PREFIX_RESOLVE(path, prefix, environment) \ if (boost::algorithm::istarts_with(path, prefix)) { \ ExpandEnvironmentStringsW(environment, buffer, MAX_PATH); \ path.replace(0, (sizeof(prefix)/sizeof(wchar_t)) - 1, buffer); \ if (Exists(path)) return path; \ } It's used about 6 times within the scope of a single function (that's it), but macros seem to have "bad karma" :P Anyway, the problem here is the sizeof(prefix) part of the macro. If I just replace this with a function taking a const wchar_t[], then the sizeof() will fail to deliver expected results. Simply adding a size member doesn't really solve the problem either. Making the user supply the size of the constant literal also results in a mess of duplicated constants at the call site. Any ideas on this one?

    The name is a little blurry, so here's the situation: I'm writing code to use some 'trajectories'. The trajectories are an abstract thing, so I describe them with different interfaces.   • is there a way to create an item template (t4) installer like the POCO generator?

    Subject says it all. I want to modify the POCO generation adapter (http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/EFPocoAdapter) to generate my own code. I have the .tt adapters done, but I want to be able to distribute this to coworkers, so they right-click on the model, choose "Generate Code", and my t4 templates appear in the options along with the other choices. Is there an easy way to do this? I found some articles at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/tsyyf0yh(VS.80).aspx but it was focused on generic templates, and I'm looking for specifically model templates.

  • MOSS: Creating site templates from publishing sites

    Hi, On my MOSS site I am trying to save a publishing site as a site template. Then create subsites from this template. I am able to sucessfully create the site template and it is populated in the site template gallery. Following these instructions.. http://blah.winsmarts.com/2007-7-All_you_ever_wanted_to_know_about_SharePoint_2007_Site_Templates.aspx But when I try and create a subsite from this template, an error message is displayed stating: The template you have chosen is invalid or cannot be found. at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequestInternalClass.ApplyWebTemplate(String bstrUrl, String& bstrWebTemplate, Int32& plWebTemplateId) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequest.ApplyWebTemplate(String bstrUrl, String& bstrWebTemplate, Int32& plWebTemplateId) Any help would be very appreciated, Thanks Nav
