Is it true that if I am in India and wish to enroll for the apple developer program, I need to do it by sending them a FAX and it is not possible to do it online ?
I am using Ubuntu 9.10 and I am a bit of a robotics enthusiast. I have used KiKS (in MATLAB for simulating Khepera robots), MobotSim (in Windows, simulates a point like robot using a BASIC editor) and Player/Stage (with C/C++ on Ubuntu 9.04).
My question, can MS Robotics Studio be installed in Ubuntu Linux using Wine (I am using 1.1.31) ? Has anyone done it ?
Any other way to install MS Robotics Studio in Unix (Any flavour) ?
Thanks for your reply !
Hi Guys,
I am creating a GUI frontend for the Eve Online API in Python.
I have successfully pulled the XML data from their server.
I am trying to grab the value from a node called "name"
from xml.dom.minidom import parse
dom = parse("C:\\eve.xml")
name = dom.getElementsByTagName('name')
print name
This seems to find the node ok but the output is below:
[<DOM Element: name at 0x11e6d28>]
How could I get it to print the value of the node?
Cheers
Is it possible to access Google Chrome's cache from within an extension?
I'd like to write an extension that loads a cached version of a page when the online one can't be accessed (e.g. Internet connectivity issue).
Updated: I know I could write an NPAPI plugin accessible through an extension to accomplish this but I'd rather not suffer writing one... I am after a solution without resorting to NPAPI, please.

Various online services have different values for maximum year of expiry, when it comes to Credit Cards.
For instance:
Basecamp: +15 years (2025)
Amazon: +20 years (2030)
Paypal: +19 years (2029)
What is the reasonable maximum here? Are there any official guidelines?
All the Python-provided types have a check method (i.e., PyList_Check) that allows you to check if an arbitrary PyObject* is actually a specific type.
How can I implement this for my own types? I haven't found anything good online for this, though it seems like a pretty normal thing to want to do.
Also, maybe I'm just terrible at looking through large source trees, but I cannot for the life of me find the implementation of PyList_Check or any of it's companions in the Python (2.5) source.
I have several scripts in UNC paths (from Windows batch files to PHP scripts). No matter how I run them (double click on explorer, my editor's run command menu or Windows command prompt) they take really long to start running (like 14 seconds). Once they get started they run normally. This doesn't happen if I run them from mapped drives.
I'm using Windows XP Professional SP3 inside an Active Directory domain and files are hosted in a Windows Server box (not sure about the version, it's an HP dedicated file server with bundled OS).
Why does it happen? Is there a way to speed up things while using UNC paths?
I have a program that runs through R but uses the BLAS routines. It runs through correctly about 8 times but then throws an error
BLAS/LAPACK routine 'DGEMV ' gave error code -6
What does this error code mean. I cant find the answer online but I'm sure there is someone here that knows it.
I'd like some suggestions for online resources (blogs, guides, etc - not forums) to help me become good at designing high performance SQL Server databases that operate with large amounts of data and have heavy loads in terms of data turnover and queries per minute.
Suggestions?
Is there a way to remove windows line endings on a basic windows 7 install. I'm working on a windows 7 computer with notepad and word 2010 at work. I'm trying to demo markdown without installing additional text editor, and keeping it installed locally.
I've tried Word with replace on \r\n, special characters and other ways and it can't locate. Notepad same issue.
Or is there a markdown converter that an online markdown converter that will handle windows line endings?
Hello All,
I am preparing for a Systems Admin(linux) role for a big company(top 10 companies) and one of the requisite is knowledge of a language like perl, python or Ruby. I have a phone interview which involves sharing a editor with the interviewer, now what kind of coding exercise can I expect on a phone interview or a regular interview?
I have used shell for most of my day-to-day tasks and occasionally Perl and python for bigger tasks. Now I don't expect them to ask
Write a script that sync's AD users to
LDAP?
I don't think data structures, algorithms or sorting questions apply to me role? Can you give me any examples of SysAdmin related coding questions?
How do I get the baseline of a font in Silverlight v3. I need to be able to do some simple font metrics so that I can reproduce some online render using an external markup system and make the output looks the same.
Silverlight renders fonts from top, left but the external system uses font baseline.
In all examples online that I have seen, when rendering meta-balls (level sets of a potential function), the point of ray-meta-ball intersection is always found by raymarching. Are there any alternatives to this for determining the point explicitly?
Hello,
In an application I'm designing, the user has to be able to specify rather complex event scheduling (continuous time-block vs. daily time-blocks, exception date/times, recurrence patterns etc.)
Does anyone know of a good design page for such a thing online? For example, I was highly impressed with this page's description of how to do database audit trails, and would love something similar.
Thanks.
I'm trying to add shortcuts to folders in "My Computer".
This .reg almost works, I can execute programs like EXPLORE.exe, but I want to open a folder in the same window.
Can someone please point out how?

Hi,
I am a newbie to web-services. What is a good way to learn web-services implementation using java, xml and spring? Are there any good books which cover this topic in good width?
Or, are there any online resources, tutorials, etc.?
Also, what would be good projects to understand this hands-on?
Any recommendations?
Hi there
Im looking for a good book describing what types of fraud can you come across in online services as well as some techniques of detecting and preventing them.
Does not have to be super technical, im more interested in bigger picture than algorithms (maybe even financial or forensic angle) : )
Thanks for help : )

I need to display how many users are browsing my site. The site is running on iis7, and we are using asp.net 3.5.
Is the number of active sessions a good way to go?
The number does not need to be very accurate.
No history is needed, I just want to know how many users are "online" right now.
If I use relative frequency to estimate the probability of an event, how good is my estimate based on the number of experiments? Is standard deviation a good measure? A paper/link/online book would be perfect.

I am trying to become more familiar with SQL by writing queries against the Northwind database.
I am looking for some exercises that would help me to learn SQL and features of SQL Server. It is important that the exercises have solutions, and in complicated cases, it would be great if there was an explanation for the query.
Thanks for the answers so far but I still have not found what I am looking for:
Is there any free resource, available online, without registration, that I can find a list of these exercises?
I just written a linux character driver. I created one character device file named X. I can see that file in /dev folder. Now I want to do some read/write operation into this file. I opened the filed in VI editor and write some text into it. I used :wq and exited. It didn't show any error. Now when I do cat on that same file I am not able to see any content. I tried it several times. The same situation.
Please let me know If I am doing something wrong....
I can't figure out how to properly show the printer preference dialog of a given printer so that the user can change the printer settings.
Most of the examples that I can find online manage to show the dialog but any changes the user might make are lost which makes it useless.
Example:
http://www.codeproject.com/KB/system/PrinterPropertiesWindow.aspx
(I tried to change the code as suggested by BartJoy but that didn't fix it)
Does anyone know how to do this properly?
I would like to make my plugin require a license to run similar to the maven clover plugin. Is there some utility out there that I can generate licenses with that will also allow me to integrate that into the plugin?
I need to do the following steps.
Modify the existing plugin to validate the license file
Generate the license file online and store the information for retrieval later.
Thanks,
Walter
