  I'm getting this error with IIS 6.0 (i assume), and PHP 5.2.3, and FastCGI FastCGI Error The FastCGI Handler was unable to process the request. Error Details: Error Number: 5 (0x80070005). Error Description: Access is denied. HTTP Error 500 - Server Error. Internet Information Services (IIS) Any ideas, nothing revealings in logs (other than 500 errors), this is pretty much all of I have to work with. The script has read and execute privileged for the internet guest account; and, I've added read/execute privileges to the whole D:\PHP. I followed this tutorial http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/247/using-fastcgi-to-host-php-applications-on-iis-60/ to set it up. The only major diversion is I installed PHP to D:\PHP

• Why can't I access my website with domain? It works with IP address only

  In the past we didn't have a proper domain name for our site, now I have registered a proper domain name, but now I experiance the following problem: If I go to https://46.144.46.214/ita I can access the portal without any problem; If I go to https://ita.telvent-netherlands.com/ita I receive a time-out in Internet Explorer. But if I go to https://ita.telvent-netherlands.com/ I see that I reach the IIS server so the DNS is working. Do you know how it is possible that I can reach it by IP and not by name? I need to reach it by domain. Thank you in advance.

  So I was asked to set up an Exchange Activesync mobile gateway. That's done. It's a separat eExchange 2003 front-end server configured for SSL, and I've put an off-domain ISA server in front of it. Now I'm being asked to limit which users can connect to it. By default an Exchange front-end server allows any user who has a mail account to connect to the front -end server. So I'm looking at the permissions on the various IIS sites/apps on the server, but I know that it's easy to break Exchange Front-end server perms. So I've got the following in IIS: Exadmin Exchange EchWeb Microsoft-SErver-ActiveSync MobileAdmin OMA And a couple of others that I dont think are relevant. Can I change the permissions on one of these to restrict who can connect to Activesync? As a bonus: Can I do it in a way that does not affect ordinary browser based Exchange Access? There doesn't seem to be a way to create a guest ftp user through this control panel and I was told it must be created through SSH. I have a program called Putty which can log into the server via SSH.   How does one configure an Ubuntu guest to use a static IP that's visible to an OS X host, and ensure that the static IP is independent of the host's network configuration? I previously used bridged networking for my guest, but I'm constantly moving my host between networks so the guest IP is always different.   So the machine is behind a DSL router on a private IP so that it can not receive inbound requests. I want to know: Is there anyway to setup the router NAT (i highly doubt it supports one to one port mapping) without disturbing other users on the same router. I have another machine on internet which has public IP on it without any firewall. Can i use this machine as a relay server so that to initiate the connection, the XP machine send an outbound request and this relay server makes my connection through and then i can access my machine on pvt ip without any problem.   I just installed Ubuntu 10.04 using Wubi on a PC that has Windows XP and Windows 7 installed. I was working in it for a while and everything is just fine. However, when I booted back into Windows 7, I couldn't figure out a way to access the files I had created or downloaded into the Ubuntu partition. They're in a virtual disk called root.disk in my C:\ubuntu\disks. Is there a way I can mount this vhd into Windows or at least browse the contents and extract what I need?

• Best practice for ONLY allowing MySQL access to a server?

  Here's the use case: I have a SaaS system that was built (dev environment) on a single box. I've moved everything to a cloud environment running Ubuntu 10.10. One server runs the application, the other runs the database. The basic idea is that the server that runs the database should only be accessible by the application and the administrator's machine, who both have correct RSA keys. My question: Would it be better practice to use a firewall to block access to ALL ports except MySQL, or skip firewall / iptables and just disable all other services / ports completely? Furthermore, should I run MySQL on a non-standard port? This database will hold quite sensitive information and I want to make sure I'm doing everything possible to properly safeguard it. • TF2010 Build Definition and Access to Path is Denied error?

  I am new to TFS with regards to build definitions. I have a a build folder setup where I have set the permissons so EVERYONE has full control. Here is the exact error I am getting: E:\Builds\PIMSite\PIM.Site\PIM_Site.metaproj: Unable to copy file "C:\Builds\1\PIM System\PIM Site Build\Binaries\HtmlAgilityPack.xml" to "..\PIM.Site\Bin\HtmlAgilityPack.xml". Access to the path '..\PIM.Site\Bin\HtmlAgilityPack.xml' is denied. I have tried everyhitng. I have removed everything from that folder adn can delete it just fine so it is not being used by another process. Any thoughts?

I've got an second wireless network, (lets call it Wireless2), which I want to limit access to only the admin user of the laptop. Now I can remove Wireless2 in the network manager every time, but i want a more user friendly solution, so that only the admin can connect to Wireless2, and all the other users cannot ( they may see the network, but must enter the password, like all other networks ). Any ideas?

  Lets say I have a router that is connected to the Internet. An WAN IP address is given by ISP. It is using PPPoE ADSL, the IP address is not static, every time it connected, assigned a different IP address. There is an web server 192.168.0.100 running in the LAN. I heard something like DMZ + DynDNS can do the job? But not sure what these are and how they work. Any there way(s) to access the local node 192.168.0.100 via WAN, so that I can reach that node even I am not home. Thanks for any advice.

  I'm trying to switch from Firefox to Chrome, so trying to get up to speed with the interface. I have installed some Chrome extensions such as World Clock. To access it I have to: click wrench click tools click extensions on world clock, click "options" click save" and then I can use it. What am I missing here, there must be an easier way. Is there a way to just click something and have all my extensions in a dropdown, i.e. in one click? I couldn't find this on a list of chrome hotkeys.

• File permission set to 644 and wordpress cannot access them?

  Hi everyone, I'm having problems with WordPress not be able to access files. When installing certain themes and plugins, it comes up with an error saying that it cannot create the directory. When I try to edit style.css it says that I need to make that file writable. The file permissions were set to 644. It wouldn't work until I changed the settings to 777 or 776. WordPress was installed by our local ISP. Anyone got any ideas? It seems that WordPress has not been setup properly. Is there anyway I can fix this without reinstalling the whole thing? Thanks, Joel

• I believe I need a wireless access point, but can I do it with a wifi router?

  My needs are simple, I think: I have a laptop upstairs with a usb wifi that I use to connect to my neighbor's wifi which I share (with their knowledge). I have a laser printer downstairs that my wife doesn't wants to stay down there (big, bulky and ugly), but that we both need to print stuff off. It has wired networking and I have wired hub and router down there. The usb wifi on the laptop has absolutley the best reception I've ever seen or heard of. I cannot get onto the neighbor's net with the thing downstairs though--sortof in the ground. What do I need downstairs to give printer access to my laptop wirelessly? One thing I can't do in this solution is have a computer on downstairs, so I would think that would eliminate a usb solution.

For example, in an upload script I would have to set the destination directory to 'read & write' for the group 'everyone'. However, I believe this is not the best practice and would like all of my directories to be readily writable to PHP. My scripts are stored in /Library/WebServer/Documents/, which is Mac OS X's default directory to serve web pages locally.

• In VirtualBox, how can I access host localhost from guest (Visual Studio Dev Server from IE7 testing VM)?

  Host OS is Win7 running MyApp in the Visual Studio Development Server, bound to localhost:51227, VM is VirtualBox configured with NAT. Guest OS is Win XP with IE7 installed. My goal is to debug MyApp (running on host) from within IE7 (running on guest). Visual Studio Development server only binds to the loopback network device (i.e. localhost). It does not bind to the external IP address of my host. I've tried access 10.0.2.2:51227 from IE7 on the guest (and confirmed that 10.0.2.2 is the gateway address using ipconfig), but it appears that 10.0.2.2 binds to the external IP of the Host, NOT the loopback IP (localhost), so this does not work. Any suggestions?

• Can a consumer wireless router act as both a wireless client and access point?

  I'm going to be moving in the future, and integrating my home network into that of my landlord. I wish to maintain an isolated network while using his internet connection, so I'm planning on cascading my router off of his (WAN-to-LAN type configuration). Unfortunately, it looks like it might not be feasible to run a wire between the two. Therefore, I'd like to send my WAN connection over WiFi to his router. At my disposal, I have a WRT54GL (running Shibby's Tomato mod), and I just bought an Asus RT-N66U (I can be flexible with the firmware). My first thought was to set up the WRT as a wireless bridge, then run a wire between that and the N66U's WAN port. I'm reasonably sure I could make that work, but can I eliminate the WRT from the equation altogether? Can the N66U connect to the landlord's WiFi as a client, effectively using that as the WAN port, while simultaneously providing wireless access to my devices on an altogether different WLAN?

• Ubuntu: On a network with many clients there are two machines that can't access the web via a browser at the same time

  Ok I'm pulling my hair out over this one. We have a wireless network with many clients all working well except two Ubuntu clients running 10.10 that can't access the internet via a browser at the same time. They can both still ping, use Skype etc but can't browse. As soon as the one that can browse exits the network browsing returns for the other and vice versa. As ping and Skype was working I assumed some kind of DNS problem but moving over to OpenDNS didn't solve it, nor did restarting networking or using wired rather than wireless. We also switched out the router, and it still persisted so I'm sure this isn't a network issue. The two clients are both laptops and work fine together on a wireless network at another office (which we don't control). I'm thinking something must be cached from the other network they both use that's causing this but have no idea what. Does anyone have any ideas? I just don't know where to go from here.

  I have a VPS running Ubuntu 10.04, and I'd like to give someone SFTP access to a single directory, but prevent them from seeing anything else on the system. What's the best way to pull this off? I considered removing "everyone" permissions from everything on the system, but that seems like a really blunt tool for this problem (and one that'll cause other issues) - I'm hoping there's a better option here. • "bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off” error when running shellcode"

  I'm writing shellcode to exploit a buffer overflow vulnerability on a server. To do so I have port binding shellcode that I send to the server and then I run (from a linux terminal) the command telnet serverAdress 4444 where 4444 is the port which I have opened up. The hope is that I will receive a shell back that I can use to execute commands. However, I always end up with the command bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off I can't change any of the server code, and I believe the shellcode is correct because I got it from this website (http://www.tsirogiannis.com/exploits-vulnerabilities-videos-papers-shellcode/linuxx86-port-binding-shellcode-xor-encoded-152-bytes/). From my research, it appears that this may have to do with the mode that my terminal is running in (something called interactive mode...or something like that). All computers involved are linux machines and the machine that I am on is running the latest version of Ubuntu. Any ideas what this job control error means and how I can fix it?

• How to restrict deletion of a folder on NTFS share, but still allow modify access within folder

  I am setting up a set of scan folders from a scanning copier device, and would like to know the best way to protect the folders (for each department) from moving or deletion, but yet still allow access for the users to modify (i.e. create/add/delete) the scanned files within the folder. Structure is: Share Name Departmental Folder User files The writing of the files initially is taken care of by a service account which has full control. We'd just like to ensure the users cannot accidentally delete the folder (which has already happened) containing all the files, etc. This is for a Windows 2003 server, NTFS permissions. Suggestions would be most appreciated.
