  • setsockopt EOPNOTSUPP (Operation not supported)

    - by brant
    When I strace my MySQL process, I keep finding the same error over and over: setsockopt(240, SOL_IP, IP_TOS, [8], 4) = -1 EOPNOTSUPP (Operation not supported) futex(0x87ab944, FUTEX_WAKE_OP_PRIVATE, 1, 1, 0x87ab940, {FUTEX_OP_SET, 0, FUTEX_OP_CMP_GT, 1}) = 1 futex(0x87ab260, FUTEX_WAKE_PRIVATE, 1) = 1 select(13, [10 12], NULL, NULL, NULL) = 1 (in [12]) fcntl64(12, F_SETFL, O_RDWR|O_NONBLOCK) = 0 accept(12, {sa_family=AF_FILE, path="\246\32629iE"...}, [2]) = 803 fcntl64(12, F_SETFL, O_RDWR) = 0 getsockname(803, {sa_family=AF_FILE, path="/var/lib/mysql\1"...}, [28]) = 0 fcntl64(803, F_SETFL, O_RDONLY) = 0 fcntl64(803, F_GETFL) = 0x2 (flags O_RDWR) fcntl64(803, F_SETFL, O_RDWR|O_NONBLOCK) = 0 setsockopt(803, SOL_IP, IP_TOS, [8], 4) = -1 EOPNOTSUPP (Operation not supported) futex(0x87ab944, FUTEX_WAKE_OP_PRIVATE, 1, 1, 0x87ab940, {FUTEX_OP_SET, 0, FUTEX_OP_CMP_GT, 1}) = 1 futex(0x87ab260, FUTEX_WAKE_PRIVATE, 1) = 1 select(13, [10 12], NULL, NULL, NULL) = 1 (in [12]) fcntl64(12, F_SETFL, O_RDWR|O_NONBLOCK) = 0 accept(12, {sa_family=AF_FILE, path="\246\32629iE"...}, [2]) = 240 fcntl64(12, F_SETFL, O_RDWR) = 0 getsockname(240, {sa_family=AF_FILE, path="/var/lib/mysql\1"...}, [28]) = 0 fcntl64(240, F_SETFL, O_RDONLY) = 0 fcntl64(240, F_GETFL) = 0x2 (flags O_RDWR) fcntl64(240, F_SETFL, O_RDWR|O_NONBLOCK) = 0 setsockopt(240, SOL_IP, IP_TOS, [8], 4) = -1 EOPNOTSUPP (Operation not supported) When I look for running mysql processes I don't see anything out of the ordinary. I figured it might be someplace in my code, so I modified .htaccess to spit out a 502 error to prevent it from loading anything. The error still shows up, just less frequently. There have been quite a few threads that talk about this error, but no real answer as to how to solve it. my.conf, as per request: [mysqld] #skip-networking #log-slow-queries #safe-show-database #local-infile = 0 log-slow-queries = /var/log/mysql-slow.log max_connections = 200 query_cache_limit = 128643200 key_buffer_size = 1200144000 low_priority_updates = 1 concurrent_insert = 2 thread_cache_size = 7 query_cache_size = 662144000 table_cache = 1600 table_definition_cache = 1024 long_query_time = 2.5 open_files_limit = 2647 max_connect_errors=999999999

  • Hyper-V Virtual Ethernet Adapter not working probperly - Code 31 on Host

    - by Chris S
I have a Windows 8.1 machine with Hyper-V installed. From a "clean" Hyper-V configuration I open Virtual Switch Manager, create an External switch with "Allow management operating system to share this network adapter", click OK. Everything seems to work properly but the host loses network connectivity. Opening Device Manager, the "Hyper-V Virtual Ethernet Adapter" is shown under the Network Adapter section with a yellow triangle, and the following message: This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31) An object ID was not found in the file. I tried "Uninstalling" the device, seems to work, but the device doesn't actually remove. I tried removing and re-adding the Hyper-V feature completely, no difference. Tried scf /scannow, no problems. System and Application logs show no errors. The Hyper-V-VMMS Networking log shows the following: Log Name: Microsoft-Windows-Hyper-V-VMMS-Networking Source: Microsoft-Windows-Hyper-V-VMMS Date: 10/24/2013 10:53:07 AM Event ID: 26088 Description: Failed to apply static IP settings to internal Ethernet adapter {A813DE9A-BE70-4FAE-AD31-BE4D54505A4B} ('885435B8-BE65-4EE9-826D-AB56035237ED'): Unspecified error (0x80004005). If I try to remove the Virtual Switch in Hyper-V Virtual Switch Manager I get this in that same log: Log Name: Microsoft-Windows-Hyper-V-VMMS-Networking Source: Microsoft-Windows-Hyper-V-VMMS Date: 10/24/2013 11:19:47 AM Event ID: 26142 Description: Failed while removing virtual Ethernet switch. • Nginx unknown limit_req_zone

    - by Kayle
    Nginx currently will not start due to the error mentioned in the title. Here's the actual error I'm getting: $ sudo /etc/init.d/nginx restart Restarting nginx: nginx: [emerg] unknown limit_req_zone "one" in /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/www.myhashimotosthyroiditis.com:15 nginx: configuration file /etc/nginx/nginx.conf test failed And this is immediately following creating the VM in question (www.myhashimotosthyroiditis.com), using a template I found here that was supposedly the "out-of-the-box-for-lazy-people" templates. I'm very new to Nginx and I could not find any helpful information via google or searching here, so I beg my pardon if this is a product of stupidity. Here is the entirety of the VM file: server { listen 80; server_name myhashimotosthyroiditis.com www.myhashimotosthyroiditis.com; root /var/www/myhashimotosthyroiditis; access_log /var/log/nginx/myhashimotosthyroiditis.access.log; error_log /var/log/nginx/myhashimotosthyroiditis.error.log; location / { try_files $uri $uri/ /index.php; } location /search { limit_req zone=one burst=3 nodelay; rewrite ^ /index.php; } fastcgi_intercept_errors off; location ~* \.(?:ico|css|js|gif|jpe?g|png)$ { expires max; add_header Pragma public; add_header Cache-Control "public, must-revalidate, proxy-revalidate"; } include php.conf; # You may want to remove the robots line from drop to use a virtual robots.txt # or create a drop_wp.conf tailored to the needs of the wordpress configuration include drop.conf; }

  • Nginx: Rewrite rule for subfolder

    - by gryzzly
Hello, I have a subdomain where I want to keep projects I am working on, in order to show these projects to clients. Here is the configuraion file from /etc/nginx/sites-available/projects: server { listen 80; server_name projects.example.com; access_log /var/log/nginx/projects.example.com.access.log; error_log /var/log/nginx/projects.example.com.error.log; location / { root /var/www/projects; index index.html index.htm index.php; } location /example2.com { root /var/www/projects/example2.com; auth_basic "Stealth mode"; auth_basic_user_file /var/www/projects/example2.com/htpasswd; } location /example3.com/ { index index.php; if (-f $request_filename) { break; } if (!-f $request_filename) { rewrite ^/example3\.com/(.*)$ /example3\.com/index.php?id=$1 last; break; } } location ~ \.php { root /var/www/mprojects; fastcgi_pass 127.0.0.1:9000; fastcgi_index index.php; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME $document_root$fastcgi_script_name; include /etc/nginx/fastcgi_params; } } I want to be able to place different php engines (wordpress, getsimple etc.) in subfolders. These engines have different querry parameters (id, q, url etc.) so in order to make preety URLs work I have to make a rewrite. However, above doesn't work. This is the response I get: Warning: Unknown: Filename cannot be empty in Unknown on line 0 Fatal error: Unknown: Failed opening required '' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in Unknown on line 0 If I take out "location /example3.com/" rule, then everything works but with no preety URLs. Please help. The configuration is based on this post: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2119736/cakephp-in-a-subdirectory-using-nginx-rewrite-rules I am using Ubuntu 9.10 and nginx/0.7.62 with php-fpm.

  • Installing ikiwiki on nginx - fastcgi/fcgi wrapper

    - by meder
My ultimate goal is to setup ikiwiki, my current goal is to get a fcgi wrapper working for nginx, so I can move on to the next step... The ikiwiki page points out this page as an example for a fcgi wrapper: http://technotes.1000lines.net/?p=23 So far I've installed the ikiwiki and libfcgi-perl modules through aptitude: aptitude install libfcgi-perl aptitude install ikiwiki It installed those packages as well as some minimal dependency packages. So the next step following the guide at technotes, I grabbed http://technotes.1000lines.net/fastcgi-wrapper.pl but I'm not sure where to actually place this file... do I run it as a service? The script makes a socket file in /var/run/nginx but that directory does not exist.. do I manually create it? So in addition to the .pl file for the cgi wrapper, I need to also define a separate cgi file for parameters. If my conf looks like this... server { listen 80; server_name notes.domain.org; access_log /www/notes/public_html/notes.domain.org/log/access.log; error_log /www/notes/public_html/notes.domain.org/log/error.log; location / { root /www/notes/public_html/notes.domain.org/public/; index index.html; } } And I don't have a cgi-bin directory, where exactly should I create it within my structure, and regarding that I'd obviously have to update the below before I include it in my conf, but I'm just not exactly sure how this would work out. # /cgi-bin configuration location ~ ^/cgi-bin/.*\.cgi$ { gzip off; fastcgi_pass unix:/var/run/nginx/perl_cgi-dispatch.sock; [1]* fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME /www/blah.com$fastcgi_script_name; [2]* include fastcgi_params; [3]* } Also since the user is www-data and /var/run is root owned, what's the proper way of giving it access? Any tips appreciated.

  • Exclude specific domains from Apache2 serverAlias while using a catch all *(wildcard) alias

    - by Victor S
I have a web application that needs to support custom domains, in that regard I have set-up the following name based virtual server: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName example.com ServerAlias * *.example.com www.example.com example.com RailsEnv production RackEnv production DocumentRoot /srv/www/example/current/public <Directory /srv/www/example/current/public> AllowOverride all Options -MultiViews FollowSymLinks </Directory> ErrorLog /srv/www/example/log/error.log TransferLog /srv/www/example/log/access.log </VirtualHost> Notice the * as the server alias? that catches all the domains on that server. However, I have other sites on this server which I want to be excluded from this list. It is more economical for me to have a list of excluded domains than manually set every domain a user may register with at this service as a serverAlias... Perhaps this is not the best way to go, but I'm looking for help, in the best (relatively simple) way to set up a web-app that may catch any domains, while allowing other specific domains to be routed to different apps. Thanks!

  • Restarting Haproxy Gracefully

    - by Anand Gupta
As per various blogs, HAproxy can be gracefully restarted using the following command: sudo haproxy -f /etc/haproxy/haproxy.cfg -p /var/run/haproxy.pid -sf $(cat /var/run/haproxy.pid) TO verify this, I had set up a apache bench script which contiguously sent message to haproxy. Ideally, whenever I restarted my server the script should not have an affect on the apache bunch execiton. But, it seems that whenever Haproxy is restarted apache bench scripts terminate and the connection to load balancer is lost. Here is the details of my HaProxy configuration file : global nbproc 4 log 127.0.0.1 local0 log 127.0.0.1 local1 notice #log loghost local0 info maxconn 4096 #chroot /usr/share/haproxy user haproxy group haproxy daemon pidfile /var/run/haproxy.pid stats socket /home/ubuntu/haproxy.sock #debug #quiet defaults log global mode http option httplog option dontlognull retries 3 option redispatch maxconn 2000 contimeout 5000 clitimeout 50000 srvtimeout 50000 listen webstats bind 0.0.0.0:1000 stats enable mode http stats uri /lb?stats stats auth anand:aaaaaaaa #stats refresh listen web-farm 0.0.0.0:80 mode http balance roundrobin option httpchk HEAD /index.php HTTP/1.0 server server2.com 1.1.1.1:80 server serve1.com 1.1.1.2:80 ~ Please let me know what am I missing here.

    - by toffitomek
My problem is exactly this same as described here: Server 2008 R2 - Unable to install any printer drivers Options - google groups I have few Windows 2008 R2 (no SP1) servers in remote offices, mostly in Domain Controller, and many of them have problems installing ANY printer drivers. following errors show up in Event Log when adding printer driver under Print and Document Services/Print Management/Print Services/ /Drivers OR trying any other way to install drivers: EventID 215: Installing printer driver - failed, error code 0x57, HRESULT 0x80070057. • How to ask memcached auth connection by sasl and pam?

    - by user199216
I use memcached in a untrust network, so I try to use sasl and pam to auth connection to memcached. I installed sasl and pam module, compiled and installed memcached with sasl enabled. Also I created db and table for pam user. I run: $ sudo testsaslauthd -u tester -p abc123 -s /etc/pam.d/memcached 0: OK "Success." where the tester and abc123 is the authed user in db, which I inserted. But my python script cannot be authed, always authentication failed returned. It seems it dose not use pam to authentication, still use sasldb, because when I add user by: $ sudo saslpasswd2 -a memcached -c tester and input password: abc123, It can passed. Python script: client = bmemcached.Client(('localhost:11211'), 'tester', 'abc123') and error: bmemcached.exceptions.MemcachedException: Code: 32 Message: Auth failure. memcached log: authenticated() in cmd 0x21 is true mech: ``PLAIN'' with 14 bytes of data SASL (severity 2): Password verification failed sasl result code: -20 Unknown sasl response: -20 >30 Writing an error: Auth failure. >30 Writing bin response: no auth log found in: /var/log/auth.log Configurations: vi /etc/default/saslauthd MECHANISMS="pam" vi /etc/pam.d/memcached auth sufficient pam_mysql.so user=sasl passwd=abc123 host=localhost db=sasldb table=sasl_user usercolumn=user_name passwdcolumn=password crypt=0 sqllog=1 verbose=1 account required pam_mysql.so user=sasl passwd=abc123 host=localhost db=sasldb table=sasl_user usercolumn=user_name passwdcolumn=password crypt=0 sqllog=1 verbose=1 vi /etc/sasl2/memcached.conf pwcheck_method: saslauthd Do I make my question clear, english is not my native language, sorry! • Group policy waited for the network subsystem

    - by the-wabbit
In an AD domain with Windows Server 2008 R2 DCs users are complaining about delays in the bootup process of the clients. The group policy log reveals that the client is waiting ~ 20-50 seconds for "the network subsystem": Event 5322, GroupPolicy Group policy waited for 29687 milliseconds for the network subsystem at computer boot. This appears to be domain-specific as machines joining a different domain from the same network do not experience any delays and Event 5322 reports <1000 ms wait times at startup. It happens on virtual and physical machines alike, so it does not look like a hardware- or driver-related issue. Further investigation has shown that the client is taking its time before issuing DHCP requests. In the network traces, I can see IPv6 router solicitations and multicast DNS name registrations as soon as the network driver is loaded and the network connection is reported "up" in the event log (e1cexpress/36). Yet, the DHCPv4 client service seems to take another 15-50 seconds to start (Dhcp-Client/50036), so the IPv4 address remains unconfigured for a while. The DHCP client's messages in the event log are succeeding the service start of the "Sophos Anti-Virus" service (Sophos AV 10.3 package), which I suspect to be the culprit - the DHCP client service dependencies include the TDI Support driver which might be what Sophos is using to intercept network traffic: Network Location Awareness seems to break at startup as a side-effect, I see that off-site DCs are contacted due to what seems like a race condition between the GP client and the DHCP client / NLA service startup. I could set the Group Policy Client service to depend on NLA, yet this still would not eliminate the delay. Also, I am not all that sure that this is a good idea. Is there a known resolution which would eliminate the startup delay?

  • Apache: Setting DocumentRoot to cgi directory results in downloading file instead of executing it.

    - by fastmonkeywheels
I have a c-compiled CGI application that I need to execute from the DocumentRoot of my Apache server. The CGI file is called index.cgi and is located at /usr/lib/cgi-bin/index.cgi. I have the following Directory definition <Directory "/usr/lib/cgi-bin/"> Options +ExecCGI -MultiViews +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch AllowOverride None Order allow, deny Allow from all DirectoryIndex index.cgi </Directory> I have the following VirtualHost setting: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin webmaster@localhost DocumentRoot /usr/lib/cgi-bin # ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /usr/lib/cgi-bin/ ErrorLog /var/log/apache2/error.log LogLevel warn CustomLog /var/log/apache2/access.log combined </VirtualHost> If I go to 127.0.0.1 or 127.0.0.1/index.cgi I get prompted to download the index.cgi file, however if I enable the ScriptAlias in the vhost configuration block and go to 127.0.0.1/cgi-bin/index.cgi I see the output of my CGI application. I had originally solved this problem with mod_rewrite, however that worked on my test system the target (embedded) doesn't have that module available so I'm looking at another route (again).

  • Adding an user to samba

    - by JustMaximumPower
I'm trying to setup some samba shares in my home network on an Ubuntu 12.04 machine. Everything works fine for my user account (max) but I can not add any new user. Every time I try to add new user they can not use the shares. It's likely that the error is very basic to the concept of samba but please don't just tell me to read the docs. I've been trying that for about 2 weeks now. I've set up the server with my user max who can mount transfer and the share max. Than I added the user simon with sudo adduser --no-create-home --disabled-login --shell /bin/false simon because the user should not be able to ssh into the machine. • Gitlab and Nginx not loading gitlab

    - by paperids
I have just installed gitlab and nginx on Ubuntu LTS 12.04 using this guide: http://blog.compunet.co.za/gitlab-installation-on-ubuntu-server-12-04/ I installed this on another server last night and had absolutely no problems with it (sort of a test run to see how long it would take to get going). I am not getting any errors when restarting gitlab or nginx with /etc/init.d and my error logs are empty. The only thing I know of to go on is the vhost config: upstream gitlab { server unix:/home/gitlab/gitlab/tmp/sockets/gitlab.sock$ } server { listen localhost:80; server_name gitlab.bluringdev.com; root /home/gitlab/gitlab/public; # individual nginx logs for this gitlab vhost access_log /var/log/nginx/gitlab_access.log; error_log /var/log/nginx/gitlab_error.log; location / { # serve static files from defined root folder;. # @gitlab is a named location for the upstream fallback$ try_files $uri $uri/index.html $uri.html @gitlab; } # if a file, which is not found in the root folder is r$ # then the proxy pass the request to the upsteam (gitla$ location @gitlab { proxy_redirect off; # you need to change this to "https", if you set "ssl" $ proxy_set_header X-FORWARDED_PROTO http; proxy_set_header Host gitlab.bluringdev.com:80; proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr; proxy_pass http://gitlab; } } If there's any other information that would be helpful, just let me know and I'll get it up asap.

  • Why am I getting a warning that windows is logging on with a temporary profile to run a task scheduler task?

    - by Dan C
I am having a strange problem with the Windows Server 2008 Task Scheduler. I have to run a small command-line application every few minutes. This application just executes a quick web service call on the localhost and adds an entry to a log file; so it should not need anything special in terms of permissions. First, I created a new user account "my_scheduler" just for the task. This account is a member of the Users group (not sure what other settings I should turn on/off) and set it's password to not expire. I then create a task to run the application every few minutes. I set it to "Run whether user is logged on or not" and turned on "Do not store password. The task will only have access to local resources" (I did this since it's not hitting anything on the network. I did not turn on "Run with highest privileges" since it does not seem to need them. I set the schedule to "After triggered, repeat every 30 minutes for a duration of 1 day" and "Allow task to be run on demand" (no other settings enabled). However, I notice that in the Event Log, I see a bunch of these warnings whenever the task is run: "Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off." Even though I get the warning, the task is executing (I see the log entries appearing). Another (possibly related) issue is that I also see that it's starting multiple copies of the task (within a few seconds of each other) even though it should only start one. This is also a big problem. Any idea how I can fix this? Thanks in advance, Dan

  • VSS Post Backup failures for Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1 virtual machines

    - by califguy4christ
We've been seeing strange errors with Volume Shadow Copy services on our Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1 host. It appears to be failing on a strange mountpoint in the C:\WINDOWS\Temp\ folders, which I believe is used by VSS to mount a writeable image file. To summarize: The Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 Writer continually goes into a failed retryable state The Virtual Server log reports errors during the Post Backup phase VSS reports errors backing up a mount point of unknown origins The mount point causes NTFS and ftdisk errors The host is x86 Windows Server 2003 Standard, SP2. The virtual machine is the same. Both use basic disks. Here is the writer state: Writer name: 'Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 Writer' Writer Id: {76afb926-87ad-4a20-a50f-cdc69412ddfc} Writer Instance Id: {78df98e2-bf19-4804-890b-15865efef3bd} State: [11] Failed Last error: Retryable error From the Virtual Server log: Virtual Server - Vss Writer - Event ID: 1035: The VSS writer for Virtual Server failed during the PostBackup phase. The guest shadow copies did not get exposed on the host machine, after mounting all the virtual hard disks of the virtual machine VMACHINE. From the Application log: VSS - None - Event ID: 12290: Volume Shadow Copy Service warning: GetVolumeInformationW( \\?\Volume{fb84bae7-87f5-11dd-9832-001cc4961ca6}\,NULL,0, NULL,NULL,[0x00000000], , 260) == 0x0000045d. hr = 0x00000000. From the System log: Ntfs - Disk - Event ID: 55: The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility on the volume C:\WINDOWS\Temp\ {fb84bae7-87f5-11dd-9832-001cc49.... My current theory is that VSS creates a mount point for an image file of the VHD, then the software panics for some reason, leaving everything in an inconsistent state. Removing the mount point doesn't resolve the problem. All of the other disks check out fine with CHKDSK. There's no exclusion option for VHDs or to turn off online backups. Has anyone seen this kind of thing before or point me in the right direction for getting more information about the mount point and it's origins? I haven't been able to trace what application is creating that mount point.

  • How do I hide "Extra File" and "100%" lines from robocopy output?

    - by Danny Tuppeny
I have a robocopy script to back up our Kiln repositories that runs nightly, which looks something like this: robocopy "$liveRepoLocation" "$cloneRepoLocation" /MIR /MT /W:3 /R:100 /LOG:"$backupLogLocation\BackupKiln.txt" /NFL /NDL /NP In the output, there are a ton of lines that contain "Extra file"s, like this: *EXTRA File 153 E:\Kiln Backup\elasticsearch\data\elasticsearch-kiln\nodes\0\indices\kiln-2\0\index\_yxe.fdt *EXTRA File 12 E:\Kiln Backup\elasticsearch\data\elasticsearch-kiln\nodes\0\indices\kiln-2\0\index\_yxe.fdx *EXTRA File 128 E:\Kiln Backup\elasticsearch\data\elasticsearch-kiln\nodes\0\indices\kiln-2\0\index\_yxe.fnm *EXTRA File 363 E:\Kiln Backup\elasticsearch\data\elasticsearch-kiln\nodes\0\indices\kiln-2\0\index\_yxe.frq *EXTRA File 13 E:\Kiln Backup\elasticsearch\data\elasticsearch-kiln\nodes\0\indices\kiln-2\0\index\_yxe.nrm Additionally, there are then hundreds of lines at the bottom that contain nothing but "100%"s, like this: 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% In addition to making the log files enormous (there are a lot of folders/files in Kiln repos), it makes it annoying to scan through the logs now and then to see if everything was working ok. How do I stop "Extra Files" appearing in the log? How do I stop these silly "100%" lines appearing in the log? I've tried every combination of switch I can think of (the current switches are listed above in the command), but neither seem to hide these!

  • ip-up does not trigger when using built-in cisco vpn on mac osx lion

    - by Yasser Sobhdel
I am using Cisco VPN client over lion and I want to make the ip-up and ip-down work. There is no sign of any action taken when I connect or disconnect this VPN connection. I really doubt whether the syntax has been changed or even this kind if connection is triggering the ip-up. Logically, it must be set over ppp but when using the following codes and instructions on them, there is no sign of any output in the log file: http://www.macfreek.nl/mindmaster/Modify_PPTP_Routing_Table http://www.aidanfindlater.com/use-vpn-for-specific-sites-on-mac-os-x Going for error, which there is no sign of it, using the following page: http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20060616150640529 I couldn't find the /var/log/ppp/vpnd.log log file. Also the files are given full permission 0755 or a+x or even 777 using the following command: sudo chmod a+x /etc/ppp/ip-up Any clue on how to debug this would be appreciated. I am totally confused, netstat -rn -f inet doesn't show the routes. Even when the routes are added manually, closing the VPN connection does not run the ip-down and the routes must be deleted manually.

  • Cisco 837 not passing UDP traffic properly (was: DNS query problem)

    - by TessellatingHeckler
We have a setup of ADSL line - Cisco 837 ADSL router - Zyxel ZyWall 35 firewall/NAT - Switch - LAN. It has been fine for years, suddenly DNS resolution stopped working from the LAN to public DNS servers. No changes that I know of, so I can't revert anything. Current behaviour: DNS requests from the LAN using TCP show up in the oubound firewall log, in the Cisco debug log, in the dns-server-firewall, in tcpdump on the DNS server, the answer comes back, it works fine. DNS requests from the LAN using UDP show up in the outbound firewall log, in the Cisco debug log, but does NOT show in the dns-server-firewall, not in tcpdump on the DNS server, times out. DNS requests from the Cisco using UDP show up in the dns-server-firewall and in tcpdump on the DNS server, answer received, works fine. netcat connections to port 53 or a random port by TCP show up in the dns-server-firewall netcat connections to port 53 or a random port by UDP do not show up in the dns-server-firewall Summary: TCP seems fine throughought. UDP works from the Cisco over the ADSL, and it works from the LAN to the Cisco, but it doesn't seem to cross the Cisco 837 properly. Update: confirmed with netcat that any UDP traffic from the LAN is affected, not just traffic to port 53. Update: If I change the firewall's external IP to any other IP in the subnet, this starts working. When I put it back, it stops working. I now suspect it's an ISP issue (does that sound plausible?), and am removing the Cisco config.
