• Looking for a short book on C# 2010 for experienced programmers

  Hi I'm an experienced programmer (C++, Java, Python, C, Objective-C, and others) and need to take a crash course in C# for my current job. I've never done any C# programming before though have read a bit about the syntax etc, I'm looking for a guide that quickly introduces advanced topics so I can get a handle on the language and begin hacking ASAP. • Cairo-dock only shows one workspace after upgrade to 14.04 LTS

  I have a Linux desktop that I try to keep up to date, although I don't use it a lot. I had it configured with cairo-dock, showing 2x2 workspaces. It's been like this for quite a while. I recently upgraded to 14.04 LTS, and now the switcher only shows a single workspace. I read several posts that talk about similar problems, but I wasn't able to get a viable clue. What can I look at to get some clues?

  Microsoft has released recently free eBooks on various Microsoft Technology. The best part is that all these books are available in ePub, Mobi and PDF. You can download them to your local machine or eBook reader and read them. This is a great start as many important subjects are now covered and converted into an eBook. I personally read through a few of the books and found they are very comprehensive and and detailed. The goal is not to cover complete technology in a single book but rather pick a single topic and discuss it in detail. The source of the book is white paper, Technet wiki as well book online and it is clearly listed right bellow the book title. I have previously written two books by focusing on the same subject and I had great pleasure writing it as well. Writing on focus subjects gives complete freedom to author to explore the a single subject without having burden to cover everything which is associated with that technology at large. Just like eBooks mentioned earlier my SQL Server Wait Stats was inspired from my article series on SQL Wait Stats. The latest book SQL Server Interview Question and Answers was derived from my article series on SQL Interview Q and A. Writing book is an absolutely different concept than writing blog posts. When I was converting my blog posts to books, I ended up writing 50% new material and end up removing many repetitive content which shows up in blog series. It was indeed fun to focused book at the same time it was a great learning experience as an individual. • Why do this PDF's fonts appear unreadable on my machine?

  I'm trying to read The Art of Assembly Language as per this answer on Stack Overflow. When I open it on my Ubuntu 12.04 box, it looks like this: I haven't tested it on another machine, but this can't be intentional. What is going on, and how can I fix it? Edit: The above screenshot is from Chrome. It look like this in Evince: Still squished and hardly readable, but better. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

• Can I add myself to group `root'?

     Peopleware by Tom DeMarco and Timothy Lister is golden classic book that can be considered as mandatory reading for software project managers, team leads, higher level management and board members of software companies. If you make decisions about people then you cannot miss this book. If you are already good on managing developers then this book can make you even better – you will learn new stuff about successful development teams for sure. Why peopleware? Peopleware gives you very good hints about how to build up working environment for project teams where people can really do their work. Book also covers team building topics that are also important reading. As software developer I found practically all points in this book to be accurate and valid. Many times I have found my self thinking about same things and Peopleware made me more confident about my opinions. Peopleware covers also time management and planning topics that help you do way better job on using developers time effectively by minimizing the amount of interruptions by phone calls, pointless meetings and i-want-to-know-what-are-you-doing-right-now questions by managers who doesn’t write code anyway. I think if you follow suggestions given by Peopleware your developers are very happy. I suggest you to also read another great book – Death March by Edward Yourdon. • Ralink-based USB Wi-Fi adapter drops connection after some time

  I have an Intellinet Wireless 150N USB adapter (based on a Ralink rt3070 chip) in an Ubuntu 10.10 installation. The problem is, that it's dropping the connection after being connected to a wireless network for 10 - 20 minutes. I have to unplug it and plug it in again every time this happens. I read somewhere, that I need to blacklist some chipset modules, but I don't how? And which ralink modules I have to blacklist? Thanks for your answers! :D

  I have heard/read writing common pre-conditions for a large number of test cases is a bad thing, since this dependency may cause large number of test cases to fail if something changes .
