• Can't run the ActionBarCompat sample

  I am having trouble compiling and running the ActionBarCompat sample of Android 16. I have API level 16 as the build target selected, which seems to build fine, but when I try to debug these errors pop up. Of course I could change the min API level in the manifest, but what would be the point of that? I have made no changes to the sample, so how come it is not working properly?   I am currently using a webview to load a webpage which contains lots of javascript and having lots of trouble debugging what exactly gets loaded and when in the webview . Then I saw this post where the op seems to be using apache log to monitor webpage load events in his webview. Enhance webView performance (should be the same performance as native Web Browser) Can I get a similar utility plugin or anything so that I can use it with logcat in ddms view. If possible please provide some resource as to how to configure it for android.

• Scraping ASP.NET site with Ruby

  I would like to scrape the search results of this ASP.NET site using Ruby and preferably just using Hpricot (I cannot open an instance of Firefox): http://www.ngosinfo.gov.pk/SearchResults.aspx?name=&foa=0 However, I am having trouble figuring out how to go through each page of results. Basically, I need simulate clicking on links like these: <a href="javascript:__doPostBack('ctl00$ContentPlaceHolder1$Pager1$2','')" class="blue_11" id="ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_Pager1">2</a> <a href="javascript:__doPostBack('ctl00$ContentPlaceHolder1$Pager1$3','')" class="blue_11" id="ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_Pager1">3</a> etc. I tried using Net::HTTP to handle the post, but while that received the correct HTML, there were no search results (I'm probably not doing that correctly). In addition, the URL of the page does not contain any parameters indicating page, so it is not possible to force the results that way. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The script is iterating through a list trying to calc a running total of the values of all objects in the list. Some or all of these objects' values may be null. • In Ruby on Rails Routing I Would Like to Use Dash `-` Instead of Underscore `_`

  I would like all the URLs for my web applications to use dash - instead of underscore _ for word separators. I'm surprised about a couple of things really: Google et al. continue to distinguish them. That RoR doesn't have a simple global configuration parameter to map - to _ in the routing. Or does it? I found a few questions here and elsewhere, but the best solution I've seen is to use :as or a named route. That's quite annoying. So I'm thinking of modifying the Rails routing to check for that global config and change - to _ before dispatching to a controller action. But before I do that, I'm hoping someone can save me the trouble! Thanks in advance for any help, or even confirmation that my approach makes sense. I'd submit it back. BTW, I'm currently on 2.3.8, but hope to migrate to 3 soon.

• SharePoint - Auto-increment dates in new records?

  Hello, I have a list that's going to be updated with relatively static data weekly, and I wanted to create a workflow to do this automatically. The only field I'm having trouble with is Start Date. I want the new Start Date to be exactly one week after the previous week's (row's) Start Date, but I can't figure out how to capture this. I can't seem to find an easy way to get the value of the previous row. Now, theoretically, I could just have the workflow run once a week on a given day and use [Today] as the value for the field; however, a requirement is that the list can be populated a few weeks in advance if needed. • Beginning android: how to map a string to a list

  I just finished the NotepadV1-3 tutorial for Android apps, and I was thinking of creating my own inventory app for fun, which for now basically consists of a list of names (such as "DVD" or "Grocery"), each of which can be clicked, which will bring up another specific list associated with that name. However, with the SQLiteDatabase.insert(..) method, the ContentValue can only take (among many others) "String, String" as argument, and I can't figure out how to input into the database a list of Strings associated with a particular key. I'm having trouble researching on how to resolve this as I am not that familiar with SQL. What would be the best way to store a key with its associated list of Strings? Any pointers and suggestions are appreciated! Android newb :[

• Creating a view linking three different node types with two node references

  I have the following content types: Camp - the top level type Registration Information - contains node reference to Camp called Camp Medical Release Form - contains node reference to registration information called Camper I would like to create a View that takes the nid for the Camp, and pulls out all the fields for the Registration Info and Medical Release Form. I'm having trouble figuring out how to set up the various arguments/relationships. I haven't done something that's referenced more than two types. I know it would be smart/best to just combine the Registration Info and Medical Release Form, since it's a 1:1 mapping, but we can't. So... any help would be appreciated!

• JQuery - which form was submitted?

  Hello, I have a page of products and for each of them, I want to have a form that uses AJAX to update the session. I've done this bit - just providing background. I use the product's ID to create a different form class and name for each form, so each form is called something like this_form_name_567 and the next would be this_form_name_568 and so on. There is a submit button per form. I'm having trouble figuring out a) which event is best to use so that the correct form will be identified when a submit button is clicked, b) once clicked, how to then make sure the correct value is taken from a hidden field (unique ID) within the submitted form so that I can populate a line of code such as: $.post("compare_response.php", {compare_this: $("#compare_this").val()}, function(data){ } Any help would be greatly appreciated.   I'm having trouble getting Hibernate to perform a bulk insert on MySQL. I'm using Hibernate 3.3 and MySQL 5.1 At a high level, this is what's happening: @Transactional public Set<Long> doUpdate(Project project, IRepository externalSource) { List<IEntity> entities = externalSource.loadEntites(); buildEntities(entities, project); persistEntities(project); } public void persistEntities(Project project) { projectDAO.update(project); } This results in n log entries (1 for every row) as follows: Hibernate: insert into ProjectEntity (name, parent_id, path, project_id, state, type) values (?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?) I'd like to see this get batched, so the update is more performant. It's possible that this routine could result in tens-of-thousands of rows generated, and a db trip per row is a killer. Why isn't this getting batched? (It's my understanding that batch inserts are supposed to be default where appropriate by hibernate).

• Drupal Navigation Conundrum

  I'm attempting to set up navigation withing a Drupal site and am having a bit of trouble. I'm trying to have a series of pages that each have a set number of sub-pages. These pages will need to link to one another. All pages will contain similar content. For instance: Page 1 will have sub-pages a, b, c, d, e, and f all with content related to the topic of page 1 Page 2 will have sub-pages a, b, c, d, e, and f with content related to the topic of page 2 I'd like these links to appear in a horizontal nav bar on each page. Is it possible to accomplish this using the book module? I've also read some information about the taxonomy menu module that sounds promising, but I'm not really sure how that would work. What route should I look into? Thanks for any input!

  I'm buiding an HTML/jQuery site where almost all the content comes from remote JSON data. I'm having trouble coming up with a good way to store and access the data in the future (scope-wise). Currently, I've written a jQuery plugin that gets the JSONP data when the site loads. But I have other functions and jQuery plugins that need to access this data. Where should this data be stored so other functions and plugins can access it? Should it be a global variable? If it matters, this site will only run on the iPad and the back-end of the site is in Rails.

• First iPhone App View Position Problem

  I am closely following the instructions given in the tutorial "Your First iPhone Application" on apple ADC. In the interface builder, I have set up a button positioned on the top according to the Apple Interface Guidelines. It runs without trouble if I simulate the interface in IB. However, if I run the built app, I get what is shown here. If you look at the view clearly, you will see that the entire view has been shifted up. And the magnitude of the shift is exactly the height of the status bar. And that's why the there is blank space at the bottom of the window, which was white instead of red. I have tried turning on the "Simulated Interface Elements", but that doesn't work either. The problem persists on real devices as well. However, using the "Simulate Interface" from IB looks fine. • how to convert numbers to alpha numeric system with php

  Im not sure what this is called, which is why im having trouble searching for it. What im looking to do, is take numbers, and convert them to some alpha numeric base so that the number say 5000, wouldnt read 5000, but like G4u or something like that. The idea being to save space and also not make it obvious how many records there are in a given system. Im using php, so if there is something like this built into php even better, but even a name for this method would be helpful at this point Again, sorry for not being able to be more clear, im just not sure what this is called.

  is there a way to run gwt on a proxy loaded web page ? ex) using proxy script on myexamplesite.com that loads finance.google.com, and running GWT on the newly loaded page. I've been doing the above before I found about GWT, using LAMP stack + Jquery (UI), which quickly turned out to be crap and inefficient. All this trouble to bypass browser's default Single Origin Policy. So, right now, is it possible to overcome this problem with GWT ? Is it possible to some how, run javascript on a html page from finance.google.com loaded into myexamplesite.com's frame with GWT or other solution? I am not looking to do JSON or RSS related topics. What I need is high lighted in bold. Is GWT + Gears what I should be using ? Thank you.

• Using Django view variables inside templates

  Hi, this is a rather basic question (I'm new to Django) but I'm having trouble using a variable set in my view inside my template. If I initialize a string or list inside my view (i.e. h = "hello") and then attempt to call it inside a template: {{ h }} there is neither output nor errors. Similarly, if I try to use a variable inside my template that doesn't exist: {{ asdfdsadf }} there is again no error reported. Is this normal? And how can I use my variables within my templates. The combination of it's size, complexity and a windows environment is making it needlessly complex to deploy. I am thinking about getting an old mac mini and using it just for rails development.   Hello All. I am having trouble accessing a declared property and I think I am missing something fundamental about the nature of properties and perhaps view controllers. Here's what I'm doing so far: declaring a property "myPhone" in a root view controller called RootViewController. grabbing a phone number from a modally presented people picker setting "myPhone" to the value from the people picker (from within shouldContinueAfterSelectingPerson of ABPeoplePickerNavigationController) trying to access "myPhone" from another modally presented view controller "myPhone" continues to NSLog to null despite trying every permutation of self.myPhone, super, RootViewController, etc. to try and access the value I set. What am I missing?

• Why is this postgresql query so slow?

  I'm no database expert, but I have enough knowledge to get myself into trouble, as is the case here. This query SELECT DISTINCT p.* FROM points p, areas a, contacts c WHERE ( p.latitude > 43.6511659465 AND p.latitude < 43.6711659465 AND p.longitude > -79.4677941889 AND p.longitude < -79.4477941889) AND p.resource_type = 'Contact' AND c.user_id = 6 is extremely slow. The points table has fewer than 2000 records, but it takes about 8 seconds to execute. There are indexes on the latitude and longitude columns. Removing the clause concering the resource_type and user_id make no difference. The latitude and longitude fields are both formatted as number(15,10) -- I need the precision for some calculations. There are many, many other queries in this project where points are compared, but no execution time problems. What's going on?

• How to replicate this screenshot in WebForms?

  I need to replicate the following in ASP.NET WebForms using a GridView. But I am not sure where to start. Basically I need 3 columns. The checkbox (which sometimes needs to be disabled), and 2 standard text columns. I've gone through the tutorial and I can see how to basically dump text data into a GridView, but not clear on how to implement checkboxes, particularly ones that needs to be disabled once in a while. And I have to replicate the style of the screenshot (e.g. border on the bottom). Having trouble with that as well. How do I swing something like that?
