  Hi, I have an Organisation entity and a Region entity. An object of type Organisation can have one or more Region objects connected to it, thus I have a foreign key in my Region entity to the Organisation Entity. The Organisation and Region objects are pulled from my database using WCF RIA and entity framework. I want to put the Organisation objects in one ComboBox and the Region objects in another ComboBox, and when selecting an organsation having the ComboBox for Region objects automatically only showing regions that are connected to the selected organisation. Should be pretty basic, but the way I've designed it right now it doesnt work at all. So, any hint to how I can achive this? A simple simple codeexample is much appreciated! (I'm using SL4,WCF RIA MVVM)

  Hello stackoverflow members, How can I use gtkmm with MinGW (g++) without MSYS? Here is the story of my problem: I installed MinGW offline with all required packages (full install). I installed Apache Server and I copied all .tar.gz files and I created a website called sourceforge.org [localhost] and I installed automatically MinGW on Windows XP. After, I set the PATH variables. After, I installed gtkmm for MinGW (g++). I tried to compile a simple window with gtkmm + MinGW, but it does not work. I use this command line: g++ simple.cc -o simple pkg-config gtkmm-2.4 --cflags --libs After, I installed MSYS and I can compile simple.cc with MSYS, using this command line: g++ simple.cc -o simple pkg-config gtkmm-2.4 --cflags --libs My problem: I want to compile simple.cc without MSYS. I want compile my simple.cc with cmd.exe - It's possbile? If, yes. How? Thank you for reading my message. Any help is appreciated.

• Vim and clang_complete, how to explicitly compile my code

  I use Vim with clang_complete for omnicompletion. The plugin is automatically triggered when I need completion, e.g., after I type . or -> to access an object members or methods (see attached screenshot). The plugin works really nice, however I would need a way to trigger it manually (i.e. to compile my code for syntax checking). This is useful for two reasons: Static syntax checking Clear previous errors which have been fixed (which otherwise will remain in their buffer). • Are MongoDB and CouchDB perfect substitutes?

  I haven't got my hands dirty yet with neither CouchDB nor MongoDB but I would like to do so soon... I also have read a bit about both systems and it looks to me like they cover the same cases... Or am I missing a key distinguishing feature? I would like to use a document based storage instead of a traditional RDBMS in my next project. I also need the datastore to handle large binary objects (images and videos) automatically replicate itself to physically separate nodes rendering the need of an additional RDBMS superfluous Are both equally well suited for these requirements?   I am currently trying to convert a VB6 program into C#. There was extensive use of string splitting into structure. For example, Dim Sample AS String Sample = "John Doe New York Test Comment" Public Type Struct1 Name As String * 15 Address As String * 10 Comment As String * 20 End Type Dim dataStruct As Struct1 Set dataStruct = Sample When the dataStruct is set, it will automatically split value into the 3 structure member. Is there a special function to do this in C#. The only way I know how to do this is thru Attributes/Annotation describing the length and start position of string. Any other suggestion?

  I have inherited a rails forum (Rails 2.3.2 I think) that alerts people of new posts/replies for the forums or threads they are watching. To make it easier for people to answer to threads I would like to enable reply-to-post, similar to basecamp and a bunch of other forums and tools out there. I would add a separator text (like "----add your reply above this line-----") in the original email. I need to: - process incoming email - extract the new text (above the separator line) - ideally strip out text like "on ... [email protected] wrote:" that is automatically added by some mail clients - identify the thread this email is referring to (either using the incoming address or the subject line) - identify the sender - post the content as new reply Any suggestions on how to get started?   My program is working with fax documents stored as separate bitmaps I wonder if there is a way to detect automatically page orientation (vertical or horizontal) to show image preview for user in right order (meant rotate if neccesary) Any advices much appreciated! EDIT: Clarification: When Faxmachine receives multi-page document it saves each page as separate TIFF file. My app has built-in viewer displaying those files. All files are scaled to A4 format and saved in TIFF (so there is no change to detect orientation by height/width parameters) My viewer displays images in portrait mode by default What I'd like to do is automagically detect situation when org document was printed in landscape mode (eg wide Excel tables) then I'd like to show rotated preview for end user to speed up preview process Obviously there are 4 possible fax orientation portrait / landscape x 2 kind of rotations. I'm even interested simplified solution detecting when org doc was landscape or portrait (I've noticed most of landscape docs needs to be rotated clockwise)

  Hi, I'd like to introduce build number feature for my iPhone project and increase it automatically with every commit to my git repo. I plan to do it using Apple's agvtool, which recommends that project is not opened in XCode at the time So my questions are: 1) So far I know that I need to make an executable script from .git/hooks/pre-commit.sample. How to do the scripting to check if certain project is opened in XCode? 2) pre-commit.sh will be executed upon calling git commit with no args, so whenever someone will commit with -a option, I won't have my build number updated. • Print PDF from ASP.Net without preview

  Hi, I've generated a pdf using iTextSharp and I can preview it very well in ASP.Net but I need to send it directly to printer without a preview. I want the user to click the print button and automatically the document prints. I know that a page can be sent directly to printer using the javascript window.print() but I don't know how to make it for a PDF. Edit: it is not embedded, I generate it like this; ... • How do you configure firefox to open an application without prompting the user?

  I've got a serverside app that send down a custom mime-type file "application/x-optibase". Firefox prompt user user to save or open the file and if the user clicks open the correct application launches so I believe I have mimeType.rdf configured correctly I've gone into about:config and set browser.helperApps.neverAsk.openFile to application/x-optibase and browser.helpApps.alwaysAsk.force to false According to the minimal documentation out there this should enable the application to automatically open when the user downloads the file but it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas? Thanks.

• Scrollbar Problem

  Hi All, There is a datagrid on my page which contains a lot of data. When i click on any row , the user is redirected to a page where he can edit the content of that row. But suppose I am at the bottom of page and then if I click on any row, the scrollbar of browser automatically shifts upwards which causes illusion for the user and make him confused if he has clicked on some other row. Is there any solution to this so that the position of scrollbar does not change after clicking on any data in datagrid. Thanks in advance.

• Delayed Jobs is not finding Records and failing..

  In my app, delayed jobs isn't running automatically on my server anymore. It used to.. When I manually ssh in, and perform rake jobs:work I return this : * Starting job worker host:ip-(censored) pid:21458 * [Worker(host:ip-(censored) pid:21458)] acquired lock on PhotoJob * [JOB] host:ip-(censored) pid:21458 failed with ActiveRecord::RecordNotFound: Couldn't find Photo with ID=9237 - 4 failed attempts This returns roughly 20 times over for what I think is several jobs. Then I get a few of these: [Worker(host:ip-(censored) pid:21458)] failed to acquire exclusive lock for PhotoJob And then finally one of these : 12 jobs processed at 73.6807 j/s, 12 failed ... Any ideas what I should be mulling over? Thanks so much!

• How to show, not download, images in apache?

  I'm dynamically generating some charts using mod_python, in .png and .pdf formats. When a user points to /some/path/some_imagefile_name.png, I want to show the image within the browser, like in this url. I also want the image to be accessible from an HTML <img src=> tag. So far, whenever I point my browser to a .png address from my server, the .png and .pdf are automatically downloaded instead of being viewed. How should I fix this? I tagged this under Apache, since I figured it would be an Apache config thing. If it's not, please point me towards the right direction.

• Is this query safe in SQL Server?

  I have this SQL update query: UPDATE table1 SET table1.field1 = 1 WHERE table1.id NOT IN (SELECT table2.table1id FROM table2); Other portions of the application can add records to table2 which use the field table1id to reference table1. The goal here is to remove records from table1 which aren't referenced by table2. Does SQL Server automatically lock table2 with this kind of query so that a new record can't be added to table2 while executing this query? I've also considered: UPDATE table1 SET field1 = 1 WHERE 0 = (SELECT COUNT(*) FROM table2 WHERE table1.id = table2.table1id); Which seems possibly safer, but much slower (because a SELECT would be called on each row of table1 instead of just one select for the NOT IN)

• Jquery autosuggest google maps - Load on selection

  At the moment, the Google map code works like this: When you start typing in the input box it loads a list of suggestions. Then when you click on one of these options from the list, it puts it into the input box. However, THEN you still have to click find to load up the result. I want to have it so when you click on an option from the autosuggest list, it automatically loads the result, without having to click "find" afterwards. This is the code I am working with. • GLOB_BRACE portability?

  In this question, I was made aware of glob()'s GLOB_BRACE option that allows for a limited set of regular expressions when searching for files. This looks just like what I need, but according to the manual, GLOB_BRACE is "not available on some Non-GNU Operating systems." Among those seems to be Solaris. I am building an application that is supposed to be as portable as possible, so I need to check out possible problems as early as possible. Does somebody know of other platforms apart from Solaris where GLOB_BRACE is not supported? How about Mac OS = X for example? It's built on top of a Unix. Is every Unix automatically a "GNU" platform as defined in the manual?

  I was just curious if I could pass a function as a variable. For example: I have a function $('#validate').makeFloat({x:671,y:70,limitY:700}); I would like to do something like this: $('#validate').makeFloat({x:function(){ return $("#tabs").offset().left+$("#tabs").width();},y:70,limitY:700}); This does not work, but ideally every time the variable was accessed it would compute the new value. So if the window was resized it would automatically adjust as opposed to a variable passed in being static. I realize I can implement this directly inside the function\widget, but I was wondering if there was some way to do something like the above.

• How do I use an enum with custom values for a Sharepoint Web part?

  I'm trying to design a Web Part that has a drop-down list for the user to choose from. Eventually, these values will be automatically generated based on some kind of outside data source, so they're going to have somewhat arbitrary numeric values associated with them. This is the code I have now: public enum filterChoice { All=0, BOCC=12, Sustainability=15, Clerk=4, DA=13, Emergency=7, Highlights=3, POS=6, PR=1, PH=5, SHPR=2, Test=8, Transportation=14, Volunteer=16 }; These are different categories I want the user to choose from. When I choose one and save the settings for my Web Part, Sharepoint is only saving the values in numeric order; that is, All=0, BOCC=1, Sustainability=3 [...] so my Web Part then thinks the user chose the value with the corresponding number (PR when they chose BOCC, Highlights when they chose Sustainability, etc.) How can I make Sharepoint honor my custom values?

• Automatic VisualState Manager in Silverlight

  If you create a simple button and then choose Edit Template - Edit a Copy, Blend will automatically generate a style area, along with all the button states (MouseEnter, MouseLeave, Pressed, etc). No where in the code behind or auto generated style area does it say that on a "MouseOver" event, change the state to "MouseOver", but it still manages to work! Is the only way to change a button's state have to be done the code behind using the VisualStateManager.GoToState method, or can you change it much like CSS does (a:hover) using the VisualStateManager? From my experience, setting just doesn't seem to do the trick.

• Fixing too long comment lines in Vim

  I'm looking for a convenient way to fix comments where line lengths exceed a certain number of characters in Vim. I'm fine with doing this manually with code, especially since it's not that frequent, plus refactoring long lines is often language, or even code-style dependent, but with comments this is pure drudgery. What happens is I often spot some issue in a comment, tweak one or two words and the line spills out of the, say, 80 character limit. I move the last word to the next line and then the next line spills, and so on. Does anyone know a way to do this automatically in Vim?

  Hello all, I'm new to SSL connections so here goes my question. I have a desktop Java program in a JAR file. This JAR sends sensitive information over the internet to a remote Tomcat server. Of course I need to encrypt the data. If I purchase an SSL cerfiticate say from Verisign, will the data sent over SSL be automatically encrypted? I mean in my JAR, will I still need to do extra work like use Java encryption extensions API to manually encrypt my data over the SSL connection? Thank you.

• Loading HTML5 video on iPad via onclick event tied to a div

  I'm developing an HTML5 application (a game), that automatically preloads 5 video files. I'm able to do so correctly on Safari for PC, so there are no overlooked problems with file formats, codecs or such. The load fails on an iPad. As an official guide for video on iOS puts it: This means the JavaScript play() and load() methods are also inactive until the user initiates playback, unless the play() or load() method is triggered by user action. In other words, a user-initiated Play button works, but an onLoad="play()" event does not. Does this mean, that I have no means to initiate the loading of video after a user initiated action, if that action hasn't been tied to a video element (user clicked on a regular div — I request loading and displaying of a video, compared to the user actually clicking on a video element to load and play that particular element)? • Is it possible to autocomplete fields in Sharepoint with user info?

  Hi, I'm in charge of a Sharepoint collection, and a user asks this. Is it possible that when a user creates an item, some fields are automatically filled with some info, such as email address and location? Authentication uses Active Directory, so every user is identified when using Sharepoint. The only issue is that, being in a big corporate company, I don't have any access to the server, so it must be feasible through configuration of said site/list or using Sharepoint Designer, but I can't and won't be allowed to deploy anything server side. Any idea?
