  • Error connecting to the application.

    Hi guys, let me explain you the current scenario. We have a asp.net application on framework 2 running on intranet(Windows 2003 Server and Sql Server 2000). Now we have a xp machine where we installed and configured IIS with a virtual directory pointing on the local Xp machine and this machine is connected to our intranet. We have copied the same application files of the server to this XP machine. But the thing is the connection string/database of the application is pointing towards the intranet server. The problem is when we try to run the application on the XP machine we get this error : An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) Is this query related or concerned with this site or stackoverflow ?

    I have a table recording the amount of data transferred by a given service on a given date. One record is entered daily for a given service. I'd like to be able to retrieve the most recent amount for a set of services. Example data set: serviceId | amount | date ------------------------------- 1 | 8 | 2010-04-12 2 | 11 | 2010-04-12 2 | 14 | 2010-04-11 3 | 9 | 2010-04-11 1 | 6 | 2010-04-10 2 | 5 | 2010-04-10 3 | 22 | 2010-04-10 4 | 17 | 2010-04-19 Desired response (service ids 1,2,3): serviceId | amount | date ------------------------------- 1 | 8 | 2010-04-12 2 | 11 | 2010-04-12 3 | 9 | 2010-04-11 Desired response (service ids 2, 4): serviceId | amount | date ------------------------------- 2 | 11 | 2010-04-12 4 | 17 | 2010-04-19 This retrieves the equivalent as running the following once per serviceId: SELECT serviceId, amount, date FROM table WHERE serviceId = <given serviceId> ORDER BY date DESC LIMIT 0,1 I understand how I can retrieve the data I want in X queries. I'm interested to see how I can retrieve the same data using either a single query or at the very least less than X queries. I'm very interested to see what might be the most efficient approach. The table currently contains 28809 records. I appreciate that there are other questions that cover selecting the most recent set of records. I have examined three such questions but have been unable to apply the solutions to my problem.

What difference between working of: InstallUtill /u exePath when it uninstall service and: sc delete serviceName And why when I delete some record from registry from CurrentControlSet\services I still see the service in services.msc but with: <Failed to read description.     I´m a noobie so please be patient ! I developed an app using C# and SQL Server Express 2012 with a local database, my connection string is"Data Source=localhost ; Initial Catalog = scalnet ; Integrated Security=SSPI; Trusted_Connection=Yes"; Everything worked ok till the time I made a setup and tried to install my app in another computer. My first question is: - What version of SQL should I install is this machine? it should be as ligth as possible. - I tried to install SQL exprees 2012 but it gives me an error when I execute my app "A network related or instance specific error occurred while establishing a ..... (provider:Named Pipes Provider, error:40 - Could not open a connection to SQL server." This probably should be a problem with the server configuration but I have no ideia how to solve this...     I have subscribed to a VPS offered by a hosting provider. The guaranteed performance 1GB RAM, 1M bandwidth. But I found that from time to time the websites can be very slow, so slow that it could take more than 30 seconds to load a simple Joomla website. However the website resumed the usual speed after a few minutes. This created a problem for me when I want to report the performance problem to the hosting provider. They would say to me "see, no problem". Of course there is no problem because the problem is only there for a few minutes , and everything is normal. This ocassionally-slow problem will bug me a few days later and the cycle repeats. Any idea how to solve this problem?

  • [C# Thread] I'd like access to a share on the network!

    Some Details I am working with VisualWebGUI, so this app is like ASP.NET, and it is deployed on IIS 7 (for testing) For my 'Web Site', Anonymous Authentication is set to a specific user (DomainName\DomainUser). In my web.config, I have impersonation on. This is how I got my app to access the share in the first place. The Problem There is a point in the the app where we use the Thread class, something similar to: Thread myThread = new Thread(new ThreadStart(objInstance.PublicMethod)); myThread.Start(); What I have noticed is that I can write to my logs (text file on the share), everywhere throughout my code, except in the thread that I kicked off. I added some debugging output and what I see for users is: The thread that's kicked off: NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE Everywhere else in my code: DomainName\DomainUser (described in my IIS setup) OK, for some reason the thread gets a different user (NETWORK SERVICE). Fine. But, my share (and the actual log file) was given 'Full Control' to the NETWORK SERVICE user (this share resides on a different server than the one that my app is running). If NETWORK SERVICE has rights to this folder, why do I get access denied? Or is there a way to have the thread I kick off have the same user as the process?

    I have a site at say: foo.com and I would like the subdomain blog.foo.com to point to fooblog.com blog.foo.com - fooblog.com However, our DNS provider says that if we do an alias such as that, since the provider at fooblog.com does not recognize the name blog.foo.com. We asked if we could just point blog.foo.com at the IP address of fooblog.com and they say the same problem will occur. Any advice? Due to our configuration we can't really put the blog on foo.com. We are willing to move our hosting and even our domain name hosting if necessary. -- Yes, I am a n00b when it comes to DNS.

    Question As a general practice, is it a good idea to use multiple TLDs for the name servers? How should I choose between which TLD would be a good candidate for being the root server for my NS name? More Info I am switching over 800 DNS zones to an outsourced DNS provider. I originally planned on setting the zone names to nsX.company.com, but think it would be best to have multiple TLDs such as .net , .org and .info Since I plan on supporting DNSSec at company.com I think all the 1st tier Name servers must support it as well. Part of the inspiration for this question came from our provider UltraDNS.   • Backup/Multihomed network connection

    We have a couple locations that require 24/7 access to Internet and our current provider (AT&T) while mostly good is not always up. My concern would be if I go with another provider (for example Comcast) I'm going to be subject to the same down time if it's in the "last mile". I for the most part don't know where the failure points are on the ISP side but I would imagine the large majority are within the last mile. I'd looked at Mifi or similar solution but have concerns about bandwidth caps and overall speed. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    First of all I want to tell you what kind of system I have and I want to build on. 1- A Solution (has) a- Shared Class Library project (which is for lots of different solutions) b- Another Class Library project (which is only for this solution) c- Web Application project (which main part of this solution) d- Shared Web Service project (which also serves for different solutions) 2- B Solution (has) a- Shared Class Library project (which is for lots of different solutions) c- Windows Form Application project (which is main part of this solution) d- Web Service project (which also serves for different solutions) and other projects like that.... I am using xp-dev.com as our svn repository server. And I opened different projects for these items (Shared Class Library, Web Service project, Windows Form Application project, Web Application project, Another Class Library project) . I want to do the versioning of all these projects of course. My first question is, should I put each project(one solution) to one svn repository to get their revision number later on? Or should I put each of them to different svn repository and keep( write down) their correct version number that is used to publish/deploy every solution? If I use one svn for each project(Shared Class Lib, Web App, Shared Web Service....) how can I relate the right svn address and version on VS.2010 within the real solution? So, how do you manage your repositories and projects?

  • What is the best way to implement a callback scenario using WCF and ASP.NET MVC?

    I am new to WCF. I just finished reading Learning WCF and I think I've got a pretty good grasp of the fundamentals. I am adding functionality to a line of business app that runs on ASP.NET MVC entirely inside the corporate LAN. I am calling into a service that will also send me events as they occur (and not as responses to service calls). These events can occur at any point during the user's session. I have the service written, and it is able to pick up these events. What would be the best way to deliver these events to the user? My initial thought is to run the WCF service in duplex mode over net TCP and implement the events as callbacks. Using this scenario, the best way I can think up to deliver the events to the user is a dictionary object stored in the session. The dictionary would be populated by the callbacks and polled on a set frequency for delivery via AJAX calls. Has anyone dealt with this scenario? Is there a more efficient way to implement this?

My Register string looks something like this: [email protected]:[email protected] But this is not working, as asterisk is only sending the first part +112223344 before the first @.     This question already has an answer here: is there anyway to know if your supposedly fully dedicated server is really a virtually resource-shared machine? [duplicate] 5 answers How can I know if my provider is giving me a dedicated physical server or if I'm getting virtual servers? The provider is from an other country so I don't have the chance to go and see the servers by myself, all of them have linux and they're managed by SSH. All the hire has been done by internet or phone. Are there any commands, dirs to analyze or a way to get this info? They of course tell me that the servers are physical, but when they make some support or hardware/software upgrade or that kind of stuff doesn't take a long. For example, when I ask for a new one with specific requirements at the end they give me more infrastructure than the one I asked for. Of course no one gives extra things without an extra price. You can start pre-booking the phone from November 18 through Aircel website or walking into an Aircel showroom near you. My multiple calls to Aircel customer care division were no use to get the details on the price information. Three times the call got disconnected before a customer care executive tried fetching the details on price and models. We hear from BGR India blog that iPhone 4S price is going start at Rs. 40,000 for a 16GB model and may go up to Rs. 50,000 for a 64 GB model. Airtel, another leading mobile service provider in India, who sells iPhone in India is not sure when they are going to start offering iPhone 4S to its customer. I reached customer care regarding the iPhone 4S and they don’t have any details to offer at the moment. It’s good to see Apple releasing iPhone 4S to India markets just after couple of months of International release. Apple was earlier criticized for releasing iPhone 2, iPhone 3G in India almost an year after the international launch while companies like Nokia release their flagship models just after weeks of international launch. One of the most sought after feature of iPhone 4S is Siri and my friends in US told that it works amazingly good. Siri does not have any problem in understanding Indian English accent and it is very good at recognizing the Indian names in contacts list. But at the same time we do hear reports that Siri does not help much if it’s used outside USA. Considering that Siri is a software it should be possible for Apple to improve it to work better outside USA. But who know the priorities of Apple!   • Unity launcher doesn't appear in VNC session

    I'd like to have a unity desktop accessible via VNC on a precise server machine I have running. I installed the ubuntu-desktop package. I'm launching a VNC session with the following in my ~/.vnc/xstartup file: !/bin/sh xrdb $HOME/.Xresources xsetroot -solid grey export XKL_XMODMAP_DISABLE=1 gnome-session --session=ubuntu-2d What could the issue be here? The content of my /usr/share/gnome-session/sessions/ubuntu-2d.session file (this is what 12.04 puts there by default) is: [GNOME Session] Name=Ubuntu 2D RequiredComponents=gnome-settings-daemon; RequiredProviders=windowmanager;panel;shell; DefaultProvider-windowmanager=metacity DefaultProvider-panel=unity-2d-panel DefaultProvider-shell=unity-2d-shell DesktopName=Unity I don't know anything about unity-2d, but I guessed that the default session was not configured to use the launcher. I tried making the following modifications: [GNOME Session] Name=Ubuntu 2D RequiredComponents=gnome-settings-daemon; RequiredProviders=windowmanager;panel;shell;launcher; DefaultProvider-windowmanager=metacity DefaultProvider-panel=unity-2d-panel DefaultProvider-shell=unity-2d-shell DefaultProvider-launcher=unity-2d-launcher DesktopName=Unity But I got the following warning in my VNC log file: gnome-session[10354]: WARNING: Unable to find default provider 'qr' of required provider 'launcher' And the VNC session wouldn't even start with that configuration.
