  While attempting to move from a 'C' based SSL implementation to C# using the .NET SslStream and we have run into what look like cipher compatibility issues with the .NET SslStream and a AS400 machine we are trying to connect to (which worked previously).   I have a stubborn communications issue with an application running on the .NET Compact Framework 3.5 on Windows Mobile smartphones. I am constructing a web request using this code: UTF8Encoding encoding = new System.Text.UTF8Encoding(); byte[] Data = encoding.GetBytes(HttpUtility.ConstructQueryString(parameters)); httpRequest = WebRequest.Create((domain)) as HttpWebRequest; httpRequest.Timeout = 10000000; httpRequest.ReadWriteTimeout = 10000000; httpRequest.Credentials = CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials; httpRequest.Method = "POST"; httpRequest.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"; httpRequest.ContentLength = Data.Length; Stream SendReq = httpRequest.GetRequestStream(); SendReq.Write(Data, 0, Data.Length); SendReq.Close(); HttpWebResponse httpResponse = (HttpWebResponse)httpRequest.GetResponse(); return httpResponse.GetResponseStream(); The web service functions by receiving a JSON-encoded document as part of the URL (eg. https://site.com/ws/sync??document={"version":"1.0.0","items":[{"item_1":"item1"}]}&user=usr&password=pw), and as a response receives another JSON document as response data. This code runs fine on all emulators and PDAs running WM 5 and 6. We have seen an issue with a couple of customers running Treo smartphones (and only on the Sprint network). We have tested the code on an identical device on the AT&T network (via DeviceAnywhere) and once again the code worked as we expected. This has to be some sort of security policy on the phone, but we've been unable to determine a workaround or diagnose it thoroughly as we cannot reproduce it in house and have had to resort to getting users to assist with running test drivers for us. When this code executes, the user's device throws the following exception: System.Net.WebException Could not establish secure channel for SSL/TLS Stack trace: at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.finishGetRequestStream() at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetRequestStream() at OurApp.GetResponseStream(String domain, Hashtable parameters) inner exception: System.IO.IOException Authentication failed because the remote party has closed the transport stream. Stack trace: at System.Net.SslConnectionState.ClientSideHandshake() at System.Net.SslConnectionState.PerformClientHandShake() at System.Net.Connection.connect(Object ignored) at System.Threading.ThreadPool.WorkItem.doWork(Object o) at System.Threading.Timer.ring() Examining the server Apache logs shows no hits from the user's IP - I don't think the device is even attempting to send a packet before failing. If relevant, the server is running Apache on Linux and is written using the TurboGears Python framework. The server certificate is issued by a CA and is still valid. The test driver where this error was copied from was not code signed, however the same error (without the error messages) is signed with a GeoTrust certificate so we don't believe this is a code signing issue. The application installs and launches without issue on all phones - it's just establishing this SSL connection that is breaking for these users. One significant issue in troubleshooting is that there is a substantial inconvenience each time we try out a solution (need to find a "volunteer" customer), so we're really looking for a silver bullet or a better understanding of the handshaking process so we can be reasonably confident we only need to ask the user to test it one or two more times. One final mention: we have tried the sync both over ActiveSync and also over GPRS with identical results. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

• How to play audio in Java Application

  I'm making a java application and I need to play audio. I'm playing mainly small sound files of my cannon firing (its a cannon shooting game) and the projectiles exploding, though I plan on having looping background music. I have found two different methods to accomplish this, but both don't work how I want. • Difficulty creating classes and arrays of those classes C#

  I'm trying to implement a Discrete Fourier Transformation algorithm for a project I'm doing in school. But creating a class is seeming to be difficult(which it shouldn't be). I'm using Visual Studio 2012. Basically I need a class called Complex to store the two values I get from a DFT; The real portion and the imaginary portion. It recognizes my constructor as a method. Why is that? Am I creating the class wrong? It's doing the same thing for my Fourier class as well. So each time I try to create a Fourier object and then use it's method...there is no such thing. example, I do this: Fourier fou = new Fourier(); fou.DFT(s, N, amp, 0); and it tells me fou is a 'field' but is used like a 'type' why is it saying that? • Java curious Loop Performance

  I have a big problem while evaluate my java code. To simplify the problem I wrote the following code which produce the same curious behavior. Important is the method run() and given double value rate. For my runtime test (in the main method) I set the rate to 0.5 one times and 1.0 the other time. With the value 1.0 the if-statement will be executed in each loop iteration and with the value 0.5 the if-statement will be executed half as much. For this reason I expected longer runtime by the first case but opposite is true. Can anybody explain me this phenomenon??   I have a .net visual studio solution with a number of projects (class libraries and a web application). I did some refractoring which moved files between projects, created new projects, deleted ones not being used and renamed some existing projects. The solution builds without an issue but when I run the web application, the following exception occurs: "Could not load file or assembly 'XXX.YYY' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified." The project called XXX.YYY which was deleted in the refractoring outputed a dll called XXX.YYY. But this isnt used anywhere in the application. I deleted the web applications obj directory and bin folder and rebuild but it still occurs. Anyone have any ideas when this might be occurring, any tips??

  I have a custom panel control that I'm trying to dynamically add controls within. When I run the application the static and dynamically added controls show up perfectly, but the dynamic controls do not appear within the visual studio designer. Only the controls placed declaratively in the XAML appear. I'm currently adding the dynamic control in the CreateUIElementCollection override, but I've also tried this in the constructor without success. • How to access WCF RIA service from Windows Service?

  I have a functioning SL4 application; inside the ClientBin directory I have an .svc file that describes my service: <% @ServiceHost Service="MyApp.Services.MyServiceFactory="System.ServiceModel.DomainServices.Hosting.DomainServiceHostFactory" %> When I browse to http://localhost:52878/ClientBin/MyApp-Services-MyService.svc I see the following: "You have created a service. To test this service, you will need to create a client and use it to call the service. You can do this using the svcutil.exe tool from the command line with the following syntax: svcutil.exe http://localhost:52878/ClientBin/MyApp-Services-MyService.svc?wsdl" I want to access that service from a Windows Service application. My understanding is that I need to enable SOAP end-points in order to make this happen. So, I add the following to my web.config file: <domainServices> <endpoints> <add name="soap" type="System.ServiceModel.DomainServices.Hosting.SoapXmlEndpointFactory, System.ServiceModel.DomainServices.Hosting, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" /> </endpoints> </domainServices> Firstly, Intellisense complains about the presence of the tag, saying "The element system.ServiceModel has invalid child element domainServices." Secondly, the aforementioned Silverlight application stops working, presumably because this change breaks the underlying web services. Thirdly, it appears that the System.ServiceModel.DomainServices.Hosting assembly doesn't actually contain the SoapXmlEndpointFactory type; if I try to browse to the service after adding the above to web.config I see: "Could not load type 'System.ServiceModel.DomainServices.Hosting.SoapXmlEndpointFactory' from assembly 'System.ServiceModel.DomainServices.Hosting, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35'." If I inspect the assembly using Reflector, I see that it contains the DomainServiceEndpointFactory and PoxBinaryEndpointFactory types, but no SoapXmlEndpointFactory. Could someone please let me know what I'm doing wrong? I can't believe that it should be this hard to simply consume a WCF RIA service in something other than a Silverlight application!   I created a database with aspnet_regsql, the database was created in sql sever 2008 and not in data folder in my project (do I need to move it to the folder manually?). Next, in Web Site Administration Tool I went to provider section and clicked don Test button. I got an error: Could not establish a connection to the database. If you have not yet created the SQL Server database, exit the Web Site Administration tool, use the aspnet_regsql command-line utility to create and configure the database, and then return to this tool to set the provider. Maybe I need to set something in a web.config, like membership settings or connection strings (or ASP.NET Website Administrator Tool should create those settings for me)? Update: Maybe it happens because I am using SQL server 2008 full and not express? Update 2: After setting membership section and connection string to my aspnetdb database in Web Site Administration Tool I've opened security-Security Setup Wizard-Define Roles (stage 4) I got this error: An error was encountered. • FileNotFoundException when running WiX CustomAction with COMAdmin interop

  I am trying to create a WiX custom action which will allow me to shutdown and clear down a COM+ package as part of an upgrade installation, or create and configure a new COM+ package as part of the initial installation. I previously had this running as a CustomAction within a standard Visual Studio MSI but this only allows the custom action to be executed after the files have been copied - which will fail as the package will still be running. The COMAdmin.dll has been added as a reference to the CustomAction project and is set CopyLocal=true. In the bin folder for the custom action project the Interop.COMAdmin.dll is present. The answer to this question seems to suggest that it should work.   My requirement is downlaoding a HTTM page. Like and I am using WebRequest.Create. I am working in a compmany. Does it due to proxy or anything? But it’s occurring while creation of the URL it self.   Hi there, my goal is to secure the communication between MSMQ Queue Managers – I don’t want unknown clients sending messages to my MSMQ server. I have spent many hours now trying to get Transport security working for the net.msmq binding in WCF, where MSMQ is in Workgroup mode and the client and server do not have Active Directory… so I’m using certificates. I have created a new X.509 certificate, called Kristan and put it into the “Trusted people” store on the server and into the My store of Current User of the client. The error I’m getting is: An error occurred while sending to the queue: Unrecognized error -1072824272 (0xc00e0030).Ensure that MSMQ is installed and running. If you are sending to a local queue, ensure the queue exists with the required access mode and authorization. Using smartsniff, I see that there’s no attempted connection with the remote MSMQ, however, it’s an error probably coming from the local queue manager.   I am writing a small console application in C# that references a custom assembly that implements custom .net Profile provider. I have a local web app that also uses the assembly and custom Profile provider and that work without any problems. I have checked the referenced assembly is being copied to the output directory. • Disable Razors default .cshtml handler in a ASP.NET Web Application

  Does anyone know how to disable the .cshtml extension completely from an ASP.NET Web Application? In essence I want to hijack the .cshtml extension and provide my own implementation based on a RazorEngine host, although when I try to access the page.cshtml directly it appears to be running under an existing WebPages razor host that I'm trying to disable. Note: it looks like its executing .cshtml pages under the System.Web.WebPages.Razor context as the Microsoft.Data Database is initialized. I don't even have any Mvc or WebPages dlls referenced, just System.Web.dll and a local copy of System.Web.Razor with RazorEngine.dll I've created a new ASP.NET Web .NET 4.0 Application and have tried to clear all buildProviders and handlers as seen below: <system.web> <httpModules> <clear/> </httpModules> <compilation debug="true" targetFramework="4.0"> <buildProviders> <clear/> </buildProviders> </compilation> <httpHandlers> <clear/> <add path="*" type="MyHandler" verb="*"/> </httpHandlers> </system.web> <system.webServer> <modules runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests="true"> <clear/> </modules> <handlers> <clear/> <add path="*" name="MyHandler" type="MyHandler" verb="*" preCondition="integratedMode" resourceType="Unspecified" allowPathInfo="true" /> </handlers> </system.webServer> Although even with this, when I visit any page.cshtml page it still bypasses My wildcard handler and tries to execute the page itself.
